Vibrant Battery Icon Issues? - Vibrant General

Hello everyone, first post on XDA
Anyway, I've been noticing problems with my battery icon on my Vibrant. For example, the icon is still showing as if I have 3/4 of my battery left, but it actually has only 46%. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Yeah. I just installed the BatteryIndicator app. Adds an icon in the opposite corner of the screen (top left) with the correct percentage. Works for me.

Yeah its a common issue. I'm sure someone is working on a fix for it. Might want to get a battery app in the meantime.

Same here. I just use battery status. Newest update is great with percentage all the time and notification dropdown always shows full info. But it is annoying. I wish the standard battery bar from samsung would port the percentage into it too. It seriously couldn't be that difficult...

the battery icon status always full

I used this phone almost for one month and I found that the battery icon status on the top doesn't update. It always show full status even though the battery level is drop down to 85% shown in settings->about phont->battery level.
This problem just start occur from yesterday.
Install "battery indicator" to give you a better info.the icon formula vary for each firmware

The problem is the icon can reflect battery usage in my last one month but now, starting from yesterday, the icon always in full.
There should be something wrong

Battery percentage does not tally with the status bar's icon

what i mean is, i'll see the battery logo up on the status bar at 75% (3/4 bar) and think that i have ~75% amount of battery usage left.
i'll then check the battery numbers in the settings and my battery is at ~40% lol.
well i'm running a jm5 stock rom, rooted. anyone having that issue?
i'll try to run the battery low till it offs and monitor the values again.
Jup, I also noticed this, but no biggie, I think this is Android standard.
Definitely NOT defective IMHO.
If you feel frustrated by this use this little app: Battery Indicator
ye i'm using that, i was just wondering which numbers are at fault there. lol. oh well. such paradox in my status bar. thanks for the quick reply.

The way I believe it works, and I might have the percentages slightly wrong is, especially the way they get rounded:
Actual/Graph
>79%/100%
50-79%/75%
25-49%/50%
>25%/25%
So, yes, you are always getting a readout that isn't very telling and is a step-gradual reading. The time you have the most information is right around, if/when you see a change. Other than that it can be barely more telling than a sundial .
Wrong info is in the notification bar (graphic battery). I've noticed the change upgrading to JM5 from JG5. Downgrading back to JG5 reverses the situation, which means the change is in framework-res.apk.
It is a change Samsung obviously did on purpose, but I wouldn't know why they settled for the worse...

well imma try flashing to jpjg8 after my songs are done transferring. gonna check that firmware out...

Help... Battery indicator broken...

Ok, before I get flamed, I've been trying to search to find a solution to this problem. I read somewhere about there being a software glitch when you power off the phone while plugged in.
Well I did that by mistake and now my phone battery indicator totally doesn't work. The phone shows half charged even when full, even within settings. What can I do other than reflash? I tried to delete battery stats in rom manager but I don't think that will work because I have ryan zas lag fix installed. Can someone help me?

I pulled battery out and the phone still the same, ugh.

yea the phones battery indicator is off. Nothing you could do about it. I use a widget called "Batterylife" by CurveFish.
It works great and pretty accurate.
The solution is to root your phone and replace framework-res http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797
WARNING: Rooting your phone will void your warranty. Messing with the phone's filesystem and configuration presents a risk of bricking your phone, proceed with your own risk.
Just to clarify. I've never had this problem before, and its not the same as the battery indicator just being off. I'm not even getting the battery full pop up when plugged in and the settings show the actual percentage never full. I do however get normal battery life out of it regardless of what battery life shows, and I'm not just talking about the icon!
This started after powering off and then on while charging. The big green samsung battery icon popped up prior to the phone restarting and that was the start of this going on. I read about this issue on a prior thread but can't find it for the life of me, either when searching galaxy and vibrant using the search function. I want a mod, just the stock battery function as it was before.
Thanks for any help!

Did you try flashing one of the more accurate battery indicators? Check out the ones in Themes section. They have the battery % and are either stock looking or circular. That might reset the indicator.
you can also recalibrate the battery following the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765656
I'm going to try the calibration method, thanks for the good suggestions

[Q] new to epic and android

is there a way to check the amount of battery remaining, either in percent or time left. when i go to settings->about phone->status, it just says not charging, i can also go to battery use under about phone but that doesnt tell me the remaining percent or time left. if i need an app from the market recommend any?
also, is there a quick way to toggle between having sound on w/ no vibrate and sound off with vibration of calls AND text messages? again if i need an app recommend any?
thats all i have so far, just trialing this out, only had it for 3 days now, gps is spotty so far but other than that its a beast
Battery Indicator for battery
AudioManager for audio in general. I thought I remembered seeing a setting that lets you tie both call volume and notification volume to the same slider. But I don't see it right now.
On a related note though, while battery indicator is great, can you get rid of the default battery indicator so there isn't 2 of them?

Getting rid of the default battery icon involves changing the framework. This is the link to a mod that will change the default battery icon to a percentage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793805
But you have to be using a de-odexed ROM for it to work. If you ask some of the Theme'rs, they might be able to explain how to get rid of the default battery icon.

Battery bug after froyo update!

Okay. Flashed my phone using the Reg hack. It's working almost flawless. The bug i have is with the Battery indicator. It's 20% in front of real battery percent! In sometimes i freezes. Right now it's really bugging me! I've tried to do factory wipe 3 times(not working). And i tried to take the battery after draining it to zero. But nothing seems to work All that have something to do with my battery seems to be all drunk. Lol. My battery state and the f...... Indicator! Someone have the same issue? And someone have a solution?
Cheers..

I have the same problem.
The indicator always show more than what batterypercent really is.
I updated using Kies when Froyo was available in norway.
Edit: added screenshot
(its norwegian but im sure you dont need any translation)
I had this problem in 2.1 . Get a bat stat from the market. No biggy

I had the problem in 2.1 as well... I think it has to do with the touchwiz battery indicator only changing every 15% or so...
I've installed 'Gauge Battery Widget' from the market. It shows up in the status bar as well.
Maybe every 25%.
Mine is 80% now and indicator still shows max

Yep, this has been my experience as well. I think the battery notification icon only has 4 or 5 stages so will show full even if you're at 85%. I replaced the touchwiz with one of the SpitFire battery mods and now my notification bar battery matches the system percentage exactly as it has 100 stages.
here too, .. 98% after 5 hours of use and still showing as beeing full =/ (jpk)
(holy smokes, .. thse last couple of days my battery is uberly-strong!!)
What about some search ??
