Hi.
I have got a HTC Blackstone and recently after flashing a new version of a rom I'm usually using my phone stopped reading my sim card. Just about a week after I did it. Never had any problems with that so I'm curious if it might be a hardware issue. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Edit. To be more specific, its latest Energy rom reference. Forgot the build number but its the stable one. I obviously tried hard resetting and I have also tried flashing a different rom but it didn't help. I'm considering going back to stock rom but I don't know if it will help.

i had a simular problem..
no fix dude..
This is so not cool!
Had my HTC Blackstone for just over a year now, flashed the new energy ROM and the next day it vibrated in my pocket. I thought I had a txt but it said that the sim card was missing. Restarted it countless times, each time taking out the battery and the sim and blowing on it to remove any dust... nothing! Tried flashing various different ROMs including the latest official WWE.. nothing! If there is ANY fix for this, help would be greatly appreciated... if there is none i might as well buy a super cheap phone while i save up for a 7 Pro as it may take a while... working at Woolworths doesn't exactly pay well, especially when your 17 Thanx for the $800 dollar paperweight HTC!

Hey bud, I had the same problem with three of my devices. I believe it's hardware related. i actually had to put two bits of paper behind the sim card to push it against the connection terminals. It is really dodgy but my HD doest have a problem reading the card.
Also try gently cleaning the terminal points on the sim card with a dry cloth, this helps also.
Hope this helps, BJ.

After a lot of ****ing around and the purchase of numerous SD cards, because of the ****ed Bootloader 5.17. I decided to seek professional help to re-flash my ROM. My boss said his friend got it done for $A-100. Still relatively expensive, so I did my own research and found that ACCS (Accord Customer Care Solutions) did it for $A-45. Nice price :lol:
It took them about half an hour and I started the XDA up and the Radio software wasn't working. After thinking about it, I re-installed the official XDA release and my phone is working again. For the first time in TWO MONTHS. Thank god for that. I would have liked to be able to solve the problem myself, but it took a hell of a lot of ****ing around.
Anyone in Melbourne with the same problem, call ACCS on (03) 9348-5555.
Cheers for everybodies help, all I know is I'm not going to **** around with the ROM anymore.
Take it easy.
Sorry if it's a late advice, but you could have saved this money by using the XDAtools to flash your bootloader to 5.15 then use the SD card.
I tried numerous times, but the XDA didn't like my SD card or the new one I purchased. Which was also a waste of money, so the $45 isn't a concern.
Hey guys, sorry this is so long. So i posted something here about a week or two ago stating that my Evo which I bought on craigslist is resetting. The info I have for this evo is as follows:
Rooted to Metro pcs
Firmware version: 2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-a2443432 htc-kerneland 18-2 #1
Build number Bugless beast to0mod vo 0.1
Software number 1.32.651.6
Let me start off by telling you what I have done so far after extensive research. I have done countless factory resets. Bought two new batteries. I have wiped data, and cache dalvik etc. I have (which was a recommendation by someone on here) installed metro droid 2.0. Which actually just made things worse and wound up having to boot into recovery to revive my phone.
I can't even finish watching a video on you tube. It will reset when music is playing, in the middle of a call or text, if the battery is hot or cold.
Sometimes it will get into a reboot cycle where the only screen that I see is the white evo screen. Other times it will get all the way to the android screen and then reset. Sometimes the white screen will just stay there. Usually this will go one for about a half an hour to an hour when finally by the grace of God himself will finally stay on and fully boot on.
I don't have astro or any task manger installed.
I'm really at a loss here folks. I called htc and they said that they would RMA it for me and as a last ditch resort I will do that but I was hoping the powers here might be able to lend me a hand. Thanks for all insightful help. PLLLEEAASE HELP!
Cheers, Jason
You're definitely going to need a new one. Mine was doing the same thing and its not fixable :/ but I got it swapped out same day from sprint, maybe you can ask HTC really nicely haha

Good luck man, hopefully they get it fixed for you!
Have you tried using the phone without the SD card?
I used to have a similar issue, took the SD card out and no mor random reboots/resets.

I knid of tried that, even reformatted my sd card. Etc and yet it still resets.
Oh well went to metro today to purchase a cheapy phone to hold me over while the evo is rma 'ed. HTC did say that they would tell me what is the matter with the phone when they determine whats up with it. IF I am told anything pertinent I will share it with everyone as I see this issue is quite a pain for a lot of people.
Cheers,

~~~ EDIT ~~~
I picked someone who wants to develop on it and PM'd them. Thanks for the interest but it's gone, I'll post again if they fail to reply, otherwise 'that's all, folks...'
So, I never got this thing working well from CyanogenMod 5 onward. I've tried everything I could find, including reverting to stock, and now I have a 'UUID Mismatch error'. The phone isn't bricked, I can flash recoveries and ROMs all day long, they just aren't stable at all. It may have a hardware problem, or maybe I am missing something. I'm done fighting with it, maybe one of you will have better luck. I've lost root just now reverting it to stock, but you can just re-root it or use it for parts.
It's a US T-Mobile G1, white, in great condition. I've removed the Micro SD card, and my SIM, obviously.
I have a car charger, data cable, headphone adapter w/ headphones, and the original fabric case that came with it, plus the original battery & battery cover. I also have a clear plastic hard shell with a kickstand.
I'm in the UK now, so I can post it to anyone in the UK, and I'll just trust you to reimburse me for shipping once you get it. The phone isn't worth much anymore and postage isn't much, so no big deal.
PM me or reply here if you want it, and I'll pick someone at random.
thanks
Hi,
I'm really hoping someone might be able to give me some advice.
I've had my Desire HD for about eight months now, and counting the one I lost about 10 minutes ago, I've gone through a total of ten memory cards.
Each time I get a message saying it's been unexpectedly removed, or that it is blank or damaged. I've tried Sandisk and Samsung cards, all Class 2 / 8GB.
I hardly ever remove the memory card, but when I do I am always careful to unmount it. The same as when I connect it to my PC via USB.
After the 8th memory card died, the Gingerbread update had just been released, and I was hoping it was due to a software issue. However, as expected, my 9th memory card died shortly after. I contacted HTC who sent me ONE replacement SD card, to which I explained that I wanted my phone repaired. Courier picked it up, they said that it was being caused by a software issue and simply done a reset.
I knew it wouldn't work, and low and behold my 10th memory card has just died.
I am now contemplating going to Phones4U and asking for a replacement, as someone else has mentioned in the forum. However, there was one thing I wanted to check with people first.....
I connect my phone to my car stereo via Bluetooth, which I use as a handsfree and to listen to music that is stored on my phone. Now, normally I just turn my car stereo off. How likely is it that this could be causing the card failure? I don't see how, as the memory card isn't physically being removed, but I wanted to get people's thoughts on this before I start pushing Phones4U for a replacement!
I don't think your cards are physically damaged. They just need to be formatted.
I don't think it's my cards that are physically damaged, but it must be a hardware issue with the phone. Each of the memory cards either say it's been removed, or that it's blank or damaged. Some of them I can put into my PC and repair. Some of them worked again after I had formatted them, however 5 out of the 10 would not even be picked up by my PC.
I have now emailed Phones4U, so I shall see where I get (if anywhere) with them.
What HTC firmware are you using? There was an issue with 1.72 that caused symptoms such as yours. That is one of the issues that got the OTA pulled.
I have the phone number for Phones4U's written complaints team, the team that you always get told don't accept incoming calls. Should you need it, just let me know.
Sounds a very similar problem to mine mate........
Hi there s32bauer,
I think i may have seen the same problem, although i have only tried 2 /sdcards and they BOTH work on the PC or lappy afterwards.
See this thread for more on my issue,
Hope you have a little more luck than myself.
I have had some great help off some great people on here at XDA though......Thanks guys...
P.S. Have you been running any custom ROM's? If so, what were they?
i had the same problem when on 1.72, i went through 3 16sdhc cards. i fixed this by rooting and using leedroids gingerbread.
all three cards which were broke i managed to fix and they are now in good use in my wifes wildfire and our galaxy tabs, the 32gb card i now have in my phone has been in there for about 4 months now with no more unexpected removals.
The only other time i had this problem was with my motorola milestone, it also ate cards - but the phone was next to useless as it was sig locked and never updated (got a full refund as flash never arrived in the 9 months i owned the pos).
Gone through 10 memory cards that's absolutely insane!! Even more insane that a OTA can be released that causes it.
I think your owed some replacements if the cards are screwed.
The same has happened to me... I broke around 5 SDcards like that. Problem solved by rooting the phone and Gingerbread !
I've been through quite a lot. The first two died on 1.32 I believe. Then I lost SIX on the 1.72 firmware. Another one once I'd upgraded to Android 2.3, and then the final one the other once I'd received it back from HTC.
The number for Phones4U would be brilliant, thanks!
Hey, thanks for the link. I'll have a look through, although I'm going to continue to push for a brand new replacement I think.
Tried 1.32, then to 1.72, and then Android 2.3. One of them was a custom ROM, but had one die on that one too unfortunately, so I'm quite sure it's just my phone being a dud! lol
Hmmm, HTC Support only feel that I'm entitled to ONE replacement card lol. Pathetic really. Still, hopefully Phones4U might be a bit more co-operative.
Just been looking at the SanDisk warranty on faulty non working micro SD cards - you should be able to get replacements as long as you have proof of purchase.
Maybe spread them out over a few weeks each if you have a few
Any pointers on which type of card yours is? I think it needs to be a sdhc card but dont know what class number it should be. I seem to see that they have different classes.
Or which seller you purchased from??
110 US dollars? you can pick up a working one for about that or just a little more.
I wouldn't touch it, that's for sure. Without an sd card there's not a lot you can do, a new mainboard would cost about $110, and although im sure there are plenmty of skilled electronics engineers that can swap out teh sd card slot, its probably pretty tricky, and we all know how easy it is to accidentally destroy something else when opening them up. There are LOADS of threads that start 'i opened the case to fix X and ended up ripping the volume cable/button cables/gps antenna/and now wifi dopesnt work/touch screen has stopped responding', , even several cases where a repair shop hands teh unit back to teh customer worse than when they took it in to teh shop.
aww so its better to leave .. and my search continues...
TFYI.
