Hi,
To be clear there is no problem if 3G is running, it doesn't drop.
The problem is that sometimes I unlock the phone and 3G doesn't connect at all.
So I checked:
1- The APN setting are correct.
2- I reinstalled the internet setting automatically.
3- I don't have a task killer.
4- I deleted juiceDefender.
5- The only way to get the 3G back is to restart the phone.
How to solve this? I don't know why does it happen, and if I restart the phone every thing goes back to normal!
* My phone is rooted ..
Thanks ..

I had this same problem, too. I fixed it by reinstalling JuiceDefender, making sure it was disabled and then uninstalling it. I found that if you un installed JD while it was 'active' causes the phone to stuff up the APN somehow.

I made sure JuiceDefender was disabled before I uninstalled it ..
* by the way, I'm also using "optus" .. can they be the problem?

I have completely lost my 3G connection and don't know why! The only thing i did was download an update for Handcent. I have switched off my phone and removed my sim card, etc. but still no 3G. When i enter the APN section my connection reads:
_DISABLED_payandgo.o2.co.uk
I have no idea what could have disabled this but i did delete the _DISABLED_ from the address but still no success.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Hi! I have just managed to reconnect to 3G having performed the following procedure:
Within the APNs section of mobile network settings press the left hand button with the four squares. This should bring up two options 'New APN' and 'Reset to Default'. As soon as I pressed 'reset to default' my 3G was instantly restored.
Hope this helps others experiencing similar problems.
Kind regards
Scott
Hi,
I managed to reconnect the 3G too! By changing the Network mode to GSM only, then back to GSM/WCDMA ..
But why does it happen in the first place!?

I just received my touch HD yesterday and found an annoying bug when I was trying to disable 3G (since I am in the US). Maybe I was going about it wrong, but here is the problem:
* When I disable HSDPA/HSUPA in the connection settings, WinMo will infinitely reboot.
I searched but the only infinite reboot problems I found were related to the colored task bar.
This isn't a huge problem, I just won't disable that anymore, but I thought I would let you know since I didn't see anything about it in the forum. I could have missed it though. If this is a re-post you are welcome to delete it.
That's interesting.... by infinite boot do you mean, it keeps rebooting and not letting you do anything until you do a hard reset? I too am in the states and have disabled that option, and I don't have problem. However, what does happen (and I haven't seen anyone post about this, maybe because they haven't figured out why it's doing it yet), is that the phone reboots when it looses signal (I'm pretty sure of this, as the only time my phone ever reboots itself are in three exact locations, where i get 1 bar max). I'm not sure if this is related to the Data connection either (as I do use one). I'd love to see a discussion => solution on this problem.

YES! I think you have solved my reboot issues!
I also live in the US and on some downtime I was fooling around with my HD and also discovered where I could disable HSDPA/HSUPA and thought since it is not needed and may use resources/power I turned it off. Sadly I started getting reboots during what seemed like weak network connections (1 bar or less). I have a few tweak programs and have changed several settings but didn't know where to begin, and would not have thought about turning HSDPA back on, to figure this one out without hard resetting.
Thanks for your post! I will turn HSDPA back on and hope that solves my problem.
Did you happen to notice if it wanted to do it with low network signals?
Regards,
Gordo
Well, I turned both of them back on, and let you know if it will get rid of the 'random' restarts
Yes, it would infinitely reboot until I hard reset the device.
It would boot most of the way into windows, load up TF3D, then reboot.
I have hard reset about 3 times today, everything worked fine each time until I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA (via Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced Network)
Each time I hard reset, I didn't install any programs, just disabled that setting and... boom infinite reboot. (Everything worked fine until that setting changed. Phone/SMS/...)
EDIT: @Svegetto - For me they weren't 'random' reboots, it was a reboot loop.
My Device
CE OS: 5.2.20757 (Build 20757.1.4.0)
ROM Version: 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.14
Protocol: 52.49a.25.26U
In case it matters...
I was getting the same thing with a weak signal. I was in a hotel where when I got in the elevator bam, it would reboot. Did it pretty much every time.
I was in another location where I was not getting any signal and it was stuck in that same reboot loop. After noticing it would happen while it was trying to locate a signal I removed the sim card and it would reboot fine. Until now I was leaning toward a hardware problem (that I didn't cause) that may have involved the cellular radio overloading the system during a weak signal when it is throttled at max power output. Good radio signals cause it to throttle back to save power so I was about ready to send it in for repair! I even tried a different sim card, SD card, and battery with no change. Now remembering that I did turn off that HSDPA setting, and have since turned it back on, I will be hopeful that my problems are over!
This site is great!! Thanks guys/gals!

Gordo
Reboots
WOw.. i never thought i would find a thread.. i thought i was the only one. Everytime I get on a plane... and thats a lot... when i arrive at the next airport... searching for signal and then reboot loop... infinite frustrating reboot loop.... solution... take out sim... reboot... clear storage.. insert sim... restore from week old backup...
If this HSDPA thing solves my problem.. i will buy someone a beer.
Well I have just 'tested' the 'random' reboot at one of the spots that it would normally reboot, and no reboot (although I've never experienced the infinite reboot, mine would usually reboot once, than maybe a second time, but I'm confident to say that it was due to the HSDPA/HSUPA setting which is really funny cause for the past 3 months I've been waiting for someone to post a thread on the topic)
But yes, it would seem that even if you're in the states and will never get to use it, leave HSDPA/HSUPA enabled (or if someone feels like doing further testing to find out if it's just HSDPA or HSUPA that causes this issue, or both)
Well done all around!

USA Touch HD Users-Beware!
For what it's worth, turning HSDPA back on totally fixed the reboot problem. It has not happened a single time since doing that.
For anyone doing a thread search to troubleshoot this problem it is under:
Settings - Connections - Advanced Network - HSDPA tab
If you were so inclined, as I was, to turn it off thinking it might save battery life or something, don't do it! Low network signal strength will cause it to reboot.
Regards,
Gordo
Yes re-enabling HSDPA/HSUPA solves the problem. I started a thread on this last week when I first got my HD:

hi guys
when im using my device i will occasionally noticethat the contract internet will fail to connect. a soft reset seems to fix this but its really annoying. im using advanced config and hd tweak to disconnect the data after 2mins - could this be causing it. if i leave it a while it sometimes sorts itself out.
any ideas (sorry about grammer - using touch hd kb)
thanks

Wiggz,
Well, why don't you try to reverse what you changed in Advanced Config and HD Tweak in regards to the connection changes. After that, see what happens?
I can't tell you what is going on, but what I've suggested is probably a good place to start in terms of troubleshooting your issues.
Cheers.
Wolf...cheers for the reply.
It could be one of a million apps I've installed/uninstalled on the device. Prime example: tried to use data connection last night before I went to bed and it failed....soft reset and it worked fine. Obviously the 1/2min data connection idle kill I've got setup would have killed the data connection through the night (as it checked for emails) but it still works this morning.
Weird!
I've just done a ROM upgrade to 1.66.707.1, and now my Wifi connection kees enabling itself.
I'm sure that I missed something to make it not connect, but what?
Anyone here who might have a clue what it could be?
Thank you.
Hmm that sounds like something I have seen before. I had a similar issue when I had the hd2 12 button action screen installed. Do you have that?

No.. I've not installed that.
I'm also not using Stocks, Weather, Internet time sync and so on, and I thing that if I would, the phone would use the gprs option.
Tomorrow, I'll re check all applications that I'm running to see if I've missed a setting.
Im just curious.
When you disable/enable wifi do you use the comm.manager or another program???

Switch the phone into airplane mode (in the comm manager) and the startup wizard should popup. Just run through that process.

Maybe put it in airplane mode and restart it. It sounds like the issue that some others have had after installing 1.66. It runs the setup wizard in the background, and that automatically starts wifi. My biggest concern if this is the case is that your phone isn't set up to work on the network yet.
Try it anyway and see how you get on.

Okay.. I've put it in "Airplane mode", turned off and back on the phone.
Still not setup wizard.
Did the same thing again and soft reset. Still no setup wizard.
I'm going to give it some more runs, but if no luck I will install an other ROM (custom one), to see if my problem is gone.
I'll report back if I know more.
Thank you for your input.
re: isn't set up to work on the network yet
It is.. All my network connections are working fine.
I think is an issue of Wifi Toggle.

Hi everyone.
My Legend has a very odd problem. Sometimes, when I receive a call, the phone rings normally (loud) for a few seconds and then it becomes a lot softer. Sounds a little muffled. Doesnt happen all the time though...
The 'quiet ring on pickup' option is already disabled btw.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it a software bug?
Thanks.
yes!! me too!
I have the same problem with my legend.
when you let the telephone ring, after a couple of rings, the volume drops "dramatically"...
Try turning off quet ring on pickup.

I had this issue, when i first got the phone.
Then i read somewhere that task killers/managers, could be the cause of this, unless you put the ringtone service (whatever it's called) on the ignore list in the task killer app.
I reset the phone and didn't install a task killer/manager.
Have not had a problem with ringtones since.
Maybe i'm just lucky.
I used to use Task Killer for a while but already uninstalled it before I factory reset my phone. Didn't make a difference for me. Still have the ring problem.

Dear Mr.PARTENOV

So is it with all calls?
Are you using built in ring tones?
Can you enable the option of 'quiet ring on pickup' and test the phone then disable it once again?

Hi, I'm from Russia. I and a few man have the same problem. Nothing helps. We must tell HTC about this issue, that they have released update.
Sorry for my english.
So the next step is to hard reset my phone as HTC support suggest!...
I have done that and did not help at all.
Here is their answer:
Hello Mr.PARTENOV
Thank you for your quick response.
The only option that is left now is to Hard Reset the phone
Resetting your phone will erase your phone completely. Remember to back up your phone information and settings.
Please press MENU on the Home screen, then tap Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone. You can also perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
1. With the phone turned off, long press the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
4. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP. NOTE: Resetting your handset to factory or manufacturer's default setting will delete all the data stored on your phone memory, please back up your files first.
This feature is not a default option in Android, however you may go to the Android Market to find related applications. To open the market, please press All programs on the Home screen > Market > tap search icon to type key words.
NOTE 1: An internet connection (Wi-Fi, GPRS/3G, etc.) is required to access this service. Your operator may charge for using GPRS/3G. Paid applications are available in specified territories only.
NOTE 2: All programs is the triangle icon in the lower left corner of the home screen that opens the phone's application menu
Or you can use HTC sync.
Thank you so much for using HTC products.
Respect & Regards,
HTC TEAM

Best Regards,
Ok I have nailed the problem and I have found the fix for my case....
I have done the hard reset as suggested by HTC!
Then started to set my personal settings. In the mean time I was testing after each setting....and I found the "bad" one.
Settings-> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode
GSM Only - bad ringtone sound
WCDMA only - normal, loud, crystal sound - EVERY TIME it rings
In my area I get many changes between 3G and GPRS so I decided to switch it only to GSM and after that I got the "bad" ringtone issue..
Right now I made my experiment 4 times and in all cases I got repetability. SO fo me this is the solution in this case!
I am glad if this info could help !
Best Regards,
Is it confirm? I'll try this"workaround".

I have tried this exercise 4 times and every time I got the same!
I am not sure if it is related somehow to the Network operator service quality.
Hi!
My n9005 works perfectly fine, but SOMETIMES in standby when I wake the phone up, I notice Wi-Fi is turned off, while it previous it was on.
When I try to move the knob thing to turn on Wi-Fi it just does the animation and stays like it's trying to turn it on, but doesn't.
I have to restart the phone every time to make Wi-Fi work again.
This doesn't happen a lot of the time, but it's annoying.
Is this a common thing? What could I do to fix it?
Thank you for your time.
Open wifi menu and go to option.
then go to advanced, there is and option "keep wifi on during sleep". Make sure it says "always on"
The problem isn't that.
That's how it is by default.
I would be able to turn wifi on after it turned off if that was the problem.
In my case I need to restart the phone to be able to.

I did a factory reset and Odin flash of the same exact ROM that I had by downloading from Sammobile.
The problem is so random and seems to only happen when the phone sleeps or is charging. Sometimes it works for a few days, sometimes it will happen, no WiFi until a restart.
EDIT:
Maybe I should download another ROM from sammobile and try that?
Does that trip Knox?
I have a [Austria (T-Mobile) MAX] ROM (PDA:N9005XXUGBOK6
CSC:N9005MAXGBOK1) atm, I bought the Note 3 used and it had that. But I live in Serbia, maybe I should try the Serbian one in example for my carrier?
The WiFi problem is just annoying at most, it doesn't happen often, but I shouldn't have to restart the phone to have WiFi.
