After I updated my phone with the OTA update then used unrevoked to root the phone, I can no longer see protected apps in the Marketplace. Is anyone else having this issue? I have paid for a couple apps and I would like them back. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi,
I got my Vibrant and I love it! One question i have though is about root. I want to remove the bloatware but will I lose anything if I root? Touchwiz? Anything?
Also, if I remove the bloatware and happen to reset my phone later, would the bloatware come back?
You will lose nothing and it takes like 2 minutes to root your phone.
rooting has no downside that i know of. if you wipe those apps will not come back as far as i know
Awesome, Thank you both for the info
make sure you back up your data
If i root, will i be able to update when samsung puts out an update or anything such as that?
You will be prompted to update, but the update will break the root.

You will need to re-root and it will most probably be available before the update. I'm hoping the custom 2.2 rom will be available by then

So if i just update from a rooted one, it will just go to 2.2 from samsungs without it looking like i ever rooted?

If i root will i be able to uninstall all the crap that came with it? Make the battery run longer, and will i be able to revert at any time if i wish?
Okay i removed the Kindle, MobiTV, Avatar, GOGO, Slacker and telenav. The weird thing is that root explorer doesnt want to set it back to r/o and i had 183mb used, relaunched root explorer and now i have 253mb used...did I do something wrong?
EDIT:
Also is it bad that i went into data/data and deleted the folders belonging to what i removed?
EDIT2:
I restarted the phone and now everything force closes >.>
How does one uninstall the bloatware while rooted?

Install Root Explorer from the market and remove the .apks from system/app
Also i heard somewhere to also remove the folders belonging to the app in data/data but im not sure if were supposed to do that x_X
I was just about to go to bed, and my newly-exchanged Epic 4G just popped up an update screen asking me to update to DI18.
Sorry if this is duplicate news, but I heard that DI18 was delayed indefinitely, so I guess they're rolling it out now.
Anyone else getting it OTA yet?

Did anyone else get their phone un-rooted by the update? After the reboot, I tried launching SetCPU, and got an error message that root wasn't available & it was running in read-only mode.
I'm not sure whether I should be happy that I didn't have to unroot it first to get the update, or furious about an OTA update unrooting what was (I thought) a permanent rooting.

The word "permanent" is used very loosely, so I've learned.

I'm rooted and I still don't have the update. I got the D107 right off the bat. I was starting to think I needed to unroot to get it.

Post #3 said they were rooted and they got the update.

Epic
I've been getting prompted all morning to update, haven't done it yet though as I am rooted. But yes, it will come to you if you're rooted
Confirmed that the update is rolling out. It's best to go way of manuel update with a rooted phone though.

I was thinking about rooting my incredible and by skimming the forums i see that an update is preventing a few from re rooting or rooting in general but my actual question is when u guys are saying "new" update are you meaning the update that i received a day or so ago with the vcast app store or whatever it is included in the 17mb file...is this the update u guys are talking about or is it like a software update that i must not have recieved yet? Thx!

The latest OTA (with VCast Apps, etc) is not working with Unrevoked/ClockworkMod. I don't know if you could still root manually. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I am rooted with Unrevoked and the last OTA did not work for me. I don't think I want it enough to go back and flash the stock recovery to get it.
Hey, I was wondering if someone else came up to this bug...when i'm in contacts, they appear listed, but when I want to view one, it doesnt work. I press and nothing. Same in call log, when I want to view. I'm using stock 2.3.2, rooted, build number 3.0.A.2.184, R800i.
Thanks!
Edit: I've had many android phones, but this never happend before...
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App
I have never had that happen.
I too have never had this problem (running rooted 2.3.3, r800i)
If you have froze instead of unistalling bloat use the OTA (only if your bootloader is locked) to update your phone to 2.3.3 and see if that fixes it. OTA will not wipe your phone plus you will keep root.
If you have uninstalled anything reinstall the apks then do the OTA update or reflash 2.3.2 > root > ota.
Thanks, but if I recall right, I had this problem before, when I had unrooted 2.3.3. And now the bootloader is unlocked.

I'm a new user to Android and with the help of some threads on here I was able to root and then unroot my phone to get the 2.3.5 OTA. My problem is now I can't redownload some apps since the OTA, MLB at bat for example. When my phone was stock, and when it was rooted the app downloaded with no issues. Now since the 2.3.5 update it says the app is not compatible with my phone when I try to send the download from the My Market page. Any ideas on how I can get this and a couple other apps to download or do I have to wait for them to be compatible with 2.3.5? I'd rather not re-root the phone right now cause I'm still having signal issues and my need to take it into Sprint for replacement.

Wait for the market to update for the new 2.3.5 build fingerprint. Once that is done you will again have access to protected apps.
