Hi, apologies if this has been asked before, i search but couldn't find anything.
Recently I have been having problems with my HD2 when using the browser mostly, i will be loading a page and the connection icon at the top of the screen will go from saying "H" in the box and to the right the signal bar with a "H" then it will go to 3G then it will suddenly cut off and some arrows appear as if i have lost connection all together, after about 5-10 seconds it will go back to H or 3G then the webpage will continue to load. This happens every few minutes or so.
Watching youtube or streaming video's works fine though with no issues.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance
I've tried searching around here and couldn't find an answer to this. I apologize if this has been asked before.
But I just received my Evo 4G today and i've noticed that when I go to the Market, everything loads extremely slow (whether im on 3G or WiFi). Searching takes longer than usual to find results and when I try to download an app it takes a while for the info to come up. This also occurs on the installation page. It just shows a blank white screen for a while, then shows the info and allows me to download. Anyone know the reason for this?
anyone experiencing this? I know I can't be th only one.
I don't know if mine is quite as extreme as your describe your problems, but it does take a very long time to load the first page of the market, and going to the Downloads page is super slow. Definitely an annoyance.
EDIT: Right now I can't even use the market. It loads but nothing will download, it all fails.
Yeah I have had this issue as well. I am just assuming that its part of the Froyo launch and the fact that it was also having issues yesterday.
I experienced this too when I first got the phone and after rooting and flashing a rom. After I had downloaded and installed a bunch of apps the market went back to normal. I think it just takes some time to load everything or recognize the device.
I'm having the same issue. Before I was getting a [insert app name here] download unsuccessful error, now nothing download's at all .... Now the download unsuccessful error is back...ehh. Guess market place has some issues right now.
Market not working for me either. Just says download unsuccessful.

Hmm, I have problems downloading anything from the market over wifi. It just sits there without ever making any progress. If I turn off wifi, stuff downloads right away over 3g. Everything else seems to work fine over wifi though.
Yea I just realized that after a while of waiting it went back to normal. Not a big problem. Thanks anyways.
it happenss from time to time, usually just server load
Hi,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S about a month ago, and have been having odd problems with it since the off. Has anyone else had these sort of symptoms:
1. I occasionally lose my data connection - the icon disappears from the top of the screen and whilst I can still make and recieve calls and text messages, I cannot download anything in any app. The only way I've found to get my data connection back is to reset the phone. This happens maybe a couple of times a week.
2. My WiFi seems to suffer from a similar problem. I can be browsing the web on Wifi, then suddenly I'll not be able to download anything anymore. The wifi icon is still visible, but I'll basically be unable to download anything until I switch the wifi off and back on again. Then, it starts working as normal again.
In both these above scenarios, I think I've narrowed it down to primarily happening after I use the Android Market, but it's difficult to tell as it's very intermittent.
3. A couple of times since getting the phone, I've been unable to make or receive any calls. Even switching the phone off and back on didn't help - my signal bar was showing I had a signal and my data connection was still active. Couldn't tell if this was a network problem or not though as there weren't any people nearby on the same network as me. After a while, it started working normally again.
4. The email client randomly lost all of my email settings. One day I was receiving all my emails, the next day I had no email accounts set up at all.
5. I installed Sensor Dump and Phone Explorer to see what data was coming in from the sensors, and have noticed that the light sensor never sends any data. Is this normal?
I also have the usual slow-down issues, etc, but the above have got me stumped as I can't find anyone else reporting the same issues. When I first got the phone, I went crazy installing a load of Android apps, so initially I blamed the software I'd installed. After a reset and being a bit more selective with the apps I install and use, I'm still getting the same issues. I just can't pin down whether this is a faulty phone that I should return, or if there are software issues either relating to the way I'm using the phone or just with bugs in the firmware.
Has anyone else had anything like the above happen with their Galaxy S?
Thanks,
Chris.
I've experienced no.2 several times, wifi just stopping all data traffic. Not found out what causes it though.
As for the other problems, I haven't experienced any of those. Do you use automatic brightness on the display? If not, problem no. 5 might be caused by the sensor being turned off.
thanks for the reply - at least I'm not completely alone!
I have the automatic brightness turned on - which is why it seems odd. To be honest, I've never actually see the auto brightness do anything. It always seems to be the same brightness to me.
Cheers,
Chris.
Strange Problem

I think it might be normal that older mails disappear from the inbox after some time? My problem was that everything went. I had three email accounts set up, all downloading emails every hour. Then, one day I went into the email app and there were no accounts at all! I had to set it all up from scratch again.
I hear there are better email apps available for Android, so I'll probably switch to one of those soon.

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S on Orange UK in July. I'm having the same problem as 1. quite consistenly now.
I thought it might be related to the green power battery saver app I had installed, but i've removed this and still having the problem.
I'm using the phone in several central London locations so I think it's unlikely to be a problem with the data network.
Any suggestion would be welcome since I'm often without data.
Thanks
Nik
ive 1 and 3 but very rarely so far
rebooting fixes it for me
running froyo jp3
for email i use K9, it's almost the same as the integrated mail, only much better (PUSH imap)

I'm actually getting this happen a lot now. It seems to be getting worse, which makes me think it might be a hardware fault. I generally lose my data connection once or twice a day minimum, but some days the phone is virtually unusable.
I have found that it's more likely to happen after using Wi-Fi, so my other thought is that when coming out of Wireless mode, the phone may not switch the normal 3G/HSDPA data connection back on. Most of the time I can fix this by putting the phone into flight mode and then back out, but sometimes it needs a complete reset.
The other problem I've noted with the data connection is that sometimes it seems to rapidly switch between HSDPA and 3G - the data icon at the top of the screen keeps going from '3G' to 'H' then back again. I guess it has something to do with signal quality but it only seems to happen when the phone is showing a good signal strength (four bars). The problem I've found when this happens is that it virtually locks up any ongoing data transfers, making it impossible to download a webpage or check my emails. Strangely the only way I've really found to stop this happening is to move somewhere where my signal strength is weaker, such as indoors, which then seems to make the phone stop attempting to use HSDPA. I can't find a way to switch off HSDPA from within the phone's settings while leaving 3G on.
I really am now finding that using this phone is an increasingly frustrating experience. I've found even more weird faults, such as sometimes my text conversations show the wrong people's names up against them, and then my replies go to the wrong people. It's like an insane, shiny mess of a phone!

I am indeed experiencing same problems above..it just drive me crazy with a need of complete reset everyday..
turning on n off flight mode won't change anything..
I really hope someone can bring a miracle to solve this problem..
I'm on XXJPC
setting the APN parameter(Setting-->Wireless and network-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names-->New APN) to 2G only seems to solve the 'lost data connection' problem..
I am connected 24/7 now..
Give a try guys!
I have a question, Some times my Signal bars and 3G indicator are green and all works well. Other times they are Gray and things start happening, for example it keeps telling me it cannot authorize Google Talk. I can still connect to the internet and everything but just not sure why the Google Talk thing stops working.
This also happens when I am on WiFi in my house. Some times it will be green and other times it will be gray.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks

i believe that they are green when they are connected to google services i was reading about it on the forum the other night.
i am sure thats the reason, if not then someone please correct me as i pick mine up tomorrow
I'm having this problem too. Mostly when switching from 3g to 2g. I believe what is happening is the data is dropping out. When data/wifi are green you are connected and all is well. The grey means it is not working. I cant figure out why I have the problem switching between 2g AND 3g. That is bugging the crap outta me. My Vibrant does it with no problems, the Nexus s not so much. Dont know if this is related only to gingerbread or the phone. Usually a reboot takes care of this, and a reboot doesnt take long on the Nexus S. But like the girlfriend says, "all that money for this phone and it doesnt work right?"
Yea mine were all grey until I added my google account info and synced up. Now they seem to be perm green.

I dont know if I agree with that. On my device when its grey it doesnt even connect to a web page or anything that uses data. This is just my observation.

Thanks stevo.
I was under the impression they were green when a connection was active, gray when idle. Don't have an S yet though, so can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere (probably on here).

I can still connect when grey...
I have the sleep policy set to never yet my WiFi at work keeps reconnecting every time i power it back on. My Evo4G has the same settings and doesn't drop the signal.
Ideas?
I'm having the exact same problem!
When I let my tablet sleep, after turning the screen on, the status bar says I'm connected to WiFi, but the bars are grey, not blue. Browsing the web works and YouTube as well, but apps like Talk keep saying I'm offline. After waiting a minute, it signs me in.
I have it set to never disconnecting WiFi, I'm not sure why it's doing this.
Same problem here. I returned my first Galaxy Tab 10.1 because of this. Sadly my replacement does the same thing.
I'm wondering how common this is or if returning it again would just be a waste of time.
It's particularly annoying because I like to stream after a while when the display is off, the streaming stops (wifi apparently dropping).
Seems like it is always one dang problem after another with each Honeycomb tablet I've had. *sigh*
Am I to assume by lack of response that almost nobody else has this issue? Just curious because it seems odd I'd have this problem with two tablets. And trying to decide if I should return and try a third time. Hate to keep returning them though if it's just a normal glitch with this tablet.
Same problem here, but only on my EAP network at work. On my home network (WPA2 personal), it works great.

I have this issue too, I seem to be connected but bars are grey. I tap the wifi, which takes me to settings and once I tap on my my access point which already shows connected, it lights back up and the bars change back to blue. Mainly an annoyance for now.
I had this same problem, the only way I found that is consistent is using Bluetooth.
Anyone know of a good way to reproduce the problem on demand? It happens often. So I was going to return the tablet to Fry's Electronics. But now they've gotten super anal and won't even let me exchange unless I can duplicate the issue in store.
But it seems to happen at random times when the screen has been asleep for a while.
And I probably will do my best to avoid shopping at Fry's in the future as well.
Happens to me too. It definatly is annoying. Hopefully they can send out a fix when they release the touchwiz ui.

It's not like I get disconnected from the net, although I see the grey bars, I can still surf the web and junk, but some apps log me out like I mentioned before. It used to happen all the time, now i only happens at times.
To see what I'm talking about, let it sleep for like an hour or two, and then launch Google Talk. It says you're offline, wait a bit and it logs you in again
Okay, that must be what is happening to me. I notice the grey bars all the time and a bit of lag once I pick up the tab and try to connect to some network resource. What I've discovered is that if you connect to a remember wifi spot (home) then let the device sleep and then move to another remember wifi spot (work) it just disconnects and waits for you to unlock the device before it even tries to reconnect.
It's driving me crazy, I take it from home to work and us to use it to keep me updated on emails but now if I forget to unlock it it won't scan the remembered wifi network that I'm now on, it just stays dormant until I unlock it which means no email notices or anything pop up.
There's got to be a setting or something to say always scan for networks, I have "never" checked but that does nothing in my opinion.
