I have searched on these topics and havent found anything definitive:
1. Is there a way to add some icons to the lower part of the today screen? (near the pocket msn app icons on the today screen). Other than installing Claunch and recreating the whole Today screen.
2. Making the 'ok' button easier to use with your hands...any way?
3. How do I remove icons from the Programs section? (all the pre installed crap)
Try searching there are previous posts on these things. Don't forget advanced search options.

Like I said, I did search (i wasnt lying in my first post):
1. search results are about completely re doing the Today screen, ie: cLaunch as I mentioned.
2. Ok button solution is not something you can easily search for an answer on without some outside advice.
3. Again another vague search that reports tons of results and nothing specific to what I am asking about....
So I ask again, does anyone have any insight to these topics?
I do appreciate what you say, it can be difficult to pin a search down. If I get chance I try to look around later if someone has not answered first!

I use SBSH iLauncher to add shortcuts to the tray at the bottom of the today screen. I use AE Button Plus to make the OK buttons actually close apps, as well as to make buttons multifunctional ie I have the left soft key set to launch the taskmanager for iLauncher upon double clicking in addition to its native function. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but thought it might help. Removing icons from the program section has to be done through the registry. If you are referring to removing icons from the default start menu that can be done with the menu option in settings.
Thanks guys...which reg keys house the program listing in the Programs folder? Thanks for the help Mike, I searched a ton...so many vague results on the topics as broad as these...
Thanks again...
Removing programs from start menu/programs is a bit easier than reghacks if I understand you correctly. With file Manager, go to windows/start menu/programs. This folder contains a list of shortcuts that corresponds to what you see when you choose programs from the start menu. Now just delete the shortcuts you don't want.

Hi. I'm using cLauncher and I'm wondering if there was a way to get things like phone settings, display settings as an icon setting on the Today screen. Going through menus is a bit slow for frequently used functions. Thanks.
There is a thread somewhere around here that deals with making shortcuts for items on your phones "control panel" I wish I could find it, but it's going to be a bit of a ***** to do so probably. If I do find it, I will let you know.

This might help.
You can use this cab to create a link to the today settings and then add it to cLaunch. It creates a link to start>settings>personal>today.
In order to link to things such as the backlight control enter \Windows\Backlight.lnk (note lnk is LNK in lower case) into the 'File Path' field within the cLaunch settings. You can also add custom icons as well - search google for suitable 32x32 icons and then convert them to bitmaps. They work a treat.
To find out other useful info about shortcuts check the following posts by vijay555: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=507575
This link does not appear to be working - use advanced search using the word 'completeness' and the user id vijay555 which will return the required links.
They are very useful and informative. Vijay555 is also a fan of cLaunch from what I gather.
cLaunch is a great piece of freeware! I'd recommend it to anyone!
I use SPB Mobile Shell and I would like to make it so "SPB Menu" comes up when I press the Start button on the top left hand corner.
Is there a way to do this?
I dont think this is possible, but why would you want to do that, a pop up menu is great in my opinion.
I recommend you to assign the spb menu to one of your hardware keys, like the camera key or something like that,
cu
It is possible - for example QuickMenu can replace the start menu with itself. HTC EnlargeStart Menu does the same. Maybe it needs some kind of registry hack.

I LOVE the SPB Menu and since I use my fingers 99% of the time on my Touch I don't really have a use for the built in Start menu.
I know there has to be a way to do this, I just hope it is a easy one.
I looked through my registry a bit but I didn't see anything that would change this.
It has to be possible.
Is there a way to do a registry dump, perform the HTC Start Menu Tweak and then perform another dump and somehow compare them to see what has changed?
With Wisbar Advance 3 you can map the start button to anything you want.
I installed Wisbar Advance Desktop to play around with when I first got my Touch. I uninstalled it because I didn't like the functionality. After the uninstall I still have Wisbar icons showing up in some of my menu's. There is no way I am going to install one of their bloated products just to do one simple function.
Hi, i am looking for the same Startbutton tweak.
I want to remove the Startbutton AND the word "Start" right to the button.
Wisbar Lite Taskmanager does remove the word "Start".
I'd like to know how this works, and somehow it must be possible to remove or reassign the Startbutton without installing WAD or WA3, a megapackage for only one function.
If someone has the skills to do this and/or write a simple program to make this happen I wouldn't mind compensating them. Either in $$ or Webhosting!
Nothing is being removed in most of these cases, the start button and or title bar is being covered up.

I don't want anything removed, I just want to change the link on the Start menu to point to something else.
bump it up!
I compared the registry with the large menu on and off and this is all I found. Not much help (for me anyway).
BIG START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"DropDown"=dword:00000000
"Enable"=dword:00000001
LITTLE START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"Enable"=dword:00000000
"DropDown"=dword:00000000

He says that it's not a registry tweak... maybe those programs relocate the title bar and put themselves in that positions looking similar with different functions... That is the way that evb used to work fullscreen (relocating the title bar, sip and taskbar)...
I finally gave in and reinstalled Wisbar Advance. I would rather accomplish this without using Wisbar but for now it will work.
Trying to create a button link to "settings" in my verizon ppc for UL, any ideas?
thank you very much.
Jon
"UltimateLaunchConfig.exe" is the app. What kind of "button link" do you want? In a UL button? or a hard button?
If you mean create a button to show the settings menu, this should work for you:
Go to Windows\Start Menu
Copy Settings
Paster a shortcut (for settings) anywhere.
create a new button using the shortcut you created

Much respect to all first and foremost. From my experience with UL, that may work for some applications located in the Windows folder, but not all. For instance, you cannot create a shortcut for the Today settings to switch up your themes, Power/Soft Reset , or even Remove Programs either. There's a slew of programs that can't be made into shortcuts within UL. It's perhaps a limitation of UL.
But there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. If one desperately wants to create /include such applications (Power, Resetting, Today, etc) with UL, one can install Mobile Shell because it create shortcuts in itself, which UL can then detect. Pocket Plus may be able do the same, but I'm uncertain.
Also, the word on the street, the next version will be 'better' and I don't have the slightest clue as to when that release will surface. I'm no expert, just a big fan like of UL. My two cents.
this answer is a little bit wrong:
1. you can make a Shortcut to ANY wm setting. example: command: ctlpnl, param: cplmain.cpl,10 (for uninstalling software) search in the other ul threads.
2. Daniel Who wrote UL made also some "smartutilities" for make calll, toggle wifi, softreset and many more, google for it. this are small .exe you can link to.
yes, i was attempting to have a button inside of UL access the settings area. I have the xv6700 which appears to have a problem with keeping UL on the today screen after a soft reset. so before I soft reset I need to change my today plugin to something else. otherwise when i reboot nothing shows up and will not load any other plug-ins. Makes it easy to have a quick link cause I'm not a stylus fan.
Thank you very much guys. would have never thought of making a short cut of it. thanks again!

Good information. This seems to be a hot topic at the moment and assume this info hasnt been highlighted before. Perhaps a brave soul will post some shortcut command params, directions/instructions in their spare time, and have them listed/located in one thread for easy like the icons. (And also some of those "smartultilities" as well).
How about game area ? my problem 's it's difficult to create all game in icons. so I would like to make a link to call all game folder as when we call it by startmenu

Well, I'm not very brave, but I knew this page existed on PPCSG.COM, so I thought I'd share it. It shows how you can create .LNK files to many of the Settings Applets. Hope it helps.

Here is a link to majority of the settings options:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340974
Just find the one you want, open notepad on your PC copy the line into notepad, with only that text, and save as power.lnk, for example, then have the button set to that link.
Any Idea on how to add a folder shortcut? I want to have my different photo albums
Is there a way to specify the appropriate ICON in the .lnk file? I have the "cplmain.cpl,26" working but it just shows a generic icon.
Just change the icon in the display tab.

Did you ever get an answer on this? If so, how do you make a shortcut to a folder? I've tried using the context menu of creating a shortcut and then having UL point to the shortcut but it doesn't open it.
Thanks for any info!
would like to know this as well.

I hadn't used this yet, but resco explorer has an option (you have to edit the regsitry for it) that let's you load folders according to command line arguments (then you can use UL to load the folder in resco straight using a command line).
you should check it out.
Hello all,
I would first like to thank all the developers and people willing to try new stuff. Without all your hard work and efforts none of us would have the phone we actually wanted with all the stuff we actually wanted.
I have a couple of questions;
1) I have been searching for a program/setting/cab that would allow the "Programs" (shortcut) screen to have four rows. Does this exist? I know there are programs that will allow the, "Start" screen to display 4-5 rows but I am looking for one to allow the "Programs" screen.
2) Is there a specific location to install programs that will allow you to shortcut them on the "Programs" screen? I have tried numerous places such as, on device in the programs folder, app folder, on the sd card in similar folders. Done the soft resets afterwords but I have not been able to create the shortcuts for IM+ and PasswordWallet.
Thanks,
Scott

1) Cab exists in apps forum. Quick search should find it.
2) Create shortcut to your desired app, i.e. the .exe file and place shortcut in \windows\start menu\programs
SK Shortcut manager is a great app for managing your shortcuts
Thanks
It never ceases to amaze me how easy things are when you have knowledge, especially shared knowledge.
I'll have to try the SK manager, but the other way worked like a charm.

Hello there.
This is one of my first posts here so again huge thanks for this site and well done to Dutty!
Have 2 questions about awesome HD2:
1. Is it possible to remove the Start button from Manila? There's no point to have it there if there are quick links.
2. If 1. is possible, is it also possible to assign Windows hardware button to something else or disable it?
Thank you for your help!
Are you sure you won't have more than 9/16/20/25 apps installed?
I have the 25 quicklinks mod, but still very far from being able to put everything there.I've made a subfolder in the start menu, the duplicates of the quicklinks are "hidden" in there, but I still have a good 15 more icons I need the start menu for.
For 2), search for AEBPlus.
You are right. Thanks for the tips!
