hey there,
since I'm new to android like many of us here...
i think its a good idea to start a thread that will contain apps that you tried and that work for you.
please make sure to write your android build.

I just want to add a nice App to this thread which i discovered back when i owned a HTC Hero :-
Picsay
It's a great little app that allows you to add some really neat and advanced effects to your photo's, speech bubbles, and other fun things - hats, beards, boggly eyes etc
It's a really great app and one that is really worth paying the few £ for.
You can get a demo version which is what i downloaded first and then decided to pay for the Pro version.
It's worked perfectly on every Android build i've tried so far!
Finally I can use Spotify on my HD2!! Works great on Desire build v5 http://gamesquare.co.uk/desire.html
The Spotify client is free but you need to have a paid subscription with Spotify for it to work.
Brgds... /Tubgirl
I havent tried these apps yet on the Android HD2 port, but assume they will work as they do not require hardware not present on the hd2.
That said, some of the apps Ive grown to love everytime I use my Nexus One are:
-setCPU (requires root access. this app is used to set/manage your device's overclocked CPU and voltage)
-NetMeter (uses your devices LED in color codes to communicate the device's CPU utilization. runs in the backgroud but is smart on battery)
ex : <3% - off (Low)
3-15% - blue
16-40% - green
41-75% - amber
>75% - red (high)
-ColorNotes (simple notepad app for checklists, things-to-do)
-Shake em Live Wall Paper (not an app, wallpaper. uses basic law of physics to have a pile of ragdoll androids "move with the phone" in any direction. its cool to me.
-MicDroid (For those of you who like hiphop, this app is a voice synthesizer that will by default have you sounding like T-Pain --- similar to the i.am.tpain iphone app. You can set your recordings as your ringtone, etc.
- Barcode Scanner (uses you phone's camera to scan barcodes for price comparisons or to get an app from the Market)
I recommend them all, including the novelties.
I was just about to start a similar thread when I decided to look first . This is a great idea. If this can be kept very to the point and users maybe only updated their previous posts then this could be a very useful resource.
One app that I like immensely is
Handcent : it's a messaging app. Nothing out of the ordinary, but HUGELY customizable. Very nice in looks and customization.

yes,
try launcher pro in the market. its great
Some good recommendations from other posts so far! Here's a few that hasn't been mentioned:
MUST HAVES:
* AppBrain - surf and install android market apps FROM YOUR PC, keep up with latest app updates. Free.
* Astro - easily the best Android file manager. Ad-supported with pay option.
Cool stuff:
* Cubed music player - Just check the #(*$& thing out. Free.
* RockPlayer - avi's, mkv's and the usual. Free (for now).
* Gesture Search (Google) - search apps/music/contacts on your phone with gestures. Free.
Anyways, there's a stupidly large amount of apps on Android and growing everyday. Go troll around the Nexus One / HTC Desire forums and check out the app recommendations and developments there

Yeah, I tried launcher pro. It is good, but it's just a blank canvas and I just can't find widgets that look anywhere near as cool as the HTC ones. If there is a small performance penalty for getting the sense look then I will have to live with it. All the other rss widgets I have seen so far look very ... amateurish. And the HTC people widget is too nice.
Oh yeah, almost forgot - quality keyboard (free):
* Swiftkey - just got released, really good text prediction.
If you're willing to cough up 2 bucks:
* Smart Keyboard Pro - seriously worth it - multitouch, smart dictionary, pretty good text prediction.
I'm using DarkStone's HD2Froyo v1 ROM (I've tried every Android ROM except early v1-v3 Desire and Parad0XUA's Froyo build, and DarkStone's is the best so far.)

but to check, just push the left button on the dock (App Drawer) and look for an app called "Superuser Permissions" and the icon is a Ninja holding an Assault Rifle. if this app is in the drawer, you have root access

Introducing microsoft windows phone 8 new features (listed by SPIDER7 :fingers-crossed

1- Internet explorer 10

A number of highlighted features included in Internet Explorer 10 for Windows Phone:
Hardware-Accelerated Graphics. Uses your phone’s built-in GPU to improve performance when rendering HTML5-based animation or video in the browser.
Faster JavaScript Engine. When rendering webpages based on JavaScript, Internet Explorer in Windows Phone 8 is up to seven times faster than the version in Windows Phone 7.5.
Improved Support for HTML5 and W3C Web Standards. Including CSS3, SVG, DOM, XHTML, and ECMAScript. Support for HTML5 is double what it was in Windows Phone 7.5, including new support for HTML5 touch events.
A Clean UI Design. Enables you to experience the beauty of the Web instead of the browser frame.
Protected Mode. Helps improve security by constraining the browser session to a low-rights security sandbox.
Tab Isolation. Runs each browser tab in a separate process so that one poorly-designed website won’t crash the entire browser or affect other tabs.
2- Live wallpapers
3- NFC sharing between Windows Phone 8 and Android
4- Xbox music
Xbox Music has been designed to work across multiple devices and allow for a more seamless music playing experience. You’ll be able to buy music from the phone using the store and later either stream or download that purchase to another device like your Surface tablet or Windows 8 laptop.
Windows Phone 8 will allow you to see download or stream previous purchase from your ‘cloud collection’
5- Data Sense
++
Nokia Counters - similar functionality to Data Sense for all windows phone devices
6- One note mobile
you can now dictate a note and have it automatically transcribed into OneNote. Using voice to text technology you can save yourself some typing and let Windows Phone 8 do the work for you. Using this function is similar to how speech to text works in Windows Phone 7, hold down the start button to enable speech and say “Note” and commence dictating your notes. The feature will even work while the screen is locked if you wish it to, saving you having to unlock the phone.
8- New Accents
9- Rooms
These are the features available to the group you create in this application:
Room Chat Unlike with group texting, every Room member in a Room Chat session sees each other’s messages and replies, making it easy to keep everyone in-the-loop—and only Room members can see those messages. And with the new Location Sharing feature you can just as easily let everyone else in a Room know exactly where they are.
Shared Calendar Every Room has a shared calendar, which all Room members can view and update. If anyone adds an event or makes a change, it is automatically synced to all other Room members’ phones.
Shared Photo Album Rooms also provide a shared photo and video album—just share a photo or video with a Room and it’ll be visible to all Room members.
Shared Notes Rooms also make it easy to share OneNote notes, which are automatically synced across all Room members’ phones.
10- Wallet
One of the new features with Windows Phone 8 is the Wallet app. Microsoft has added a digital wallet that you can use to keep your debit, credit, loyalty and membership card information handy on your Windows Phone.
11- The Kid's Corner
Kid's Corner will introduce new ways for parents to allow their children to access content on their Windows Phone without the concern of accidental misuse. But it's not only limited to children, should you wish to lend your device to friends or the loved one for a minute or so, and wish to keep private areas of the device secure, Kid's Corner can be provided with peace of mind.

Maybe that settings is in another place because they confirmed the custom Accent colors !
Some of these features are already available in WP7.5
One note, data counters (for nokia only), Xbox muxic is the same as zune, and a few more will come in 7.8 lol.
Not really a big loss as it seems, for old windows phone users.
two new features:
1. Allow multiple mobile no.
2. Enable any languages.
see attched snapshot from MS Community forum. I do not have WP8, can anyone confirm?

update
++
12-New features for Skype
First, and maybe the most important improvement, is that Skype can keep you signed-in and reachable even when you've closed out the Skype app. Skype stays asleep in the background until an incoming call or message is received. Not only can you receive calls just like you would through your wireless carrier but staying dormant, you save battery life.
The new Skype app also automatically adds your Skype contacts to your People Hub. This will allow you to start a Skype conversation directly from a person's contact card.
Other improvements include Live Tile support to show unread message counts and/or a text preview of the most recent message and Skype notifications for your Lock Screen.
++
update
++
13-multiple select
-we can see the “select multiple” option in the gallery; which is a huge relief for many who have faced the horror of wanting to delete more than one picture (God forbid).
14-In App purchase
-support for NFC, contactless payments, deals, loyalty cards and the likes
++This feature is just for wp8
15-Group Tile will be a live tile ( like the people tile )
Another little tweak to the Windows Phone 8 People Hub has been noticed. Besides the Recent Contacts now being a vertical pivot, another pivot has been added for groups specifically, showing a similar animation to the start screen People tile.
The discovery shows there is likely many more small changes in Windows Phone 8, which, despite the emulator leak, we will likely only really discover once we hold a real device in our hands.
16- 4 Hot in one
16.1-You will be able to Search from the lock screen
16.2-Download Maps for offline use
16.3-Basic Photo Editing tools like crop, rotate, fix, aspect ratio, etc will be included in the OS
16.4-Voicemail, Email, Text or IM, Email Notification Support
------------------------------------------------
++more coming soon

17-paste in dialer
Microsoft did not allow one to paste phone numbers into the dialler. This has been such a problem that there has even been apps developed to allow one to copy a phone number from a web page or IM for example and paste it into an app, which would then dial the number.
Like with so many things, Microsoft finally fixed the issue in Windows Phone 8

Ok, thanks. However, I think the multiple mobile no. is still limited to 2? From the hotmail, now I see Mobile 2 becomes available, but still you cannot customize it, e.g. change "Mobile" to Mobile-Personal, change "Mobile 2" to "Mobile-Company" etc. or add more than 2 no.

yes easy dial and few others are great apps for WP7. Only problem for me on all of these is the fact that the tile of the app cannot show missed calls. This of course its due to limitation of WP7, not because people dont want to include this function to their apps. The way the home screen and notifications is build in WP7 would mean basically having 2 tiles for dialing and ehh, its too much. Smart dial is something I thought was very strange that it wasnt present in WP7, but I have got used to dialing from people hub.

Some of the features you missed
1) Now you can take screen shots with the phone, this was demoed long back in the first look of Windows Phone
2) Custom lens, you can have apps that create Custom Lens for the Phone for taking pictures
3) Downloadable Maps for offline Maps support.

Update
++
someone please wake me up !!! wow!! wow! and wow!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18-Dual Core Chipsets
Microsoft plans to have the latest and greatest hardware on their new phones, and that includes dual-cores and more (read, multi-cores).
19- 3 Screen Resolutions
WP8 will no longer be restricted to the lowly 800×480 (by today’s standards). Coming forth are 2 new resolutions, HD (1280×720) as well as WXGA (1280×728). The second resolution spec is particularly interesting. WXGA keeps direct aspect ratio compatibility with WP7′s WVGA screen resolution.
20-Micro SD Card support
Not having Micro SD slots was a bummer with Windows Phone 7 as that pretty much limited offline storage capacity. Most phones were stuck with 8 GB of storage (less than 6 GB useful most of the times). For an office guy, it might be enough. But start to take pictures and carry them around, store music and apps and you would soon be running into tight spots. We are glad MS addressed this petty problem with WP7 and is introducing the feature (finally) with WP8.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21-Unleashed Gaming
22-More Countries, More Languages
In their continued expansion, Microsoft highlights the number of different countries and languages in which their apps will be available.
...
Any improvement of the calendar tile?
Thanks for this thread and info!
Is there any improvement of the calendar tile. In particular, more than 1 appointment showing on the start screen tile (Such a big tile of nothingness in WP7). I'd like to see 3 or 4 appointments. Ideally the ability to control how many and from what calendar, all day or not. At present one has to achieve this via third party apps.

Daily Free App @ Amazon v1.5
(★★★ Europe, Japan & China are supported ★★★)
Introduction
Amazon Android Appstore offers a paid app for free every day.
Users in the US can check the Amazon Appstore for Android to see the Free app of the Day, and be able to install it remotely via the website. Few Android developers wrote apps to check that website and remind and notify the users of the free app.
While users outside the US (Europe & Japan) recently got the Amazon Android Appstore service, but it is only supported on the device itself, and the only way to check the Free App of the day and install it is to open the official Amazon Appstore app on the device. There was no way to have this information if not with the official Amazon app, well, not until now... this app DOES SUPPORT all Amazon Appstores, including all those in Europe and Japan, as far as I know this is the First app that does this !!!
Details
This app will show you the daily free app in all the supported countries (listed below), you do not even need to have the Amazon Appstore installed on the device to be able to check and receive the notification (in case you get notified on a device, and want to install on another).
When you start the App, it will fetch the name of the Free app of the day in the selected country (From the settings menu), and it provides a button to Open the Amazon Appstore (if it is installed), or to open the Amazon page for that app.
I wrote this app mainly to be able to check the European Amazon Appstore (Italian Store), but during development I found that I can add support for all official Amazon stores supported by the Amazon Appstore itself, which are:
USA
Canada
Italy
France
Germany
Spain
United Kingdom
Japan
China
Help needed
Currently the app UI is available in English, Italian, German and French (French is experimental), I need help translating the app in at least the main languages of the different stores (French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese), if there are any volunteers, please contact me.
Download
I attached the apk of the app, give it a try, and report bugs
You can also install it from the Google Play Store

Anybody in France/Germany/Spain/Japan using this app willing to help translate the App/Play Store listing in that language? please contact me.
Thanks in advance
R: [APP] Daily Free App @ Amazon Notifier (European Amazon Stores SUPPORTED)
Thank you for this useful app!
I've just found this thread and I would like to suggest some new feature (hopefully you will implement them).
First off all, I would really like to have more time/event options to check for the free daily app.
For example: check on boot, check on internet connection available, check at different times of the day, etc.
It is useful if an internet connection is not always available.
Another improvement would be to add a link to the app into the Google play store, useful to read a better description.
Other features, but less important, would be to add more info in the notification (original prize) and make them customizable (choose which info to show), and maybe make a better icon, I really liked the old one!
Hoping you will appreciate my suggestion, I want to thank you again for your work

Thanks YOU for using my app.
I will add your tips to the Todo list, currently I cannot be making new versions, soon maybe I can release an updated version with new feature.
I also liked the old icon, but unfortunately I was contacted by the an Amazon Trademark paralegal asking me not to use the Smile symbol or Smile in the logo, as consumers might get confused of the source of the products and services available under the Amazon mark. And as I don't want to get into legal issues with Amazon, I changed the logo.

Hi mcbyte_it,
Until you release a new version with my hoped features, I'm trying to get what I want through tasker.
For now I use tasker to detect the internet connection and, as soon it is available, checks the time, add a minute to the current time and write it into your app shared_preferences.xml.
But to make the settings change effective, I need to open your app and then close it, quite annoying...
So I'm thinking about sending an alarm intent with tasker to your app broadcast receiver, to make your app notification show.
But I couldn't forge a working intent to send...
Maybe it is not possible, or maybe I didn't understand well how your alarm (and android intent system) works, but maybe you can help me
Thank you again!
EDIT: I think that your app is checking for android.intent.action.TIME_TICK intent and not an app specific one, so It should not be possible to achieve what I was looking for.

I see your problem, but what is the reason for you not having internet at the check time?
I have my device set to turn on wifi in the morning before I get up, sync mail, sync podcasts, then turn it off, and I set my app to launch in that period, and it works just fine.
I use normal Android alarms that are set after the BOOT_COMPLETED broadcast action has been received, it reads the time from the prefs file and setting the alarm. I don't know tasker in details, but does it support simulating a BOOT_COMPLETED intent? maybe with "am" commands?
R: [APP] Daily Free App @ Amazon Notifier (European Amazon Stores SUPPORTED)
I turn my connection on at different time every day, so I can't set a time at which I'm sure I will have a connection available.
About tasker, it cannot send system protected intents, so I don't think it can send a fake boot_completed intent, but I didn't think about this possibility I'll try that!
I'm quite new to android system and i'm really curious, so I'm experimenting and trying to learn how it works!
Anyway, thank you again

Currently it is not possible to follow different stores, only 1 at a time.
as an alternative, you can watch the feeds via Twitter, I have a twitter feed for the Italian Amazon over here: https://twitter.com/FreeAppAmazonIT
while the US Amazon has an official twitter feed at: https://twitter.com/AmazonAppStore
And just for the information, today I just released a new version of the App, v1.0 with a new interface.
Hi,
Would it be possible for you to add the Dutch Amazon appstore as well? It had been released in the Netherlands as well a little while ago. Thanks!

Until recently, Amazon AppStore was available in only selected countries (Those mentioned in the first post), but nearly a couple of weeks ago Amazon opened the AppStore to 200 countries world wide. Officially Amazon operates in these countries: USA, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom.
From what I understood from their announcement, most of the world countries will use the US store as a selling point, and most European countries will use a European store as a selling point.
The Netherlands does not have an official Amazon website and store, so I cannot add an option for it, you need to check another country store where you can download apps from within the Netherlands. I would also be glad if you give feedback on how/what country were you able to select to download apps. I am from Italy were an official AppStore is already available since around a year, so I can't do experiments.

I don't have plans to add multiple stores in the near future, as I have already have plans and features that I want to add, maybe later I can think about it.
This is also because most users will not have multiple accounts, because clicking on the Amazon Store button to go to the download page will not switch the Amazon Store for you. it still need to be done manually each time.
In the Netherlands I can download the free app from USA and all European stores.
Not possible from Japan, and not from Canada it seems. The free apps are also different there from the ones in Europe.
It's the same free game in all those countries I can download from: Streetfood Tycoon: World Tour Edition for Android FREE for 24 Hours.
Hope this helps?

Since the changes Amazon did 2 weeks ago, things changed, now you can download the free app in another country.
I will put the multi store feature on my todo list...
Would you consider to add the toggle/ option to have your app only check when on wifi connection?
I ask this because I only have a small data plan with my cellphone, and forgot your app checks for a new free app of the day automatically, every day. Of course I was out of wifi range at the time the check took place :banghead:
Considering it used 1 mb of data per day for checking, that would be about 30 mb per month.
I know this doesn't sound like much to people with a large data plan, but in my monthly plan 30 mb equals 30 minutes of call time, or 30 sms. As I have a small monthly data plan, this is rather a good chunk out of it.
I'm in wifi range most of the day, so I'd love it if your app would be able to do the check automatically when in wifi range, and exclude the used of the mobile data connection? I guess more people would love that feature.
Great work on your app by the way, I get notified daily by it, it never fails!

Open source app development project: Permanent screen off for the Visual Impaired
Short summary
This is an app development project that turns off the Android screen permanently yet keeps the touchscreen and other features active and functional for the visual impaired.
Introduction & Goals of the project
There are many Android users who are blinded. And to them, they access the app mainly using TalkBack or other Screen Reader app. That also means that the screen is basically useless to them. They don't need to look at the screen yet they need to be able to use touchscreen.
This project is to create an app that will turn the screen completely off (100% off) yet let the user use the phone as normal.
Assuming that the blind takes more time than normal user to perform an action, it dramatically saves the device's battery.
The app must be easy to use and tailored to visual impaired user.
The app automatically runs with the device.
The app must be free and advertisement-free.
Background
I am the developer of the project and I recruit the interest of other developers / users as well. I am the developer of Screen Standby app, which this project is based on.
Device requirements
- Running Android 1.5 (Cupcake) or above
- (Optionally) Rooted for best battery-saving. The app works with non-root device though, only rooted device achieves complete dark
Instruction
1) Download the apk and Install the app
2) Run the app at least once
3) Select Enable app from menu
4) If the system asks for Superuser access, select always remember and allow
5) To disable, select "Disable app" from the menu and restart the device.

}
NOTE: Please read
1) Always use a screen reader (e.g TalkBack) with the app. In case you want to use your device without the screen
2) This app will permanently switch the device's screen off when it is active. To turns the screen back on, select "Disable app" or uninstall app completely and reboot
3) To uninstall from ADB, go to a shell and type: adb uninstall com.nkahoang.screenoffvisualimpair
Download
Currently the app can be downloaded from attachment section of this post. When it is stable enough, it will be ready to be released on Play Store for free download.
Source code can be downloaded in second post
If you know any Android user who is blinded, let them use the app and report. Any feedback is welcomed

Great idea. Good luck.

As the guy above me said. G great idea which actually will help some people. But I don't think that many actually blind people are going to find this app unfortunately... You have to put it on Google play and name it in such way that blind people will find it

Hello,
While putting it on the Play store is a good idea, there are a few blind folks on XDA like myself who would be happy to give this app some testing beforehand.
Thanks for posting to the eyes-free list, and thanks for developing this app!
correct this is also needs to be on the playstore as screen off or something easy that some of us can find more easily on the playstore . all of us blind people thank you for the app that hav found it but for those who cant can you please turn it into an APK installer or make it easy to install from playstore. as a lot of blind people don't know how to install zip files on android. if you can give me a quick tutorial I can explain to the eyes free list. I am a blind intermediate user of android. I do understand rooting, installing custom roms and gapps and installing apps for rooted devices but some of the rest on the eyes fre are a bit limited here so if you can give them an APK installable file it would be much easier to install rather then a zip package in which they have to figure out what to do with it.

Hi,
I sure will put it on play store once it is stable. The app is currently in development.
The zip file is for the source code of the app. I attached the apk on the very first post:

Well done OP.
You are a hero for undertaking this venture. I wish you more success.
I still might have a use for this in my Android devices that I'm using as Network Cameras using the IP Webcam app.
But I will have to test it out to see if it acts the way I need it to (I'm not at home yet, but I will try it.)
On Android 2.x I'm able to have a camera app run fine in the background or with the screen off, but on Android 4.0 and newer, the camera doesn't work completely if you turn off the screen or switch to a different app.
I'm wondering, will this app allow me to have the screen completely off (on a rooted device) but still have the camera use all the processor it needs for perfect Network Camera functionality?
Thanks.

The camera will continue functioning normally. However, you may want to consider using my other app, Screen Standby # Root, also on XDA to achieve that. This app is tailored specifically to aid the blind in particular.
nkahoang i dont know if you got my email i sent a while back but i was looking for a app like this but be able to close my tablet and plug a keyboard and a mouse into my dock and hook it up to my tv and use my tv as a monitor screens cracked and touchscreen capability are all down the drain, would be great if you could add this feature to this app so i could finally find a use for my tablet again and as always keep up the good work.:good::fingers-crossed:
I have another use that I would like to ask for. Could you integrate Tasker support? I ride a motorcycle and have a bluetooth kit installed on my helmet. I leave my phone in my pocket or a glove box and therefore the screen is of no use to me. Yet if I ask Google Now to navigate somewhere, it opens navigation that keeps the screen on draining battery quickly. This really sucks as I don't have an outlet to plug into while riding. So, if I could setup a profile to activate this app while riding and disable it when I'm done, that could help me out a lot.
hello I was wondering I there has been further development on this app.
Lots of blind users are wondering about eh app development.
Since ther is no info a bit oncerning .
I know tha you develop the screen root stand by primarly but can you also devot e some development ot he app for he blind as well.
thanks for your development efforts
Hello, Now I am using Shades app by the eyes free team at Google. That is an app published to the google play. However after reading the description in the first post I think this app might be capable of saving more of the battery juice. I have just installed it on my SGS2 running CM-10 however if this is already know I would like to ensure this is really more powerfull than the Shades app I was tallking about.
Thanks and greetings
Peter
so i decompiled the original BTNotification app and after a lot of cleaning up and debugging and reverse engineering their systems, i have finally been able to cobble together a functional version of the app.
This is a customized version of the smartwatch companion app for MTK smartwatches with a few improvements !
No spyware !
The original app had a lot of spyware / analytics in it and i did my best to try and remove all of it
(if you notice any please let me know !)
Better notifications !
The icon that comes with notifications now has black background instead of white , gives better look to watches with black UI
more detailed notifications with more actionable information (like message text etc.) and notifications works with more apps !
can use standard notifications by enabling privacy mode, works exactly like the BTNotification app
Can use front camera for your smartwatch remote camera
just dial a call to the number 00*001 from your smartwatch or phone (the call is automatically blocked )
just call it again to switch camera to rear camera again.
Can open any HTML app / link on your smartwatch with the remote camera
just need to dial a call to the number 00*002 from your smartwatch or phone
call 00*003 to stop opening the app and switch to camera again.
[ by default this opens an analog watch, change the link in the app to open something else]
codes supported currently
switch camera = 00*001
open HTML mode = 00*002
camera mode =00*003
find my phone feature
the phone now vibrates and even if silent the phone will ring !
Release Notes
smarty V1.0.apk
changed minimum sdk version to 16 from 20
Smarty v0.1.ds.apk
uses dual signature v1 and v2
try this if getting "app not installed" error
Missing Features
Can't block certain apps from sending notification yet, looking to add this in soon!
test it out and see if you like it !
the app requires permission to notification and accessibility service simply for allowing both types of notifications.

does the app show that the watch is not connected even if it is? if yes then try this, turn off bluetooth and click "restart service" in smarty app, that should automatically switch bluetooth on and try to connect to the smartwatch through the app.

Today, I checked this option again and does not works. I restarted application and bluetooth on my twice devices. It does not works. It is not bad for me because I do not use it. I only tested it and reported to you as appreciate your works. For me this is application is brilliant and works in 99%. have you tested the front camera mode or html mode?
there could be further development on those and we might get basic apps like Google Maps to display on our smartwatch!
I am glad that the app is helpful for you, but can you check and tell me if the "find watch" feature works in the original BTNotification app, in that app it is called "Looking Watch", because if that doesn't work then your watch doesn't support this feature and we might have to trick it into playing sound.
thanks!

Hello,
the application seems to be great but most of the pages in html mode do not open/appear at all. Is it an issue about memory (clone watch has not enough of it? Can i delete application that does not work anyway, like fb or sleepmonitor?). Sometimes says camera launch failed or just shows a blue square. Some pages would appear but first the 'accept cookies' layer pops up so can't see what's behind. Sometimes the bare/empty background appears (ie flightradar24 a grey background without planes etc.)
Anyway thanks in advance and well done so far, hope to see improvement soon...

you can get rid of the accept cookies prompt by accepting the cookies on your phone (in the smarty app itself), the web-page is loaded on the phone itself and streamed onto the watch hence there is no memory issue, but also there isn't really a way yet to control the web-page except the settings in the app itself , the biggest issue isn't memory but that the screen size is small to the point that many websites just don't support it well enough.
the feature is mostly intended to be used to develop our own simple web-apps that are designed with the screen-size limitations in mind,
however a few mobile versions of websites may work!
cheers!
Prashant

I have put no ads in the app, and in my use of it have not experienced any either, could you check if there is some other application that may be responsible ?
And to the other posters, unfortunately I have not been able to work on the app any more since the last build and so the blocking certain apps feature isn't there yet
VIVID is a personalized launcher to offer best experiences while you're driving. It's designed neatly and beautiful, and the most important is very intuitive and easy to use. Here are the major features you're going to find out in VIVID:
* Split home screen - It applies a split home screen for the most important 2 features while you're driving, Maps and Media, so that you don't have to jump back and forth among apps. And you can also easily access to the recent apps from the bottom bar.
* Navigation - Google Maps, Waze, Amigo, iGo, no matter what navigation apps you're using, once you used it, it will stay at the bottom bar as your default Maps app.
* Media - Highly customized UI for in-vehicle scenarios, and it's compatible with any standard media browse services, e.g. DAB-Z.
* Phone - Integrated with HCT and ums512_1h10_Natv Head Units, and highly customized UI for phone calling, it's simple and easy to use!
* Hardware Integration - Integrated with HCT and ums512_1h10_Natv HUs, you can use native radio and Bluetooth call, music, and even SMS

So you mean Google Play, right? Since we don't support Hindi yet, we didn't enable it for India...

I'm sorry for that i didn't know its support only HCT i try it in csn2_d mcu
I personally don't recommend this launcher. Perhaps it's because it is only 'supposed' to work on a PX5 and PX6 but I tried it on a different head unit and found it to be incredibly invasive. It renamed the Bluetooth device to 'Vivid', took over a whole load of things and just ran pretty poorly. Perhaps, as you say, it needs integration with a custom ROM, but boi, I wonder what you're giving up when it asks you for so many permissions.
I downloaded it but it required me to register to use it so I just deleted it then. Looks nice in the pictures, but I don't think it would give me what I really want. A different phone/radio app
I think that since the app has an inflammatory "best launcher" title, people are noting invasive/unnecessary permissions and the Play Store registers it as the initial release, the app might have ulterior motives in the background.
Purely speculative, but very worrisome.

It can support Bluetooth and radio for HCT head units, but you can still use all other basic functions.

Not sure if you noticed you can ignore the registration by clicking next button in registration page. Do you have any specific features you're looking for?

Yeah, still need to optimize around asking for permissions, we shall only request that when we really need it. But you can trust that it WON'T do anything bad, and we're making it GDPR compliant.

Thank you for the nice launcher. I just installed and haven't got time to explore further the usability.
I navigated with google maps and waze, the main interface left screen did not show turn by turn navigation, only show the map of the location i was in. For navigation, i have to open the navigation map on the foreground..
Is this normal because Malaysia is not currently supported? Well, most Malaysian read and speak English, why not make it available for Malaysia too?
Thank you once again.
I also saw it in Baidu Post Bar. This is a good transmitter

We're going to show next turn info for Google Maps and Waze, while we can't draw the route on the map, since Google don't allow us to do that.
Will add Malaysia right away.

Thanks for your report. Could you please give me more info about music and nav can't be supported? For radio and Bluetooth, we need to reach the system supplier for technical support.
