I dont know if its me... it seems like my data usages on sprint.com keep resetting. Currently my data usage says 17mb... pretty sure I downloaded more data than that.
Do you think whenever I do a full wipe, the data resets on the sprint website? anyone else notice this?
I don't think the number that they give you is too reliable. I checked my data usage a few times and got random numbers. Sometimes it'd say 600+ mbs, then i'd check again the following day and it said that i had used 87 mbs. The number kept jumping around
Just download an app that tracks ur usage from the market place...that works for me..

I been connected to wifi for the past 3 hours. I got on my work computer and registered on ATT.com for an online account. Which at that time I noticed that I had only used 4mb of data. I then played with my phone for about 5-10 minutes while still on wifi. I then got back online and logged into my ATT account to sign up for the insurance and I just so happened to check the data and noticed that it was at 9mb...or something like that.
So basically ATT is using wifi data usage towards the allotted 2GB of data.
No. It doesn't update instantly, it takes a while. During that lag you probably used data.
What FLAC said. There is anywhere from a 2-8 hour lag on data usage being updated on the web. Same as call or text history, sometimes calls might even be 24 hours before showing up online.
Oh ok....thanks everyone. I was just a little worried.

Yeah, me especially. I've used 900MB over wifi. I've used about 6MB over network. I have a 200MB data plan.
Hello ladies and dudes
I have HTC HD2 TMOUS and obviously my carrier is TMOBILE US.
I was checking different roms for it and I noticed one thing.
On some, if not most, htc sense roms I was able to receive facebook, email, twitter, etc updates without having a data plan nor wifi.
I believe I have had data turned on the phone but I do not have actual data plan.
So I was working and had to check something on the phone and accidently opened email. And I noticed that it started to sync and I was like "Meh, whatcha doing stupid, I have no data plan". But All suddenly it pulled all recent email and I was able to read them even with images.
Then I tried facebook widget thing and it was pulling data too, as well as twitter.
Then I switched to vanilla froyo rom and the data thing was gone
Now I am wondering, is there a specific port that tmobile provides for free data but with maybe limited speed? or bandwidth?
Or maybe special APN settings?
I would love to see that back because it's kinda useful sometimes.
Hope someone can explain to me what it was about and if it's possible to get back.
P.S. I didn't have my wifi turned on. Plus it worked at different locations but only with data turned on in settings and with 3g+ on.
P.P.S. I did not get charged for data and I do not have data plan for sure.
P.P.P.S. I know tmobile provides free 2mb when you open new line, but this isnt my case, had this line for about half a year.
P.P.P.P.S. I don't care if the speed is 20kb/s or 3kb/s or hell 1kb/s
Woah that's awesome, Although I know nothing about T-Mobile Policies etc. Firstly though, Are you sure you haven't been charged?
sorry if im skeptical but i find it hard that your OS is affecting when you are able to get your data. Also, if you are getting data i would assume that your carrier is billing you like crazy without you realizing it
Go to my T-Mobile. Com and see if u have any data show up in ur usage. But I know that T-Mobile wont automatically add data plan to your account without notify you.
As I wrote before. I have double checked and I have NOT been charged extra.
I beleive that kernel might have something in it or APN settings.
I got a text from o2 on Sunday saying I'd used 80% of my data allowance—a huge amount since Tuesday!
I've disbaled data for now while I try and figure out what's gone wrong.
I checked the stats on the phone under network usage and it seems that 'Media' has been using the most (nothing else comes close). This has DRM Protected Content Storage, Download Manager, and Media Storage in the package.
I've been on the same ROM for ages (Rod's MIUI) and haven't installed any news apps recently…
Anyone have this problem before or know what's gone wrong??
Have you been using Pandora or another online radio app? Streaming movies?

Use Network Counter by mapeapps to get an idea of what is using data...
I use Google Listen Alot by the end of the month I used 2 GB minimum of data
SPB Mobile Manager will tell you which apps are download/uploading and how much
I've got an app called Monitor (it came with the ROM) that lists the apps and what they've used. Download Manager is listed as having used it all.
I haven't been streaming anything unusual no.
Does anyone know what Download Manager would be used by? I've disbaled it's 3G access and turned my data back on, I'll see how things go...

For me, a single 3 hour podcast ( I <3 listen) is 90+ meg. Add a little bit of twitter and facebook into the mix, 2G is easy to break in one billing cycle.
This is just silly now. I've disabled Download Manager with firewall but it's still using data, apps must be using it and my monitor isn't logging it as the app but that process.
I've had data turned off all day apart from a couple of times to check mail but I've just checked and I've somehow used over 50MB!
Can anyone help?
I think I've figured out what's happened if anyone is interested.
I've had the Android update alert popping up for ages now but I was waiting for Rod to update his ROM before I installed a new one. It's gone now so I'm guessing it's been trying to download the android update in the backgroud whenever I've had a signal.
Serves me right to not updating to a ROM that gets rid of the update alert I guess.
This is gonna be a fun month with no data allowance…
Are O2 that stringent about their data caps or are you a frequent abuser? It pisses me off no end that caps are even in place, especially on 'unlimited' plans, but when they get all pedantic it makes me rage!
FWIW, Vodafone have always been good to me if you're ever thinking of switching. And i abuse the hell out of my data allowance
I've used the full 500MB so I've turned data off, rather not face a large bill...
I've updated ROM from Rod's 2.5 to 2.9 as it had apparently removed the updater. I did this today, in the last few hours Media Storage has used 265MB (on wifi as I still have 3g disabled) even though I've been doing nothing.
Anybody have any clues as to what's going on? I've tried googling with no luck. I did see a couple of similar sounding things and mention of a patch to disable OTA updates... anybody know anything about it?
I started with Simple Mobile last month on December 5th. I went with the $50 Unlimited everything plan. I only get data coverage whilst at work (which is fine for me because I use WiFi at home) and I pretty much knew better than to download or really stream anything due to the numerous "horror" stories about MVNO's having shady practices, cutting off your service out of nowhere or having unspoken/unwritten data caps. I typically just surfed the web during downtime at work and this was all I used as far as mobile data is concerned. I installed data monitoring apps to make absolutely certain no rogue apps were using data without my knowledge.
I was absolutely floored with how good my 3G speeds were, especially considering I was coming from Big Red. I regularly was getting ~3Mbps download and similar for upload, strangely. I check my DL speed frequently and especially so after installing new ROMs (just got my Nexus S and I have spent the better part of this month finding a suitable ROM/Kernel combo that I like).
Jan. 3rd rolls around. I try updating an app and I notice that it is taking an extraordinarily long time, even though it is only a few MB's in size. I do a speedtest and, sure enough, my speed is limited to 200Kbps. I then log into my account and see that my data usage was at 2090 mb's (just over 2gb). I check the forums (both the Simple Mobile forums and numerous others found via google search) and confirm through multiple posts of people reporting similar things with the main difference being that many other people get an SMS notice, then cut off, only to have their service restored upon account "ReUp" (when you renew your plan). 2gb seems to be there unspoken/unwritten data cap.
As I said: my account ReUp occurred on the 5th. I still have garbage DL speeds to this day. I have called Customer Service a couple times a day for the past 3 days and they have claimed to have reset my data (or something like that) only for it to do nothing. Today I called the "Corporate Escalation Line" and it seemed to simply be another Indian call center..... They have had me reboot my phone and the whole nine yards. Multiple times they have claimed that my phone isn't even compatible with 3G service on their network (which is false, but whatever).
I am but one person and I don't expect this to serve as a "absolute proof you should never in a million years use Simple Mobile", but instead as a cautionary tale.
Secondly, I would like to reach out to anyone who has possibly run into this (unlikely) and what they did to rectify it (besides switching MVNO's). I will be going to T-Mobile next month, but I will have to do much better at monitoring my minutes.
I am currently on AOKP MS 1 (or however AOKP delineates itself. It's Android 4.1.2 because I don't like 4.2) running Matr1x kernel. I am about to try a different ROM just so I can say I tried everything....
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but the free unlimitedmusic streaming seems to be counting against my high speed data. I checked my tmobile app and pandora shows 6mb of data used today(1st day of billing cycle) and my phone shows 56mb of data used today by Pandora.
I am new to tmobile so wondering if I am missing something here? Are the ad's being counted against my LTE data bucket? Thanks!
interesting question....I'm sure you could call T-Mobile support and ask them to track your data usage

It depends what plan you are on. I have the unlimited txt talk and 1gb lte and stream music everyday with soundcloud, beatport, and youtube. I have had no issues with these. Normally tmobile sends you a txt when you are close to your limit.

The built in meter doesn't differentiate the data usage. Also advertising and anything not streaming related like album art, and lyrics do count against your data albeit should only be like 50MB a month depending how often you leave it on.

I am going to keep monitoring it and see what it is towards the end of the month. Right now Samsung milk music is showing 20mb used on my phone usage screen 2nd day billing cycle and tmobile app has 15mb....there is no way 15mb could be from album art ads etc etc right?
Whats weird is I used Pandora mainly and my phone reads 60mb and yesterday tmobile app showed 5mb and today it isn't even on list.
You'd be surprised how. You are looking at them individually and not collectively. All that stuff isn't downloaded one at a time, but collectively.
