I'm working on a custom rom for my incredible, and I've run into a weird issue i'm hoping some one can help me with. Everything was fine until I deodexed it using dsixda kitchen, now in this latest version, I can't connect to google servers. 3g and wifi both work because I can pull up web pages, get the weather, and use facebook. but everytime I try to sign into google, nothing happens. The 3g icon doesn't even do anything, like it's not even trying.
error is: "You don't have a network connection"
but I do, everything else works.
any suggestions?

I'm using outlook, and it seems that when I try to connect (send/recieve) to get my email ,it says 'logging on...' and sits there for at least a minute. When it finally connects it takes mere seconds to download all my mail. Why is it so slow doing the log in step. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm doing this thru wifi only. Are there better email clients for win mobile? Thanks

Yeah mine also does this sometimes. Im not sure what it could be but it could just be the fact that it is connecting, authenticating, searching for changes, if any then it downloads them according to your settings, and then it closes the session. Your WiFi speed can effect this too. If this is the case try networking your connection or just do something simple as committing more functionality to your signal by changing the slider menu on the Wireless LAN Power Save Mode in favor of best performance.
All that might not seem as much but all those processes create a lag. (some may say that the new 3.27 might be the issue if you flashed to this radio, but this happened to me even with the original verizon radio)
What I am real curious about is if this is just outlook and everyone has this issue, or something to do with my config/provider, etc. Everything else is super quick with the status, when I have large emails I am downloading, it is quick. The only step that takes a long time is the logging on, the connecting, looking for changes and downloading steps are quick. Also IE, streaming video, etc all all quick, so I really doubt it is my connection. And the same speed for my home network vs. my work network.
I has the stock rom, flashed to the new radio, wm6.1, etc...and the issue still exists. I guess I am going to try other clients out there unless anyone has some suggestions or tweaks that can be made.
Thanks
when I try to install applications, it just say "starting download" and stopped there.

I've had this problem before, not with the Nexus One. Probably a ROM thing? because I haven't seen that problem lately when using Eclairs @@ While your downloads are frozen, launch GTalk and try to change your status. It will probably say disconnected. Launch it again to connect to GTalk, and then the downloads should resume
I can not even signin to Gtalk, it said " can not connect to server"
The Gmail working OK.

Yeah that's the problem. Launch it again. At least it should re-connect.
If it still doesn't connect, I guess the issue is server-side then.
can signin from the desktop,
do you know how to restart the Nexus One? Should I hold on the power button to restart the phone?
Holding the button can turn the phone off. Haha
I try again after it restart
still can not sign in to Gtalk.
I need go home now, thanks
still not working. does anyone else have this problem?
Do you have an android data plan with T-Mobile? If not have them add it and it should start working.
No, I use Wifi to connect to the internet.
It's the unlock nexus one.
I have a very similar issue. I was able to connect to my WPA2 network once when I first tried, but now I am unable to connect to any wireless network. The Wifi radio is on. When I go to the Wi-Fi settings window under Settings and bring up the menu to select Scan, I don't see any networks display even though I know there are multiple around (and I can see them from my laptop).
Are you still able to connect to your network and view others when you scan? What do you think could be my problem and is there anything else I can try?
yes, it can find and connect to WiFi.
the internet is working, but cannot download.
try turn wifi off, then turn it on again.
sometimes this will work
I also wonder if one could download from Nexus market place applications that was purchased from a non-Nexus market place without being charged again.

Paid apps are linked to the Google account, not the phone. You can download them again.
I ran into two problems:
1. Some paid apps may not be listed in the market for the N1. (a2b is one example.)
2. Some apps may use other licensing or activation techniques that are device-locked. I was unable to activate CoPilot Live due to this. I haven't checked with ALK to see what their policy is on device replacement.
Was there any solution to this ? I just got a Desire and also cannot connect to gtalk or download from market.
I have the same problem on my HTC Hero with market place. Can search and add download but always shows "Starting download" nothing happens other than that. Was working a few hours a go but well doesn't anylonger..All other net apps work such as web browsering messaging and email.
help..

This is a known issue, it's been there at least since Android 1.5. Can't believe Google still didn't fix it. It probably happens more frequently if you switch between 3G network and WLAN, and a lot of users with unlimited data plans don't use WiFi at all. The fix is simple, start Google Talk, press menu, log out, and start Google Talk again.
cuitao, where are you from? What provider are you using (for the Internet connection backing the WLAN)?
Since your only having the trouble on WiFi, have you checked that the ports are open on your router &/or firewall?
Port 5228 for the market - open it, but don't forward it if you have DHCP enabled otherwise if you get a new IP address next time you connect the problem will be back again
Non branded hd2 on stock wwe 1.66 rom on t-mobiles network. For some strange reason I can connect to Marketplace via t-mobile but not through my home wifi, on wifi it says unable to connect to server, pls check your connection (the that it has encountered a serious problem), but my connection is fine as I can surf via wifi no problem. I uninstalled marketplace, soft reset, reinstalled, still ith problem persists, anyone else have this?
BUMP
some mobile programs require a cellular data connection to work properly. I'm guessing marketplace is one of them.
On second thought, looks like I can access Microsoft Marketplace on wifi. Are you sure that your wifi is working and doesn't require going through an approval process? (Some wifi's have a home page that you have to agree to terms on before you can access)
I had the same problem with Active sync with a cable I could surf the internet but couldn’t access market place downloads (Marketplace could not cannot connect to a server) so I disconnected and just connected to the modem Wi-Fi and no problem with Market Place all downloaded.
Strange
Had this issue myself with T-Mobile,
After months of searching it would appear that the problem was that Marketplace requries and authentication code and at some point when using the phone this was switched off.
From what I read the person didnt know how to change it within the phone but could view that it was turned off, they put on a new ROM and Marketplace flew into action.
I followed this and also slapped on a new ROM..... has worked for me and am using Marketplace to the best of its abilities.
Basic answer....flash a new ROM!
So, I took the plunge and using unrevoked3 I rooted my HTC Wildfire. After doing so, I was looking for ROM's to toy around with and see how they worked. I found the WildPuzzleROM and flashed it using Clockmod recovery. Everything seemed to be going fine until I left the apartment and loss my wifi connectivity and tried to use my data connection to get on the internet. If I reboot the phone or turn off connections using airplane mode I am able to use apps like Gmail and Facebook fine, but when I try and use the internet icon a check mark goes under the 3G symbol and it says I have no connectivity. I tried re-flashing with the ROM again but it still doesn't seem to work. And unfortunately for me, I didn't back up my original factory ROM (if that is what you would call it) so I'm not even sure how to try and get it back to before I did this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I got the exactly the same problem.
I solved it by from market download and install a different browser.
In my case i download Dolphin HD internet browser.
Works like a charm
I had the the same problem, after flash 0900_orginal_framework_stock_battery_icon_v5.zip browser with 3G working!!!!:
I use WildPuzzleROM v8.0.1
reminds me a bizzare CynogenMod bug GPS disabled 3G
the solution was to the mobile network APN and remove all but one APN
(usually you use only one APN anyhow)
The browser may also ask for location which can cause the effect you described.
Thread is in weong section. This has nothing with development.
I've got Android 2.1 running on my HD2, works pretty well aside from the occasional app crash. However, not matter what I try I can't log into my Google account. I enter my (correct) username and password, then it sits for a few minutes and comes back with "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". Data seems to be working, I can browse the web and the maps app works ok, it just won't connect my Google account. I know we're in highly-experimental territory here, but does anyone know of a way to fix this?
I had the same problem. Make sure background data is turned on, that should fix it.
Hmm, background data was already selected. I tried turning it off and back on again, still can't log into Google. Any other suggestions?

Connect via wifi the first time while you set up and sync. After that you should be good to go on your normal data connection.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I've had this problem on DesireHD or Evo ROMs, but never on a Desire ROM.
I can't connect to Wifi either. It gets as far as "Obtaining IP address", sits there for a few minutes then reports "Unsuccessful". I can connect when booted into Winmo, so it's not a problem with the AP/password.
Maybe I'm just using the wrong Android release, can anyone suggest a good one (with download link if possible?) Thanks!
I have very much enjoyed Bangsters ROMs. They are based on Cyanogen and everything works, including accurate camera flash. If stock android is your thing then go with this.

Ah, downloaded and installed the latest Bangster, everything seems to be working properly. Thanks for all the help!
