Hi all, it is pull from a clean Froyo FRF91 ROM.
There are two way to put them into your Sense Desire (as DJ Droid).
Method 1: (via ADB)
1.remount the system
Code:
adb remount
2.upzip and push APK into system/app
Code:
adb push LatinImeGoogle.apk /system/app
3.upzip and push those *.so file into system/lib
Code:
adb push ****.so /system/lib
(**** is the file you just unziped in "lib" folder)
4. Enjoy~

There should be an option let you choose the voice input method, you must choose one of them to activate it. ^^
Flashed yesterday. Don't have that option :/ (Running Devillain)
Anyone tested this with defrost 2.1?
Looks great! Considering that I somehow lost Voice Search in Navigator, etc. after updating to a rooted, stock HTC Eclair ROM. So my Q is, should this be able to work in Android 2.1?

application not installing?
Hi, when I am installing stock.apk and the widget it goes to the installer and just cancels on me I tried this multiple times and things aren't working for me. .
Any suggestions on how to fix this I really like the stock ticker option for the widget.
I am running Warm 2.2 rls5 on htc incredible with the stock ziggy kernal
Thank You:
Alexyaz
same here
I can start the installation and there is a processbar. But in the end it just says that the application has not been installed.
Is there a log file that could hint anything?
don't install it like a normal APK, copy it directly to /system/app with ADB or Root Explorer.
Swyped from my HTC Desire running LeeDrOiD 2.3d with Tapatalk.
How To install via ADB
* Restart your phone in recovery mode.
* Make sure you connected your phone to your machine
* Open console on your machine (any OS)
* Navigate to android sdk path (ex in windows- c:\dev\android-sdk\platforms-tools)
* Execute the following command,
>adb shell mount /system
>adb push <pathtoapk> /system/app

Voila! done.

There was an application called instantroot that roots HTC hero running 1.5 but until the software was upgraded nothing was done for the instantroot application. Do you have information about that? Is the developer still working on it?

Not heard of it for a while, but this method at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726118 works on 2.1 fine with little issues.
Thanks but I'm still looking for a very easy way to do the root. I don't know why(may be I'm afraid) but I still hesitate to root my hero. I'll think about it again, thank again.
Following that link pulser gave will give the easiest way to root your hero.
Its thanks to that I'm able to root it with no problems whatsoever.

Hmm. Are you having trouble too getting onto the site?
Here's the instructions as posted.
Hi all,
I believe I have managed to find a way to root the 2.1 RUU for GSM Hero, completely using the work of wag3slav3 over at XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724741), so thanks to him
I took his Droid Eris root and used the correct files for our Hero, and thanks to daentech on IRC, we tested the process and it worked. Here are the conditions used in the test:
1) GSM HTC Hero installed with the 2.1 ROM based on RUU (on this occasion an update.zip was used, as the user involved didn't want to lose root obviously). That zip is unrooted and stock, taken straight from the RUU and converted to update.zip.
2) Booted into ROM, and enabled USB debugging. ADB was installed and set up on this machine, as per this guide - http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1735
3) Then downloaded this file: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/uploads/GSMRoot.zip
4) Extract it to a folder on your computer. Open the command prompt using Start > Run > cmd.exe (and press enter)
5) use cd to get into the folder you stored the extracted files.
6) Run the command "runindos.bat"
(If you use linux, put adb in your path folder, and then download this shell script: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/uploads/runinlinuxadb.sh and execute it as normal. Rest will be same as in windows. )
7) Ideally, the phone should sit there for a bit, with some things appearing on screen like
Files copied and permissions set, rebooting HTC Andriod 2.1
Your phone will now reboot into normal mode, then reboot into recovery mode
If it does not reboot the second time, wait 10 minutes and manually reboot and begin again
Your phone is now rebooting in Rooted Recovery mode, do a backup and load yourROMs
Click to collapse
And it will reboot a couple of times. You will hopefully end up sitting in recovery with a blue 'care bear' in the background
If so, you now have a custom recovery installed. Do a nandroid, and flash a custom ROM like VillainROM 12 or whatever. You should now have root.
8) To further enhance the usefulness of recovery flash VR 12 from here: http://villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=1807 which includes a modified recovery that wipes better than the stock Amon-Ra
If you don't get it to work, please post any errors or details of what happens, and copy and paste your entire command prompt window contents into a
Code:
[/quote] box in the forum window so we can see what's happening.
Hope this works
[size=3]PS. Here are some ROM links for you.

I would love to take credit for that guide but the user ante0 created it (such a simple method I overlooked). Here is it quoted. It is missing pictures but should make enough sense (i hope). It is highly recommended to have the latest HTC Sync installed (link in my sig) for this guide.
Tools needed:
Android SDK (Links below)
HTC Sync (Links below)
Winrar - to extract Android's SDK files.
Patience and time.
1. Getting ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
Okay. You now need to get ADB, which is a part of android's SDK. It can be obtained here http://developer.android.com/sdk/downlo ... indows.zip
or if it's updated when you read this you can go here http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and download it. Get the Windows version if you use a windows PC.
Next we need to "install" it. This is done by simply extracting it to your harddrive (Install WinRar, then rightclick on the zip file). I chose C:\android-sdk-windows\. (Actually I chose C:\, the folder in the zip is named android-sdk-windows, so it goes there by default.)
After that is done we are now done with the "installing" part.
2. Setting up environment variables (access adb from outside of \sdk\tools directory.)
Now that we have extracted all files we need to set up environment variables to make our lives easier.
I always do this, because if you don't you need to be in the sdk\tools folder at all times...
Okay, so here we go...
Windows XP:
Rightclick on "My computer" and select "Properties".
click on the "Advanced" tab in the box that appears, looks like the pic below.
Image
Click on the button named "Environment Variables".
Now, doubleclick on the text entry named "Path" in the lower list box.
at the end of it, enter "might\have\other\entries\before\;C:\Path\To\SDK\Tools".
In my "path" it looks like this ";C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\".
(";" is required at the start so windows knows it's a new entry.)
Click on OK to exit out of the dialog, then OK again to get out of My computer's properties.
Now we have it set up.
Windows 7/Vista:
This is similar to Windows XP's setup of environment variables.
Rightclick on "My computer" and select Properties.
In the System window that appears click on "Advanced System settings" located in the left list.
Click on the Advanced tab in the box that appears, then on the "environment variables" button.
Same thing here. Doubleclick on "Path" located in the lower list box.
At the end of it, enter "might\have\other\entries\before\;C:\Path\To\SDK\Tools".
In my "path" it looks like this ";C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\".
(";" is required at the start so windows knows it's a new entry.)
Now click on OK, then OK again to exit.
Alright, all set up!
3. Making sure USB works...
Use this guide: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=379
4. Using ADB
I won't list all commands you can use here. I will only list some examples...
Remember to plug your phone in your usb cable (I've forgotten sometimes... lol)
Start by opening a command prompt.
This is done by opening up the startmenu then click on "Run..." (Alternative way: Windowskey + R).
In the "Run..." box, enter "cmd" without quotes.
If you have some knowledge of using a cmd prompt you don't need to read the next part.
To navigate you mainly use the commands CD and DIR.
Here's an image of what it looks like
Image
C:\Documents and settings\jwork> tells you what your current working folder is.
To get out of it, use the command "cd ..".
This will go back one folder, so your new location will be C:\Documents and settings>
One more "cd .." will take you to C:\.
Now, lets say you have a folder named Images in C:\. To enter it you use "cd Images".
If you want to list all files in that folder, enter the command "dir".
Now you might have a image named image01.jpg in that folder, that you want to get to your phone.
Use the command adb push image01.jpg /sdcard/
It should notify you now if the push was successful.
You can check if the image is on your sdcard by using the command "adb shell ls /sdcard/".
That should conclude this guide...
One more thing, if you just enter "adb" it will show a list of all commands with descriptions.

It's working on my hero.
Universal Androot? Never heard of it. But it looks great and easy. Can I also install another firmware after I root my device with it?
Can I install another firmware like FroydVillain 1.2.2 OTA on my hero after rooted it with this application?
If it installs a custom recovery image then yes you should be able to. If not try installing ClockworkMod and then installing AmonRA - once you have root.
You are the best. Thank you.

HELP!
After I replaced that libmedia file mentioned here, my HD2 wont boot anymore. I read about this issue (here) before, but how can I get the original one back to my phone? Have installed adb with all addons, but which mode do I have to choose to get access to my phone and how do I start ADB?
Where can I get the original "libmedia.so" file?
All Tuts I found are not for HD2.
I have Gingerbread Cyanogen Mod 2.4 NAND by mdeejay on my phone.
Thanks in advance, I hope u can help me save my latest contacts and sms.
SEE POST #3 FOR SOLUTION!
UPDATE: ADB runs, but doesnt recognize the phone using MAGLDR point 4. "USB flasher" and point 5. "USB TTY"
Which mode should I choose?
Thx for ignoring me!
[SOLVED:]
Plug the phone while its trying to boot to the USB-cable.
Navigate to the folder where the orginal "libmedia.so" is located ("cd c:\" for example)
Then, type: "adb push libmedia.so /system/lib/"
Of course, ADB needs to be installed properly, I did it using this video:
The recent version of the SDK (R08) doesnt have ADB in the "tools" folder, but in the "platform-tools" folder, so just move it to "tools".
I attached the WORKING "libmedia.so" file, so it will boot again!

adb push libmedia.so /system/lib/libmedia.so would have been correct. You have to specify the target path as well as the file name. As far as Navigon I cannot help as I do not own it.

Hello:
i tried to change my Bootanimation but with no Luck.
1. i tried to make a "theme" via Online Kitchen; got a file (about 6mb) flashed it via Recovery but Botscreen stayed at white "HTC-Briliant"
2. i tried to manualy delete the bootaniamtion.zip at /data/app/local with androidmate (free)--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10041079&highlight=bootanimation#post10041079

script:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:data\app\local data\app\local:
show_progress 0.1 10
4. tried to change the bootimage.zip in NEO's Reflext.Rom by deleting all unneccesary stuf and changing the bootanimation-zip
--> got stuck after Recovery so i had to reflash the whole ROM..
--------------------------------------------
why i'm not able to change this bootanimation ?
can someone provide me a funktional Update-zip for this ROM
(or a HowTo for doing it myself?)
i would like to test these Bootimages:

reboot

EDIT:
Try putting it into /system/customize/resource
thats where the bootanimation (and the boot sound..) was located on my desire rom.
tried this but:
1: i found no "resource" folder under /system/customize..
2. after creating this folder and copying bootanimation.zip nothing happens
it seems like NEO put it on a special place in his ROM so i cant't figure out..
Test this route: /system/etc/customer/bootanimation.zip ;-)
System/sd/app/local remplace the bootanimation.zip and reboot.
It worked !!
Thanks ASIER
the System/sd/app/local .. did the trick
why does neo uses this folder-structure.. weird ..
(and also thx to raa_ for his help)
does it make sense if i say, i don't have a /system/sd/app/local folder??? the sd part is nowhere to be found
any idea?
edit. found it on my Desire it was under /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
cheers
i think it depends on the ROM you are using!
i use the ReflextSense 1.7 from NEophyte.360
that uses the "unusual" path as postet before.
"normal" Sense ore SenseHD Roms are using different locations as you found out..
it is sad that there's not a standard-path for all roms !

try to download a "change bootanimation" zip from online kitchen or from the forum..

i hope it helps..

Here's a little bootanimation i was working on for the Desire.
Here's a preview :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fOI0HOMtak
Caution : You flash this at your own risk! I take no responsibility what happens to your phone! (99.9% it will work )
Note : This has only been tested on the Htc Desire | Samsung Galaxy S | ZTE Blade it is meant for 480x800px (and above) phones...but i think it will work on small resoultion phones as well
* How to instal * (rooted phones!)
1. Download the file (obviously)
2. Put the file on to your SD card
3. Use Root Explorer ( market Link ) or any other phone explorer that allows you to manipulate your rom files.
3. Navigate to where your existing bootanimation is (on Sense it's usually /data/local/ on AOSP it's /system/media)
4. And replace it (overwrite it) Don't forget to make a backup of your current Bootanim.
5. Reboot
* ADB method *
1. Connect your phone with the pc via USB cable and turn on USB debbuging
2. Put the file into your /tools folder where you installed your AndroidSDK)
3. Open CMD (command prompt)
4. Type :
Code:
cd location of your /tools folder (in example) cd c:\androidsdk\tools
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local ([B][U]for SENSE roms)[/U][/B]
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media [B][U](for AOSP roms)[/U][/B]
* Recovery *
1. Put file on your SDcard (no subfolders)
2. Boot into recovery
3. Flash the zip file
4. Reboot
Downlaods :
Code:
* (22.jan) all dll likns are dead,i will re-up then within the week,as well as v1.5
* You can still download it via http://uot.dakra.lt/ :)
If you have any suggestions and/or ideas /etc feel free the post them (no pm's plz)
ENJOY!
Awesome thanks!

Just have to test it on some other phones (just in case) and i'll release it when i get back to my dorm in 2days
cheers
@Ttalk.
Great work, thank you. Works fine.
Just tried it on my desire, very nicely done. Thanks !
Hey.
Using it on my Desire.
Really nice!
If you change the looping sequence so that you see no interruption when starting the loop sequence again it will be perfect.
In the splash screen thread is a perfect splash for the animation btw.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I don't get it, I followed the instructions but when I type in "adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/" it comes up with a message saying "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".
Someone help...please?
Desire, CM7, 3(UK)
Do you have ADB setup on you pc? see this thread > http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/06/how-to-set-up-adb-usb-drivers-for-android-devices/
or http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
Or just flash it through the Recovery,it's easier.
Looks really cool!
Nice, Thanks!
