I don't know if I'm missing something but is there a way to automatically delete the tiles in Timescape like say... if more than 2 days old or after reading/viewing it? I leave my phone for an hour and messages, emails, FB updates pile up and it's just way too much and really waste a lot of time to drag and drop each one to the trash can.
In Mediascape, is there a way to create custom playlists without using 3rd party media player?
I cant find a way to delete the history, except perhaps by deleting old SMS, MMS etc.
But you do have settings in timescape to select what to show, like twitter, facebook, email, sms, mms, camera and so on.
Just press the menu button in timescape.
I guess you already seen this..
Nevermind the Mediascape question. I finally figured it out.
mattiL, yeah the options are just to filter out the items you don't want in tiles/spline. I only wanted the sms/mms, FB and twitter in Timescape anyway coz my email gets messages about account infos sometimes. But still, there's nothing about deleting old entries, all messages, etc..

Hi,
I found a couple of threads about Timescape not showing all updates, but all of those are solved by not killing Timescape. I have Timescape on the ignore list of my task killer, but still experience two problems:
1. E-mails
I use the standard e-mail app. I have added two e-mail accounts. When I started using the phone, only the "standard" account was shown in Timescape. OK, I thought. After a couple of weeks, Timescape stopped showing new e-mails, even though they were downloaded into the e-mail app without problem. After a lot of restarting, task killing, disabling, enabling etc, I deleted the account from the e-mail app. I added the account again, and voila - problem solved, AND both e-mail accounts appeared in Timescape. However, it is not convenient to delete accounts every time Timescape screws up. Anyone experiencing similar problems?
2. Phonecalls
What phonecalls does Timescape show on your phones? My phone only seems to show outgoing phonecalls that were picked up. But it does not even show all of those - some calls that exist in my log do not exist in Timescape. I would like to see ALL outgoing phonecalls that were picked up, but also all incoming phonecalls that I answered. Is that possible? Doesn't it make sense to show ALL communication by default? Deleting the account solved Timescape's e-mail problem, but I don't think there is a way to delete/reset its connection to the phone, or what...?
I can't figure this Timescape out either and I'm not new to any mobile software.
My issue was the call log. I would take four or five calls and Timescape would show one I got earlier that day.
I'm sure it works well, I just haven't given the effort to figure it out. If I want to see my call log, that's where I go.
I am extremely satisfied with the device overall.
Timescape only shows Miss Call though. I also wish I could show other call log.
Can anyone help me here, everytime i go on timescape it just says 'Welcome! Tap this tile to set up Timescape'. But everthing is setup(facebook, twitter, email). Could some one please help me
As much as i like Timescape as a concept, its facebook integration just plain sucks.
The facebook app doesnt do what i want either.
Essentially i just want an app (preferably that runs in the background and doesnt need a widget) that will notify me of changes to my news feed.
Simple enough request i would have thought, but i havnt found anything like that.
Any ideas?
Thanks
You mean like you get a notification whenever any of your friends post anything?
With the Facebook app, you can turn on notifications so that whenever you get a notification on Facebook, it shows up in your status bar...
The official facebook app only notifies for Messages, Friend Requests and Event Invites as far as im aware.
Id like the news feed...
You mustn't have many friends if you want a notification every time someone posts something. My phone would probably never stop vibrating if I did something like that.
You can try the Facebook widget from the app, that updates when people post stuff.
Correct, i try and keep it under 100 friends.
I dont really care about peoples status updates but i do want to see when pics are posted etc
Please can someone tell me how to remove Facebook birthdays from the calendar? It's added hundreds and now my calendar is dead, wont work at all.
Thanks
Matt
Done this today to try and find out why Calendar is eating so much power... Open the calendar, Menu, More, Calendars and then uncheck the Facebook one.
Still uses a very high% of battery...
I'm new to Android so I have a few noob questions, my HD is on pre order and I need to clear this up first before I get the phone. When you sync it for the first time with Facebook does it let you choose what you want to sync or does it automarically sync your Facebook friends into your contacts and calendar etc. ? Basically I just want the Facebook app on my phone but I don't want it to integrate into my contacts, calendar etc.
clear your calender cache and files in. options --> applications --> all installed applications --> calender.
Holy crap, now my calendar is using 60% of my battery!!! What a pile of junk! That's AFTER removing all the facebook stuff.
No way should I have to wipe all my calendar entries cos of this crap. I had to clear my news app cos that broke last week.
This phone is getting worse and worse, simple things that should work without trouble are constantly being a pain in the arse.
Calm down man. Check your sync settings with Gmail/HTCSense. If they are too frequent (or push) lower the frequency. If they are normal try reading a little bit on the subject. It's called a smartphone because sometimes it thinks on itself and that means doing things u don't want/like. U just need to be smarter than it
Some people complained of the hungry Calendar as well and for many the issue was that they had more than one widget using calendar on the homescreens. If u got let's say Agendas, Calendar and Friendstream as widgets try removing one or two
success
Thanks. For my homescreens I have...
News / Calendar / Blank (shortcuts) / Clock and shortcuts / Email / Friendstream / Bookmarks.
All my syncing is like 2-4 hours.
The calendar running at 60% explains why I've been getting occasional days with bad battery usage (which is normally ok for a few days after restarting the phone).
I've now wiped the calendar, uninstalled the Facebook one (or rather just didn't reinstall it). Restarted the phone and I'm gonna see what happens today now.
Looking for an app suggestion folks, the one thing I really loved about my old htc with sense was the way it organised all my emails, text messages, Facebook updates etc and attached them to the relevant contact card. You could go into a person's contact card and see their latest status, public photo gallery, call logs and messages etc no flicking from app to app to find out did that person text me or email me or messenger me.
Any suggestions of apps to add this sort of functionality to my S4?
I'm not rooted and still under contract so wouldn't want to so no custom room's please.
Thanks
Jon
Any suggestion folks?
I've tried Contacts + which is quite nice but doesn't do Chaton or email and I've tried the various Go Contacts app's which are mostly awefull.
Really looking for something to tie in emails.
I'm using the gmail app right now, but I'm trying to switch over to the stock app to take advantage of the aod email notifications (for the time being anyway....). I'm not sure if i'm missing something or I'm the biggest noob around or what, but I can't seem to archive new gmail messages from the inbox or the stock email app. My options are swipe right: Move,Set Reminder,Unread,Reply ... swipe left: Delete. I noticed if I move messages, I have to select a folder to put them in. This marks then as read, however, I would like to simply archive my messages and have them appear in 'All Messages' without having a label attached to them. Is this possible and I'm totally missing something? Or is this just gonna happen? I realize this is more of a standard email client, but given the amount of gmail accounts out there, this is something I would expect would be available for a google email account. I will stick to the Gmail app for now, but would be nice to know, even just to get the oad notifications, thanks.
ps - I searched the forums first, but if I missed the answer already, sorry.
tldr: Archive in Samsung mail client ... where is it?
Don't think you are going to get it with the stock app. However, when Nougat rolls out for the S7 I am hoping the AOD will also update to show all notifications.

Albeit a little late to reply to you, but I ran into the same issue.
The answer basically is that in Gmail terms, archiving a message means removing all tags from it.
You can do this on the Samsung mail app by "moving" it to "all messages" folder...it sucks, I know
Well, I'm not 100% to your liking, but I did not use either both gmail or samsung mail. I switched to bluemail. If you want, you should try

It's the same as on iPhones I think, where a gmail account on their default email client app will go straight to delete.
Moreover, as Yahoo app does the same (I think), the outlier might actually be Gmail which doesn't let you delete, but only archive emails.
