This is not a "what is the best ROM" thread
But what ROM are you using and why?
________________
Im using Dutty HG V1.1, 5.2.23544 ROM.
I started with Dutty's ROM when i had the TD2 (Topaz) and has continued with his ROM's when i got the Leo, mainly because i find it stable a clean.
Well stock 1.66 ROM.
Why: well i like the clean Sense look HTC made I have done lots of tweaks and some mods to it. But its 95% stock. Plus i run our HD2 support at work, so it helps me remembering where stuff is in the stock ROM. Untill i get my 2nd HD2 for work related stuff. Then i might install a custom ROM.
Others who will share their reasons for choosing the ROM they are using?
Stock 1.43 O2 UK
Mainly because I'm too much of a wuss to flash a custom ROM.
And O2 UK hasn't released a newer ROM yet.
Although to be honest, theres nothing more than a niggle in the messaging (started after installing a hotfix) that isn't working, and I'm an avid believer of the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" methods.
ROM: CleanEx v1.03
Why? It's a stripped down ROM with performance mods and it's lightning fast, based on WinMo 6.5 so looks stock - definitely worth a look IMO (see my sig)

Same here, and HIGHLY annoying from O2...waiting patiently...
I use stock as I just prefer the stock design etc, other roms seem to have stuff which I personally don't like.
I tweak it to suit my needs, but thats about it.
Stock 166 rom with cookies mods etc why coz i bricked two omnias flashing so now am too scared to brick my lovely phone
Stock 1.66 WWE, too scared to flash!! (although i did do the official upgrade from 1.48!)
SONE rom v1.36 because it is lightning fast, and has most of the apps removed, making it small, (thus freeing up extra storage space) and it is all but bug free (no sleep of death, finally!) oh, and it has cookies built in.
Artemis 5.0 with some visual tweaks (mainly elegance 3 & full landscape)
ROM: 2.10.531.7 Artemis 5.0 NLD
Radio: 2.07.50.27_2
Because for me Artemis roms have always worked great, and its like 'better stronger faster' at each new version, its a great sturdy fast rom, never had problems with installing or using any Artemis.
I use PIMBackup to copy over my contacts and messages between roms btw
L26V2.0 ultimate power. with maxmanila
why? full,fast and stable
I prefer a complete rom with most programs in it.
Stock 1.66 ROM for now... I had a HD and flashed it every couple of weeks, but I'm going to see how long stock can last me until I get bored and tired... Then I'll try out Miri, Dutty, and Laurentus in a month or so, plus any others that take my fancy.
+1 for Cookie's Mod and HD Wall for full-screen wallpaper.
Definitive Artemis v. 5.5. I have tried many different Roms and Artemis is the fastest and most stable.
artemis because:
- performance is always excellent (speed, stability, battery drain);
- it is very close to stock;
- it uses latest windows and manila builds (for leo only);
- it doesn't have compatibility issues with my 3rd party software;
- last but not least, i like sternas' attitude in pursuing his own philosophy and towards his "followers"
currently using the best and latest 5.5
cheers
Axlor V7 wm6.5
2.07 radio
My first custom rom on HD2 and its great, close to stock with some great apps and lovely Dinik icons! I have tweaked it and is running exactly how i want it!
L26V2.0 ultimate power.
why? full, fast and stable.
I'm using the ROM in my signature, because its the first one i flashed to and narly bricked my phone in the process not doing it properly getting to excited lol, so im sticking with this for a while lol
And now? What ROM are you using yet and why? Why did you switch to another ROM, just for fun or booring?
EnergyROM's 23549 Cookie build, latest release (March 17th).
I tried Artemis for a while, liked it, there was nothing wrong with it per se, just that EnergyROM was better, mostly because HTC Messaging is disabled by default, the Outlook that's included supports MMS, Swype is included, the way he does the UI just looks fantastic, Opera 10 included is amazing, and -- above all -- I love the way NRG does the Start Menu.
Stock 1.43 T-Mobile UK - with more than a dozen great cabs. Don't want to touch the registry, just in case the phone has to go back for insurance purposes and also because the ROM is pretty fast and excellent, speed-wise. Will wait for T-Mobile update and if it's a good one will get it. Otherwise l'll stay where l am at the moment because there's nothing wrong with my ROM ;-D
Hi everyone,
I need help with android on my HD2. I put on my HD2 the Android 2.2 OS but there is no sounds and calls have robot like sounds (can't even make out words that are spoken). I have been having the same problem no matter what I do and how many times I redo the installation process. I even installed HSPL3 and went from a 2.10 radio to a 2.08 radio still the problem persist. And yes i did tap on CLRCAD before taping on HaRET. Someone please help...
The Robot Voice is a known issue. However, some cooks have fixed the issue in their custom ROM's. Why don't you check them out.

x2.
certain rom+radio combinations are better than others in terms voice call quality. e.g., chucky rom+latest radio works good with mattc's froyo sense, miri's rom seems to work well with darkstone's builds, etc..
I went through most of the threads of there but in vain

You just have to experiment, or look around in user's signatures, and see what build combo's they are using.
i've tried this so many times to no avail, the sound is very low plus i get tke robot voice and after the second call it does not sound anymore. Also there are no ring tones, everything works but the audio. This is what I'm running:
Froyo Stone with sense, my radio is 2.10.50.26 everything is in the SD card, also how can I access the sd card? Thank you so much for any help you cab give me.
well ill give you my tip on how to resolve your problems. i did this to my phone and now i can run android FLAWLESSLY on my HD2.
1.go to tmobiles site and download the latest STOCK rom for your HD2.
2. run the program to install it so that you have the newest stock rom on your phone.
3. install HSPL 2.08 and MAKE SURE its HSPL and not SPL.
4.after installing that, install a custom WM rom of your choice(im using the WM bare bones by NRGZ28)
5.then install a new RADIO rom( i am using the Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2)
6.download and install the ANDROID ROM of your choice(i am using MATTC's NeXus one 2.2 OTA operating system)
7. reboot after you finish installing the android and it should work great! i havent had any robot voices/SoD or screen freezes and i have been using it for 4 days now and i usually get about 12-14 hours of use out of a full charge.
let me know how that works!
This has been talked about MANY times already. Android on the HD 2 is kinda like a learning a new recipe, you have to try different things till you find something that works for you. Did you know there is a whole forum dedicated to android on the HD 2? Really there is It is HERE
It does not work with all ROMS. You have to find a ROM that is compatible with Android. Omega's latest ROM is compatible.
Hey man you are a life saver. Tried what you did and my HD2 is working. The only thing I have found is when I hook up my bluetooth headset it somehow corrupts everything and i have to reinstall the rom to get everthing else working. Thanks again

Few differences.
I have chuckyrom light and froyostone (8/7/2010) build.
Its a t-mobile phone.
When I had the 2.10 radio, the build froze constantly. I couldn't use it. As soon as I changed to the 2.12 radio mentioned above, I haven't had a problem since.
I'm going on nearly 2 weeks and it has performed flawlessly.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
same here
I have same issue with robot woice, just like from videoclip Black Eyed Peas
I think the combination one month old Duttys ROM and Foryostone2.2 Android image is the reason. Radio ROM is the latest. Therefore I think every chefs WM ROMs has to be modified to be compatible with currend Android port developement.
Also I have very fast music player, everything sounds like Smurfs and battery drain is very extrem.
But battery drain is common for every Android ports, as I can see at forum, so until this issue will be resloved it is just for fun not for the real usage I hope developers who spend a lot of time with porting will have luck with that soon
I want just the stock 2.13 TMUS ROM with the proper audio drivers from 2.10 so I can get rid of the Robotic Voice. I'll even try cooking it myself if I can find out the right info and what kitchen to use. Thanks everyone for their hard work on ROM builds.
I'm trying to do the same thing too.
From what I get, you should use the 2.10 SYS packages (though you really only need some audio-related DLLs, but you might as well just use the whole SYS packages so you don't bother with tweaking) and use the 2.13 EXT Packages. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
I myself am trying to make a rom lighter than that, and have done so successfully to some level, however, I yet don't know how to 1. customize manilla to remove the tabs I don't want and 2. customize the build to determine the initial install (default start menu folders/apps etc).
Some insight would help.
I've looked at both these tutorials but none cover what i'm looking for, the irony is that whenever I ask, I'm directed by others to those tutorials....

Well I just made a 2.10 Rom with most the Stupid Transformers, and games that I don't even have on my sd card removed and a few apps. It seems to be fine. I really did like 2.13 Stock though, if I could get it to work with andriod.
I'm in the same boat I had a custom rom but I went back to the new stock t-mobile rom since it seem more stable and ow the Android calling feature doesnt work. any one found an android build that works on the stock t-mobile rom?
Roms that work with stock T-mobile
It's a number of new rom that work with the stock rom from T-mobile. I have the stock rom and with the new kernels these are some of the ones that worked for me. I using a totally stock HD2.
1. Mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8
2. Build/30.08.2010/*Subcraft 1.5*CM6 Final/Kernel; ElBartoMe 2.6.32.9 #1
No robotic voice or SOD. I ran these builds for 30 days with no problems.
Hi!
Reason I'm asking is I'm running the mdeejay_froyo_sense_v2.1_ppp build with radio 2_10_50_08_2 and stock norwegian 1.66 ROM - and everything seems to run just fine (had it for several days now)
So, then I wonder why it's recommended to use a custom rom? Do the android build have any to do with what wm rom you use? Or could it be this build runs so smooth for me because i'm using a class 4 card?

I think that the Android builds use WM differently.
My phone was a stock phone, and i tried to boot the Darkstone Sense android. This did not go very well. WM locked up, and all i could do in WM was some basic stuff. All 3'rd part apps did not work. I could not install anyting. So i changed ROM and Radio and everything now works well. So, i got hold of another stock HD2, tried the same thing, and the same happened once again.

It's just recommended because the custom ROM' are more customized to run Android without problems, but you can run android with any rom even stock as long as you have the proper Radio
The custom WM roms meant for android boot very quickly, are small files, and have custom boot loaders built in. All of this is at the expense of windows mobile functionality.
I believe that WM rom has little impact on the actual performance of android and only aids in how quickly you go from device off to booted android. All you really NEED is the right radio.
Oky, thnx...well, I went on and installed a custom rom anyway (think it was about time anyhow ), and now running the Desire HD build - running great, so guess my system/radio is what it should be now
i have been running android on my hd2 for almost 3 months and i have yet to put a custom rom on my phone all i did was put a hard spl and change radio that was it android runs fine never had any real problems like everyone else is having and if i did i changed the build
I would recommend a Custom ROM thats Android Friendly like that any issues that WM might cause to Android are gone...
BUT,
You can still Run android on top of a Stock Build...
I had android once with a Stock ROM from T-Mobile and it worked just as good as a custom one...Just Depends on your luck of the Draw...
The latest Official ROM from T Mobile caused sound issues on my Android Build so i kicked it
Im also on Stock rom, happy with with performance and stability

How is the battery life for you with the stock rom and radio?
I saw some other posts saying the android is speedy an stable with the latest stock rom and radio, but the battery life actually sucks.
Thank you
Hi guys
Received a sms message from T-mobile announcing the official release of ROM update. Check out the Tmobile HD2 site.
Edit:
Installed the update; found nothing new or exciting and now reverting back to Kumar's TMHD2 Touch Premium 2.9 WWE
For those who have flashed 2.08.HSPL to use unofficial ROMs, if you install the official release by USB your 2.08 HSPL will still be intact after the upgrade and you can go back to other ROMs with out any problem. That's what I did by reverting back to Kumar's ROM.

I am curious too about what it is for, it would be cool if it was Windows 7.
I am running Energy Rom, and Radio 2.15.50.14, so I am assuming updating would be a bad idea.
I just got the sms message too - I'm downloading it right now from the t-mobile website.
Figures - I just put a different ROM on my phone - yesterday! hahaha
i wonder why i didnt get a text, maybe because i was in android?
anyways how is it?

Still no multitouch keyboard. Is this not possible with WM6.5? I just can't understand why, almost a year after initial release, HTC has not released a multitouch keyboard for WM6.5 on the HD2. Iphone and Android have had it forever, and it makes SUCH A BIG difference!

As so many forum members have said, perhaps for a million times, ROM preference is really an art of matching ones individual needs; I have been testing several ROMs, Energy, Kumar's, Omega etc. and currently find Kumar's ROM meeting my needs. To me Kumar's ROMs seem stable and do not have many programs that the chefs generally tend to add to their custom ROMs. I like my system to be as minimum and as stable as possible so that I can add and customize it as I want.
So the best thing is to try couple of Custom ROMs and see if you feel comfortable with the version of ROM you have installed.
Also, the latest version of ROM (both Official, Custom) are generally less buggy.
For those of us who do not want to go for the custom ROMs, I guess today's official release from T-mobile should be the one we should be upgrading to. T-mobile must have ironed out previous noted bugs in this new upgarde. For the brief moments that I played with the official new release; everything was smooth and working. But as I said earlier, I have now reverted back to Kumar's ROM.
It appears that today's 'Official" release is the same as the leaked release from a couple of weeks ago.
The size of the RUU_signed.nbh is exactly the same size. The date is different but I doubt that means anything significant.
I never got any text from tmo. :-(
after attempting the update, I get 7 vibrations in a row at the tmo boot screen and then it freezes. Anyone else have this issue?
Just installed, took like 3 mins and it runs ok, they added new icons: amazon Mp3, Myaccount, Shazam and T-Mobile Help... my account and t-help icons are useless they dont do anything, still testing, i saw some improvements like faster reading from memory, now when i insert the sd card with a bunch of images, videos and music it takes less time reading them, the only issue that i got was that im unable to run android cuz it gets a weird screen and it does nothing, but if i get some problem i'll post it ok? thx!
what does the update even do?

Here's what the update fixes:
- Browsing Facebook photos is slow
- White screen while browsing the internet
- Cannot delete GMAIL messages from the preview screen
- SMS sends to the wrong person
- Twitter errors
- Cannot unlock the phone
- Cannot unlock the phone with the correct password
- No space bar on company directory keyboard
- Can’t hear Visual Voicemails
- Speakerphone stops working after using the Call Assist app to call 611

I just updated to 2.13 the other day, and I put a custom ROM on my phone that I really really like alot since my phone seems to respond better to this one with no small lag. I have a question though, if I update to 3.14 will I loose the ability to put the custom ROM back on the phone or is it safe to update and put the custom ROM back in?
hi,
I have stock ROM 2.13.531.1
i recently installed HSPL3 and radio 2.15.50.14
now my quuestion is will i be able to install the new ROM without any problem? i dont want to brick my phone. Also will i be able to install the same radio 2.15.50.14 after installing the new stock ROM.
Hopefully htc have fixed the sms bug coz everytime i get a new sms my whole phone freezes for like 5 sec. and its really killing me.
thanks guys
