i know i flashed this rom and all i remember is that the icons for the apps in the drawer had a square border around them...this was not a flash-on nor a theme, just part of the rom.
i really like this rom and i've been flashing roms for days looking for this....thought i would just ask for help
Thanks
"i know i flashed this rom and all i remember is that the icons for the apps in the drawer had a square border around them."
lol no one is gunna be able to help you with that sloppy description no offense.
that sounds more like launcher pro or something like that as opposed to a specific rom.
its hard for other people to tell you what rom for YOU to use.
check out the threads READ what each rom has to offer and CHECK for YOURSELF the rom screen shots and stuff. the only way to accomplish something is by doing it.
hope you get what your looking for.
I'm not positive, but I think you might be talking about zenEXP. But it also has the box style icons on the home screen.
The boxes around the apps in the drawer are from espresso rosie. Espresso rosie is a form of sense that came on the HTC Mytouch.
I believe zenEXP is the ROM you are talking about.

Yup it was ZenEXP
Thanks
please refrain from these types of posts in the developer section .

im trying to customize my htc hd2 phone i dont know what roms are and how to install them and also if you could suggest good themes thanks in advance
There's stickies on top of every forum for the HD2, they are stickies for a reason. And yes it involves a lot of reading, and if you fail to read it all or choose to ignore it you'll end up with a very nice paper weight.
I'll help a little a ROM is not a theme. If you want to change the theme then look in the theme section in the standard HD2 section of the forums. Though most themes are centered around certain UI's like MaxSense, Cookies Home tab, etc, etc.

Ali, a ROM is a package that includes the full OS and other software on your phone. The stuff that came on your phone from the factory is the "stock ROM", and there are a large number of custom ROMs available here at xda that somehow improve or otherwise tweak/change the stock ROM to personal tastes and preferences. You can replace your stock ROM with a custom one if you would like, but the process is delicate and carries the possiblity of totally disabling your phone, permanently ("Bricking" it).
Themes are much safer, and a better place for you to start...in the "themes" section for your phone.
As for ROM's, there are some stickied threads at the top of this section ("Links to CABs, ROMs....") that have full instructions on ROM flashing....make sure you read them VERY carefully if you are thinking about taking that path. Then, read them again
Wow you just sounded like a father to me. Anyway nice to have ppl like you in XDA
Thanks Bro @Phunkee
Now we have very stable Sense builds (thanks to all the Devs but especially to Darkstone and Matt) I would like a bit more tweaks without necessarily changing the Sense theme.
The ones I would most love are tweaks to:
1. disable icon labels on home screens and application drawer
2. enable various animation styles on opening app drawer
3. reduce or increase number of home screens
What tweaks would you most like to make to Sense?
NB: If these issues have already been raised elsewhere on the forum then please delete this thread. Otherwise any help much appreciated please.
given that you know to whom you should thanks more, it is common to think that you have been reading a lot in the forum, am I right? Good! Then, why are you not posting your question in the Android General section? This is for development ONLY.
Oh and just so someone else doesnt come like "ermmmm...why are you not answering his questions?" here is your Answer: Sense is NOT open source, therefore, as far as I know, it will not be distribute under the SENSE name if they modify it. Moreover, HD2 builds are not as advanced as to be putting to much load on them. the simpler the homescreen, the more memory available for other programs. furthermore, there are various framework.apk files that will just work with the HD2 in the Nexus THemes and Apps section. Go around, do research. it will help you live a better life.
I really like HTC Sense, but hate the launcher. The 3 button thing at the bottom? It's too big, and I like my drawer in the middle.

Thanks for your reply! Hmmm, brash are we? Just wondering though, sense was so much tweaked or modified on winmo if I remember right (CHT etc?). Just wondered if that was possible in android was all. If it is not the appropriate forum for the thread, like I said feel free to move it elsewhere. Ta ta!!
u tell em
Moved to general!
Play nice guys!
Hello,
I was thinking the other day about how we dont see any metamorph themes for the HD2 at all. I use to have a MT3G and back then, you could Metamorph ANYTHING you wanted to in a build that wasnt your taste. I hear a lot of newer people asking how they can change this or that and its not really possible unless they are familiar with ADB. So to make a long story short, I thought maybe a few people would like to get together and make a few Metamorph themes with me. I see some really cool ones in other phone threads, maybe we can start by porting a few over.
Any themers with me?
I think if we can get a few to work, a lot of people would use them.
P.S. I would've posted this in the HD2 themes and apps but EVERYTHING in there has to do with Windows.
Count me in, I will love to help out..

like the themes thread says. its an AOSPish theme. basically means its theme that closely resembles the look of STOCK android. our vibrants use touchwiz ui which is a skin on top of android which changes the look and adds features.
Can I download just the theme from somewhere?
This may sound odd.. but it popped up in my head while driving home.
I have been messing around a lot lately with theming, and also playing with the UOT Kitchen... This got me thinking for us less "able" members here..
Is it ethically okay to use someone elses rom (Ie- CM7) as a baseband... and theme it to your liking? then add in the app's you like and whatever you might like in the package and upload it as a different "rom"?
Thanks, and sorry for the odd question
There's a specific post approaching this issue, see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317929
PS: If you want to theme CM7, the best way to do so is with a theme chooser theme No need to re-release roms or anything, just post your theme apk for people to download.

as long as you quote your sources (let everyone know that you used CM7 as a base, and who created all the apps you put in there, etc. etc.) then it's perfectly fine. just be sure to quote every single source you used.
also, don't make it the habit of just releasing themed versions of CM7 or the dev forum will get full of the same ROM with a different look. i'm pretty sure that's the whole reason CM7 comes with a theme engine that makes theming it super easy.
but on the note of your question, just be sure to give credit where credit is due and no one should have a problem with it.
Wow- That stinks... Wish I would have realized that thread pertained to my question.. Sorry about that.
& regarding my theme- It's such a half assed bork job that I'd be embarrassed to post it... Let me do a couple more run's and I hope to have something nice brewed up for you guys
Thank you, and sorry again.
Also- I wasent really thinking to use CM7 Specifically.. I was just using it as an example.
damn, theming is fun! It's a lot of redundant stuff... but fun!
