Hey guys, I want to disable my data and leave mms enabled.so I am going to use the app called toggle data. Since the app disables the apn that includes both data and mms settings, how can I set up a separate access point just for mms?
I just don't know what field to fill under new apn settings.
Edit: I use these settings in the 1 apn that I have.

When you use "Toggle Data widget", you will get an option to keep MMS enabled

Yes but by that it means it will not disable the separate MMS access point.

I have tried it, it still disables my MMS
Hmm, odd... Works a treat for me... Maybe it's a network issue... If your provider use the same APN for both data and MMS, then that would probably be the issue...

When you set an extra access point make sure everything is exactly the same except for "APN TYPE" simply put mms. If you did it right, the mms access point will no longer be selectable.
this method works on AT&T

Since my last thread was unceremoniously closed here's a new one with another focus.
-Are you using a G1 without a data plan?
-AND have you used T-Mobile's APN settings to set up MMS?
-AND have you recently had problems with not being able to send or receive MMS messages?
And before you post it, this is my wife's G1 I'm talking about. I have a G1 with a data plan. She has NO use for a data plan, but she loves to send MMS messages. Don't tell me to get a data plan, I know it would be a viable solution but I'm not going to do it. I'm mainly wondering if anyone else has been having the same issue recently and if anyone has been able to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't know how it's handled by TMO but in CH the providers have 2 APN setting (sometimes more) and one is for internet and the other is specifically for MMS and is not affecting the normal data usage (you pay per mms no mather if its 1 byte sized or the maximum sized)

They have blocked you from using that APN switch back to the regular one or pay for the data plan (don't be surprised if it doesn't work until you do pay for the data plan.)
i have the same problem
MMS Problem
yea i know they block because the G1 is always ceiving and sending data and i think T-mobile notice and they block it or maybe too many user are using this settings with G1 and T-zones hacks.. thanks
I've been using my unlocked g2 for several weeks now and still have been unable to send or receive mms messages. This morning, I tried downloading a picture message about 20 times, all the while driving through supposed 5 bar coverage and it failed everytime. Someone help please...

What carrier do you have it unlocked for? You have to change mms setting according to carrier.

So you are saying your MMSC, MMC and MNC settings are empty?
edit --
If they are, try these
(ALL under MMSC
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: 066.209.011.032
MMS Port: 80
and make sure the very bottom setting APN TYPE has mms in it (mine says default, supl, mms)

im having sorta like the same problem except i cant send picture or multimedia messages thru text as an attachment ive went thru all the apn setups for tmobile tho bc thats my service provider im currently running the most recent virtuos rom in which i jus did a restore back to an earlier time when i was almost positive they worked i have no idea what to do any help would be very appreciated ive been messin with this for atleast 15hrs
I can receive MMS just fine. I can use the internet, market place, etc. However, If i try to send one, it will just stay in the sending phase forever. I even tried sending one to myself with no luck.
I am using hyperdroid1.7 and I cannot get this to work.
Anyone ? I've seen fixes for other networks but not one for at&t
SOLUTION:
make sure password is set to CINGULAR1, may require a soft reset after.
I have been using this rom Moto234_Evo_Carbon_Remix on my HD2 and after I set the AT&T MMS settings, I can send msgs, you need to double check your MMS settings under msgs, and you need to check your settings under connections.

there really isn't much to be changed in the settings under the messaging app.
would you be able to double check these to see if they match yours? (under access point names)

oh wow. Thanks, I tried this before but it didn't work. I guess I just needed a soft reset or wait longer. I feel dumb
i can send very small pictures, but it seems that regular sized non cropped pictures from the camera never get sent.
That I cant help you with, I can tell you that I sent a test pic from my phone to my tilt 2 and it wasnt a small pic but a fullscreen.
anyone have any info on this?
aAnyone know why? When I receive an MMS it just says downloading and never downloads, even after 2 days. Can't send, either. This has been a problem on many android phones I've had, stock or otherwise. I'm on AT&T and don't pay for a data plan. Is there a way for me to turn off the data usage and still send MMS?
I'm running Team Whiskey's Nero v5 w/APNdroid. Even on stock I had issues.
Whoever can fix this wins a cookie. It's been an issue for years.
MMS are sent and received over the data network. You can try turning off wifi as that seems to help the sending of mms, although it won't work without data.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know that, but the apndroid feature "keep mms on" is supposed to temporarily allow data for messaging. Windows Mobile and dumbphones let me send texts, and I am signed up for MMS, just not data.

My friend has the same problem on the same phone with the same ROM, and so whoever helps me helps the both of us.
For the record, I had the same issue on a Nexus One I had.
Also I was told to check packet data on a forum but I'm pretty sure that just enables data, thus I get raped with charges.

I tried those and they don't work either. Do they work for you? I'm about to call AT&T to see if they jacked up my settings on their side. I used to be able to send MMS on my Blackjack and i don't know what's changed... my plan sure hasn't.. also I uninstalled APNDROID and I am using the ROM's "Disable Data" feature to disable data instead.
Yeah they work for me. It's just that the MMS plays as a video. I'm not sure if that is a common problem or not.

What ROM are you on? Also, do you have your data blocked too?
I just flashed Darky's universal ROM and tested to see if MMS works and it does. I've also used Bionix 1.2.1 and Trigger 2.6, and those were fine with MMS too. I don't have my data blocked.

Yeah it doesn't work with data disabled for me. No idea how to get around it.
As title above states, I cannt send nor receive any sort of picture message in CM7. The problem was always there I would just tend to ignore it since I can't find a fix ANYWHERE! But now I'm getting fed up with the fact that my phone can do just about everything except send/receive MMS messages. I've never had any problems with sending SMS messages. Here's the thing, ever since I flashed MIUI.us, my MMS messaging works both ways (sending/receiving) like there was never even a problem. But, after flashing back to CM7 (always will go back to vanilla android ) I once again cannot send/receive MMS! This is very frustrating and I cannot find a solution anywhere on the web. Any help on the matter is appreciated!

it has to be a bad apn setting somewhere because mms works perfect on cm7. i do remember a while back there was an error in the rogers mms apn but theyve since fixed it.

Try it,not difficult to change back if something breaks or does not fix your problem.
