Provider: Orange
Country: UK
I entered my serial on the HTC site and could not download the rom update. Therefore I downloaded using another UK serial obtained from this site.
When installing the rom update, i get the following error
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
I have just looked on my phone and it shows the rom version to be 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE. This looks to me like a Danish one. God know why I would have a Danish rom but just wondering if anyone can help me make an upgrade bearing in mind I know absolutely zero Danish?
surely you should be able to do it by changing the spl?
I haven't got my HTC touch yet but its in the wiki on how to change it....
Thanks! I will have a look at changing the SPL when I get a chance later today. I spoke with HTC and they do not support my phone because it has been 'branded' by Orange. There's very little chance Orange will provide upgraded roms anytime in the next zillion years.
Anyone in a position to compare the new upgraded rom vs dutty's rom ? If Dutty one is still far superior, then I might as well just install that. My HTC HD is still a virgin when it comes to Roms
Hi , I need help to understand why I cant upgrade my diamond 2 to WM 6.5
Here is my current version ( I got my phone in Hong Kong )
rom 1.40.707.2(49069)wwe
rom date 06.15.09
radio 3.44.25.27
protocol 61.25t.25.19u
I tried to download a rom update from here :
http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=728&news_id=310
but I got a message that there is no upgrade available for my serial number.
Than I took a number (ht968l100038) from stock , from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=568330
I downloaded an update , it started to run but then I got a message :
Error 294 - invalid vendor ID
So my question is :
1. Why there is no update available from official HTC site ?
2. How in any case I can upgrade it ? what's wrong with my vendor ID ?
Thanks ! ! !
Hope some one could help me !
If you read previous posts about that message, someone said it was because the 6.5 upgrade is not for your region. Hong kong in europe?
You have to wait for the upgrade to be available for hong kong/asia.
Hong Kong belongs to asia.actually I live in another country, but got my phone in h.kong.
but version of my rom is an english one,is there some workaround to install it anyway?
win 6.5
htc has now actually realesed the official update
when i tried to upgrade mine from the htcpedia one it bricked my phone, i mananaged to recover it and install stock 6.1 onto it so hopefully now that im going from a stock 6.1 rom rather than a custom 6.5 it should work lol

I have the same problem as you, and as I can see you have same original ROM, I tried also from another region with same problem ERROR [294].
You may also have S/N HT98LL as I, now I know it's from hongkong (I'm and bought my phone in Paraguay )
Is there anyway to install european ROM? breake the zone from my phone to install official ROM from somewhere else?

Hi,
This has managed to brick mine as well - how did you recover?
It only goes to the touch diamon 2 loading screen and then freezes.
Please help

Mine S/N is "ht97xl......." .
Some one have an idea what to do ?
When HTC will release an update for this vendor ?
Figured it out:
They have only released European versions of the upgrade which does not work with those of us that have asian ones. The HTC huys don't have a release date for the Asian English Winmo 6.5 ROM release.
Not impressed really.
Hard spl and you can install whatever rom u want....

I sent an inquiry to HTC and what that they said :
Thank you for contacting HTC Corporation,
Dear HTC Customer
With regards to your inquiry, the WM6.5 upgrade for the HTC Touch Diamond2 is not available yet and should be available within the coming month. Kindly contact us later for more information regarding your WM6.5 upgrade inquiry.
so lets wait .... I don't want to break my phone with unofficial ROMs and loose my warranty. Cant they that their ROM will be perfect, but anyway ...
Today i have decided to upgrade my german device to the 6.5 stock rom (I selected german region). I've put in my serial number, selected the file and the location. And now, I thought I could download the official 6.5 rom. But the download link led me to this site: http://www.htc.com/www/support.aspx where i could not download any rom. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Branded TD2's got other serials, so you can only dl ROMs released by your vendor. Also you won't be able to flash the ROM if phone is not unlocked (you need hardspl 1.83).
@S-Line
I've bought my phone unbranded and unlocked, it is not a phone from my provider. The serial i've put in to the field for download ist valid, otherwise i wouldn't get so far to the select the rom file and the the region.
I wrote to the HTC support and they answered: "Wir moechten Sie bitten, den Download zu einem spaeteren Zeitpunkt noch einmal zu versuchen. "
But maybe its better to leave a running system at it is. I've read the thread "Issues with the official 6.5 build" and it does not fills me with confidence in 6.5. Maybe i should try a cooked rom. Will see.
The official HTC Rom is ok, but I really can recommend udK's Leo R6 (German version) or Dutty's Holy Grail R1 (a bit faster but WWE). Both are better than stock ROM.
Today I have flashed my TD2 with your recommended udK Leo R6 and I'm surprised, I have much more space left after the installation. Original, as I bought my device, there were only 180 mb free data space, with this cooked rom I have far over 200 mb left after flashing. Until now, after some hours of playing around i like it, it feels faster. And I'm very happy, that my first attempt of hardspl and rom flashing was successful.

Have you tried contacting their support.
My ROM is "Eastern Europe" (Bought in UK!) and they told me to go to
http://www.sunnysoft.com/htc/
Sure enough, a valid ROM was available for download Apparently they won't to hosting all the ROM's to the HTC site!
ROM
Topaz_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_2.16.479.1
Windows Mobile 6.5
No need to unlock phone.
Maybe they can help you the same.
hi just got my hd2 a few days ago the software info is:
os 5.2.21845
manila 2.5.19202525
rom 1.43.110.2
radio 2.04.50.22)22)
protocol 15.26.50.07u
are there any updates i need to apply?
thanks
mark
well go to the HTC website... you'll be in for a surprise!!
i see theres an update to down, load but the serial number i have has lots of IO or is that 10's in it
also if i do the rom upgrade will i still need to install all the other updates or is this a fix-all?
Ive entered loads of combinations all seem to be invalid except one which states
Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
???
It sounds like you got your phone from O2, Vodafone or T-Mobile rather than a 3rd party like Phones4U. This means that you can't just download and apply HTC updates.
Fear not - go to the Leo ROM development section on this forum, put HSPL on your phone and then load the latest ROM update from HTC (v1.66). This includes all the latest updates.
Use this UK serial number to download the ROM upgrade:
HT9AZNW00968
wow thanks for that...
only 2 days in and im flashing a rom... how l33t of me lolz.

hi.. i wanted to update to the rom version 1.66 WWE from the official htc europe site.. when i enter my serial number, it says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
can someone please tell me why is this so?
Probably because you don't have a stock HTC phone, but an operator customized one. You'll have to install HardSPL before you can flash any ROM on your HD2 (HTC official, or cooked)
Today I discovered, that the Vodafone RUU can't be applied to my Leo, which I bought though Vodafone. WTH?
(No logos, signs, but added Vodafone keyboard)
ERROR 294 - INVALID VENDER ID
Btw, I can download stock HTC ROMs, but only on Czech HTC website (Czech 1.48 ONLY - DO NOT WANT, ALREADY HAVE) , so I pressume, that my Vodafone HD2 is not Vodafone HD2
EPIC WIN
...
Btw, I want the 1.72 ROM, do I need HSPL?

Which country did you buy your Vodafone HD2 from?
Morning, if you didn't buy you HD2 direct from Vodafone (store or vodafone.co.uk) then you will not be able to flash their 1.72 ROM.
For example you could have purchased a Generic HD2 with a Vodafone contract from a reseller.
edit: HSPL should allow you to flash any rom, so yes that could work.
Also, if you can download updates from HTC directly then you're not using aVF HD2 so that ROM update isn't for you...

If you want the 1.72 ROM, I'd suggest installing HSPL and flashing a custom ROM and radio from XDA Dev. There is no reason for flashing an official ROM over a custom ROM, custom ROMs are far better and faster.
