System process: Suspend - EVO 4G General

I noticed looking at my battery usage that "android system" was all of a sudden using about 92% of my CPU (normally it's less than 10%). When I went into system monitor I saw that the system process "suspend" was the main culprit.
I rebooted the phone and now it's back to normal, with android system using 3% of battery, and cell standby using the largest chunk. A few days later the problem was back again.
What could cause this?

Hi,
I had this problem too, two days ago.
But with a HTC Desire and a Custom ROM (DeFrost 2.0b, Froyo).
It used 30% of the CPU the whole time, until I rebooted, then all works fine...

1% of the battery gone every 1min ??

I recently flashed to JM5 + Lagfix 2.3, installed a few apps and played around with the phone until it dropped to 15% battery.. charged it to 100% and went out while i was on the way to my destination i was just exploring around the UI getting to know andriod a little better and I noticed my battery % was dropping like 1% per 1min.. I have the mod for battery indicator with %. my total unplugged time was 2hrs+ my battery was down to 64%. Looking at the battery usage its saying that 75% of it was taken by the display and the run timer was 38mins.. i have the brightness level at 1/4 of the way and it seems to drain unreasonably fast.. all other process was at 2-3% usage only. This never happened when I got the phone for the first 3 days ( came with DXJG4 )
Wifi/bt/gps/autosync/bgdata are all off, using 2G network also and power saving for the display is also off.
Is my battery flakey or just the OS giving me the wrong information ?
Ok so i wiped my internal SD card and reflashed JM5 + repartition again and after booting my battery when to 68% from 53%..
EDIT:
Rebooted the phone and im now getting 56% LOL!
There's a thread about resetting your battery threshold in the development section. Try that.
previously when i reboot my phone, it'll fly from ~20% to ~50% lol. it's just some calibrating issue i think. i drained it to ~5% then charged it up until it NOTIFIES me that it's fully charged(ignore the battery meter / %), wait for the popup thing specifically.
works fine for me.

Good post thanks.
Got 1 tip Ive noticed recently and that is to ''Reboot your phone at very least once a week''. Reason for this as Ive left it for 2 weeks with out reboot and charged up full and went to work which was 40 mins away. Then noticed that battery was at 80%. So an hour later was down to 50%. I checked my running services and nothing running only standard android stuff. So I rebooted and then was on 40% and that lasted me 11hrs of radio while at work with 4 calls I made.
I know you can ''wipe battery stats'' in Recovery but I didn't use it this time but rebooting the phone stopped the massive drain.
May be different for you?
I wiped the battery stats when it was fully charged, and now it lasts 2 days without recharge. I'm also running juice defender for some more power saving.

[Q] how to find the reason for sudden battery drain?

so, i am having a lot of fun with my HD2. And since a few months i have ICS running and in the mean time i have 81 apps installed.
What is so strange is that all of a sudden the last weeks i noticed that the battery drain without using the phone at all! I am used when leaving the phone at the side of the bed at night, the battery drain in the morning would be 10-20
%. ok by me. But now in the night without using the phone the battery drain becomes 40-50%!
how do i find out what is changed on the phone, or what is happening for this drain to occur?
i can go to settings and the tab energy gives me an overview of the things that used the energy. Even in the night it is the screen? how can this be?
there's an app that can show you your current drain but i can't seem to find it
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=current+battery+&c=apps
or your battery is dying out? how old is the battery & is it an original one?

@OP if you're using SD Android see this thread, it should solve it for you. I had the same issue. If on NAND, you need to check what you've changed to get such high drain. It should really only be around 4mA with data on, 2mA in ariplane mode and 5mA with wifi on. Turn off all unused connections, kill background apps, increase sync intervals etc.

Phone app is using lots of battery

It started last week, I think after the update to 4.4.1 (stock). Phone app seems to be using lots of battery. My phone is usually only charged every other day, but now I need to charge it daily. I have not installed anything new last week.
The pattern is very weird. There are times where it suddenly drain lots of battery for no reason - no call was being made - then sometimes it fix itself.
Right now, the phone app is showing
CPU Total 21m
CPU foreground 0s
Keep awake 3h 40m
Same issue as this person here:

Note 3 Exynos - Battery dying even on standby

I bought my Note 3 in December from a Samsung Smart Cafe. The phone was amazing throughout the last few months. 2 days on medium usage, amazing WiFi connectivity, awesome gaming experience.
However, 3 nights back I had left the phone (at 50% battery) and gone to bed around 23.00 hours. The next morning I woke up late at exactly 10.00 hrs. When I went to check for any missed calls I found that the battery had completely drained off and the phone was dead. I turned it back on t see that the battery percentage was 1%.
I want to clear out that the following are deactivated on my phone:
1) S-Voice
2) Wake up in lock Screen
When I checked the battery stats I found that the screen was using 56% of the battery. How could that possible be when the screen was switched off the whole time.
Since then every night there has been a drain of about 46% every night. Earlier it used to be only 2-3%.
Could you guys please help me out here? Really tensed
P.S: Last night I left the phone on flight mode and went to sleep. The battery drain was only 1%.
Guys! It happened last night again. This time around, the battery drop-out was around 40%.
Please help me out on this. Any kind of suggestion would be awesome.
Install app called gsam from Google play, one of your app may not allowing your phone to go on deep sleep. If you have installed any app recently try to uninstall.

Hey, the most recent apps that I had installed before the battery went bonkers were:
1) Truecaller
2) BosonX
3) Freeze
I uninstalled all of the three apps.
I have installed GSam battery monitor and the main stat that is abnormal according to me is that the battery discharges 43% even when the screen is off. I have a radio signal usage of about 42% which I think is pretty normal and I do not have bad reception.
Still, last night the battery went down to 80% from a full charged state of 100.

Let Gsam to monitor for two or three more complete charge & discharge cycle so u may come to know where is the problem, some time ext sd card also causing battery drain problem, if u have than try to use phone without sd card for couple of days.
