I don't know... I may be wrong here, but I thought that the Galaxy S phones came with a Samsung Market Place of there own as well. Am I wrong? I don't see it in my phone, and was wondering if any, or all of you are missing it as well?
Thanks.
You're referring to the Media Hub. Samsung has not launch this service yet.

Nope, I'm not talking about the Media Hub. I know about that one.
Here check this out http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-road-sms-for-galaxy-s-hands-on-video-20100715/
As you read you'll see where it says "Available exclusively through the Samsung Apps download store on the Galaxy S."
I just want that app, it looks sick! It would just freak some of my friends out.
http://www.samsungapps.com/
Not available for the U.S. market. It will launch alongside Media Hub.

In the forum over at hardwarezone.com.sg they have shown a couple of screens but also talk of problems in how to carry out a screen grab.
I thought Touchwiz could do this using the hardware buttons.
I have a note (got it from somewhere) that says:-
"While using the device, you can capture an image of a screen. While pressing and holding Back, press the Home key. The image will be saved in Gallery."
Thoughts please.
what i would like to know also is the screenshots i seen of the galaxy s and other youtube videos saying it has touchwiz 3.0
but looking at this samsung video the touchwiz 3.0 is different. or maybe it has to do with the wave ...
Id much prefer this interface ...

That's running the Bada OS which is found on the Wave
it's faster than Android and I would have bought the Wave if the 3g bands worked in the Americas but it doesn't offer support for 1900mhz yet, and the number of applications do not match that of Android (I need applications that are not found on Bada yet, can't assume they will also), aaaand since we can't put shortcuts to applications on the homepage :'( like on Android.
Touchwiz is the UI on it and on Android too, it is a bit different for the Wave since it's running Samsung's new OS, Bada OS. I prefer the TouchWiz 3 on the Android since we can use hardware buttons to go back or to open the menu instead of them being on the screen which take up space.
But they are very very similar since it's the nearly the same UI.
Just like this...

Doubt it. They might have to change the user manual if they do upgrade to the TW 3.0 and that takes time to publish.
However, Samsung/Sprint's user manual are not thorough. So they could purposely leave out these additional "features" and put them on an updated PDF file user manual on their website.

nope. it is 2.5. the app dock at the bottom cannot be changed. home screen cannot be moved or removed. music is similar to the stock android player which is very basic. no equalizer in the music player. it is definitely not 3.0. not sure y they did not add all those features. i dont understand why it costs $250 as the only extra thing is the keyboard, led flash and vga cam. rest all features are either similar or lesser than what is provided in captivate and vibrant which are available on amazon now for $49 and $0.01 respectively. $250 is simply ridiculous.

Also your forgetting the multicolor notification light, and once again AMAZON is selling those other phones for $49.99 and $.01. What do you think amazon will sell the EPIC 4G for? I guarantee you it won't be $250 unless the phone is consistently sold out. Wait til a month after the epic 4g has been out like how the vibrant and captivate have been and then see what it is going for on amazon. If I go to the carrier websites they still want $200 for the phones. You are being completely unfair in your comparisons.

The spec doc that was published yesterday has TW 2.5 listed in it.

I'm with you: I wouldn't expect TW 3.0 by launch. It is strange that they'd go with 2.5 though...

Supposedly it'll have the hardware for FM radio, but it doesn't sound like it'll be usable without a custom ROM or hacking

I would think it's a matter of both Sprint and Samsung deciding the specs. The reasons for axing it could come down to cost of development, bugs, etc., too.
IIRC, there was a case of a phone sharing some of the same hardware as the N1; the N1 had FM radio and the other did not. Modders found that they had the chipset for radio and were able to add it. Similar events have happened with phones that are wireless N capable but were not released with software that enabled it.
Either way, I'm pretty confident modders will get FM radio working on the Epic.
Is there any hope that the Media Hub will be ported to the EVO? That would be nice...
I have the media hub apk on my evo, but there is no movies in it if courses, I'm pretty sure Samsung servers have a way of telling that its not a Samsung phone. I wonder if someone knows how to modify the strings required when authenticating to make it work

I understand that logmein is coming, but where is weatherbug? Does anyone have the xoom version? I download it from the market and it is identical to the version that I have on my DX. Is it out yet? When is it coming? Etc.

Weatherbug for honeycomb is not out yet. Its still in beta stage and can't be downloaded.
Logmein for Android works fine for now.
I haven't had too many problems for most apps. Not ideal but they work for the moment.

Especially considering that Google implemented the "Fragments UI" idea in the latest SDK. From my understanding, this will allow the devs to make apps that work with both tablets and phones, where the UI will scale to different sizes for the different areas, instead of having 2 different apps.

Ok I'm gonna post a new thread devoted to this, I'm SURE someone on XDA must have found a leaked version of this beta apk, because not having it straight away is unacceptable . This is by FAR the app that I've been looking forward to with the Xoom. I'd gladly trade Flash for the next few months before the Weatherbug app! (hate me if you want, whatever)

Adding in the Fragments UI concept is only a few limited lines of code to allow scaling. Doesn't mean that the size of the apps will necessarily be any bigger. Don't forget, theres always Apps2SD
If having scalable UI means that the apps will be slightly bigger but completely functional, it's worth it.

Agreed, however this one is a different story, as it is an app that IS already in the Market, but some sort of glitch (either at the Weatherbug end or the Google end of things) isn't allowing it to be downloaded and installed. After all, as far as the Weatherbug site is concerned, this beta app *should* be fully available for download at this moment. At any rate I just sent an email in to the folks at Weatherbug as I'm quite sure they'd want to know about this so that they can communicate with Google to sort out the problem and make sure their app is fully available.
Are they available now that Zune is gone? Can't see them anywhere on my W8 PC so that makes me a bit worried. I should point out I'm in the UK so it could be a location based issue.

The current Windows Phone App for desktop is still listed as being in beta . . . my hope is that in the next week or so, it will be release in its final form, and will include support for podcasts . . . in the meantime, an app like slapdash will allow you to get podcasts directly on the phone, but they don't integrate into the hub

Seems like at the moment we have no integrated podcast support, a large omission by Microsoft imo. Until they have sorted something out I have just downloaded podcasts to see me over, seems to work fine.
Thanks guys, news aren't great then.
