HD2 steps to disable/enable camera shutter sound - HD2 General

The camera shutter sound cannot be disabled easily for those using the HD2 from Telstra (AU). So I made a one byte change in the original cameraRC.dll (mod date 06/11/09 1136128 bytes) file to fix the "feature".
1. Initially, to disable the camera shutter sound copy the attached cameraRC.dll file to the \windows directory replacing the existing one (or just rename cameraRC.zzz to cameraRC.dll if you are disabling the sound again - see step 2). Note: a hard reset will cause this change to be lost.
2. To re-enable the shutter sound, simply rename the cameraRC.dll eg. to cameraRC.zzz. There is no need to do any soft resets, just restart the camera application and it will use the original dll from rom.
Let me know how it goes. If there is enough interest, I will give a step by step walkthrough on what I did (useful to fix other models or dll version).

Is there any chance you could patch the cameraRC.dll of the Telstra Touch Diamond 2 ROM too?
It would be really awesome if you could
thx
karlmueller

Huh? Have they removed that option in the camera settings on the T9193? I got shutter sound there and can chose "on/off", european HD2 thou. Weird.

I wonder whether vendor ROM's are different. Mine is vendor-free, and I have the option of turning the shutter sound off in camera settings...

Yes they are it seems that turning off the camera shutter sound isn't allowed in Australia and so that option isn't there in Telstra ROM.

Using chucky ROM with my T9193. Sound can be disabled fine. If this was on the stock Telstra ROM, then i can see the problem.

Yeah sure you can disable the shutter sound if you flash a cooked or even non Australian stock ROM.
But I flashed my European (originally Vodafone Germany branded) Touch Diamond 2 to the Telstra ROM cause it seems to be more stable and faster than a non-branded stock ROM I tried before.
The only thing is that you can't disable that shutter sound in that Telstra ROM and when I searched for Telstra and shutter sound on the forum I came across this thread.
I know that this is the Leo HD2 section but as it's basically the same problem I thought it's better to post it here than to open a new thread in the TD2 section.
So it would be really great if you could explain how to patch that .dll @kcchan48
thx
karlmueller

I cannot modify a ROM file so how do we do this?

If there is enough interest, I will give a step by step walkthrough on what I did (useful to fix other models or dll version).

SRS: Screen Rotation Service

Because I cannot see any post from "guru" ABC. from whom the original Screen Rotate Service Idea came from.
And for the sake of others who may want to try this on their XDA 2.
Im posting the files for download, this was the 10/29 update.
But if there are new post from ABC and the other gurus here with respect to SRS, id gladly edit this post and withdraw.
Thanks and Good Day.
edit:
1. SRS will display under your settings, if installed properly, it will run correctly, if not, it will ask you to reinstall.
2. For those who have trouble running their camera after installing the SRS, i suggest you upgrade your camera version to 2.5 from 2.01.
posted is the camera2.5 upgrade.
Are you running SRS on ROM 1.60 ? Does it work?
Thanx!
im running it on a very unstable 1.66WWE ROM and no problems so far. hehehe...
checking...oh, a theme...thanks..

Is this a new camera patch? JAM_Camera_Patch_V1.03.1.0.CAB

Hi gurus... I read in one of the forums that there is a new camera patch for the jam JAM_Camera_Patch_V1.03.1.0.CAB. I didn't see any talk about it here. Is it new?
yeah.. pls upload & post it here if u have....
Here it is. I have not tried it myself. Use at your own risk
ok thanks man..... i will backup all my things b4 i try...
Will update u guyz once tried....
hahaha...
I have installed it w/o problm.
Yes... no more white dot anymore... others, almost the same for me..
So, it works then
This is the same file offered by the official i-mate website. You should use this link instead:
http://www.clubimate.com/Support/JAM_Camera_Patch_V1.03.1.0.CAB
When was this patch released - and what camera versions would it be relevant for? For example, I have camera version 2.70, build 18177.
it works for me, very good! it updates the cmos control software nothing else, and it does a hell of a job
I have a german ROM. Do you think, that this .CAB would work for me, too? :?:
greets,
olaf
Just tried it. It does seem to make a difference in color, focusing speed and overall pic quality. White spots pretty much gone.
It also totally borked my today screen. Apparently it doesn't like the windows default theme, so changing to the alternate, "Bliss" theme, took care of that.
Definitely worth doing...
Just installed it and the picture quality in low light/incandescent is still total crap.
Holding my JAM next to my PDA2K there is just no comparison. While the JAM may have a higher resolution the amount of noise in the picture is just ridiculous. Whoever in quality control passed this should be shot.
Also my today screen was totally garbled after installing it. Had to switch to Bliss and then back again to cure it.
Russ.
My basic question is how do I know if I have an updated ROM or not. I bought my Imate Jam on the 12th of Jan. and my the information I have is Version 2.70 Build 17975.
Any help will be appreciated.
Is there any equivalent patch for the MDA Compact? I've tried installing this one but it doesn't update my build number :-(

This does not change the build number. It's the CMOS control driver update not the camera software upgrade.

on pocketgear there are:
MP3 ringtone patch for XdaIImini(T.Chi) 1.0
MP3 ringtone patch for XdaIImini (Eng) 1.0
Chinese and English, so it seems you need the correct one.
Other question: is possible to uninstall a patch?

Humm we're not talking about the same patch ... The discussion thread is about the camera patch (working for all version: XDA, Qtek, etc. if I'm not wrong).
You're talking about a patch for adding the context menu when you click on a MP3 file and you want to add it as a ringtone. The language is not specific, it is only to define the language of the sentence "set as ringtone".
I translated it to french (not too hard ) and sent it back to the author. You can remove this patch easily (add/remove programs).
how do i install the patch
could anyone tell me how do i install the patch.. i downloaded the patch which is a rar file and after extracting it, i am not able to install the patch

its already in CAB file...just transfer the cab file on to your magician and use the builtin file manager to tap and install it...
hoping that ampda would bump into this tread and make a tweak on this new camera app...

yes - me on my image it has this bug
Thanks so much, Camro !
Your uninstall cab worked. Videocalls are now accessible again
Shame and blame on HTC for this useless "Bugfix" !
Sticky this thread
Thank you Camro.
This also got rid of the problem for me too, which was caused by the slider "hot fix". For reference I'm using WWE 1.19.25581 from the official HTC Hong Kong site.
I suspect this thread/tool will become a lifesaver for many users!
THANKS!!
I ran it and it fixed the problem
Thanks! Worked
Thank you very much.
You will be quite popular I think
Shame on HTC.
This slide fix + the Painting problems on the HD are not acceptable.
So as Camro's ROM is German (and mine btw too), I was not absolutely sure whether I was inadvertantly shooting down the videocall feature, because this Hotfix might have been meant for WWE only.
Although it nowhere says so on HTC's homepage or in the instructions given.
But now as one friend here said he has a WWE firmware and experienced the same problem (and Camro's Anti-Hotfix could save him) we can be sure that this "official HTC Hotfix" has a serious bug !
I only wonder how things like this can happen to a big company like HTC !
Fix a minor bug (I did not really complain about the "slider", which was not working), while at the same time create a major other one.
(btw: Did anyone check, whether their hotfix at least really fixed the "slider problem" ? As I applied the Hotfix around midnight, when I did not receive incoming calls, I couldn't even check that.)
Ain't there no QC at all ?
While a few minutes ago HTC still had the Hotfix available at http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=179&act=sd&cat=all
(but no longer linked to the Support menu) it seems they have just now deleted it !
Apparently they now noticed their mistake.
So let's see what kind of "genuine final" Hotfix they will provide us now.
thank you very much!
that bug realy annoyed me.
but where are we now? the slider is still laggy (i installed your cab without removing the slider fix) or it is ok and you just made the cosmetic rearrangements?
Thanks for the fix. Was annoying to see it on screen. Now looking lovely again
Thanks camro,good work!

YES,
on uninstall - will delete the "new" ROM files and after that your system will copy the hidden (your original) ROM files from your basic image.
the related files are:
Windows\18c460d8_manila
Windows\HTCLTB.png
Windows\Incall_02_B.bmp
Windows\phcanhtc.dll
Windows\rilphone.dll
(BUT - only the cab-install/uninstall can delete the "new" ROM files

Strange...
Seems it's online again and available for d/l via this link - with the same timestamp and no additional comment.
So apparently the same faulty package.
I was almost about to think that HTC might read xda-developers.com and maybe adopt some advice from here. Seems I'm mistaken.

cab the slider will be laggy - as it was before install the HTC (buggy) fix.
if someone wants to play with only installing one of the fixed files ... - let me know.
for me - i haven't feel a laggy problem - i only tested the install to help some users whcih had problems with the HTC fix and unstalling the HTC fix without a hardreset.

EDIT: if somebody wants to play with single files from official (buggy) fix - here attached all flies from the install.

[APP] Incall Recorder for Diamond

I cant get this to work on my Diamond. Call Recording does not Work correctly. You can barely hear the caller voice.
Does this depend on witch Radio Rom the TD Use? I Tried with Stock Rom 2.03 and Radio v1.09.25.23 + v1.11.25.01
Some People reported that they got it to work on Toch Diamond and Pro.
*Edit*
Attached File just works for Englsh ROMS by request I can post the German version too
Credits for the German version and the Pictures goes to starbase64 from Handy.faq.de
thats amazing...thanx...i'm guessing these screenshots are from Touch HD?
ill try it n let u knw if it works on my
Rogers Canada 1.93 English Rom
Hi solidkundi
yes screenshots are from Touch HD.
Touch HD supports Real Incallrecording with Radio Rom 1.10.25.25. This Radio also enables Incall Recording for other apps such as Resco Audio Recorder. This is what makes me think that its an Radio issue on the Diamond. Maybe i have to Flash an Blackstone(HD) Radio to find out but first i have to security unlock my diamond for that.
Can somebody who already has an Blackstone Radio on his Diamond Test this?
Hi,
very good work...
What do you think about an Italian version?
BYE, Bobo
For other Language you have to rename some files. Go to this this thread and search for the Italian code.

I got it working on my personnal kitchen (both sound equally loud).
It doesn't come from the radio but from the drivers.
Hi tonio94
good to see that you got it to work!
Can you give more details about the drivers. I tried some other wavedev.dll versions with no luck (no sound).
It wold be a great help if you could post the drivers we need for Stock ROM.

As i updated every single part of my kitchen before getting it fixed (all OEM packages updated and XIP & SYS ported from 21028), I don't know exactly wich file is needed but I'm quite sure it comes from a file from OEM\OEMDrivers.
I tried to replace file by file while installed but it made my device crash so I'm not sure it's possible to update the needed files except by cooking theim.
Anyway, I could release my kitchen if people are interested and if I find a decent connection to upload.
Thanks for saving my Time! I thought it was a Radio Rom issue i was about to Flash a Blackstone Radio lol
which is the folder where i can find the conversation? I don't see the botton "menu"..
By default it should be \my documents\Recording
so does this record both side ?
As tonio9 already confirmed, This does record both sides!
But we need to find out which Drivers on Stock ROM we need to update.
missing red button in the corner
hi,
i've installed InCall on my Diamond and it works, but during recording there is a pink rectangle in the lef top corner instead of the red button

got this working on my diamond but i cant find where the recordings are saved.
Used Total Commander to search for all .wav and .amr files, and tried the recorder using both file types and recording in both locations (device/internal storage). I can play the files back using Incall Recorder, but I want to back up the recordings and listen to them elsewhere.
Any ideas?
sorry but this version is for the HD I do not find the two buttons below to manage the menu!!!!!!
helpppppp !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can start the recording when you press a button?
scusate ma questa versione è per l'HD io non trovo i due bottoni in basso per gestire il menu!!!!!!

è possibile far partire le registrazione alla pressione di un bottone?

Debranding from Orange UK

Hi what are the easiest ways to debrand my Touch HD from orange???
Can I do anything through registry settings?
Thanks...
Do you mean the boot screen (may say HTC innovation or similar) or a black loading screen?
In the Windows directory of your device, look for welcomehead.96.png. This is what is displayed as the OS is loaded, and to change it, simply replace the file with another 320 x 320 pixel png.
hI i found that and others ut is there not any other orange applications that will be in there that aren't needed? Or is flashing rom only option?

I think flashing to a custom ROM will be your best bet as this will unlock it allowing you to flash to any ROM of your choice depending on your needs. For information on how to do this, please see this link.
Also running a Orange Touch HD, reflashed and now happy !!
I'm running a very nice rom from Laurentius26. I've tried various ones, all created with a lot of hard work I'm sure and I wouldn't know where to start to create one.
The difference with this one I find is that instead of just changing alot of things on every release, this rom does actually appear to have been debugged and is a very stable release. The only problem I have found is that when you adjust the volume, sometimes it overlays the volume slider over the home screen when it should be just a black back ground. a quick power off and back on and all is sorted.
Anyway, reflash will get rid of the Orange add ons which IMHO don't do alot !
All the best Phil
