What hardware version do you have? - Droid Incredible General

Hi,
I am just curious as to what hardware version you have. I purchase my Incredible yesterday from WalMart and the hardware version is 0002. Is that the most recent?
Thanks.

I got mine the day before it came out, and I also have version 0002. I doubt there's been any other revision.

Okay. Thanks.

Hardware Version 3
I just recieved my replacement phone yesterday and my Hardware Version is 3. I was able to root using Unrevoked 3.21 but It goes to a black screen with white bars on bothe sides when trying to use Clockwork mod recovery. Does anyone else have this issue and is there a known solution?

8525 Screen Yellowish Hue

I just got my replacement 8525 cuz the previous one have non working keys on the keyboard and when i compare the screen brightness and hue of the new 8525 with my defective one, the new one seems to have a slightly darker screen and a yellowish hue on it which really annoys the hell out of me. Also my defective one did not have a upgraded rom the new one does.
I was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem
ur new one has a upgraded ROM? What ROM does it have?
rom version 2.15.502.3
oh ..thats the latest one available...I got excited for a minute, thought maybe it had the WM6 update.

To simplify my question , some brands like (htc ) release same device with different screens (htc sensation is released with both sharp and acer screens ) , now my question is how i can confirm that the screen on my tab is samsung made PLS screen , not a cheap version for middle east region with normal screen.
Thanks and regards,
this is the article that made me think that way http://www.slashgear.com/samsung-gal...tage-10158766/
it says that some galaxy tab 10.1 will have different screens due to shortage and thicker bodey , any one can help me recognize what screen i have on my tab

Read the comments on that article...it seems as though the problem existed with the 8.9, NOT the 10.1.

The article's from June and the source is a Mac website who I'm guessing isn't really in the loop about what's happening at Samsung. For whatever reason, what they predicted never happened. Samsung manufactures all their own display panels unlike other OEM's. If there was a spec change, it would propbably be done regionally with whatever's changed clearly noted to the public. There's nothing to indicate that all the 10.1 display's aren't the same.

Super PLS is just a type of IPS screen. You should be able to tell by looking at it that it's an IPS screen, as lesser alternatives really screw up the colors/contrast as you look at sharper angles. If any of these had something other than an IPS screen, I'm sure there would be plenty of stories/posts about it.
So the real question is: do you have a "generic" IPS screen, or a Super PLS. Considering that Super PLS is less expensive to produce than traditional IPS, are you concerned that you may have a cheap PLS screen, or are you concerned that they spent extra money to send you a generic IPS screen?

Does JB 4.3 update fix the yellow tint on XTZ?

So i bought XTZ a few days ago, its the 16gb LTE version SGP321.
It comes applied with a matte screen protector. Just noticed yesterday the color white on my XTZ is rather yellowish when compared to the white on my xperia z phone and laptop. I thought it was the screen protector but i dont think that was it.
It doesn't have the white balance feature to fix it and i dnt want to download any app to fix that since it must be turned on all the time and thats annoying.
I googled and saw a review from a site that also talked about the yellowish white on the XTZ so i assume its not just my XTZ issue?
Should i bring it back to sony centre?
Does the new 4.3 update fix it? right now running on 4.2.2
Help would be appreciated thanks

I do not have the answer to your question unfortunately. What I know though is that the preapplied screenprotector gives a yellow tint. I removed it and the colours are much better after that.

The logo on XTZ is actually on the glass itself, not on the film., so the logo will not dissappear. The XTZ comes with a matte film that is recommended to be removed. There is also a anti scatter film that can be removed, which has some yellow tint in it.
If you remove it it might void the warranty, not sure, but there are videos on YouTube on how to remove the ASF. I did it and I do not regret it.

Just updated my SGP321 and yes, I can confirm that the new software has changes in color temperature of the display. It's a little colder now, the yellow tint or the too warm color gone. It's much better now, immediately uninstalled "Screen Adjuster"!
And second "side efect" of new ROM is the contrast is better now on screen!

In case you didn't notice, the new standard on 10.1 inch tablets is 2560 x 1600; and if you have a Nexus 7 you will see clearly that the Tablet Z is not so sharp. But of course it's perfectly ok.

Half of the screen is brighter-s7 edge

Hi all,
Half an hour ago, just noticed that the half of the screen is brighter than the other half.
Checked the web but could not find an answer.
Anyone having the same issue?
I've just realized that when i dial *#0*# and select "black" from the main screen, no problem at all.
Seems weird, no solution or similar experience on the web yet.
Edit: Before sending the device to the authorized service, I decided to flash a stock room and do a full wipe. Tadaa... The problem is solved...
I'm tech stupid & I'm having the same problem with half the screen brighter. I'm embarrassed to ask, but would you please tell me how to solve the issue in dumbed-down terms? Thanks in advance!
I can hardly believe that such screen issues can be solved with software.
Search for Samsung Amoled Display Color tint or look at my past threads about this issue. It's there since years, and comes from the manufacturing process! About one of 5 to 10 displays are good, the rest have issues most people don't recognize! The most common error is that the screen brightness and color tint is not even across the screen!
Put a few devices side to side, do the *#0*# and you will see that all screens are different! Some better, most of them worse...

Hi mate,
No need to be embarrassed.
First, make a backup of your device so as not to lose any files.
Second, download the latest rom from sammobile in accordance with your country.
Third, download the latest odin
Fourth, flash the rom using the odin and then make a full wipe.
That's how i have solved my issue and have had no problem since.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Not really. I have tried it in some custom rom and normal. Maybe it's a hardware issue

Try flashing the stock firmware. If the screen is okay, it's the Rom (although highly unlikely). If the screen stays the same, it's a hardware issue

Latest batch of Pixel 2 XL's still have screen issues

Here is my two hour old Pixel 2 XL VS Huawei Mate 9. My pixel has a build date of 10/12/2017.
Dead on:
[Pictures took a dump]
Slight tilt:
[Pictures took a dump]
Google RMAed my phone after I sent them those pictures.
UPDATE:
1. All OLED have some sort of color shift.
2. Not all OLED screens have a strong color shift
3. Not all Pixel Two XL's are created equal. Some have more color shift than others.
4. This is the only good phone on Verizon that will have custom ROM support.
5. Anyone on a GSM carrier should learn to live with the color shift or buy a OnePlus device.
6. LG still has QC issues on ever phone they make.
My replacement device still has a blue tint but it is better than my original device.
Overall this is the best phone on the market currently with Verizon support. I got to use my dad's iPhone X today and iOS is not ready for a phone without a home button.
Update 12/17/17:
I am on my third device and all three had noticable blue shift. The second device had screen burn in.

Viewing angle.
Sorry for dumb question. What differences am I looking for between the pictures?
I just got mine today in US. I honestly don't have any complaints with mine. I downloaded Oreo Colorizer to give the display a wider range of colors, which works for now. I'm sure Google will address the colors with an update. As for the tint, maybe I'm just not seeing it, but this screen looks gorgeous to me at all angles.

The pixel two XL has a blue tint notably on the top of the screen when looking at an angle. The mate 9 has no such tint.
My V30 has the same blue tint issue. It won't change unless Google decides to switch display partners
The blue tint is from the polarizer. If you want a new screen, let it be for another reason - you have a few to chose from, potentially.

I'm also hardware revision 10. The blue tint is there, but it's much more subtle in person than what I was expecting based upon the videos and pictures I saw before getting the phone. I don't know if it means I have an updated version with the display issue toned down, however. But I thought it was worth mentioning.

Right. I figure at least we can track revisions this way and can determine when its changed and if its better.

If the blue tint was from the polarizer, wouldn't all LCD screens suffer this? LG has plenty of experience making LCD screens, the majority of which polarizers do not cause this blue shift.
Could blue tint also come from using plastic as substrate and potentially being less transparent to longer wavelengths than glass? Viewing at a less than 90° angle increasing the amount of plastic the light has to travel through and thus potentially filtering out more of the lower energy (longer, red-er) wavelengths?

That makes sense to me. I had heard about the polarizer and wondered what if anything that would do to the look of the screen.
It would take awhile before anyone starts seeing revised versions and that's even if Google does anything about it. I have a feeling they probably won't do any major hardware revisions and just push a software update out for screen saturation.

It would be good to mention build date as well. Fixes in production quality (both display plant and phone assembly) will not increase hw version. HW-version increases when the hw-design is changed by R&D (new PCB, changed components etc).

But these issues are not new to Google, of course they have seen these issues during normal internal testing and beta test.
And some issues might be basic production issues solved in the next batches.
Regardless, it is very difficult to predict what happens and when.
Also sad to see that Google does not respond at all so far.

Pretty much all screens use a standard polarizer, the Pixel 2 phones use circular polarization, however if it was the polarizer you would expect it on the Pixel 2 non-XL model as well, so I don't think it is the polarizer, but who knows, maybe it is an interaction between the circular polarizer and the POLED vs the SAMOLED.
