hey guys,
I have a basically new vibrant (no scratches or scuffs) that is stuck in the phone-!-pc screen after using odin to flash a new firmware. I'm kinda new at this and am tired of trying to figure out how to get it working.
I'm willing to sell it for low price.. if there's anyone interested hit me up at [email protected]

you can also pull battery, put battery back in. hold vol+/vol- while plugging in USB, that might work too.
I'll take it off your hands for $100
i dont blame you, but remember the vibrant is almost unbrickable. if you cann see pc screen or charging status icon your good. keep trying then sell it for max profit
Ill send you 110.

Sell it full price dude people r gonna try to scam u but u can fix this in 5 minutes.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
well you dont need to pull a battery either... you just hold the up down volume toggle along with the power but and when the screen goes black immediately remove your finger from the power button while still holding up down volume toggle. this will place u back into download mode. don't sell your phone because of frustration. you cant brick this phone.
120 right now. Me me me!

Hey Ryan - thanks for selling the phone to me for $130.
You received my PayPal payment and I am still waiting to receive tracking information.
Under normal circumstances, a message like this would be more appropriate to send through private channels, but I have tried emailing you for three days and calling you back at your google voice number without success. You were very easy to get a hold of before I paid, but seem to have vanished the moment I requested tracking information.
I hope you are not up to something sneaky. I assume with your online presence on twitter, in your blog, and elsewhere, that you're not trying to deceive me, and that you've simply decided to take a break from the internet and from your phone for a few days.
Hmm, except your twitter account was updated just hours ago?
Further googling shows you're actually an Android Developer. Therefore, you probably pretty much know this phone is permanently bricked, but when we talked you came across as though you weren't familiar with procedures for recovering from a soft brick. I find that difficult to believe given your Android experience.
Send me my brick, or send me a refund.
I bought a bricked phone, yes, but right now I feel like my brain is bricked for buying it.
Due diligence folks, due diligence.
I'm on my third one. Just call tmobile tell them your not sure what happened. It's a known issue and if it's in good physical condition they will send you a new one.

Don't give up cuz I was in the same position. Plus the best way to learned is from your mistakes. YouTube & Google good tools to learn. YouTube give you visualization & Google the reading understanding part. I believe you can fix your phone no need to sale it. One thing you need to be patient if not you are not going to learn. Without being patient is important in doing all this learning about Android OS. Modifying, rooting & flash customs roms.
Me... sometimes I want to take my hair off cuz it gets to be but I remember to be patient.
Lucky you that he sold the phone to you.

That's what you get for trying to rip him the **** off.
My Magic has stucked at "HTC MAGIC" logo ,no access to fastboot or whatever. I live in cyprus. I've sent it to different people that where "experts" to bring it back to "life" but nothing. Someone told me that he tried jtag method but nothing happened too. He told me that propably there is something wrong with mainboard and it has to be changed. Is that possible? Or they are fooling me around? Anw, as i said before i live in cyprus so i don't know if there is someone who can make this phone work again. Can you suggest someone abroad? To be more specific someone in London (London centre). I have friends there they wouldnt bother doing that small favour to me.
Thanks in advance
I had same problem and tried one London repairer(others were too expensive unfortunately) who gave it back to me as not repairable - totally wasting my time because I don't think they even had a riff box. I then sent it off to Fonefun and they have restored it, but due to the imcompetence of local post I'm still waiting to get it back after it being sent back last Thurday!!
I can report back properly once its in my hands, but I do think they are worth a look at (just google fonefun). You can chat to them online which could be useful as you're not in the UK.
update: got phone back and it works. Royal mail are funny though, not.
thanks for ur reply, i've sent it last week so i'm waiting. hp it works!
Glad to be of help. I hope they succeed with yours like they did with mine.
They certainly know what they are doing, however I don't think cleaniness is exactly one of their top priorities, mind you my shiny brick did become a dirty working magic so I'm happy.
It'd be interesting to know how you get on.
They are the best! They fix it and sent ot back to me in three days time! (Cyprus mail sucks btw! It took them almost 10 days to put my package on a flight! ) As u can see magic is still alive! Thanks again for ur help!

Excellent news - glad it worked out ok for you! I found communication to be one of Fonefun's strongpoints, as for postage, unfortunately for both of us that one is out of their control!
I've been using this phone for about four months brand new back in July. I was using my phone just perfectly yesterday with my power fully fuctional. Then it seemed like the button got stuck without a click and limited use, when i pushed down really hard. Now it seems like it feels like it did normally but now it does't work. My phone died and i tried to power it back on and nothing happened. Please help!! ):
The phone is borked. Call t mobile. They should send you another one.
The power button isnt something you can work around. And you might be able to fix it if you cracked the phone open....but why void the warrenty when they will give you a replacement now?
Faulty Power button is apparently on their list of known issues with the mt4g. I had to replace mine as well over the summer.

You don't need to press it very hard..I have never had any problems with it.
My power button has been hard to push for a couple months and I finally decided to call in cuz my year is almost up. After being hassled and having to call three times, I'm somehow getting a replacement (this will be my 4th MT4G in a year) and also a new phone for shipping costs, $5.99.
I picked the Amaze, but I'm not certain on it and can trade it if I want. If you had to pick a new tmo phone right now, what would you get?
And also, call tmo and keep telling them you're not happy. Worked for me...

Just a few questions are you rooted, if you so what are you running. I had an issue where my home key stopped working,I just restored an old back up, an it worked after that. Try fixing permissions.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

The Amaze or Sensation are the direction I'd go. I'd probably steer toward the Sensation just because it's a little older and the rooting hacks have been found (not sure if they have for the Amaze yet) and because there's a CM7 available for it that's not perfect, but it's supposed to be good enough for a daily user.
I don't know how you pulled that off. I've had my MyTouch for 3 months and am already on my 4th one and they refuse to offer me anything but the 4GSlide, which I REALLY don't want with the thicker chassis and smaller screen. Plus I hate slidey keyboards.

They're getting there with the Amaze, no s-off but there's.ROMs and kernels...hopefully the dev scene grows.
I'm amazed it happened, too. I've been with tmo for like 12 years, but they also put the whole contract (5 lines) in a new 2 year, without telling me, ha. I think I told them about ten times I wasn't happy and that they needed to make me happy, so they finally did.

I just called on Friday... Offered me a sensation & I took it. Will be here Monday. I loved this phone but have touchscreen responsiveness issues. I figured I'd take the sensation & if I don't like it, they have a higher resale value than the glacier. Gonna miss these forums & AMAZING devs tho...

It might be a grounding issue for the screen, which is fixable. Are they making you send your mytouch 4G back?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yes, I'm sending it back. This is my 4th or 5th phone in a year... I tried that grounding thing with the pin/foil, nothing seemed to work. I took the sensation figuring if I hate it, I could sell it for more or trade + cash for something I'm into... Naturally the steps I'm taking are: open box, root phone, enjoy.

Best of luck to you. Development is rocking and rolling for the sensation from the looks of the dev forum.

Please Guide me i am in very difficult situation...
i am going to buy mytouch 4g but i am really afraid of that so called " Bad Chip " issue ..
i am in asian country so no return or no warranty ..
so any one please help me what to do should i buy or not to buy i like to flash roms and etc
and i want to use it like a android should be used please need a little time of you to save my money...
This is not the best phone on the market...but if you buy it anyway, you should not have problem with bad chips unless you start flashing different rom on your phone..
I agree with above, this is not the latest phone out so you will be outdated by almost over 2 years, but if you still buy it just don't start flashing ROMS like a maniac. I have had no problems on either my phone or my wife's phone.
It's still an awesome phone. Go for it, the chip issue isn't a dealbreaker, I've had 4 "bad chips" and thus far, no 'Failed pu'

I agree with jjbadd, my friend has been flashing roms on his "bad chipped" MT4G for a good year and change now with no problems at all. I'd say go ahead and buy it, we get a lot of good roms on our phone. There is the risk of getting a faulty chip, but if you're willing to take that risk you'll enjoy the phone a lot.
I received a dysfunctional Vibrant last week. It was literally being tossed. I knowing that most phones I've had the pleasure of working with/on are very durable and extremely difficult to destroy minus dropping it off an highrise building and subsequently being ran over by an 18-Wheeler! And then some sometimes.
So I took this beautifully constructed beginning of an dynasty smartphone under my noob wing. I wrestled with what may be the main issues. I began by reading up on known issues, reading, then rereading how to disassemble the unit, and then getting my hands dirty.
Turns our that there were a mix of issues. Beginning with somebody taking the phone for a swim and ending with somebody else somehow starting the phone and bricking by haphazardly erasing info from the phone.
First things first: getting power to the phone. I took a page out of repairing a couple of laptops and smartphones with previous water damage. That is by disassembling the phone carefully, checking for the extent of the water damage, and carefully cleaning with a soft toothbrush, deionized water, lint free cloth and plenty of patience.
It took me a couple of attempts, but I finally got her up and running. Now I'm finishing the job by installing a stable & reliable ROM. Just wanted to share that somebody elses trash is another mans tool to learning and gaining more knowledge.
It may be two years old, but she still runs great. And it is an excellent introduction to Android for my mother.

You picked a good phone to save from death. I have had it since day one and she is still going strong. This is a great forum too, tons of people willing to help. I would recommend any froyo roms for stability, especially if your giving it to your mother.
