Hey guys, just sold one of my TG01's and was thinking of what new phone to get. I've been thinking about the Leo, but im not 100% sure yet, how are you guys liking it or disliking it?
any other phones you guys suggest?

From my point of view it is the best WinMo phone out there. It does have its issues but they are more from a perspective of it could be done better and does not compare to other competing phones.
The iPhone is also a great phone but a different audience. I personally would/do get frustrated with a iPhone but would easily buy one for my wife.
In every aspect the HD2 tops every other phone and once you get it in your hands you will love it. My battery usage suxs as I can't help picking it up and playing with it. It spends more time being fondled than actually making calls
Video playback is a dream. Screen is great to use and its big but you don't even notice it in your pocket.

It's a spectacular handset a far as i'm concerned. Obviously some people have experienced bugs and so they'll have a different perspective, but so far my experience is overwhelmingly positive. I came from a kaiser, and the performance feels like a huge leap. Full desktop-page web browsing is astounding - but maybe those coming from more recent phones wont be so blown away. I just can't believe how quickly it renders desktop content, how smooth the scrolling is, and how readable it all is even at quite a low zoom level.
The handset really is a joy to use. In the past i've had issues with winmo forgetting wireless network keys etc. - no such misfortune here. It's storing 2 or three and switching between them as i move around the building with no hiccups at all. Battery life feels better with wireless on too, but i have not measured this empirically.
I would prefer more apps to auto rotate out of the box, but there are already posts around the net (probably here too although i haven't looked) about easily brining in this sort of tweak. That's the reason you get a phone with this sort of platform really - the flexibility it affords you. The experience is completely customisable, although that said, it's pretty damn fantastic straight out of the box
Leo is the best wm ppc out there right now! Of course all the good scoops are in the threads in the Leo section...

Certainly not topping every other phone in every aspect, as one person above suggests, but very good.
One line summary of the HD 2: A rough diamond waiting to be polished.
Either wait until Custom ROMS are avaliable or just get a DROID / Milestone
If you like WinMo, Leo's the best WinMo handset at teh moment. Probably you will have to figure out what you really expect from a handset.

I heard on two main issues:
1. Pink tint on the pictures (is it fixed yet)?
2. WinMo typical slow downs over time. Lags, etc, even on the Sense UI level. Is it true?
How does it compare to units like HTC Pro for instance in terms of smootheness and lags?
I have leo for two days and I can say att the device is lovely,is big but dont take any place when i put them in my jeans pocket,the touch screen is the best one ever,but is some annoyings bugs in them,wait for a uppdate of the rom for to by or try to fix,I wil tell you some of them in my device:
-audio manager crash after 45 sec to play a song with my memory card(sanddisk16gb)
-pink color in album with the camera pictures
-when you take a picture the music stop and you need to go to the player and start again to play the song
-bluetooth sound is like a AM radio and the volume can´t be controlled(SE HBH-IS800)
-dont play the almost video format
-maybe is coming something more in the way

1. Haven't made many pictures yet but I know I don't have to expect much from the HTC camera's unfortunately. Was the same on the HTC Touch Pro. It's really a shame they don't put better camera modules in their phones but ok... The pink tint IS an issue appearantly and doesn't seem to be fixed yet.
2. Haven't noticed any slowdowns like this... There is the occasional hickup
but they seem to be caused more by a certain application or part of the sense software then by windows mobile.
Compared to the HTC Touch Pro and Omnia Qwerty Pro (B7610) it's fast. I really notice a difference opening apps, going through files, going through settings, etc.
Browsing is a dream, much faster then on the HTC Touch Pro and B7610 as well. It seems my connection is better but also the cpu makes a difference. And then there's the huge screen, REALLY helps a lot.
Same goes for playing videos. Again the screen and cpu make it such a delight. Videos unable to play on the Touch Pro and B7610 play very smoothly on the HD2.
They onscreen keyboard was a problem for me in the beginning, I had a really hard time typing even one word correctly. Now with the firmware update this seems mostly fixed. I still miss keys every now and then (I don't use XT9 correction) but I find typing to be much easier now. Coming from phones with hardware keyboards this was one of the main issues for me, how would it be without a hardware keyboard, but again the screensize makes this very doable.
All in all I'm loving the phone so far...

About the audioplayer 45 second crash. No problems here, is this always the case for you? I use pocketplayer most of the time though, no problems listening to music 2hrs continuously (in the train).
I heard the audio player also stops/pauses/causes problems when the device goes into sleep mode. Something I had on my HTC pro (and believe samsung) as well. Pocketplayer solves this as well...
Have the SE HBH DS-980 bluetooth headset myself and no problems, heard other complaints about the sound quality (and some fix which I haven't tried yet) so perhaps my standards are very low. Pausing, volume, etc controls are working just fine though...
Also no problems with video (formats) playback, again might be due to pocketplayer because the default media player is kinda limited indeed.

I use core player and nitrogen,core player works well,also the volume control,nitrogen works but can not control the volume,,I tested with another bluetooth headsets and is the same, and audio manager is continuous crashing,I did hardreset 2 times,the audio quality I fixed whit this thread below,only use decimal:320 instead 256

Coming from a SEX1, I find this phone to be a huge sigh of relieve. I love it, it's fast. Reception is extremely good.
Camera might be better IMO, personally I don't experience the pink hue, but when taking pictures and watching them on pc I find they aren't good quality at all.Maybe fiddling around with settings would do the trick, but I'm illiterate when it comes to camera settings.
As I said, I love the phone. Pretty sure, you'll fall in love with it.

Compared to other WinMo phones I have ha I can tell you that the Leo is awesome. The screen is a real winner, yet the overall size is far more comfotable that the hermes or Kaiser that I had before. The sense interface features are stunning. I am extremely happy with my purchase and waiting for the chefs to start tweaking the ROM...
I've owned the TyTN I, TyTn II, SEX1, Palm Pro, etc and the Leo/HD2 is the best WM device by a large margin. One area people may not have mentioned is the great battery life - the best I have seen in a WM device, especially given the size of the screen and the CPU speed.

Cutom roms are ready for cooking but the HardSPL needs to be completed yet before they can be flashed to peoples phones and I havent heard much information on that yet.
HTC Herald > HTC TouchPro > Samsung Omnia > HTC HD2 <--- The best of all. Of course has issues as all phones, but its speed and responsiveness blacks them out.
whats faster guys, the HD2 or the TG01, anyone knows? i had the TG01 actually had 2, sold one, and using one for the time being, they are both TG01 and HD2 1ghz, but which one is faster (software wise i guess)
One of the biggests facts making me like the hd2 is the fact is has a capicative screen, so much more responsive, no more getting your stylus of using your fingernail to get things done. Just a very slight touch
This might be a hard forum to get an objective list of Pro's and Con's of the Epic 4G, but I am seriously thinking of getting this phone as it seems to be a beast. Any help is appreciated on what you think are the good poitns and maybe some cons with this phone as well. I am NOT in a 4G area yet, hopefuly by Feb they are estimating so that is not goign to be a benefit for me. I know the Transform came out for people not in the 4G area, but if i am going to get 4G soon then I would want a capable 4G phone. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advanced
Cons:
- The GPS is so bad (even with workarounds) that I can't rely on it. I use a garmin GPS when I need something reliable.
- The keyboard could be better....
- The slide mechanism is sloppy. The phone never feels solid when I hold it. I'm always nudging the screen over a little when I'm holding it. Pressing the power button slides it a little. I can wobble the screen when it's just sitting still. Build quality is low overall.
- Button 4 capacitive buttons are annoying at best.
- Phone has VERY little internal storage compared to some other phones out there. I fill it up so fast and always have to uninstall stuff.
- Battery drains very fast. My solution is just to keep a spare battery on me. They're pretty small and when I'm home, i can charge the spare in a separate wall charger. I never actually plug my phone in to charge it.
- No known date for Froyo... but Samsung has done a pretty okay job at fixing problems with the phone. Still no GPS fix... and that is pretty major.
- 3G download\upload speeds are slower than the EVO's (and other phones, I'm sure). Wifi range is also lower than some other phones I've used.
- Lacks the core developer support of some other phones like the EVO
Pros:
- Very sexy phone.
- It has a keyboard... which I almost require. I love having it as an option.
- The processor is the fastest out there so far (that I'm aware of). The GPU can also process 90 million triangles per second. The next best thing can process 41 million. UI is smoother than anything I've used thus far (I use Launcher Pro... so Touchwiz performance is irrelevant to me).
- The screen is gorgeous when you sit it side by side with any other phone
- The phone includes codecs for watching xvid, divx AVI movies, as well as 720\1080p MKV movies (if you can fit them on whatever SD card you have). This is one of my favorite features, as I watch a lot of movies on my phone
- Call quality (sound) is great
In spite of all the flaws, it's still my favorite phone EVER.
There are already a couple of threads like this, I suggest u read those, also engadget has a thorough review. Pc world named the epic #1 phone. I'm not in 4g area and still love this. My dad and sis have evos and those are nice phones too, but I personally prefer the epic bc of screen, keyboards (swype and hard keyboard), and built in support for many type of videos files so no converting needed like for evo.

Have you tried using a different usb port? if its a desktop maybe a back port..Cause people were definitely able to connect it to their Macs.
Pros: everything!!! My Slider mechanism work great. No wobbles feels secure,sexy look and screen, gps works great for me inside and out. MobileAP,BatteryMod all all pros. This phone is fantastic to me no issues so far and i have not needed to replace it once.

- my biggest by far is the build quality of the slider mechanism. Its so wobbly that i opted for a case, which fixes it but now the phone is huge.
- battery in general. From the wonky battery display to the fact that i can't get it to charge up to 100% (98 is the highest i ever got it). I can easily get a full day out of it so i don't mind the battery life too much.
- phone is rather large

- beautiful screen
- the physical keyboard
- the raw speed of the proc. Opening and closing apps is really fast. In fact everything is really fast.
- the GPU. I've stated before i'm really anal about scroll speed. Not sure if it's a GPU or CPU thing but i love how silky smooth the UI is (Launcher Pro, altho i did use touchwiz for awhile and that was real smooth too).
- //edit i almost forgot. The camera is great. (video and still)
I don't use GPS so i'm not sure how much of an issue that is. All in all i really like the phone, but if the build quality was just a bit sturdier i'd absolutely love it. The battery stuff i can live with altho i think it would be nice if i didn't have to do airplane toggle and DRM kill everytime i turned my phone off and on.
I guess I'm lucky I don't have anyof those problem and since I did the skyfire flash fix the phone seems to even faster and now flash works

I keep seeing people with GPS issues, except me. My GPS works fine, no issues here.
Con is definitely battery life on 3G (battery drain) which is odd because other Sprint 3G phones i've ever had never JUST drained battery while on 3G, and failure to mount on my Mac no matter what USB port i try. Have resorted to using Websharing via WiFi to transfer files over. Keyboard slider could be tighter and more solid.
Screen is very nice (even on lowest brightness), speaker and ear piece volume is very solid.
Camera and camcorder, very solid as well, best camera i've used on a mobile so far.
Video codec support out-the-box is great (but mvideoplayer is the best). 5.1 surround sound via headphones is great too.
It took me a little while to get the epic figured out.
However with the latest update + disabling DRM + airplane mode I am pretty darn happy with it!
My dad has an evo and I've traded phones with him for 3 days this week. My 30th day is today and I am not going to be bringing it back. While his screen is bigger.......holding them side by side....the epic just destroys the colors and the black level which is a MAJOR THING for me.

I have my phone plugged into my roomie's mac right now. I recognizes it as mass storage, and I can interact with the phone via adb. I don't know much about OSX, but all I needed to do on my pc was update the SDK to get the galaxy drivers. I don't know what my roomie did to get this working with the mac. I'll ask him when he gets home and we'll write up a guide or something.

Cons:
* Lots of little workarounds are needed to solve some common issues - hopefully future updates will fix all of these issues, but there is no guarantee.
* Keyboard has some layout quirks that I find annoying (smiley button instead of an "@" button, comma on the wrong side of the space bar, etc.)
* Super AMOLED screen is overkill and sucks juice like a mofo.
* I haven't been impacted by this yet, but yes the phone has less storage than others. I have about 30 apps installed and still have room for more so I don't know how much a phone really needs, but yes the Epic has less storage.
* People seem to have trouble hearing me on the speakerphone. I need to test this a bit to find out why.
* Not specific to the Epic, but I find claims of its camera quality to be greatly exaggerated. I have a digital SLR, a Canon pocket camera and my Epic... the Epic is nowhere near either of the other two in picture quality, and in fact is only marginally better than my Samsung SGH-A707 from like 6 years ago. The sensors on phones are just too small. I still have to carry around a real camera.
* The build is a bit plasticky, and judging from the experience of others, the QC is a little inconsistent.
* GPS can take a long time to lock. Once it's locked, though, it stays locked. It's not unusable like some people make it out to be.
Pros:
* It's fast.
* The screen is beautiful, even if it does suck juice. It's better than the iPhone's retina display, IMO. It's almost jarring how beautiful it is, and the fact that there's absolutely no contrast rolloff at extreme angles.
* The keyboard feels great, even if its layout is a bit wonky. Also, it has a real number row, which some other keyboard phones lack.
* My hinge mechanism, at least, is very tight, and it opens and closes with a satisfying "clunk".
* Front facing camera.
* Battery life - for me this is actually a pro! You need to tweak some things, but it's easily possible to get 48 hours out of the Epic battery. Other people have posted screenshots of that here, and I've done it too. It won't be that way out of the box, but that's just one of the things about this phone - you gotta learn some tricks to milk it.
* Call quality is really good, for me. Compared to my old HTC Fuze, it was like talking on a land line the first time I made a call on my Epic.
* I like TouchWiz. It's possible to use LauncherPro or even stock (once you install LauncherPro, you have the option to use the stock interface), but I found LP to be kind of buggy and stutter-prone, and I felt pretty lost with stock. TouchWiz is pretty unobtrusive except that it just organizes things a little better.
That's about all I can think of...
Cons:
1) poor GPS on all Epics
a) accuracy reporting bug
b) poor SNR meaning less likely to get lock than other Smartphones
c) AGPS cache bugs
2) worse battery life than Evo, without root or half a dozen user interventions to toggle airplane and remove drm
3) decent but not top of the line speaker phone and speaker
4) less than average reception (tested with two other sprint phones at fringe of reception in outer banks and with airave walkaway tests)
5) bulk
Pros:
1) Beautiful, if a bit over-saturated, screen
2) processor Speedy as heck
3) GPU
4) 4G speeds - 4G speeds -- SWEET 4G speeds
5) although I am using keyboard less than I expected, there is at least once a day when it would be a complete PITA not to have it.
I disagree with most of the claims of bad battery life. While the 3g browsing times are a bit disappointing, I contend that it was on par with what the EVO delivered (I had both phones). I have no problem getting through a full day on medium usage with my phone.
I agree with the reception issues. I also agree that the GPS isnt as accurate as other smart phones.
I dont have any problems connecting to my mac though. Not sure why others are...
I agree with all the pros here.
The only time I have ever had a problem with GPS was when it was piss pouring rain outside and it took ~1 minute to lock - otherwise it takes about 15 seconds or so to lock a set of birds. No great, but its definitely livable. The only other issue I run into is battery life - but thats not a complaint. I ask my phone to do everything but wipe my arse for me, and would if it wouldn't smell bad afterword.... I just keep a charge in my car and at home and work and charge it when it gets around 50%.
A couple of things that do irritate me are Music and Camera apps (native ones) won't open if the battery does get low...and damn it I want to take pictures every time I do let it get low...irony...
My slider is flawless and tight, sometimes to tight since I have some hand issues and can't work it with my right hand well. Swype is also pretty sweet when I remember I have it and I don't have to tap.
All in all, I loooove the phone and its the best thing I have ever purchased. Still glad I paid $600 for it. I can't even use my wife's hero any more its just way too small.
Never had an Android phone before but plenty of WM ons, (see sig) but feel time is right to jump OS. Desire and Galaxy S seem to be the best 2 around for uk users.
Looking at the specs nearly everything about this phone seems better than the Desire

Good camera (even without the flash it seems to take pretty impressive photos/videos)

Froyo update (officially yes, but when? Samsung past record doesn't inspire confidence)
Likelyhood of further Android OS updates (such as gingerbread)
Could people who have experience of both please comment on the general speed of the 2 devices. Is the Galaxy faster in real life doing most things,
especially web browsing (including flash video) and playing videos from MicroSD card.
I would be running these apps if I get an android phone:

Are there any apps/ anything else which isn't working on the Galaxy which runs o.k. on the Desire.

I have both the phones & a Dell Streak up until yesterday. All those apps you listed work fine on both devices except Slingplayer which I don't know about as I don't use it.
I'm having problems with the web brower of the Galaxy in that when I click on a link the web browser shuts down & returns to the home screen. Also I can change the UA string to set the browser to show desktop version but it won't stay. I've already exchanged one unit & the second one still does it.
I use a well known porn site (ahem, testing purposes only :wink) to test the flash & have to say the Galaxy plays the clips without a hitch (though not super smooth) but the Desire just plays the sound, no video.
On specs alone the Galaxy pisses all over the Desire but in actual use there's not much in it. For sure the Galaxy screen is better & the speaker is much louder & better sounding than the Desire but the Desire feels better quality & I prefer the physical buttons.
The Galaxy will be returned for refund tomorrow because my 7 days are up, but I would probably choose it over the Desire if not for the web browser issues.

Probably sensible to wait till Froyo is officially out on Desire and more info about when it will be on the Galaxy but it won't be easy.

Much better at graphics intensive tasks
Better sound quality, output volume
Better music player with EQ
DivX etc out of the box
TV Out (cable + DLNA)
WiFi tether
1.8GB of storage for app installation
More storage with inbuilt storage
Better screen - not only size and display characteristics but also touch and multitouch (most important for gaming, but not entirely irrelevant elsewhere)
Better loudspeaker
Better battery life
Desire pros:
General operation speed is better
GameBoid works
Widget selection is much, much, better
Hardware keys
Better build quality
Browser is better in terms of function, but the extra 0.3inches of the Galaxy negate that advantage for me
HTC music player works with LastFM, Galaxy's doesn't
Off the top of my head those would be the main things.
NZtechfreak, interesting you mention Desire is quicker generally. The difference in browser functionality? Don't they have the same browser?

Better screen, colors and most off all i can see it better in sunlight.
Ok, it had a small bit off lagg for me when i did open DialPad, but after i got a task killer no more lagg there. Other then that i have not notice lagg in apps/programs like some other have been notice.
Battery last longer on Galaxy then on desire, and that is importent for one like myself.
And like some say they like the build Quality on desire more, i cant say that is wrong But i quite like Galaxy even i guess some should say it is litle "plastic", feeling on it, it is damn light in the pocket.
And if we talk "Root" if both both device use custom roms and the the right chefs make them, Galaxy will be a monster with a custom rom made for it

I had the desire first, returned it and went with the SGS. Why?
-The screen is obviously better, bigger while not too big (in my opinion ofc) and properly registers multitouch (desire has problems when you cross axis with 2 fingers, not a problem in normal usage but very annoying when you try to play a game with 'joysticks' on screen).
Edit: The S-amoled also seems to solve some of the pentile problems I found using my desire, like pink colours where gray shoud be.
-Camera quality is slightly better, however the lack of flash sucks, I enjoyed using the flash as a flashlight.
-The media player is just amazing. Goodbye converters, hello divx playback . Seriously though, it allows me to save 10's of GB on my desktop's harddrive, space I had to use to store those converted files before.
-Audio quality is top-notch, way better than the desire. It also simulates 5.1 playback and plays very HQ music (my flac library sounds better than ever).
-The GPU. You can actually play a game like asphalt on this, while on the Desire the game hangs constantly.
-Storage (this is only for android 2.1 ofc, but this might still be very important during the next couple of months). If you want to keep a few good games on the Desire at the same time, you will need to root/a2sd. Otherwise you WILL run out of storage. On the SGS, you have more than 10 times the app space.
Now with that said, the Desire has it's perks as well, like the sense ui (it's a lot more elegant than touchwiz), tweaked browser with flash Lite and the overall better experience (I feel the Galaxy S has a tendency to slow down over time, while I didn't have this experience on the Desire, might be that I play more games on the SGS tho).
However, I do feel samsung is putting a lot of effort in this phone and I really believe that we're gonna see some good firmware tweaks very soon. The fact that they are offering some quality apps with the phone, like the tweaked layar version, and the "samsung app store" which offers free stuff like the full asphalt game (which costs 5€ in the gameloft store).
Assuming that the Galaxy S is released on T-Mobile UK, this is going to have to be a decision I make as well. I was going to go for the Desire, but since hearing about the Galaxy S I've all but decided to go for that instead. Just a pity the build quality isn't so good, it has a PenTile screen and it doesn't have a flash (though that's a minor complaint) - pity that there isn't a high-end Android phone available without any real drawbacks!
A bit puzzling that it would seem slower than the Desire when the hardware should be as good or better - that must be software, and software's fixable, hopefully.
TMobile UK seem to have confirmed that its coming next month
I'm currently using HTC Hero, but thinking of getting the SGS.
The GUI is a big turn off for me. But like on the Hero, i'm using Launcherpro from the Market. And i'm hoping this would also work on this phone.
Have anyone testet if it works on SGS?

Running launcherpro here on the SGS, works fine. You can still use the samsung notification bar functions like enabling wifi/bluetooth and setting ringer volume and brightness while using it. Combined with the fancy widget, it looks very nice.

The Desire and Galaxy S have the same amount of RAM, though I believe, not 100%, that the Galaxy S kernel is lacking High Mem support, which if it's anything like the Nexus prior to gaining the support, means it only has access to around 190MB of RAM. The HTC kernel has High Mem support iirc, which bumps accessable ram to 390MB or so.
The fact that the Galaxy S comes out of the box with flac support and wifi tether negates my major reasons for really needing root...but having root and switching between roms more times than I shower is all part of the fun!

I own both phones and the conclusion is ready. Galaxy I9000 is much better than nexus or desire. Very fast, sped, screen, games, internal storage, sound.. Is my point of view as developer for android
Flash question
I am slightly confused about the flash support for the 2 phones. If you read GSM arena review, they say Galaxy S doesn't have any, other than the youtube videos through a dedicated youtube player. HTC's own website says the Desire comes with flash support. They are both running Android 2.1.
What exactly does the stock Desire have in terms of flash, some version of flash lite? If so can't the Galaxy S be upgraded to the same level through installing an application?

Currently running an iPhone 3GS . Was tempted(briefly) by the iPhone 4 , but not enough of an upgrade as far as Im concerned.
I must admit to loving my 3GS.OK the UI may be boring,but it does what its meant to do good enough.
Had never read anything about the Galaxy s until last night.I didnt even know Samsung made an Android phone!It does look really nice though.The screen looks great.
I have owned Samsung phones in the past, few years back now.And was always disappointed with volume.Is the Galaxy loud?If I leave the phone in my coat pocket downstairs am I going to struggle to hear it ring?(Not talking miles away here).
Also, the 3GS does feel like a quality bit of kit in the hand.Looks as good now as it did when I bought it 12 months ago.The build quality of the Samsung worries me slightly(from what I have read about it)

I always thought this was something comparable to 64bit OSes, you just can't go above a certain amount (around 3.5gb, but for android 256mb) since the os doesnt support it. I guess it's a bit different with linux, but the comparison remains the same.
There was a line in the 2.2 features description on developer.android.com before, saying "HIMEM support, enabling access to more than 256mb of ram on devices", but I can't seem to be able to find it now.

Desire has Flash lite 4, it's good enough to see some movies and some content like banners, but things like games and high quality/bandwidth movies are very sluggish.
Dunno if it can be ported that easily to the SGS, I think the browser needs to support it aswell, but not sure there.
camera photos comparison
can anyone post a photo(s) taken by these handsets (same object if possible)? will be upgrading tomorrow, and i feel these 2 handsets are pretty even for what i am after, the camera (photo & video) will be the deciding factor.... can anyone post pleeaaasssssseee??? i have less than 24 hours to decide!

I have a Wave since few monthes now and I'm quite happy with it.
The screen is just the best phone screen I ever had and even my Iphone user friends likes my Wave.
I'm not a hardcore user but I can do what I have to do with a smartphone:
Pros:
Good internet browser (I, personaly, like Dolphin very much).
I can check my emails quickly
The camera is really good for a phone
There are many free apps, I mean enough for me (some fun ones, some good 3d games)
And the phone has a clear sound and the interface is convenient.
The use of social networks is also nice.
The sound is also superb (I listen to some .wav files with a good Sennheiser HD25 headphone and it's really clear, without background electric or electronical noises)
Cons:
I'd like to have the firmware somewhat hacked to install some emulators on it
Fast typing fast is difficult when the phone is vertical (not bad but not perfect), once you flip the phone horizontally it's really OK.
Sometimes the interface is a bit laggy, but all the phones I had before were really worst than my Wave.

It's easy, pleasant and fast to use.
Samsung Apps lacks a lot of apps were iOS and Android are much better.
The audio call volume and quality is good enough, but not at the level of a Nokia N82 for example. The reception is better than N82. (N82 was my previous phone)
The photo aren't so good: it's easy to get a blurred photo if the light isn't perfect.
The web browser is UNUSABLE: it's good but the Wave has a big problems that remember my old HTC Diamond: it get always out of memory!!!
If you are on xda I think you need something you can "play with" so if it'so the Wave isn't a good device now. Maybe in the next future. (I'm waiting since june 2010 for this )
IMHO it's a sour device. I regret my old Nokia N82.
Pros:
- great display (SAmoled)
- good cam (use it for HD-video recording), pictures are acceptable but not perfect
- good speaker
- bada is easy to use and quite good for such a "young" OS
Cons:
- Samsung Apps is not very fast to use
- Internet browser Dolphin 2.2 -> adress bar apears when you touch the screen or when you scroll
- few apps
- some errors: not "enough memory available" or "page is too big" -> that sucks
All in all I'm happy with my first Samsung smartphone and I would buy it again.

I got this wave 8500 secondhand becaue si dont believe in paying laptop prices for smartphones.
What I liked:
1) Great AMOLED Screen
Colors are crisp, Blacks are blacks, Videos Look great
Even Iphone 4 users take a second look at the screen
because the colors just jump out and the viewing angles
are so good. Just wish it was 3.5 not 3.3 inches
2) Great Camera Better as a VidCam
The still camera is good but the 720P Video Cam function
is outstanding. Ive already abandoned my digicam
coz of this, since the wave 8500 is easier to pocket.
3) Aluminum Body
4) Really Loud especially when i tweaked the hidden audio settings.
5) Excellent Audio Quality
6) 720P MKV playback without need for third party apps.
When I played Glee episodes on it People at this party were
really distracted by the smooth and vividly colorful playback.
7) Almost Forgot the LED Flash doubles as a torch
(needed a free 3rd party app)
Dislikes:
1) As a phone im wondering why it has 550mb dedicated for
message storage yet it only allows 1300 text messages maximum.
In the tech support world i get thousands of texts in a month
so 1300 text message limit is also very limiting on what i can
do on the phone and for my purposes.
2) As a smartphone im wondering why it limits itself to only
10 pages of apps maximum. Why?

A- Bada 2.0 has TWlauncher 4.0 which gives you unlimited pages for apps...unless you store them on teh External_SD Card...

Wave 3 specs are very good and I think sammy wants to keep the price competitive against others and try to spread BADA as much as possible..

I would like to have SEGA and NINTENDO emulator to be able to play the games I miss...Everyone has a child inside you know... may be the ability to connect a game pad will be nice...It will sell a lot..
I can only speak about my wave model, the S8500.
For me, the biggest pros are:
- great display: superamoled... cant get any better than this (great black level/brightness/colors) and the touch is very responsive (feels smooth, no lag)
- great sound quality (couple this with the ability to play flac files and use big capacity SD cards, and you get an almost unrivaled music player)
trust me on this, with a good pair of earphones, it sounds VERY good
- great battery efficience: with moderate use i can easily get it to last 4 days until i have to recharge
- good body quality: all metal and glass, looks and feels very sturdy, altough being liteweight
- the T9 trace keyboard is just awesome: i've never typed so fast in my life
now im used to it, typing in oldschool keyboards feels like returning to the stone age for me
- the user interface in bada is very intuitive and well organized/laid out, especially in the phone/contacts functions
- the camera flash is VERY powerful (i use it as lantern sometimes)
- the phone/screen size is just perfect for me: not too small and not too big; fits comfortably in any pocket (for me the iphone 4 already feels too big)
- HD player with subtitles (sweet )
- quality for the price: i only payed 200 Eur for mine (new and unlocked); unbeatable deal for such hardware
What isn't bad but could be better:
- internet browsing experience (im pretty sure this will be fixed in future firmwares or with new browsers)
- some bugs in apps that sometimes make the system go berserk and need a restart (this happens rarely though)
- sometimes the phone back gets a little too hot (when running games especially)
The cons:
- the GPS experience: mine never worked decently (too long boot times especially)
- the bada appstore: i know its still growing but when compared to android or ios....
- the KIES PC software: what a rubbish tool ! always buggy, doesnt have proper backup functionality (i want the ability to backup EVERYTHING in my phone, including tasks... cant do that..at least in my version), and other annoyances
Would i buy it again? For 200 Eur ... Hell yeah!
If you like games go to android, if you are happy with a full feature sized os than bada is your only sollution.
if you dont want install a packet data counter as an app as example

i even think the gaming department is where we can find more good apps in badastore
and i dont even mean the big and spectacular graphics games (like some first person shooters and some racing games)
im always playing amazing "simple" games like '"cut'em all" and "mr.dork"
and now ScummVM is almost ready to be released in bada.. when that comes up.. ppl will have loads of great adventure games to play in wave phones
IMO business and navigation department are still the poorer in the badastore

I really wanted to like the Motorola Razr I. It was my first new phone after having a Samsung Galaxy S (very first one) and at the beginning I was really excited. The body felt nice and better than my old Galaxy S. Having Jelly Bean on my Galaxy S, The software on the Razr I felt like a step back. I didn't mind having Ice Cream Sandwich, because Jelly Bean was already promised for our phone, but for a reason I didn't have that nice feeling of having a new phone.
The problems I had:
- Not all apps are compatible with the Razr I, some apps I bought (like Rebuild, or Triple Town) were not working at all!
- Lags and music stuttering
- Volume too low
- GPS coordinates were all over the place, in Navigon it would constandly point me on the wrong street (this was actually the nail in the coffin)
So after all those problems occured, I found a nice deal on a Galaxy S 3 and gave my Razr I back and never looked back. Everything from the above list works and as a plus I have a bigger screen and Jelly Bean. Plus the community seems to be bigger.
So for me, Intel cpus are not ready for prime time yet.
RAZRi is not a phone for just... having a phone, is a phone for fiddling out, I knew very well that there where some incompatibilities, but to be honest all of my programs work so far except for 2 games and 1 emulator: Chaos Rings from Square Enix and the n64 emu. I have no stuttering in music (poweramp and folderplayer) nor any lag in the system. I have the swap internal memory for sdcard applied and I don't have to worry about space, the volume is to high for me (coming from a G1) and navigation is ok for me (RMAPS) so... the problems that you describe are quite weird.
(Please note, I bought this phone used, it was a demo phone on a store, not even with that has a flaw except for the program compatibility)
I don't have any issues with the phone.
All the apps i need to have all work with my razr i apart from flash (i dont need), bbc media player, n64 emulator and barclays app. I haven't really come across any compatibility issues.
Yeah the music stutters but it not bad my htc did that too and btw thats just a bug with the play music app. playerpro is a great alternative.
The volume is not at all low
GPS for me is amazing although the accuracy never really gets below 30 feets and the compass could be a little faster.
I love the stock android look on it even without jellybean I get bored of my one x for this and that has a bigger screen, not intel, and has jelly bean.
I don't have the problems you have, but i don't like my razr i as much as i thought, too.
Got it after my Desire HD had a partly-scattered screen, shut down time and time again when WIFI was activated, sensors were not working anymore etc.
I bought the razr i to be reliable. The stock launcher froze the widgets up to 3 times a day, had to restart it every time. Changed to Nova Launcher Prime again. Now i miss the "real" quick settings to pull down (they are apps for that, but many switches are only links (e.g. GPS). My AUX Port has a loose contact, too. When i walk, often the music stops because the razr i thinks, there are no headphones connected anymore.
A few days ago, i took out my old Desire HD. Even though it was big and can't be used single-handed, i think of buying an used HTC HD2, as i miss messing around with roms and always wanted to try out Windows Phone 7. I think i will only use it as backup device, but maybe i would sell the razr i and use the HD2 as everyday device for a few months, until i find another phone that suits me.
Anyway, wouldn't buy an S3 because i neither like the look nor quality of it.
Too bad. I don't know why you had problems with Navigon. I recently used the same software to navigate from UK to Poland and back and it worked perfectly. It even got me out of trouble when by mistake i took the wrong turn in Belgium and put me back on the right track in no time.
I love my RAZRi.
Best phone I've ever had in my view. I haven't had any of these issues mentioned at all. The navigation is fantastic and due to the RAZRi battery performance I have now sold my old SatNav unit and use the RAZRi all the time.

I'm coming from a Droid 3 and of course miss the great keyboard. But I REALLY LOVE the Razr i! Perfect size, perfect build quality (no plastic crap!), volume is perfect, perfect signal and awesome battery life!
I am in contact with the developer of epsxe the Playstation Emulator and I am currently testing an x86 build of it, it's running absolutely great, with no framelimiter i get 150-200 fps! I love this phone, really.
Also yesterday while celebrating the new year I was absolutely happy with the camera performance, shooting several photos with flash in a few seconds is absolutely great!

If u told us u bought an iphone for stability, eco system and/or style i wouldv said have fun with it its a great phone but i cant call that big piece of junk samsung built this time a great phone, its just big.
The apps u name arent apps but games, again: why didnt u buy a nexus7 which is an outstanding device to play with.
I cant speak for navigon but i used copilot 2weaks earlier without any problems.

Obviously, there are a few phones with good cameras but it's really sparse (my last one had a good camera, HP Pre 3; limited shooting options but the quality impressed quite a lot of people, took some stunning shots with it) and I don't really care about it either because I have my DSLR for that.
I do use the camera on the Razr i for shooting a picture here and there when I don't have my DSLR with me or just to share something I saw on Twitter (which my DSLR can't; I have no Galaxy Camera lol). And for that it does the job. Not amazing pictures but good enough.

The reason why I didnt buy a Nexus 7 is obvious. I wanted a phone and not a tablet. The Nexus 4 on the other side would have been a good phone, if it wasn't for the small internal storage.
Anyway, regarding the stuttering. I wasn't using the Google Music App. I am using PowerAMP which was doing a fine job on the Galaxy S and again on the Galaxy S3. So it must be Razr Is fault. I also don't know why my GPS was so bad on the Razr I. If i didn't have those 2 problems, I might have kept the phone because I really wanted to like it. But those 2 problems plus the compatibility issue were deal breakers for me.
I must say, the Razr I has amazing battery life but I am also happy with the battery life of my Galaxy S3. If worse comes to worst, I could still swap the battery for a fully charged one, which is not possible with the Razr I
Anyway, I hope you guys will stay happy with your Razr I as I am happy with my S3
Just to give my opinion, after two weeks of testing.
Also note that my previous phone was an HTC Desire HD, which I miss a lot but ... the RAZR i is way better and has those advantages:
- it is fast, rom is very responsive, there is just a minor lag when opening the toggle screen for the first time (after reboot)
- battery is very good (more than 1 day with a moderate use, at least 8 hours with a lot of gaming/streaming/videos/camero with flash/web etc.)
- the size is perfect for me, SIII and similar phone are too big for me
- build quality is just awesome! sorry but many of my friends own an SIII, and the plastic quality is simply crap!
- the Moto's ROM is nearly a pure android one
- I didn't have any problem with an application (compatibility is ok, just a few app does not work: SongPop Free for example)
- the camera button is very handy
- the camera quality is ok and relatively fast (don't forget that's a phone...)
- gaming is ok (I'm not a hardcore gamer on phones )
- GPS fix is extremely fast and accurate compared to my DHD. I can even get a fix inside buildings, but accuracy is not good then, which is normal. Outside, GPS fix is done within 3-5 seconds.
- the phone speaker is good and loud enough (for a phone)
- the GSM reception is very good and stable
- the audio quality during calls is very clear
I use Poweramp without any problem, I'm an audiophile and I can tell that the audio quality is very good. But don't use the bundled earphones... very bad quality! I never noticed stuttering, neither wither Poweramp nor with Google play, and I really listen to music all the time.
Toggles from the notification are not an Android standard. HTC Sense, TouchWiz and Cyanogenmod add those buttons ! So please, don't say you miss them!
However, it's true that I miss the toggles too, and I don't like the way the Moto launcher works. To change this: Widgetsoid for notification and more widgets, and Apex/Nova for the launcher.
The big default of this phone is the lack of the usb mass storage. I'm a Linux user and the MTP protocol does not work well and is very complicated to easy integrate with your desktop. But I also use Windows 7, and absolutely no problem with this. (update: this issue may be resolved by using the PTP mode instead, I still need testing)
Now I'm waiting for the JB update and hope that the dev will follow with some amazing ROMs (update: update is coming!! )
To conclude, to me, according to the price and the build quality, this is probably the best mid-range phone (nearly high-end) of the moment.
I probably would have bought a Nexus 4 if it was not out of stock, but I really don't regret my purchase at all, this phone is awesome!
Update: I just had a freeze yesterday, neither buttons nor screen were responding. I had to 'hard reboot' by pressing both power and volume down for a few seconds to reset the phone. This is the issue I had since I bought it on the 28th of December.

In one hand I expected more from this phone, in terms of software ICS 4.04 now a days is a old OS, Motorola is not taking care of the phone and this bad joke of the SD card is juts to.... ask then why you **** like this ICS.
In other hand the phone is build with very good materials better materials than the Nexus 4,is fast as the faster phone in the market performing the common task of every day is handy and has a very good camera if you know how to take pictures, not forgeting that is a phone.
So I'm happy with the phone I've tested for weeks phones like Nexus Prime, htc one x+, lumia 900 and iPhone 5 and any of them make me think that I should change my razr i, all of them have bad things and good things but in my opinion there is no a phone which could impress me in a way that the iPhone 2G did to me.

I personally find that the RAZR i perfectly fits my needs, but it is not the perfect phone
And yes, I forgot this: the way the sdcard is mounted totally sucks !
About the update, a JB leak for a the old RAZR can be found. So, I guess that a much more recent device like the RAZR i will soon receive JB.

Also note that my previsous phone was an HTC Desire HD, which I miss a lot but ... the RAZR i is way better and has those advantages:
- it is fast, rom is very responsive, there is just a minor lag when opening the toggle screen for the first time (after reboot)
- battery is very good
- the size is perfect for me, SIII and similar phone are too big for me
- build quality is just awesome ! sorry but many of my friends own an SIII, and the plastic quality is simply crap !
- the Moto's ROM is nearly a pure android one
- I didn't have any problem with an application (compatibility is ok)
- the camera button is very handy
- the camera is ok and relatively fast
- gaming is ok (I'm not a hardcore gamer on phones )
- GPS fix is extremely fast and accurate compared to my DHD. I can even get a fix inside buildings, but accuracy is not good then, which is normal. Outside, GPS fix is done within 3-5 seconds.
- the phone speaker is good (for a phone)
- the GSM reception is very good and stable
- the audio quality during calls is very clear
I use Poweramp without any problem, I'm an audiophile and I can tell that the audio quality is very good. But don't use the bundled earphones... totally cheap ! I never noticed stuttering, neither wither Poweramp nor with Google play, and I really listen to music all the time.
Toggles from the notification are not an Android standard. HTC Sense, TouchWiz and Cyanogenmod add those buttons ! So please, don't say you miss them !
However, it's true that I miss the toggles too, and I don't like the way the Moto launcher works. To change this: Widgetsoid for notification and more widgets, and NovaLauncher for the launcher.
The big default of this phone is the lack of the usb mass storage. I'm a Linux user and the MTP protocol does not work well and is very complicated to easy integrate with your desktop. But I also use Windows 7, and absolutely no problem with this.
Now I'm waiting for the JB update and hope that the dev will follow with some amazing ROMs
To conclude, to me, according to the price and the build quality, this is probably the best mid-range phone (nearly high-end) of the moment.
I probably would have bought a Nexus 4 if it was not out of stock, but I don't regret my purchase at all.

I had that MTP problem with Honeycomb but since ICS I don't got that problem. And I'm an Ubuntu user so also Linux. Razr i mounts fine via mass storage on Ubuntu 12.04

I'm using Archlinux, totally up to date, I may have missed something...
Do you have the mass storage option on your RAZR i? That would be weird...
What library do you use? because the most common one, libmtp, has an opened issue for this device. The RAZR i is not yet marked as "known".
