How do you boot into clockwork with no cables or computers attached? Is this possible?
Couple of apps, you can try. I think I used Quickboot. Give that a try.
Volume down, power on at the same time. Then down to recovery. Push the power button to select. If clockwork doesn't load. I'd suggest unrevoked tool, then repeat these steps.

@zargeus - thanks that did the trick!
you can also find RomManager in the market and reboot into clockwork from there if this happens again
RomManager didn't work for me. Wouldnt reboot after trying to backup the existing ROM.

Anyone able to boot into recovery with RomManager? It looks like its about to go then i get he android with the exclamation mark. But if i use the hard keys (power and volume) i go in no problem?
If there is a fix let me know, as this has been an issue for me for a while, even before R14. THanks!

you must be using the super IO kernel? There's no 2e recovery so when you select reboot into recovery in ROM manager it'll take you to what you described and if you hold down the power button for a few seconds, it'll reboot into CWM

I am using whatever came stock with his rom. Would that be the Super IO Kernel? And if that is the case, do you have any recommendations for what kernel i can use that is compatible with his rom?
Thanks!
I just boot into recovery on R14 and install from there. Just go to the zip you want to install. Or use rom manager and when it locks hold power and let it reboot.

Yeah i know its not a hard process,.. just wondered if there was a way to do it from Rom Manager like in the 2.1 roms. Thanks.
I use an app called quick boot to reboot, power off or go into recovery
Got CyanogenMod 7.0 installed and running on the MT4G.
I am looking for the Market icon, but where is it?
You also need ot flash the gapps (google apps) rom
I am new to this too!
Here is a link for ya,

i am not sure if this is the newest or best, but i just flashed to cm7 as well.
Sadly my issue is my SD card DIED with my backup RIGHT AFTER my made a backup! Now i don't have my stock ROM anymore T.T
edit:
Uhhh so i just thought about it...
if you flashed, you dont have ROM manager on... so i don't know how to get back into the recovery window for you?
Sure you can manually install the ROM manager apk somehow? or reboot the phone into recovery mode with a button key set? I seen power button + vol down do something on some HTC phones.
To boot into recovery turn phone off hold vol down and power it will boot into bootloader then scroll down with the volume keys and hit recovery with the power button. Also if you have CM7 (Cyanogen mod 7) you can hold power hit reboot and it comes up with reboot options and ones recovery

Whenever I try and boot into clockwork recovery via bootstrapping, once past the "M" screen, the screen goes black. I've re-flashed recoveries via rom manager (yes i am a premium user) I have SBF'ed like 10 times today, in hopes and trying to get a perfect install yet something always goes wrong
Right after the SBF, when phone reboots, reboot back into recovery (home and power) and clear cache/data. See if that helps at all
I've never had much luck with ROM Manager.
Try downloading 'Droid 2 Bootstrapper' from the market.
After installing it press the 'Bootstrap Recovery' button. Press 'ok'.
Now press the 'Reboot Recovery' button and let the phone reboot.
(Be sure to get DROID2 bootstrap not DROIDX bootstrap.)

ROM manager is not able to do much for the droid x. Use other apps
I am having the same problem. A customer's daughter was using my phone and somehow opened the Rom recovery. When the phone rebooted it now loads to the boot screen says droid and restarts. I can't seem to get it into bootloader to recover the phone. Any ideas?

Try pulling the battery.
Place it back in the phone and hold the power button and home button simultaneously.
When the image of the DROID with an exclamation mark comes up press the search button. When the recovery menu comes up choose to wipe data. Navigate with the volume rockers and select with the power button.
(If you have Gingerbread installed you will press the volume rockers instead of the search button to enter Recovery Mode.)
This should fix your problem.

I've tried that but when it restarts it just goes through the same process over and over. The only way to stop it is to pull the battery.

So after you wipe data you still bootloop?

Hi,
I just flashed CM 7.0.3 via ROM Manager (missed making factory reset) and now the phone is booting for the first time, since 20minutes I guess. Is that normal?
I'm only seeing the blue CM7 bootanimation.
Don't know what to do now...
Is this a bootloop?
What can I do?
Yes it is bootloop.
Wipe everything and make a factory reset first. Can be done from recovery menu.
Then install cm7 again.

Switch of phone and pull out battery. Again insert battery and go to hboot menu and recovery first.
In recovery, donot press the power button to select. Instead press trackpad to select. Pressing power button takes you to previous menu or gives you that image

I would try taking out the battery then once relplaced, boot into recovery and restore your nandroid backup - assuming you have one.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Oops.
I think the picture with phone and red triangle is stock recovery. Here if you press volume up + power, then you will see just 4 options.
Are you sure you properly installed clockworkmod custom recovery. On hboot 0.80 use unrevoked to flash custom recovery. And if you have done s-off with alpharevx then use fastboot flashing or pc49img method for installing custom recovery.

I have rooted using the rooting toolkit.
Great toolkit by the way.
That gave me a cwm.
I installed ROM manager n choose the cwm touch.
Now I have a nice touch version cwm.
But I can only enter it via ROM toolbox or ROM manager in app option
The power + volume own combo doesn't work anymore.
Naturally I googled n search about this.
Is a common issue and the solution is usually this 2
Use adb, I have no idea how.
Plug a USB cable.
I love the USB cable idea but I don't get how it works.
There is no description on it.
I plug my USB cable, and try the combo,
I got into boot menu, I navigate to recovery, and it got stuck there
What should I do?
I'm worry to flash anything fearing I can't get back to recovery if my tab don't boot.
Well one way to get abound it is any CM10 Rom. You old the power button, click rebppt then select reboot recovery to reboot into it. It kinda is a problem if you don't want to flash anything though.........

dumb questions: did you plug it into computer? does adb work when you do so? If these two are true, I imagine the three button method should work when plugged in.
(But I'm just speculating, really.)
If adb does work, then worst case scenario you should be able to "adb reboot bootloader".

You don't have a computer/laptop?
Maybe you don't need adb, I was just speculating. I wouldn't know since I basically have adb all the time.
Choose boot into recovery in Tomorrow manager or grab terminal emulate of play and type

Thanks for the USB Trick
I manage to get it to work already.
Just plug the USB cable to the tablet, and connect it to a computer.
Then use the power and volume down combo to boot into cwm recovery.
Previously I tried the combo only with the USB cable, but not plugged to a computer.
why we need to plug in a pc???, my phone doesnt need....
just power + volume down!

How do you do it?
If I use that key combo,
It will lead me to a menu, I use volume button to select recovery,
The tab will then just stuck at the Google logo and never enter cwm.
It is a bug in the bootloader... many threads about it.
Simple fix use quickboot app. Press a button and you're in recovery. No keyboard needed.

I just went into Fastboot, Power, both volume keys then scrolled to recovery... worked like a charm... dunno why it wouldnt.
Unless set by CWM, Nexus 7 will automatically try to restore the stock recovery that's why you are stuck. Once in CWM recovery, there should be an option to block android from doing so.

It is really easy to get into Clockworkmod Recovery. Install Rom Manager vv5.0.2.1 from the market and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. It should list recovery 6.0.1.0. Then choose Reboot into Recovery from Rom Manager. Done. Now you have the full CWM recovery with access to all the things you don't have in stock recovery.
