Help | Softkey mappings for the Phone Dialer and Contacts ..

Guys
What are the softkey settings for the Phone Dialer and Contacts? Basically, I want the left softkey to be the phone dialer and the right one to be the contacts on the today screen.
How do I do this using the SoftKey applet?

Start reading this from post seven...
Please tell me again how does that help me .. I have already downloaded and installed this app as specified in this thread ..
But I cant find the location to the phone dialer and contact programs .. So, I am not able to set them up correctly ..
Phone dialer is cprog.exe in windows.
Contacts is "poutlook contacts".
Just find the appopriate shortcuts in your \windows\startmenu and examine the existing shortcuts.

Thanks Vijay. That's exactly what I was looking for .. Why couldnt rename it to something simple ..
Another stupid question .. How do I examine the shortcuts?
Use gsfinder/resco/total command and choose to view properties, noramlly by press and hold on filename.
Otherwise drop it into notepad!
V
Uhm, am I missing something? Why would you want to map the dialer under the left softkey? When you press the green phone key (next to the softkey) it will launch the dialer already.
Because it is much easier for one-handed operation .. it's difficult to reach down and click the green phone key .. with just one hand ..

Couple Noob Questions on my 8525

I have searched on these topics and havent found anything definitive:
1. Is there a way to add some icons to the lower part of the today screen? (near the pocket msn app icons on the today screen). Other than installing Claunch and recreating the whole Today screen.
2. Making the 'ok' button easier to use with your hands...any way?
3. How do I remove icons from the Programs section? (all the pre installed crap)
Try searching there are previous posts on these things. Don't forget advanced search options.

Like I said, I did search (i wasnt lying in my first post):
1. search results are about completely re doing the Today screen, ie: cLaunch as I mentioned.
2. Ok button solution is not something you can easily search for an answer on without some outside advice.
3. Again another vague search that reports tons of results and nothing specific to what I am asking about....
So I ask again, does anyone have any insight to these topics?
I do appreciate what you say, it can be difficult to pin a search down. If I get chance I try to look around later if someone has not answered first!

I use SBSH iLauncher to add shortcuts to the tray at the bottom of the today screen. I use AE Button Plus to make the OK buttons actually close apps, as well as to make buttons multifunctional ie I have the left soft key set to launch the taskmanager for iLauncher upon double clicking in addition to its native function. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but thought it might help. Removing icons from the program section has to be done through the registry. If you are referring to removing icons from the default start menu that can be done with the menu option in settings.
Thanks guys...which reg keys house the program listing in the Programs folder? Thanks for the help Mike, I searched a ton...so many vague results on the topics as broad as these...
Thanks again...
Removing programs from start menu/programs is a bit easier than reghacks if I understand you correctly. With file Manager, go to windows/start menu/programs. This folder contains a list of shortcuts that corresponds to what you see when you choose programs from the start menu. Now just delete the shortcuts you don't want.

Changing the shortcuts on the Wizard - bottom of the screen

I apologize if this was the topic that was already posted before. I tried searching but there was no luck at all.
Can someone tell me how to change the bottom of the screen shortcuts. By default it's Calendar (left side) and Contacts (on the right side)?
I am not talking about soft-keys assignments - but, about two shortcuts on the screen in the bottom of it. I do not need Calendar and Contacts there and I would appreciate if someone would be able to help me with this.
Thank You!!!
Actually you are talking about SoftKey assignment. Copy the installed app to your \Windows folder, reset and go start-settings-system-softkey. Then you can change the apps and the labels.
BTW youcan do this manually through the registry, but I don't remember the key off hand.
hey TNX man
It worked well - great help man!!!
Thanks again

Help with TF3D home page screw up

Hi all
On my TF3D home page, the two menu items at the bottom (the ones between the TF3D scroll bar and the soft keys) now both read Calendar and Calendar. They both bring me to Calendar.
How did this happen and how can I fix them ? (I have tried a soft reset)
Many thanks
a soft reset will not change ur key assignment. don't have a hd yet so really can't direct u towards a solution but a hard reset will restore u to original settings.
however use that as a last resort. hopefully someone w/ a hd will respond.

Iv got a feeling you have played around with a registry editor
Use a registry editor, and go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ and then change the strings for both HomeLSKPath and HomeLSKText or HomeRSKPath and HomeRSKText
Path meaning the location of the program you want to start
Text meaning the name of the program you want to start
solved with yet another hard reset
thansk to all for help

Editing/Removing Bottom Bar

Hi (I'm new here!)
I'm trying to set up my Touch 2 so that it looks and feels exactly how I want it, and I'm nearly there. The only issue I have is the bottom bar. On the home screen it current has "Phone" and "Contacts" as its default, and I'd love to either change it or (preferably) remove the bottom bar completely. I trawled through the user guide from htc.com and I've tried using the Search here to no avail so I just thought I'd ask. Any clues?
Thanks in anticipation....
(by the way, how do I take a screenshot of my phone to post on here?)
Hello,
I think you mean the softkeys...well, as far as i know there is no option to remove them but you can change them with this tool:
h__p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151
advanced config > menu > key mapping
Laberkopf
To make a screen shot you can use this program...but there are many more.......when you search
