Stock keyboard spacebar doesn't always respond - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using stock keyboard i found that my typing was constantly getting words grouped together. Then I noticed that when I hit the space bar I always get the hepatic feedback but the cursor doesn't always move when spacebar is pressed. Sometimes I have to hit it 3-4 times. Anyone else have this problem.

I have the same problem, but I don't know a fix. I hate anything but stock keyboard. I refuse using another keyboard

even im facing the same issue!!!! lets hope a fix from google in feb update!!!but ive to press it twice and not 3-4 times

Huh, I've never had this problem. Perhaps try to reboot into safe mode to rule out rouge apps and see if the issue persists?

funny screen problem?

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a very weird problem, with my Trinity (actually a p3600i).
When I'm using my thumb or fingers to type on any SIP, sometimes the start button is pressed even though I'm no where near the start button!
I'm not sure if it's happened when NOT using SIP.
I've noticed that it only happens when using my thumb/fingers. If I use my nails to type the problem never happens. Same when using the stylus, no problems...
Anyone know what is going on here? It can be very annoying sometimes.
Thanks for reading!
OK I just made it happen when just in the today screen.
Doesn't just happen when using any SIP...
Happens when I'm tapping in the bottom left region of the screen in portrait mode.
you are not alone
have the same problem, occurs couple of times a day, and as you noticed when using fingers. we are not the only ones, many (really!) trininty users report the same problem. finally it may result in widely known problem related to flickering start menu button and irreactive touchscreen.
i noticed one more thing: when you disable sound for screen taps from sounds and notifications menu the erratic reactoin seems to go away, not completely, though because i still manage to cause false start menu activation by chaotic screen tapping in phone mode.
read this topic, sorry to disappoint you but imho this is our nearest future

looks like i will need to send it to them for repairs
and nothing ever returns back the same, when it goes to get repaired

Keyboard has become less responsive for Xperia

the keyboard buttons have become very unresponsive..and i have to press really hard.
is anyone else having same problem?
even chinese generic keyboards have a longer lifespan.
either too responsive or unresponsive...this is really a ****ty keyboard..
I am facing the same problem too. But its soem keys that are "problematic" for me, namely, "c" "x" "," and sometimes, the backspace key does double when i only press it once.
Definitely will send in for warranty before its up end of the year.
My X1 keyboard definitely seems a lot more sluggish than when I bought it. But, I don't think it is a hardware problem, but rather something not right with the software. I even turned off auto-complete to no avail. If you are a quick typer, you can actually keep typing and the X1 will eventually catch up because it is buffering all the keystrokes.
I asume too that this problem is releated to windows mobile.
In some Programms i have to wait till i see what i am writing.
In other programms i have double writing of the buttons that i press.
I asume that the Keyboard driver is maybe broken.
Windows Mobile too is not really stable.
If the Phone is more than tree days without any reboot it becomes heavy instable.
Paintings of the Windows and startup of Programms is heavy Slow.
Only a reboot resolves the Problems for a while.
What makes me also thinking is if windows mobile has some memory leaks.
The Memory usage growth with the time even if nothing is running.
I am experiencing the same problem. When I write I either get a double space or no space from pressing the space bar...
I am experiencing the same problem... and I don't believe it's a software issue... I thought my xperia was flawless.. it's not!
I have the same problem, just recently but it with only my space bar - i have to press it a few times for it to work.... Very Annoying!
i only get it with the space bar. either it does not make a space when pressed of it makes 2 spaces.
all the other buttons seem ok
Same with me. Most noticeably is the spacebar's slow responsiveness. My x1 is ill.
I have been having the same problem. Its very very irritating. Sometimes i have to press the key very hard or sometimes its just one press and the alphabet comes 2-5 times. Its really irritating.
I thought it was a software issue and i have got R3A installed 2 days ago but the problem still exist.
The experia keyboard is useless.
testing testing testing testing.
works fine for my x1i.

Click to collapse
Same for me...
take out your battery and clean the keyboard using a air canister try running something sharp around the buttons you having problems with and blow some air to the back open area that should help out
Hey, I have the same Problems with my Keyboard. Very irritating. My X1 was once at the repair service but the Problem is still there. Now I will send my X1 to the repair service again. I hope my X1 will work fine after that.
Does anyone know whats the Problem here ? Is it the Keyboard inlay ( hardware ) or dust ?!
same problem with the keyboard.

more persons with this problem....hmm.... does anyone know what´s SE saying about this ? .....

Random button presses

My HD2 has an odd problem, when I'm typing an SMS message I get random button presses.
For example, I could tap the word "football" and end up with "foogfhdtbakhjll". This happens seemingly random times, and on occasions you can see the phone type random letters when you're not even touching the screen.
I haven't noticed this problem on anything but the SMS messaging screen (text input on Opera is fine), and when I see the issue, pressing the end call/power button to turn the screen off and on again sorts it but it'll come back at a later time.
Is it a hardware (digitiser/LCD) or software problem?
Just had it happen again, mainly when pressing the backspace key it presses V or B (or keys close to those) on the keyboard.
I've had this happen a few times on 1.66 roms and lower roms. So far *touch wood* this hasn't happened to me on 3.14 not that it is a major problem it just throws a little paddy you delete the mess and you set to go again. I usually have my device on 24/7 which probally ain't good for it could be a cause.
Thats a good point, mine is 1.43 and its on all the time too...
Try updating then dude i've not had it on 3.14 but only been using it about a week and been turning it off most nights.

Google Voice Search poping up randomly

I've got this replacement phone because of Gps and I immediatelly installed Nero V3. This rom is amazing but latelly without me activating it Google Voice Search poping up randomly. My fingers are nowhere close to the magnifying glass button or mic butoon in keyboard. Reboot doesn't help, sometimes it happens a lot and sometimes less. It could be a hardware issue where capacitive button fires itself or software issue. Has anyone seen this happenning before?

I"m having a similar problem and have not been able to find a fix. The voice search will keep popping up randomly and the search soft key light will flash a few times. After it stops bugging out, all of the soft keys won't work. So, then I either have to reboot or leave it alone for a while and then the keys will work again. frustrating.

Nexus S keyboard lockup

So I've noticed that if I leave my phone on for a long period of time. Usually for over a day that when I go to text someone the keyboard will lock up or be distorted. Such as if you try to turn the phone sideways only half the keyboard will be there and samething when you turn it back. Or the keyboard will be there but when you push the keys nothing works or responds. Sometimes the keyboard wont even be present and I can't type a single thing. I can back out of it and use my phone like normal. The only way I've found to fix this issue is to just power off the phone and start it back up again. Let me know if anyone else has a solution to this problem or has experienced it.
I just experienced this last night only what happend to me was my key presses were being registered way above or below where I was typing. Soon as I turned it off tho it went away.
