Just checking if my HD2 has a problem. When the weather is cold, or snowing and the snow effect slides down the bottom right hand side of the screen, a line appears from the top of the snow all the way across the phone.
If running the same weather from the weather demo, the problem doesn't happen.
Anyone else getting this?
Can't say I do...
You can upload a ss so that we can see what exactly appears...
I have one stripe and one band at the top right area
yes i have the glitch too
Copy that, the line is here too...
I hadn't noticed it before but yes I have it too!
Me too ...
I do also have this issue in 1.48 ROM ... also had it in 1.43
I can notice it on mine too, not really a problem though it's barely noticeable.
If it bothers you that much move somewhere warmer & dryer.
Okay - I know I may be being a bit dumb here, but I can't actually see what you're talking about.
Glitch confirmed. Also, try to remove all the quick links from the top line, and you'll see that the glitch is gone, and the graphics are being rendered properly. (tested with roms 1.48 and 1.43)

You can´t see it when the screen is idle, but only during the animation.
The darker your background image, the more visible, I assume.
It´s also there in the 1.61 ROM, btw.
dammit I see it too, but it's kind of hidden by the clock. I can see a little vertical glitch above the clock and the vertical one just beneath the calendar.
+1 here.i heve noticed this just today before reading this post.
Oh no! Everybody scream "REFUND!!"
ad me to the list too!! lol a vertical line, and a horizontal one... boooooo!! lol!

I can see what you mean now - the really thin white lines that seem to be along the left side of the top-right snow image, and the top side of the bottom-right snow image. I definitely don't get them on mine. It looks like it's something to do with the snow PNGs not rendering as transparent correctly. Maybe a manila guru can find out where those images are and ensure that there's no edges on them?
Yes I have it too
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this same problem. When on a white screen like a Google search or aldiko, where the text is displayed portrait mode to the left and right of where text is displayed there are like faint bleed lines where the text is displayed. I tried with brightness all the way up and for the most part they go away but around 50% brightness if you look closely I can see it. Do any of you see the same thing. Just wondering if the amoled screens are like that the Samsung behold II is like that. But godly enoguh in landscape I don't see it. Just portrait. Just hoping nothing is wrong with my cool new phone.
Here are 2 pix of what I see
http://tauruspc.net/pix/1.jpg
http://tauruspc.net/pix/2.jpg
And a better one. Just look to the left and right
http://tauruspc.net/pix/3.jpg
I *JUST* answered your question on google support lol
I have the same thing but mine is definatly not that easy to see.
I just checked and i cant see what youre talkin about so i guess my answer is no
Talk about ironic timing. Weird will look then. And the weird thing is on xda page I don't see in Google support I do. LOL.
Also, I am using Dolphin Browser not default so that may be in play I'm not sure, try downloading it and see if you have the same problem maybe.
Yeh I will do that mainly seems with just black on white portrait mode like Google support. Not xda though.
Wonder if it has to do with power consumption. It takes more power to display white pixels. With the black on the same line maybe those lines with text are consuming less power on the line making the rest of the LEDs on that line of the matrix receive more power, making them brighter?
I tried for about 10 minutes to make that as unconfusing as possible lol
Makes sense. Weird only on portrait not landscape. but just spoke with HTC and they say that haven't heard of any problems like that and can send this in get a problems like that and can send this in get a temp one while they fix it and then switch around again
haven't seen much improvement setting manual brightness either.
I get the same thing, I think it is simply a scaling artifact. When you double tap to zoom the lines are no longer visible.
You can see this effect in the boot loader, but only adjacent (the right of) to where there is text at the left. if you look down where there is no text, and just white space, the ghosting lines across the white are not present.
either way, doesn't really bother me, you really have to look for them to see them.
Yeh double checking I see it there too. So yeh just not me then. Probably just amoled tech. the kind of blinky static lines is what bugs me. Don't happen that often and still kind of have to look to see those but since I have been using heavily since I got it about every 4- 5 hours I see where it gets like static lines horizontally about one pixel think blinky faintly in random spots all over the screen but kindof like static or noise from chip shielding or bad power frequency.
Hey didn't really read anything abouth this, but the os part of the phone from samsung is really getting to annoy me. It's pretty ugly and doesn't look good...
I am wondering if I am the only one with this. Is it the screen or is it just not well made? Because it also looks like some banding.
I will give some examples but you can see it everywhere...
Like the battery icon when your phone is off and you are charging, wtf is that? It's banded like wth...
Also these two next examples are bad. Can you check if yours is the same?
It seems with a screenshot it's pretty normal on my laptop screen. On my phone it's not like that. How are these examples with your phones??
In this first pick, look at the grey from every different alarm. On my phone it is very banded!! Not smooth at all like this picture, some pink lines in between and stuff...
Here you should lok at the grey of the keyboard. And the green telephone button. Doesn't look smooth in my phone.
I also have a question abouth, some burn in? When i pull down the pull down menu/notification bar, and I watch the bar where your thumb is up, it chancges slightly in color i noticed. When i look closer, i could see that what is behind the bar is visible for abouth 10-15 sec and than it fades. So i could read the word contacts pretty good, when i pulled it all the way down, so it's kind of a burn in for sometime? Is this normal and can ohter people check this on their phone? Thanks
Yes I agree it's pretty ugly, use go launcher, go contacts and go sms pro, much better looking...

Yeah ok, the look is something else, everybody has it own taste.
But i was talking abouth the banding on the grey of the numeric keyboard, and the alarm for example...
At these screenshot they look pretty normal, but on my phone they don't look like that...
So is it the screen that make them look like that???
Do these things look the same on your phone screen as on your pc screen? Or do you also have banding on these things?
PC screen is not the phone screen stupid to compare them .
For what is worth I see no banding on Dialpad on phone likewise ringer volume .
jje
There is a topic about the banding, I think it's a software issue it probably doesnt use 24bit color depth, just use go contacts/dialer

Yeah i know it's stupid. But you should think it is optimised for the phone.
On the dialpad I see banding on every number's grey "button".
And it is not the ringer volume, that was an accident when i made the print screen, I accidently pushed the ringel volume at the same time.
It's the grey from every alarm, very banding on my phone...
So if you don't have it, my screen is defect?
So if you don't have it, my screen is defect?
Factory reset first to clear any problems .

I am sure the screen response will loosen up over time. I noticed too initially but it's all okay now.
I remember first two weeks of my tv was almost painful to watch while the pixels caught up with the action. Maybe oled isn't much different to lcd in that respect

Got things working well and quite impressed with with NC and CM7 nightly with D's OC kernel. A few things ellude me?
1. Can someone please detail how to boot into CWM. I press and hold power + n for 8 seconds, and then release n, then release power. Nothing. What should I be seeing?
2. Long time Launcher pro user on my Epic. Does it work well on nc? Seems like icons are small and I need to add more rows and columns. Do must people run stock res or alter it somehow to make more readable?
3. Soft buttons seem a little small. What's the best app to make usable soft keys.
4. Maybe some of these display issues are better with a theme of some sort? Might try one... what's ur fav? Don't really care about fancy...just something that makes navigating through android more forgiving.
5. Playing around with D's new volume app. Seems like that will become standard equipment. Any other "must have" apps/tweaks?
6. Phone/sms... how usable is this thing for making calls/sms? What apps/accounts work best?
7. Have about an inch and half row of pixels that seem weird. Most noticable while sliding up the notification bar...thought it was a scratch at first...kinda greenish looking and thin. Is that common? I could go back to stock and get replacement... bought a week ago. Barely noticeable...
Thanks.... just trying to get this thing set up sweet for my son. Might need to go get one for myself!

If you have it flashed to eMMC from Rom Manager, then you should boot while holding both buttons, after a couple seconds, then release power only and continue holding n till you see CWM appear.
2. Long time Launcher pro user on my Epic. Does it work well on nc? Seems like icons are small and I need to add more rows and columns. Do must people run stock res or alter it somehow to make more readable? I've used it everyday since I have had my NC. It is very quick and I have had no issues with it. Customize to your hearts content.
3. Soft buttons seem a little small. What's the best app to make usable soft keys. The CM7 tablet tweaks from mad murdoc included in the ROM are very very usable. You can change the dpi from stock 161 to anything above, instantly making everything larger.
4. Maybe some of these display issues are better with a theme of some sort? Might try one... what's ur fav? Don't really care about fancy...just something that makes navigating through android more forgiving. I like and am currently using Purple Punch by Upward Spiral. List of his themes here. These are also available to install straight from the Market.
5. Playing around with D's new volume app. Seems like that will become standard equipment. Any other "must have" apps/tweaks? I always choose to install Cachemate for Root Users and Adfree and adbWireless pretty much instantly on any new rooted android device. CPUspy is also a nice one in that it lets you see if your Nook is actually sleeping or not.
6. Phone/sms... how usable is this thing for making calls/sms? What apps/accounts work best? Calling is unheard of I believe. Texting would be easy with Google Voice or another "textfree" type application
7. Have about an inch and half row of pixels that seem weird. Most noticable while sliding up the notification bar...thought it was a scratch at first...kinda greenish looking and thin. Is that common? I could go back to stock and get replacement... bought a week ago. Barely noticeable... It was an issue of just a line of missing pixels in the Notification Tab. Nothing to be worried about. It is not there in newer nightlies.

Answers in bold, hope it helps. Other forum members will probably add their say in.
Two things I will add:
1. I use Launcher Pro daily on my Nook Color. I think its almost a must with its ability to set so many icons in a row (in the paid-for version).
2. The issue with everything being small is due to our screens having a low natural DPI (160). A tablet like a Galaxy Tab is set on a much higher DPI (220+) for older eyes. Since your son is using it and not you, let him try it out with a low DPI before you mess with it. If you still want to increase it, use the LCD density program from the market.

Thanks..
1. I played with ADW for a bit, but went back to L Pro. I had to use my paid version to make some widgets fill all the rows and columns I made. It really is versatile...
2. Thanks, I'll def look for LCD density in market and give it a try.
Thanks for the answers above.
1. Yeah all is on eMMC.. I've scene the boot sequence described so many different ways. Will try yours!
3. Will try the DPI adjustment
4. Will check out Purple Punch theme. Looks Cool. Learned about Theme Switcher app that came with CM7, and tried the Honeycomb look.
5. What is Cachemate? Love cpu spy, and my nc is sleeping like a baby!
6. Can't seem to get very far with GV texting. In the setup It seems to be looking for a phone?
7. Updated the nightly and the row of pixels is still there. I can still see it besides the notification tab. Think I'm going to try going to stock and see if I notice it.
Thanks again!

The pixels is next to the notification tab? You should take a picture of that. Could be a hardware problem.

It's a horizontal line about 2/3 of the way up the display, starting about 1/3 of the way from left side. Very thin, and about 3 inches long. Slightly greenish tint and brighter toward the left. Most noticable on black background (like when sliding upt the notification bar). It's even noticable from CWM (when I'm able to boot into it!)
btw the key combination u mentioned above boots into uboot or something I know nothing about!

Definitely sounds like a hardware issue, as in it could be a line of hot/stuck pixels. I would restore to stock and see if it is still there, if it is, take it into a B&N store.
And yes, the uboot is/was a new edition to the nightlies not to long ago. It makes dual boot's and booting to recovery really easy. To boot into recovery make sure to select
Boot Device: eMMC
Boot Mode: Recovery
Boot now
There is just a simple key press to boot right into recovery, but I can't say I know it exactly.
Just upgraded to XXJVT courtesy of Samsung Kies on my I9000, and, ugh. Black Notification Bar, home screens that wrap around, 1 > 2 > 3 >1 and horrible menu scrolling (which I know is because of stupid Apple).
On the menu front, how does stock Google scroll menus?
But the Notification Bar, it is supposed to be black? I think it looks hideous.
Yep, the notification bar is solid black, which I also thought was pretty hideous. For the home screen scrolling, you can solve that with a launcher app. I highly recommend GO Launcher Ex or ADW Launcher Ex.
If you're not feeling the look and feel of the stock JVT ROM, you could always try out custom ROMs like CM7.1, MintBerry MIUI, etc.
Don't see how home screens that wrap around as opposed to stopping at the end can possibly be a bad thing. Makes it faster when to go from one end to the other.
How is the menu scolling? Is it that glow effect when you hit the end as opposed to the iPhone-style bounce?
Custom ROMs are the way

That's the way, the horrible glow effect. How does stock Android do scrolling?
When I was looking at Android Handsets last year, the thing that disappointed me about the stock versions of Android, was the poor poor camera functionality and lack of recording time. Has this been addressed in current Android stock?
