i don't know how to install exchange certificate to i9000. i tried from setting->location & security->install encrypted certificates
both cer and pfx format can't be recognized.
the same certificates can be inputed to win mobile system and working.
when you think of it
I have the same FAQ
What are they, where to put 'em (in order to install 'em), how can We manage etc
It would be nice some more experienced can explain us these questions ...
p.s. My main concern is I can NOT buy anything on the market
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4461360/how-to-install-trusted-ca-certificate-on-android-device
Conclusion: Android 2.1 and 2.2 allow you to import certificates, but only for use with WiFi and VPN.

So it seems like a difficult task, I'm afraid. Unless that's changed in 2.2.1 or newer, of course.
Although, doesn't the Samsung email client allow you to accept any SSL certificates (there's a check box during account setup)? I would assume that means it'll accept "snake oil" certs as well?
And in what way does market issues have anything to do with importing custom certificates, Vanto?

Check if your country is in this list, otherwise you cannot buy paid apps: http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=143779
PS: As per your profile, you are in Macedonia which is not in the list

Ah, so that's what you meant. Sorry, didn't get that from your first post
As seltaeb mentioned, it seems paid apps aren't available for Macedonia (yet).
However, you've created a Google Checkout account? If so, use the app "Market Enabler" (Google it) to gain access to paid apps. I've used this before paid apps were available in Norway, and it worked very well. You'll still be able to pay with your Google Checkout account.
(You can also use Market Enabler to get access to apps that are only available to specific regions for example.)
By the way Android recognizes only .p12 files. Just rename your .pfx to .p12.

I've searched a few times and can't really find much on this, but I'm about to root my G1 (the T-Mobile version) and that means fully wiping it. I've got a few apps including open home and SNesoid on there that are paid for and linked to a gmail account I'm wanting to get rid of. When I reinstall everything on the phone I want to use a fresh gmail account with a new user name but I'm not sure how I would get those paid apps transferred to that account. Anyone know of a way to do this?

Well there is no way you can get them from the market back because thats all linked to your account and with a new account you would have to buy them again. Make backups of all your apk's and for the protected ones pull them using adb.
If I am correct, all you have to do is "relink your market account to your "credit card" info and it should be there. :]
OK perfect. I will probably do both just to be safe. Thanks a lot.
There seems to be a method detailed in the thread here:

Technically the credit card is on your google checkout account, not your gmail account. And as long as you've paid for an app (and not refunded it) you should be able to get updates for it on that google account as long as the developer provides them.
ok thanks for that but would i still get the app updates if i cancel my google checkout account?

It's likely that when you attempt to redownload an app you had previously purchased but uninstalled that the market backend parses your google checkout account for a record of having purchased an app. Since there's no way currently to remove checkout from a Google account, there's probably no way you could get into a situation where your checkout history became unaccessible for the market backend.
Of course until someone has any actual experience in this matter, all I wrote above is just an educated guess.
I just flashed a new ROM and configurated it with my Google Apps Account.
Then I went to Market and searched for a app I had bought with my normal Google Account which is connected to Checkout.
Market asked me for a gmail Account because the Apps account does not work for buying at the Market and I entered the GMail account informations and still had to buy the app I still have bought before?!
How can I tell Market to show me the apps I still have bought? And yes, I bought it with the same credit card, I did not make any change at checkout
I would contact the developer of said app and explain the situation and provide your info and see if he will honor it. I don't see where a dev would have a problem sending you an apk providing you proved that you purchased it.
got it with with Tutorial:

Sign up for a GMail account using a US based proxy (P.S. - this is mentioned in the blog post!)
Is there a way to get it to redeem on Canada for an existing account? What if I actually go to the USA? Seems it is not possible but what do they propose you do if you move?
This method requires making of a new Email account with a US region... is it not possible to maybe CHANGE your current primary gmail accounts region to the US...?? I dont want to have some other email address which has all my paid apps on it... whats strange is iv given my email to someone in the US to redeem a card for me right there, Yet its Still saying the card not valid in your region... :S
Google doesn't let you change it. I have discussed it in length with them and "escalated" the issue only to be told that "if you move, you have to make a new account to change the region". My Canadian account and all its content, then, is completely useless. Hope they modernize and fix this soon. They seem to think it isn't a big deal having to manage multiple accounts.

They actually just responded to my email a bit back... what they had to say was you need to have some credit card linked to your account, which has a billing address of that country where you want your account to be associated with... once you have that don't then you can redeem the card, if the credit card entered is a U.S card...
They sent it along with steps of what exactly needs to be done... if you want can post it here...

If you could, because I undertook those steps only to have the box greyed out to change country code. On contacting them again after complying with their US Credit Card demands they then told me it cannot be changed once set to Canada - I have to make a new account for USA. They are probably hoping most people can't do step 1 before breaking it to them that it doesn't matter if they do, since it won't change anyways.

Thanks for contacting us about country support for Google Play. We use the billing address of your default payment instrument in Google Wallet to help determine your home country for accessing the Play Store. Our collection of content can vary by country, so your view of the Play Store may differ from what others are seeing when you travel outside of the country listed on your default payment methods billing address. Please note that you must have a valid payment method with a billing address located inside a country in order to access that country's Play Store. If you're having issues viewing your intended country's Play Store, the US is going to be your permanent residency, and would like to change your default payment method or update an existing billing address in Google Wallet, please use the following steps:
1) Sign into your Google Wallet account to manage your payment methods (https:// wallet.google.com/manage/paymentMethods) 2) Add a new card or change your default payment instrument to one with a billing address located inside your desired country 3) Open the Play Store and navigate to any item available for download 4) Click to begin a download until you reach the "Accept and buy" screen (no need to complete the purchase) 5) Close the Play Store and clear data for the Google Play Store application (Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Clear Data) or clear your browser cache 6) Re-open the Play Store. You should now see the Play Store that matches your default payment instruments billing country. If you haven't yet added a payment method to your account for the first time, please add a card directly from the Play Store with a billing address that matches your intended country location. Then, follow steps 3 through 6 to show your intended country's Play Store. If you believe that you're experiencing a different location-related issue, please first verify if the country of your primary payment method matches your intended country. If the countries match, please provide any screenshots and additional details that might help me resolve your issue. We appreciate your feedback as we continue bringing more content to Google Play. Thank you for reaching out!

I've not been able to get any proxies to let me make an American email account...
"Don't be retarded"
Yup,
I am Canadian and bought two $25 Google Play gift cards on one of my frequent trips to the United States only to find that I cannot use them in Canada and even when I go to the States.
The whole idea was not to have to offer up a credit card to Google. Why would I need the gift cards if I could use a credit card?
When I complained to the Google support line, I got a lame story about "exchange rates". Duh! The money had already changed hands!
I know that I can create a new bogus gmail account when I am traveling to the States and do a factory reset of my device but ... hey!? ... I've never heard of a retailer who would want to discourage a sale.
Google should update it's corporate motto.
Just venting. My apologies for the unhelpful post.
Cheers.

Anyone knows how to do it?

Assuming they are free games, as paid ones will need to be purchased twice. You can use titanium backup to back them up on your account and then restore them into her account. You do need to be root for titanium though.

Sorry - misinformation.
Paid apps do not need to be purchased twice, or restored into her user ID. That would be a really bad idea anyway - you would have two copies of the app.
With root use file explorer to find your save file under /sdcard/o/...something. Copy that file to an identical file structure under /sdcard/1, or whatever number your second user uses.
Apps done the correct way for multi-user never download a second copy. The Play store just sets a link to them in the main user.
Assuming app is available to both:
adb backup/restore might work for unrooted. Me, I'd Titanium Backup if it was important.
On a slight tangent, is there a shared data area that I could put shared files and videos that each user account would be able to view? If so do I need root access? Thanks.

Multi-user is not a developer enrichment scheme.
Your tablet has one owner, and apps are sold to that owner on an account basis - not by user or device ID.
The owner is able to make them available to any other users of that tablet without repurchase.
I suppose you would want an eye sensor, to make sure the person using the app is the one that paid for it?
No need to pay twice.just install twice.
Seems I need root.
I used some file explorer, find this:
/storage/emulated
/storage/sdcard0
/sdcard
All seems point to the same folders.
No sdcard1.
More than this, can't find data game. I have to explain that I have free games (from play store) and paid games (humble pack). If I search imaginarium game with Astro, no resulta found -.-'

Can you clarify this, apps are linked to the gmail account they were purchased with no? I haven't tried multiuser yet but I thought I read from others you have to add the primary gmail account to any secondary account to access the bought apps. Is this not correct? And if it is correct, can one add it only to google play and not have a secondary account access the associated email?

Set up a secondary user. Secondary user needs a Google account. Create a new one if appropriate.
Open Google Play on the secondary user. Click Options, then Add Account. Add your primary account (the one that owns your apps).
You will be given a choice of items to synch - uncheck them all. All you want is app access.
Display your apps (they are now visible to you). Install the ones you want the secondary user to have. They will NOT download - this user just gets a link.
When done, you can delete the main account from this user - or just leave it

I appreciate that, I was just wondering whether there was a shared folder everyone could access as well as completely private areas for each user. Sounds as though there is absolutely no difference between multi user and having two completely separate tablets.

Thanks, but one more thing. If I leave it in google play do they have access to the associated gmail? You could try an 'app lock' app. i've tried 'app lock' on the play store which allows you to pin protect stuff like settings and install/uninstall and other apps - although couldn't lock gmail or certain system apps. So far we have not been able to "Fake Register" the Kindle. Amazon has spent a lot of time

Los911,
Sorry, I should have included that with my last response.
Here are the replacements:
1. Root the Kindle http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069117
2. Install Google Play Store http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069859
3. Then using Google Play Store, search for (then Install);
Google Play Books > Amazon Books
Google Currents > Amazon Newsstand
Google Play Magazines > Amazon Newsstand
Google Play Store Apps > Amazon Apps Store
Google Play Music > Amazon Music
Google Play Movies > Amazon Videos
Google Play Games > Amazon Games
Google Play Store > Amazon Shop
Google Play Books > Amazon Audiobooks
Dolphin > Amazon Web (Silk)
I think that covers it. The Amazon Photos can be replaced by a number of applications, just search Google Play for
Photo Software, over 100 applications appear, most are free.
Let me know if you have any other questions, we are here from 10am to 10pm PST GMT -8

I use Skype, which manages my contacts. Another option is cCloud.
Skype is installed, but not an option to manage my about 150 contacts imported from Outlook.
The point is, I imported all existing contacts to dw contacts, but I'm not able to change anything. When I try to, Amazon calls for a login...
There must be a way around, either with an alternate contacts.app or a fake login.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Let me get a little more information so I can help you. You want to "Fake Register" the Kindle due to not having
a credit card, is this the case? If yes, I have great news, we Developers have Fake Credit Card Numbers (IT IS LEGAL)
that can be used when you run into a company that forces you to use a credit card. Let's face it, not everyone has a
card! In order to install apps on your Kindle Fire you will need an American credit card. In order to install Free apps at
all you need to have an American credit card setup under your 1-click settings in your Amazon Account. Amazon
will check if the credit card you have in your account is an American Credit card, but not charge it when you add
it to your account or download a free app.
Below is a list of test card numbers used by developers for validating check out processes when building web
stores – and guess what, they can be used with Amazon ☺. I have of course not checked all numbers but I
am sure you will find one you can use on the list.
Expiration Date has to be a valid date in the future (use the mmyy format). Also make sure to use a US address
(just Google for one, but make sure you don’t ship any purchases to this address). These cards will NOT allow
you to make a purchase, they are use for testing purposes ONLY. There is nothing illegal about doing this as
long as you do not use this in an attempt to defraud a company. These numbers are Publicly known and are
posted on several development websites, this is where I found the information quite a long time ago.
Please send us a PM, we will respond with the numbers to be used for development purposes only.
Huh, thanks a lot for that much information, but I think, you got me wrong...
The KFHD hardware itself (and the price payed) is perfect for my needs, but I do not trust very much in Amazon's way to handle my data. Therefor I'd like to use the KFHD as an ordinary Android tablet with those apps I like. This worked so far, the device is rooted, Google Market and Go Launcher are installed and most Amazon pre-installed apps were replaced by others - except the above mentioned contacts.apk. I couldn't find a working replacement and all other email or social network applications try to access these contacts, but unfortunately all attempts are denied “You have to login to your Amazon account first“.
Thus no need to play around with fake credit card numbers or so...
Anyway, thanks for your help (although it was not the final solution for my "problem").

Anyway, thanks for your help (although it was not the final solution for my "problem").

nakedtruthishere,
I was not sure, so I wanted to offer you the same solution we offer several hundreds that use
the Kindle Fire overseas. These users are just plain stuck due to the Amazon's geographic
rules. So when we sell the Kindle Fire to people overseas this is there solution. It is not
playing with credit card numbers, it is a simple solution to a known problem with Amazon
and it is 100% legal. We have a large corporation with several attorneys who are retained
by our firm, we discussed this with them before publishing this information. Now that I
understand your problem, I can drill down the applications. Do you have Google Play
installed on the Kindle Fire? If yes, search for "Contact App" or "Contact Manager"
you will find quite a few to replace the Kindle Address Book.

I tried several - none of them worked well.
Now I have DW contacts installed. I have got some contacts imported to DW with another app. So far, so good.
When I want to add a contact to the list or try to change any of them, the old song plays: Please login to your Amazon account...
When I renamed or deleted the OEM contacts.apk, DW contacts prompts "not supported by your system".
Maybe you guys could have a deeper look into it?
Thanks again for any help.

nakedtruthishere,
Good idea, I will ask one of my developers to do a little research, send us a PM
requesting a "Good Address Book for the Kindle", then I will forward to my
dev team. Thanks!

Corporate Addressbook from Vivek M. Lyer
Description
Want to lookup your colleague's information in Exchange but find your Android phone lacking?
Unfortunately the Global Address List (GAL) lookup currently available in Android is limited in functionality. It only looks up email addresses and does not return anything more. This could be frustrating when you are trying to use your phone to look up your colleague's phone number or office location.
This application looks up the GAL contact database, and returns ALL data corresponding to the contact that is available on the server. It also allows you to save the contact information retrieved to your phone for easy access.
This app supports GAL lookups on
- Exchange 2003
- Exchange 2007
- Exchange 2010
- Google Apps for Business/Education
- Zimbra
Thanks to the people assisting with translations:
- jgoldhammer (DE)
- hourglass69 (FR)
This app is NOT ad-supported and is completely free and open-source.

FAQ
- Why does the app need so many permissions?
Once the app looks up a name, there are links next to the phone numbers that allow you to call or send a text to the number. In order to make these links work, the app needs the permissions to make calls and send text messages. Also in order to save the search results to your address book, the app needs to be able to access the accounts on your device and add contacts to the accounts.
- Is this app ad supported or paid?
Nopes, the app is completely free (both like beer and speech). There are no ads, and the source code is available on Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/).
- Why are you asking for my credentials? Are you trying to steal my identity
Unfortunately there is no way to access your account information that is configured on your device. The information you enter in the app stays on the device. Please feel free to audit the code if you are still worried.
- This doesn't work, how can I report an issue?
Please feel free to email me, or report an issue at http://code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/issues/list
- Why is the app not available in my language?
The developers are, unfortunately, not versed in several languages - but you can help! Please join the translatioon effort at http://crowdin.net/project/corporate-addressbook/.
I have tried both address books and found the first one Smartr Contacts to be the best, although they are both solid products - try them both, they are free.
