just curious what people are running that run a 2.x rom, me personally im trying to decide which one is more reliable and quicker. Looking at darch's or damage.
any opinions on them?
DamageControl v1 is awesome...
Well, I can't comment on darch as I haven't tried it, however, it seems by all accounts that damage has the most stable and best working Rom. Although not perfect, it seems to be the one closest......
also im looking for one in which sms, mms and google voice all work

Damage has fix for sms, mms and google voice I beleive are not available yet on 2.1 as it is a sprint issue....
using my own custom rom right now... still in development.

I use sms, mms, and google voice on Damage. I'm on sprint. there's no issue. using ChompSMS as my sms client.
feld can you sms from the GV app?
and on damage did you have to dl any patch to get them to work? or just the main zip and all worked fine??

Google Voice is excellent on 2.1... I've used both Damage, and darch... (currently running damagedDarch!!!) As far as stability.... damage seems to be giving people less problems, although I haven't encountered any on either that didn't have a fix...
you should definitely try all of them. the only problems on my rom is google maps is being a *****, so you'll have to use sprint nav. everything works though. it even has pretty much all the features from htc legend on it. damages' rom has practically everything working on it too, and probably may be a bit more stable, though that depends on what your standards are on stability. The only way to find out what you like is to try them all out, imo
Fresh 2.0b2 daily for me. All are good but this one just "fits" better.

IMO Fresh 2.0b is the fastest. The downside is no video camera. In use it responds the fastest to everything.
Damagecontrol V1 is pretty damn impressive. I'll probably use this until the official 2.1 rom gets chopped up and a custom rom gets made.

amen to that :]
i was using pancake as my daily until damage v1 came out. its sooooo smooth and its practically perfect.
i cant wait to see what the devs do when the official 2.1 comes out
The only problem I have had with Damage is that the Gallery 3D doesn't work, but most people think it is a resolution issue. Not a big deal, since we probably won't get it in the official build.
I'm using DamageControl v1 until a new Rom based on the official release comes out.
Oh and I have no problems sending and receiving mms and sms on Handcent.
DarchLegend V2. its like having a htc legend in your hands just different body
But ill take darchdroid over sense any day. Just wish it had camera with a2sd. Sense use to much memory.
Previously: Darch's ROM was working awesome...until I fumbled onto the NAV issue. I was in my car at the time...at least the audio directions still worked.
Currently: I am now running Damage's ROM with the Home++ home replacement (primarily for the horizontal layout while driving).
In the future: Darchdroid v.2 hopefully. It is almost worth no camera to run this now. I hate sense....
I know there are comments about froyo scattered through some threads but I couldn't find a dedicated impression thread. Would those who have the latest froyo please chime in with their overall impressions? Thanks!

Yeah I wouldnt mind hearing from someone that came from say CM5 to the latest stock Froyo. Is it better? Is it worth flashing now seeing as how CM6 is about a week or so away?
I would try it now myself, but I can't give up the dumb little things. (such as trackball wake)
I've used every CM version and every leaked version of Froyo. I was surprised that the final Froyo release seemed faster and smoother than FRF83. The browser seems really fast now and app switching is great thanks to JIT. I like my FRF85B Froyo final setup right now more than I did CM5.0.8. I can't wait for CM6 though.
Super. Wonderful. Amazing. Thank you Google and anyone else on the OHA that contributed to this.
It's great. I love it. I love it even more when someone hands me a HTC Touch Pro2 with Windows Mobile on it... Microsoft shouldn't even be in the mobile business. They should leave it to the experts. It was sad.
If you ever get a chance to put your hands on Windows Mobile... do it. It will make you appreciate your Android phone more than when you bought it.

Look at my sig pic, WM is all I ever used for years. I dabbled with android with emulators on my Fuze, then finally made the jump when the N1 was released. After using it for 1 day, I was emotional.
I really can't think of one single thing I miss with WM...

I don't think the JIT would have much impact on app switching. The highmem kernel OTOH makes a huge difference. My launcher was always relaunching when switching from big apps such as the browser or navigation. Since upgrading to froyo I haven't seen the launcher restart once.

Yeah you are probably right. I just thought I read somewhere that JIT had benefits for loading apps, it might have just been for 3rd party apps because JIT converts to native code before processing (something like that).

The JIT actually wouldn't have any impact on loading times. The standard interpreted code is always run initially. It's only once the app starts running that the JIT is able to locate frequently accessed blocks of code that would benefit from compiling to native code.

I too have used CyanogenMod since I had my G1. I DID play with, and greatly enjoy the Froyo ROM when it was released by PaulObrien.
But I did miss some of Cyanogens special additions, so I went back to it a few weeks ago.
Now with the latest Froyo out, I may change over - AGAIN!

hahaha, funny you mentioned that.
A co-worker of mine approached me, and said he bought this Androidâ„¢ phone from a friend. He heard that I know about Android, rooting, apps, etc. so he had some questions for me. He hands me the phone, and I was thrilled to hold this LARGE HTC DEVICE in my hand. I haven't held an EVO, yet, so imagine my joy!!! My first time ya know so I was honored.
It was branded T-MOBILE though ... hhmm, this can't be right!!! It should say Sprint!!!
After seeing the homescreen and tapping/flicking/swiping for all of 1.0 seconds, I handed it back to him and told him he has a Windows Mobile device - NOT ANDROID, and boy oh boy, was he pissed!!!! LMAO
Poor guy!
"If you ever get a chance to put your hands on Windows Mobile... do it. It will make you appreciate your Android phone more than when you bought it."
I let him play with my Nexus for a few minutes. He offered to buy it from me for $450 .... nuh uh homeboy! This is my baby!
For thoose of you running CM6 Froyo, what is the status?
What is working, what's not working, etc...
The good, the bad, etc...
They update the ROM but they don't have a Changelog.
And if there is any other developer working on a Froyo ROM?
Everything's working there's just tiny bugs here and there
Yup everything works nicely

I don't think everything works. Camera preview doesn't work without a third-party app. Video camera doesn't work at all (at least, I don't think it does). And it's a fairly glitchy overall at the moment (in my opinion of course)
edit: looks like I'm like 2 versions behind, and that camera does indeed work now. Looks like everything's been moved to the nightlies section of cyanogenmod's forum, which would explain why I'm so far behind (not to mention the fact that I haven't had time to keep up on it due to work lol)

Yeah, everything is pretty much working now, except for the leds. There's a hackish fix that makes it workable though.
The only problem I've had with the 12th's nightly is the power control widget not being able to kill my data connection. Everything else has been flawless so far.

I ran CM6 from day one of the test release and kept it on my phone for 3 weeks and started to miss sense so I went back to DC 2.0.9, and then flashed back to CM6 after 1 week. Went back to sense to do some mods for someone and was waiting until everything got worked out. Looks like it has. I use launcher pro plus and some other apps and widgets and actually like my setup a lot better than sense. I'm going to go back to CM6 and see how it is.

Miss Sense? There's nothing to miss except for a couple widgets and most of those have replacements on the market.
I really don't understand why people think Sense is so much better. It really is not and lags more than anything else.
incubus26jc showed me how to make launcherpro look just like sense. and its really nice since launcherpro plus has the sense widgets now. if anybody wants to know how just pm me and honestly..... i love sense. it just looks sooo damn good! plus, our phones were meants to have sense, so we get much better battery life out of sense. thats why i cant wait till we get a sense froyo

Im running the 8/15 nightly and it is smooth for me. But pretty much every nightly has been nice on my phone. I may actually end up missing my Hero next month when I get a new phone. Funny thing is that the GF doesnt want it. She would rather stick with her crap ass BB 8530.
8/15 running great so far. The new google voice search and command thing is great too.
i've got the 814 nightly and it is running great on my regional carrier. i don't use the camera so that function doesn't bother me. the big thing for me is that the calendar isn't searchable.
8/15 with the google apps update running sweeeeet here!!!
Running the 0815 update with the VM Heap Size set to 32 and have no problems now that the unlick is really snappy.

Yea its still in beta but I don't have any speed issues and I don't have any lag fixes applied. It sucks that they charge you for it. Its a pretty good app as it works across iphone and blackberry as well. I recommend checking out pingchat its like the bbm version for smartphones works with bb, iphone and android and it supports group chat as well as transferring pic, video and best of all its free. Anyone try it out?
nope, mine is pretty smooth all around really. shall try out pingchat!
why pay 2usd/year when pingchat is 0/year ^^
I used it before one month until now . It's work good with little lag

I saw a lot of complaints, so thought that there should be a feedback thread, for the time being for members of Incredible boards to use this.
Here, if you can, state what alpha version you are running, if not the latest, with your concerns, joy, etc.
And the Developers of ICS can see this and make improvements on what needs to be worked on and what is working perfectly...varying from one user's phone to another.
**If mods feel that this is not needed or a complete utter waste, then you may delete it. Thought I'd help the people out by posting this for people trying out the ICS for the Incredible
^^
I think this is a good idea. However, I would remove the link to the dev thread in the OP. I think many "unknowledgable" users will simply click on that link and we may be right back where we started.
Just my 2 cents worth . . .
I agree with taking the link off of the page to lessen confusion. That said it was awesome to see ICS boot up and whatnot on my INC!!
Removed.
Also, people can post alpha version links here so people arent asking for it there.
Alpha 3 ran pretty good, less lag, imo.
I really want to see the camera functional on it, but that may take time....?
This would probably be better suited for the general discussion forum because you are looking for feedback on the development and not actually providing any development in this thread.

What gapps do you have loaded? Most likely the ones you have are not build for Android 4.0 so they won't work.

Please use this GAPPS...this was posted by "tiny" himself.
http://db.tt/OJKTipDb
I used this same one.
One thing i forgot to mention....you may get a random restart using Alpah3 w/ the GAPPS flashed...but it should be stable after that.
Alpha 3 works quite well for me for it being such an early build. It is slow, but using ADW and turning off all animations helps a lot. Google apps seem to run the slowest. XDA, Words With Friends, Facebook, and Twitter run as smooth as usual. Another little trick I've just discovered is to use a different keyboard. In some apps, it's more responsive than the stock keyboard. I hated the red lines under each word when using the android keyboard (can be disabled by turningg off corrections/suggestions), and sometimes it just could not keep up. Thumb Keyboard 4 works great though.
I have seen a few random reboots, but have noticed they only happen when I search for something within an app. If i search for someone in twitter or an app in the market, it sometimes reboots. Not always though.
So far so good. Ive been using it for 48 hours now and am loving it. I can't wait to see what it can do with everyhing functioning properly with hardware acceleration.
One request: is there a way to get the on screen back/home/running apps buttons to work so we can see what its like? That would be pretty cool to try out

I'm not that eager to get them. I'm perfectly happy with whatever I'm given. I'm just happy to be able to use it at all.
Good things come to those who wait.
Edit- I don't know if that thing about ROMs needing time to "settle" is true or not, but it seems like this one has finally settled. I haven't had a reboot in hours, and though it's obvious there is no acceleration, everything seems to be runningg very smoothly. Its not fast, but it's not unusable.
This work has really come a long way in such a short time. I'm enjoying it very much.
