hello, my MyTouch 1.2 is acting up. I've installed several different keyboards, including the "better keyboard" that everyone recommends, but im still having this one issue.
sometimes when i am typing, the input box loses focus and my last text in the conversion gets selected, like someone had rolled the track ball up or something. it usually happens when the recommendation box pops up.
i just want to know, is this a software/os problem? or is it hardware related and i should warranty my phone?

disable haptic feedback
ok, I disabled haptic feedback in the current keyboard that I'm using (the swiftkey beta keyboard). I also disabled vibrate keypress on android keyboard, and anything that sounds like vibrate on key press on the other keyboard. I'll reply again if this doesn't fix it
Thank you for your reply!

Hi,
I've had my Hermes for about a month now. On about 4 occassions I've pulled the keyboard to use it and input will not be 'received' properly. It seems the Hermes gets stuck in a 'mode'.
Some of the keys work... like at the moment I clicked forward on an email, slid the keyboard out to start typing but the letters did not work. Pressing 'Return' activates the start menu, however.
I started pressing random things to get it work: I pressed the green phone button to get to the dialer, tapped the X for the dialer to get back to the email and now the keyboard is working again. Weird!
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

If you can rule out software issues then there is a push on multi connector inside that may not be pressed in firmly!

I've had this problem sometimes. If I 'beat the phone' to it, or catch it mid-thought, as it were... Just have to be a bit slower with it. Seems that I slide the keyboard out before it has time to allocate the appropriate amount of CPU time to flipping the screen and initialising the hardware input, so it either takes a few presses for it to register, or it just gets stuck in keyboard-in mode, and I have to soft reset to make it work.
Happened on my old Hermes, not happened yet (touch wood) on my new replacement.
I seem to be getting an intermittent problem where for no apparent reason the "phone keypad" mode just types numbers.
I don't think im pressing a button of any description, and when i switch to full qwerty, it works, but if i go back to the phone keypad, it still just types numbers.
any ideas?
Anyone? any comments appreciated

I also have the problem that the phone types in X number of letters/number when typing sms without me doin anything.
There are actually a lot of bugs in the phone, hopefully HTC will fix some of them soon with freezing and sms problems.
Hope someone could help me out.
I recently installed Swype. I'm not sure if that's what behind my problem, but now if I happen to reboot my phone, the default onscreen keyboard is always in "handwriting" mode, and I have to switch it back to Swype before I can type a single message. It's rather annoying.
Another thing that happened even without rebooting (only once so far) was that I couldn't unlock my phone with the onscreen slider. When I swiped my finger over it, I kept getting handwriting input (green lines) and not grabbing the slider. Had to pull the battery to reset. Since I'm on company e-mail (Exchange), my phone always locks, so this could be a problem.
My questions:
a) can this be related to Swype?
b) is there anything I can do to "set" the keyboard permanently to a particular state (I'd like to keep Swype)?
Thanks!
Using stock keyboard i found that my typing was constantly getting words grouped together. Then I noticed that when I hit the space bar I always get the hepatic feedback but the cursor doesn't always move when spacebar is pressed. Sometimes I have to hit it 3-4 times. Anyone else have this problem.
I have the same problem, but I don't know a fix. I hate anything but stock keyboard. I refuse using another keyboard
even im facing the same issue!!!! lets hope a fix from google in feb update!!!but ive to press it twice and not 3-4 times
Huh, I've never had this problem. Perhaps try to reboot into safe mode to rule out rouge apps and see if the issue persists?
I prefer using the touch feedback sound when tapping on my screen. Now, the only thing that drives me a bit crazy is that whenever I touch the back button or the recent app button, I hear some kind of double popping sound instead of one clear pop. Funnily, it only happens on these two buttons, no where else. Tapping something on the screen is no problem. Even tapping the home button sounds normal.
By the way, I'm using the European model with the latest Nougat firmware.
I want to know if this problem is just on my device or if other people also hear this? Is there a quick fix maybe? Did it happen before in older firmwares? (I recently got this phone and I updated it straight to the latest version...)

I always use my device on vibrator and found out that the vibrator will vibrate twice sometimes when touching the buttons. What the hecc
This would mean that the actual problem is the detection of touches. I'd love to be a dev just to see how they implemented things like that one
ZTE made a lot of these hard coded stuff here and there... notif led, vibrator strength...

So I guess it's not an isolated problem ?
