What's the different about the different upgrade versions in HTC webside?
It can be downloaded by serial number
What will it be? The upgrade program can't work or it will crash the rom?

I think HTC is releasing the update region wise. May be it involves some customization(s) for different regions.

Does anyone have the latest Aus-Hutchison ROM (as posted on the official HTC Australia site)? I purchased my Magic in Singapore & of course surprise, surprise the serial number won't let me down load it!
The ROM ver & other apps are later versions than mine & it refers to a fix for exchange sunc issues whih I have on & off.
Is there a thread which explains how to back up my existing ROM? The Magic is quite different compared to my outgoig HTC Touch Pro! Which I flashed with several different cooked ROMs.
be advised that this rom update will change your phone to a perfected SPL.

Quick question since i am new with windows mobile:
Where can i check my HD2 rom version?
And one more thing:i tried to upgrade to version 1.66(without knowing my current version) from the htc web site,but when i wright down my s/n it says that this upgrade is not for my device.
Btw i have a vodafone/uk contract htc hd2

Go to your settings tab and scroll down to "About Phone". In there, select "Software information". This will tell you the ROM version that you currently have (amongst other things).
The ROM upgrade on the HTC site is for unbranded versions only. If you want an official one for your phone then you have to wait until a Vodafone specific ROM is released. Alternatively, you can flash HSPL onto your device which will allow you to install any ROM, but this invalidates your warranty with Vodafone. If you do want to do that then do some reading in the ROM section. The stickied posts at the top of the forum are great for all levels, from total newbs to experts, so they should answer any questions you have.

i will try to shrt it out since my rom version of my device is 1.43
I've got a HD2 with Vodafone and i managed to update to the last new ROM. I also had problems downloading it and eventually realised i was typing in O's (letters) rather than 0's (numbers). Perhaps try typing it in differently.
ah whatever happened to the good old days when an o was an o and a 0 was an ΓΈ.
My phone is not carrier locked and I updated with the previous (December) official HTC ROM without a problem. However, when I enter my s/n for the new ROM, it says it's not available for my region. I have a copy of the new WWE ROM, can I install it without a problem?

Changing the rom shouldn't change the serial number, double check you are using the correct serial (oh's as zero's perhaps?)

i see theres an update to down,load but the serial number i have has lots of IO or is that 10's in it
also if i do the rom upgrade will i still need to install all the other updates or is this a fix-all?

It sounds like you got your phone from O2, Vodafone or T-Mobile rather than a 3rd party like Phones4U. This means that you can't just download and apply HTC updates.
Fear not - go to the Leo ROM development section on this forum, put HSPL on your phone and then load the latest ROM update from HTC (v1.66). This includes all the latest updates.
Use this UK serial number to download the ROM upgrade:

Probably because you don't have a stock HTC phone, but an operator customized one. You'll have to install HardSPL before you can flash any ROM on your HD2 (HTC official, or cooked)
