I just got my wife an unlocked touch dual (neon200) and much to our dismay it is a 20key. She wouldl ike to be able to use T9 on the number keys like her old dumbphone.
Is there a hardware/software change/tweak to change from 20key to 16key for this phone?
same problem
Same problem !

I almost ahve the same problem. I have an unlocked japanese ntt docomo neon100 and I can't get the 16 key hard keyboard to work in english no matter what cab I install or rom I cook.
if you infd a way to patch the telstra one I bet it would fix my problem too.
I wish mine was a 20 key version and not a 16

Visiting in Singapore, I am using SingTel Mobile prepaid service with my MDA which has the latest T-Mobile ROM. Since T-M UNlocked the phone for me, it works fine with the new SIM, BUT there is a strange "side effect" of the SingTel SIM:
The phone (soft) keypad NO longer appears on the screen, BUT it does work (as long as you know "where" the soft keys are ) because the phone responds when you press the screen in the correct position.
Any idea what's going on here...does it have anything to do with the CID lock, for example?
There is nothing real going on there!
First: your Singapore SIM card supports a non-latin language, your device is an English one I guess?
Second: there might be some 'active' application installed on your SIM card from the service provider which cause the problem. I know from countries in Europe that they put some mini programs on there which usually appear in your phone's menu (if they are programmed correctly).
But I really think it is the LANGUAGE of your SIM card which is not really supported by the phone.
hello is there anyone that knows how to get english rom on the hermes, i think I know how but it continues to lock up on me and say something about usim dont know what else it says because its in Japanese. If I dont have my sim card in it still gives me the error, but it will allow me to put in 3 zeros and unlock it but when I do it calls 911. I was told this is an emergency unlock. I know I sound ignorant but I am new to this. does anyone know the code to unlock the phone for use. it will not allow me to use the qwerty keyboard or any letters only the numbers on the screen.

Hi If you look in the Hermes wiki you will find a link to an installer which will change the Japanese to English so you can read it. Then you can install a new rom assuming the phone is not locked to a specific carrier. If so follow the unlock steps as well. Read all the instructions and do not deviate or you will brick your phone which is worse than it only being in Japanese.
Home this helps.
I didn't know what a ROM was a month ago, now due to this site I am loading all kinds of crazyness on my phone.
Do any of the network providers in the UK supply the 20 key version ?
I'm looking at my options at the mo

Ask to the providers if the Niki is P5500 (16 key version) or P5520 (20 key version)

Click to collapse
tbh, most of them would know this.
Doesn't matter now, I've ordered it as an upgrade from T-Mobile, can't wait for it to arrive, but I will have to because of Easter
Have a good one everybody.

hi guys,
given an HTC touch to me from work in AU. just curious on how do i identify if its a Dual / GSM or other model
just trying to find software updates for this thing (rom & other)
cheers
It's simple
HTC Touch Dual is slider-phone with Hardware keyboard
HTC Touch (GSM) build on TI Omap 850 CPU (200MHz)
HTC Touch (CDMA) build on Qualcomm MSM7200 CPU (400MHz)
cheers for that ..
as my phone slides open, i have a HTC Touch Dual is slider-phone with Hardware keyboard
and from what i have read thus far, there is no updated ROM
oh, now i feel stupid for not actually seeing what it says on the back of the phone
"TOUCH DUAL"
If the phone is through Telstra it is a Neon 200, if it is through Optus it is a Nike Dual I believe (dont quote me on the Optus thing), I have a Telstra Touch Dual (Neon 200).
Edit : Telstra has a 20 key keyboard, and optus have a 16 key keyboard.
Fickle:
Power off you device.
Press and hold "Camera" button and power on device, device will enter Bootloader. And you will see you real device name (Niki or Neon).
After that, you just flash new spl (Isn't same for Niki and Neon)
oh, how cool is that .. thanks for that
NIKI100
SPL-1.16.0000
CPLD-4
fortunately i see no topic in respect to NIKI within these forums
It's a good device
Just everybody waiting for wi-fi/gps/Video accelerator (All 3 features disabled by HTC) and got little nervous
this is my favorite phone thus far .. and yes, WiFi would be great
i did the upgraded rom / W6.1 upgrade to it via instructions from here as well.. now i am more of a happier person
well, after some time, you will create your own ROM
Hello! when i installed swype keyboard on my htc hd2 after restarting when i write my 4 digit code nothing happens. I don't want to lose my contacts and I'm not doing hard reset
Please help me.
well documented, some versions of swype check the phone model ID to c heck it is a tmous, and if it isn't it screws up the password. (Though you are in the tmous section, so I assume you have a tmous? perhaps its more than the model ID..)
I don't understood what is tmous?
t mobile usa hd2
the one with green send key and red end key, , says 't mobile' beneath the earpiece.
My htc hd2 is made in Taiwan and it is not T-Mobile
