No Camera or Flash? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I am running Miri's 17.6 rom and the 2.12 radio.
Froyo rom with latest cotulla kernel (25/7).
All running good however have just noticed that the camera or flash does not exist.
On boot it used to flash and now that has stopped.
HTC Flashlight prog doesn't do anything
Camera is now a blank screen. Can't get anything
Is this common?

Its a ROM problem, the camera and flash is working for me on the LEO froyo 1 by Dan1J3l ( the one based on nexus one without sense ) Its only 3m pixels and video doesn't work yet, but the rom is running great with latest cotula zimage 25/7

I also missing flash, but have camera with 3 mgpx.
desire v5
zimage /25
energy rom latest
radio 2.12.50.02.02

my camera and flash work on froyo
blank screen no flash on desire
camcorder not on either but don't use anyway
energy rom 21/7
cabledet zimage
original roots

I'm using Elegancia ROM and XTarantula's Eclair Andriod build, working camera with flash AND video recording.

No flash but Camera works. Camcorder works but can't seem to shoot any video yet (optical ball missing!)
Desire v5
Energy ROM 21st 23xxx build.
there are 2 camera apps (android) which create great effects and is making our HD2 camera really stunning. loving them!

i have the camera working desire v5 but flash don't , i use stock rom 1.66 radio 2.10 , and i haven;t inistalled hspl till now , it is not necessary like what is said in the guide

Issues with installing Android 2.2 on my HD2

Hi everyone,
I need help with android on my HD2. I put on my HD2 the Android 2.2 OS but there is no sounds and calls have robot like sounds (can't even make out words that are spoken). I have been having the same problem no matter what I do and how many times I redo the installation process. I even installed HSPL3 and went from a 2.10 radio to a 2.08 radio still the problem persist. And yes i did tap on CLRCAD before taping on HaRET. Someone please help...
The Robot Voice is a known issue. However, some cooks have fixed the issue in their custom ROM's. Why don't you check them out.

x2.
certain rom+radio combinations are better than others in terms voice call quality. e.g., chucky rom+latest radio works good with mattc's froyo sense, miri's rom seems to work well with darkstone's builds, etc..
I went through most of the threads of there but in vain

You just have to experiment, or look around in user's signatures, and see what build combo's they are using.
i've tried this so many times to no avail, the sound is very low plus i get tke robot voice and after the second call it does not sound anymore. Also there are no ring tones, everything works but the audio. This is what I'm running:
Froyo Stone with sense, my radio is 2.10.50.26 everything is in the SD card, also how can I access the sd card? Thank you so much for any help you cab give me.
well ill give you my tip on how to resolve your problems. i did this to my phone and now i can run android FLAWLESSLY on my HD2.
1.go to tmobiles site and download the latest STOCK rom for your HD2.
2. run the program to install it so that you have the newest stock rom on your phone.
3. install HSPL 2.08 and MAKE SURE its HSPL and not SPL.
4.after installing that, install a custom WM rom of your choice(im using the WM bare bones by NRGZ28)
5.then install a new RADIO rom( i am using the Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2)
6.download and install the ANDROID ROM of your choice(i am using MATTC's NeXus one 2.2 OTA operating system)
7. reboot after you finish installing the android and it should work great! i havent had any robot voices/SoD or screen freezes and i have been using it for 4 days now and i usually get about 12-14 hours of use out of a full charge.
let me know how that works!
This has been talked about MANY times already. Android on the HD 2 is kinda like a learning a new recipe, you have to try different things till you find something that works for you. Did you know there is a whole forum dedicated to android on the HD 2? Really there is It is HERE
It does not work with all ROMS. You have to find a ROM that is compatible with Android. Omega's latest ROM is compatible.
Hey man you are a life saver. Tried what you did and my HD2 is working. The only thing I have found is when I hook up my bluetooth headset it somehow corrupts everything and i have to reinstall the rom to get everthing else working. Thanks again

Few differences.
I have chuckyrom light and froyostone (8/7/2010) build.
Its a t-mobile phone.
When I had the 2.10 radio, the build froze constantly. I couldn't use it. As soon as I changed to the 2.12 radio mentioned above, I haven't had a problem since.
I'm going on nearly 2 weeks and it has performed flawlessly.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
same here
I have same issue with robot woice, just like from videoclip Black Eyed Peas
I think the combination one month old Duttys ROM and Foryostone2.2 Android image is the reason. Radio ROM is the latest. Therefore I think every chefs WM ROMs has to be modified to be compatible with currend Android port developement.
Also I have very fast music player, everything sounds like Smurfs and battery drain is very extrem.
But battery drain is common for every Android ports, as I can see at forum, so until this issue will be resloved it is just for fun not for the real usage I hope developers who spend a lot of time with porting will have luck with that soon

What kind of audio issues you're talking about?
I have used radio 2.14.50.4 comes with stock 3.14, but it gave me some echoes with some builds, then I reverted back to 2.12.50.02 and didn't any problems with it.

Ok, I will add this to the list.
Audio issues
I dont know whether it is audio issues or due to signal interference, this is what i did and found out
1) i installed the miri rom that froyostone recommends and the radio 2 14 50 04, i called my friend who was in the same house (with my home wireless on) there was a lot of echoing as soon as i turn the speaker mode on on either phones(other phone is samsung highlight).there was minimal echo present when i did with speaker off.
2)i flashed the new energy rom standard build and installed the radio 2 10 50 26 , and the froyostone 3.1 android build and called my friend who was at home with home wireless on.there was minimal echo with both or either phone speakers on when calling but none with speakers off. Then i did the same after my friend returned to his home and i called him from my phone(hd2) with either / both speakers on there was no echo on either ends.
Conclusion i dont know why i was getting the echo in my house, is the us version slightly different in hardware other than the rom/ram on it. Or the radio signal frequency interference, you can try this at home and please let me know what happens.
I dont know whether darkstone uses us hd2 or non us hd2.but the
energy rom is highly specific for us hd2 model ,i dont have any issues with it now.
US HD2
I think it will be good for all us hd 2 users to use the us hd2 specific roms for android testing for better results
I tested many Android ROMs... as some one already said.. some builds has robo voice issues.. so you can't say that all android builds are OK with TMOUS
Keep testing and update the thread
I've tested these two builds and are working superb!!

It seems as if every current build works with TMOUS 3.14 - this thread is obsolete
Obsolete list? t-mous stock ROM still having issues with new android builds.
ROMS tried and failed due to robo voice:
hyperdroid1.7/CM6-michyprimaR11
mattc LEO+froyo sense 1.8
HD2ONE0.3.2/CM6.1
bangstersv.1.5
Currently running successfully on stock t-mous ROM 3.14, 2.15.50 radio, HSPL 2.08, 8GB class 4 microSD :
M-Deejay froyo sense clean v. 2.4-kernel MDJ S6.1 with the green camera tint fixed with M-Deejay's desire based build.prop.
1. format your sd card to fat32. Copy the android folder to SD.
2. unload all today plugins including sense.
3. turn off voice command in settings.
4. reboot, run clrcad.exe and haret.exe as soon as possible after boot up.
I manage 4-5 mah draw in standby, 12-14 hours of use with normal usage (30 minutes of calls, 20 to 30 SMS, 30 minutes of web browsing). If you wait too long to run clrcad.exe and haret.exe, the minimum power drain was 54 mah in standby. YMMV

Does Android Work With New 3.14 Update?

I am thinking about updating my phone to the newest update from tmobile 3.14.... but does anyone know if any android builds work on it...
am using cmyfroyomoostone.bluetopia.v.0.3.1 with the new tmobile stock rom 3.14 and so far so good all works will also calls
Works great with any Android for HD2, I've run several of them. Before I had to run a custom ROM or an old stock ROM rather than the latest stock, but T-Mobile fixed the Android compatibility in 3.14. That having been said, I might be using a custom ROM soon, I like cookie's home tab and some of the chefs seem to be better at getting it really nice than me. ;-)
yup, I just installed android on my hd2 yesterday with the 3.14 update from tmobile and it is working just fine
it works, but i think the radio included with the update drains you battery pretty fast... i would go for a energy rom with 2.12.50.xx.x radio and phireMOD skinnyEVO v1.5 and if you dont want the overclocked cpu upgrade to latest kernel and it works fantastic,,,, try and youll see,,, mms, sms, and everything... >
Works awesome
i am running on completly stock with 3.14 update... battery life is ABSOLUTLY HORRIBLE THO!!!!!!!!!

If you are interested in Sense 3.0 GB 2.3, I would recommend either Angeldeath's or Dungphp's Roms. Everything works in both with the exception of the camcorder and some minor graphic glitches.....

Yes, I'm sure they are stable. I have been switching between both of them for the last month. I am happy with both Rom's. The camcorder issue is an issue with sense 3.0 roms on the HD2. The 3rd party apps can make it work but it will lag a bit...
WHEN and i mean IF my phone gets fixed, im switching up to boyppc ginger sense..I hear good things about it! anybody running his rom and what version? sorry for TJ'ing
Is there any newer version to gingerbread that can be installed on HD2 ?
Like android 3.1 or 3.2 ?
3 is honeycomb which is for tablets

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 this one seems pretty stable.
If there will be an update of android for smartphones, i think it will be 2.4 and 2.5
2.3.5 is on it's way to the nexus s at the moment and cyanogen is qlready trying to implement it.
Stable versions where all is working are ndt miui 20.1 or hd2ginger or ndt ginger or hyperdroid ROMs. But most cm7 ROMs have higher battery drain than miui or stock ginger ROMs.
I am trying to flash teh steps in your link, but after I run ROMUpdateUtility, nothing is happeneing, it s always showing 0 % ...
any idea what to do ?

If looking for non sensed roms, i recommend you to flash tytung's Nexushd2 v2.8 + GPS 1.8.. very stable no graphic glitch nor camcorder issue. GPC's pure gingerbread rom is also great but its discountinued since v2.6f
These roms are capable to play 720p of youtube
For the faster user interface, download launcher pro from market (the stock launcher is slow on our old hd2)
also these roms support cLK and MAGLDR

I'm new to the forums (of hd2, so new in the flashing progress)
Although, you have to install Hspl, I know from the touch diamond
I'm very sorry, but got nothing to test it on, got an HD2 in 3 weeks...
Need to wait Maybe an other member can help
