Just realized I can't install apps to SD like angry birds or minisquadron. I figured I need to unmount SD and then load and it works.
Anyone know how I can fix this issue? I tried searching with no luck

are you getting error 18? if you are, i had the same problem today and i searched it on google. people said to delete the file smdl2tmp1.asec in the /sdcard/.android_secure/ directory. unfortunately for me, i didnt have the file so another solution suggeted what you did, unmount sd card, install/update app, mount sd and that worked for me
Once you unmount, install, remount you can then move to SD.

i used to be able to load these items on first try without unmounting.
I think the issue lies with flashing so many roms in the fast few weeks. Going to 322 and back to 318 must have written something to my sd card.
when a new rom comes out, i will move my crap off my sd card, format and try again. That will probably fix it.
i have tried deleting android.secure, data on my external sd, no help.
i also don't have that file on my phone to delete.

never had any problems with copilot at all, even after changing through multiple roms its always worked.
If you still havent got it working try deleting the copilot folder off your SD card (save a bakup on your pc though) and run copiot to redownload all the files, maps etc.
Hope this helps
I had problems with Co-Pilot as well, I had to delete the folder from my SD card then do a complete reinstall.
Now it works
Have removed it from sd card down loaded again but still unable to get it to run as before I can see both files on sd card also for some reason I now have the voice commands in my mp3 files. I have also used a new sd card. I will try again see if I have missed a step out I loaded it up 3weeks ago with no issues the phone is still on 1.5 and has not been rooted as yet that may change if I am unable to fix this.

As the title suggests, the full version of this game was finally released today. BEWARE, THE SITE KEEPS CRASHING DUE TO THE NUMBER OF HITS:
http://www.getjar.com/
but there are different versions for different android phones and I still haven't found the right one! The fact that the site keeps crashing due the volume of people trying to get the game means that I have only been able to download 2 versions, the desire version and the desire z. I don't even know if there is a version that will work for us yet but, if anyone has the right apk for the HD2 then please post it here.
Thanks

+1 I also have the same problem. I have a stock nexus one rom by tytung, and I cant get this game to work. Any solutions?
It is also in the market. I am downloading it now.
my question might be a bit off topic (don't want to create another thread), sorry about that, i have read in several threads that i need to unmount and then mount my sd card to install angry birds. just wanted to know how that unmounting/mounting procedure will affect the files in my sd card. basically, is there a possibility to loose all the data/files in the sd card? cheers
Yep,
They've released it in the market now so all is good.

I first had to unmount my sdcard before I was able to complete the installation succesfully (Using Darkstone HD version)

I haven't had any problems with mounting/remounting my card. That's not to say that it's impossible to encounter some data corruption but I think you should be fine.

you also have to do this for some apps like Google Sky Map and Gameboid, it never effects the files on your SD card.

as far as I know its not actually unmounting the card, obv we're running android from the card so therefore all sorts of problems would occur no??
I think it just pretends to unmount the card......
not entirely sure though....
Either way, Ive never had any issues.
Also unmounting drastically improves the speed of marketplace downloads......
Not been able to install this bloody game though........... about to try unmounting.
Ive been told it can be installed via ADB, however this involves dl'ing the entire android SDK....... all for a 12meg game about bloody birds........
anyway..... lol
Is there any website to download this game and then install it? I download it fine but installation is unsuccessful ...

Method 1: Go to settings and unmount your SD card. Then open the Market and Download and Install Angry Birds, this will be succesfull and afterwards you can mount your SD Card again.
Method 2: Download Angry Birds (http://www.mediafire.com/?6e1yfy5yg6912nk) and copy it to your SD Card. Next, move the file from the SD Card to internal memory with ASTRO or any file manager. You can place it in the 'cache' folder or something like that. Then unmount your SD card, go to the folder and install the .apk. After the installation is complete, you can mount your SD card again
P.S. Unmounting your SD card will not shut down your Android or make you lose any settings/features. You can safely mount and unmount the SD Card

It'd be nice to get SD Card to unmount on my hd2 with mccm 1.5 build :/ ...
It says unmounting in progress and that's about it - never unmounts it and if I exit and come back to settings - shows option available to unmount - so no angry birds for me
So ive been I having the problem for a few days. It was all good just a week ago. Then suddenly my music player and the gallery containg my photos were unable to find the media on the sd card. But I can play or view the media by manually looking thru file explorer. When it first started to happen i could power cycle my phone and it would go back normal. Does anyone know how to solve this problem with out either getting a new sd card or reformating. Its been sometime since i installed the android nand and dont have the patients to install it again....
I suspect the SD card, if you have a card reader, remove the sd card (remove the battery first of course) and then copy/past all your stuff from each partition to the computer.
Download EASEUS free version and note the partition types and sizes then delet all partitions format and readd the partitions and their contents
If it was me I would just delete all partitions after saving my important photos/music then reformat.
Task 29 and reinstall the rom, only takes a few minutes, if you have done it once or twice already
Then copy the stuff back
Thanks bruh! I thank ima do that. Or I just found my wife's old memory card. Ill just swap it out she wouldn't know the difference... but definitely going try your way first...

Nice to hear
I had been using a 16GB external SD card on my phone and it had been working fine. I decided to swap it out for an 8GB card and now my phone doesn't even see that the card is installed. When I try to mount the card using the storage settings, it tells me that it's preparing the SD card and then it doesn't do anything else.
I've tried reformatting the card, reinstalling CM9, purging both cache and Dalvik. Nothing seems to help. The card works perfectly on my PC. What should I do to get the card to work on my phone?
What happens if you put the 16 back in? Does it mount or does it fall into the same behavior as the 8? So your file explore won't see the emmc or it is just that settings->storage doesn't see it?
Just so we are clear (and I assume you know this b/c you are running nightlies) but I have to ask, you know that External_SD is now the emmc? Sorry.
Thank you for your help. When I put the 16GB back in it acts the same way now. When I browse to the emmc folder with Root Explorer, it shows it as being empty, even though I have the SD Card installed. For some reason, it's just not mounting any of them at all. Very weird.
Did you unmount it before you took it out initially? Maybe try putting it in and rebooting and see if it mounts. Or try rebooting w/o it and them putting it in to see if it remounts. Gotta be something simple cause those are always the hardest to find.
I would suggest a few options then.
1. Post something in the CM9 thread and maybe someone will know a little more about it and possibly some code that you might type in the re-mount it. I have an idea what it would be but I am not running CM9 now, so not sure I can do it ad-hoc.
2. If you can see your internal, then maybe make a nandroid and Odin back to stock 2.1, then reinstall. (but your OP says that you already did that, hmm.)
3. There was a mount fix floating around somewhere on Euphoria or Passion maybe Slim or AOKP. That was mainly for mounting to PC.
See what Faultexception thinks, since he is maintaining the CM9 ROM.
I did unmount it before removing it. I've tried all of the steps you've suggested and even posted on the CM9 thread. Hopefully someone on there has dealt with this before. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I too is having the exact issue, have tried all the above and still nothing.
Haha been having this issue on ics passion for months.. ive just ggotten over it.
My 8gb doesnt work but my exact same model/brand 4gb does.. nothint i can do will fix it.
ive tried secure formatting to every fs imaginable and several other things
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
tl;dr
The card is tested and good (results below), the card reader is good (tested by reinstalling 5.7.4).
So few other people are having this issue, what is going on with my phone?

I've read and read, but no matter what I try, I can't get my SD card to work.
Here's the details of how, and what, I installed on my Sprint S5.
I'm coming from Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 MM, (where the SD card worked fine, but did have a few issues with the camera (used open camera instead) and some post reboot oddness (shortcuts disappearing)).
I first formatted card using the windows software sdformatter to FAT32
copied files to SD card using a card reader plugged into PC.
Files copied
RR-N-v5.8.2-20170304-kltespr-Official.zip
open_gapps-arm-7.1-micro-20170327.zip
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.79-20161211114519.zip
TWRP 3.X
wiped dalvik/cache/system/data
then factory reset
added files to zip queue, Rom, then Gapps, then SU
Flashed
Phone boots fine, initial set up completes.
Tried a reinstall of apps using Ti Pro, but it failed, so started again and used google apps restore during boot. Issues with many apps. So started again, with a "fresh start" option during set up.
I took a few pictures.
I can view them immediately after taking, by pressing the previously taken image image inside the camera app.
Open default Gallery and get the error "No storage. No external storage available."
I installed a+ gallery and it is able to open the images just fine.
Default Files app can browse the SD card.
Aldiko will not download books, as it thinks there is no SD card installed
I've tried (and checking each time)
formatting in card as internal, then back to portable in phone.
Clearing the data/cache for the apps giving errors.
factory resetting
Wiping and formatting the card (on PC to FAT32), and starting again (several times).
Started from scratch again, with a brand new Sandisk card
Tried ZepherOS Zephyr-N Version (Viserion-6.1) Android 7.0
Wiping cache/dalvik only and rebooting
Same "No storage..." error, every time.
I tried ZephrOS. Right after install there is no file manager, but if I click the default app "downloads", I can navigate to the camera folder, then to the image. When I click on it, it opens the image, but still shows the same error "no storage..." even though I'm looking at the image behind the error window. :/
I'm running H2testw, but don't expect an issue, as the same error was on the previous card and the brand new card.
Can I go from 7.0/7.1 to a stock ROM without issues, if so which one?
Update:
SD card test result
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 7.15 MByte/s
Reading speed: 15.7 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
UPDATE #2:
I started fresh with a new install of RR 5.7.4 and the card does still have issues with some apps, but is working fine with others. Open camera works fine, and the gallery access the correct card in this ROM. Aldiko still fails as it's trying to download to /sdcard
Most apps are looking for /sdcard but I have /sdcard1
If it helps, it appears sdcard is symlinking to /storage/self/primary
Anyone able to help?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, settings>apps>settings>App permissions>Storage is turned on.
Aldiko, for example, is looking for /sdcard but it doesn't exist. I'm thinking a symlink might fix the issue? But am not familiar enough with Android under the hood, to know what other issues that might cause.

FAT32 this was recommend in most places I read. I thinks it's a paths issue. I'm not sure the format would make a difference to that, right?

A fresh install would resolve any path issues. The device can't read the card, which means that it's formatted incorrectly or is incompatible. How did you format it originally? On a computer? Go into the storage menu, and if it's detected, then try using the native Android option to reformat it. Back up your stuff first.
If that fails, try formatting it in recovery.

Thanks, I know the OP was long, but I hoped the details of what I'd already tried would be appreciated. I did several fresh installs trying to fix, and formatted every which way I could in phone and on a PC. Nothing has worked.
I've kind of given up on this and have decided to switch to Verizon. Sprint sucks so bad, after 10 years I've finally had enough, so I have to replace the phone anyway.
If you know of a decent phone to get, I'm looking for a recommendation in this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/switching-to-verizon-200-phone-t3588790
Thanks for your attention to my issue. Sorry it's left unresolved. I run my own business and just can't spend this much time fixing my phone.
