Seem to be finding lots of info on not being able to get it from the Market... that is not my problem; found, downloaded, and installed fine.
My problem is that when I go to open it, I get an error about needing an SD card, and then it force closes. I am using an SD card, and it works for everything but this. Tried another one I have around and that didn't help. Not using A2SD, running stock ROM. How do I fix this...?
anyone?

Hey all,
I've searched through this as much as I could, and found a few things, but nothing that's ident.
My problem occurs even after a clean hard reset, and has only happened since the latest ROM update, so if anyone else has it please can you say if you get this problem... or don't...
Basically, my T-Mobile Pro will work fine for a while, but then I go to it any time after 10 mins of being clammed, and with virtually everything I try to load it comes up with an error dialog saying:
"The file 'X' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of tis components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
But this is with EVERYTHING, HTCMesages.exe, HTCCalender.exe, Contacts.exe, TomTom Navigator.exe...... EVERYTHING, ARGH!
The only way to sort it is soft reset, and then everythings okay, for a while anyway... till all of a sudden.....
The only things I've got on apart from the standard T-Mobile ROM is TomTom Navigator 5.21 and PocketBreeze 5. But I'm sure it's nowt to do with either of those...
Please someone, anyone,,, HELP :-/
ARGH! Just after I posted before I hard reset and got it going again.... until now....
1st: Do you use a SD Card? If YES, does the file you try to open in the SD card. Try using a different SD card and see if you still get the same Error Message.
2nd: Do you use WM5torage or Softick's SD Card reader? If YES to either of them, you might have set them on "ACTIVATE" mode then of course you will get the Error message if you try to launch any application on the card while using any of them because you gave the control to your computer to read the card instead. The solution is to keep then on INACTIVE state while using the apps or install them in the Internal Memory rather than the card.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately it's not the SD Card, its core windows mobile applications aswell, like the contacts and messags.
I think it might have been to do with the ROM I was using, I was using T-Mobile's latest (still pretty jurassic though) but switched to the iMate one, and no problems now :-D
Surprised if it is the ROM though, as thought others would have got the error :-/
Here is the solution. I have a Samsung mobile phone and got this error after I installed Samsung's standard multimedia player "Touch Player" into My storage. Then I uninstalled it and re-installed into main storage and it works now.
I appologize if this is in wrong place.
I have been trying to download angry birds on my droid X and as it goes to install I get a failed to download notification and a pop-up that says "unknown reason - 18" does anyone know anything about this or how I can fix it?

I had the same problem. I was able to get it to download after I remove the SD card from the phone. Once the game was install. I reinstall my SD card. That will fix it for now.
I had this happen to a few apps that I had moved to the SD card. Moved them back to phone storage and then they updated fine.
The fix for this is to delete the android.secure folder on the sd card.one of the files there is corrupt. You may need to reinstall a few of the apps listed in there, so you might want to back it up just for app reference.
I had this issue for months until someone gave me this fix, and the issue will cause all sorts of install headaches.
Just realized I can't install apps to SD like angry birds or minisquadron. I figured I need to unmount SD and then load and it works.
Anyone know how I can fix this issue? I tried searching with no luck

are you getting error 18? if you are, i had the same problem today and i searched it on google. people said to delete the file smdl2tmp1.asec in the /sdcard/.android_secure/ directory. unfortunately for me, i didnt have the file so another solution suggeted what you did, unmount sd card, install/update app, mount sd and that worked for me
Once you unmount, install, remount you can then move to SD.

i used to be able to load these items on first try without unmounting.
I think the issue lies with flashing so many roms in the fast few weeks. Going to 322 and back to 318 must have written something to my sd card.
when a new rom comes out, i will move my crap off my sd card, format and try again. That will probably fix it.
i have tried deleting android.secure, data on my external sd, no help.
i also don't have that file on my phone to delete.
I am trying to install an app with an .apk on my sd card. Using the app manage on the phone i try and install it and immediately get the message 'Application not installed'. Usually i would unmount the sd card and try again, and it would usually work, but obviously if the apk is on the sd card, unmounting it makes me no longer able to access the apk to install it. I have also tried the 'Android central sideload wonder machine' to install the app, but got the error 'install failed container error'. I would really like to be able to install this app.
Is there any place that i can put the apk and still be able to access to install it when i have unmounted the sd card, or is there another solution?
Thanks in advance.
Hey
not much specific info in your question so its not poss to give a specific answer, few questions tho...
-is it a system app, e.g. htc camera...
-have you tried to modify the apk, if so, has it been re-signed?
What app are you trying to install?
I am using rafdroid on sd
I have tried two different apps, can knockdown and jet car stunts, both of which failed to install. I haven't modified them.
Thanks.
Cache too small? Would be my first guess but I don't use sd

Its been a while since ive used an sd build, but i remember having similar issues with angry birds, 2 things to try:
1. unmount then remount & try to install
or
2. try installing via your pc using HTCSync
Yay! Installing the application using HTC sync worked
I downloaded HTC sync only yesterday, and removed it thinking i didn't need it!
Thanks again!
Ever since KitKat some of the Apps I've downloaded from Google Play have installed to my SD card by themselves and then are unable to run. I'll have the icon listed on the screen, but when I try to run it it will say "Unfortunately, com.edc.nyc has stopped" for example. I go and look at the app in Applicaton Manager and it's listed as being on the SD card and even though I never moved it there, it installed there. When I try to move it to Device Storage it gives me the same error. This has happened with multiple apps that I have never installed installed on the SD card before kitkat. It's like something has decided to install them to the SD card instead of Device Memory, but they won't run anyway. I uninstall them, clean things up, reboot, and try to install them again and then it installs them to again to SD and they fail to run. Any ideas what would be causing this and how to fix it? My Note's not rooted or anything.

Leave the SD card out and try installing the apps.

Thank you! That worked! It's weird it started doing this all of a sudden though. Are apps allowed to pick and choose where they are installed like that though or would Android be routing the file to the SD? It looks like the apps actually installed on the SD card too which I thought Kitkat was supposed to prevent?
