Just got the SGS 5 days ago and noticed a couple of bugs, started when I set my alarm for monday morning and it didnt go off. I then saw that the clock that the top of the screen said 23:00 which was wrong as it was 07:00. What confused me more was that the phone locked screen showed the proper time.
2nd the browser works for a while then decides to say I have no connection every time I go to a new page, even though it loads it up so I have to keep hitting the ok button.
With both of these problems are fixed with a reboot, but I dont want to have to reboot each night to make sure the clock works in the morning.
Any ideas?

I've read a lot about people having issues with their alarms. This morning, I had the first one of those.
Alarm was set for 7.30, when I woke up around 8.30 and picked up the phone, it seemed the clock was stuck at 4.30 am and took about 3 seconds to update (not the fancy HTC clock, the one in the notification bar!). I went to bed last night around midnight and didn't touch the phone all night.
Alarm did not go off even belatedly once the clock updated. This is also not a recurring alarm issue since I only set this one last night. Also not a sound issue, the volume was up quite high and not mistakenly set to silent as has happened to some people.
Has anyone else experienced this?
(and yes, I'm still running a T-Mobile G2 stock ROM, too much of a chicken to update to the new leaked ROM! Hoping HTC will roll it out officially ASAP!))
Thanks for any input!
I've had the same problem with my Hero, and I had the same problem with my old XDA Orbit (also made by HTC) that was running Windows Mobile.
I wonder if it's a hardware issue with the way HTC interfaces their firmware with the hardware clock or something like that.
i do also have the same problem, sometimes. it helps to simply reboot the phone. i don't know why it goes in some kind of "deep-sleep", but i hope it will be fixed in the next update.
I've had the same thing (ish) but it was just a crash - I'd been installing and uninstalling apps all night, didn't reboot my phone before going to bed at 11pm. When my alarm failed to go off, I looked at the clock and it was stuck on 11.03pm and the screen wouldn't slide down to unlock, so it had crashed just after I'd gone to bed.
Since then, if ever I'm installing and uninstalling and testing apps and fiddling with settings, I always reboot when I'm done just to make sure nothing's misbehaving. Not had the problem since.
I tend to turn on the alarm each night and turn it off in the morning.
Not had an issue with it failing yet.
Not that that is the right way around it as it should go off at the same time each day when left on all the time.
But it may help if some are having a recurring issue.
Hey guys, so this has happened the last two nights -- at exactly 2:02am my Droid X locks hard. Just did it again. I have no idea what is going on here but I have to pull the battery.
Last night it was on the charger (And the screen was on) so when I picked it up this morning it said 2:02 on the lock screen. Just now I was listening to music and dead stop -- screen was off but I looked at the clock on my computer and sure enough: 2:02.
Just set the clock manually to 2:01 and started a song -- let us see what happens in one minute.
*SIGH*
My phone has been working generally well..... but then I had a strange issue last night where the phone became super unresponsive accessing the SD, so I rebooted. Then the 2:02 lockup .. and then today the battery drained really quickly. A check of CPU spy and the phone never entered deep sleep. Battery manager showed the phone never going to sleep as the "awake" bar went across the whole screen even though Screen on was less than 1 hour total.
Manual clock set to 2:01 did not result in a freeze as I let it go to 2:03... I just set it to 1:59 to see if that makes a difference.
Stock latest GB, root, debloat done myself (fresh install and debloat a couple weeks ago) .... really at my wit's end with Motorola phones. I have a Droid X2 but find that phone generally unusable due to the extremely lackluster performance including the constant audio dropouts, even with the latest GB release.
Anyone else ever seen this 2:02 thing? Or have any idea where I can even begin to look to fix it? I don't see a crontab file on here. I haven't installed any new apps other than the usual updates that seem to happen every day.
....Manual clock is now at 2:04 (from 1:59) with no freeze. So I don't know WTF is happening. I had rebooted the phone around 8pm tonight .. actually had to pull the battery. Did a "reboot" from the Terminal Emulator and the phone went black and never started rebooting.
I'm so fed up with this damn phone!!
That's not happening to mines
Hard reset your phone n back up SMS, files, etc.
Try different battery!

Not sure if this is a problem with the phone or some settings i'm missing. I bought the phone 2 weeks ago so i think there is still time to get a replacement but i was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before.
The stock weather widget that is on the home screen by default does not refresh the weather sometimes. If you manually click on the refresh sign from the home screen, it shows it trying to refresh but nothing changes. Same happens if you open the app and refresh from there.
I have data turned on, sync, gps, etc. Nothing i can see that would be stopping it.
The problem is fixed if i reboot the phone. If the phone has been up for about 6-7 hours it still does the refresh just fine. If its been up for 30+ hours the problem above starts happening.
I have another S4 as well, have not been able to catch if the same thing happens with it, but a side by side comparison of "status" and all the apps running is identical and where my phone fails to update the weather (up time over 30 hours) this other one works just fine (up time 5 hours).
The only difference between the 2 is that my phone is rooted.
Happened with my s2. Not my s4
I think i was able to narrow it down and i'm starting to think there is nothing wrong here.
Clearing cache/data on the app also brings it back so no need to re-start. But the failed refresh seems to happen when i'm not able to get a GPS signal. (would be nice if it actually dont you this with an error pop up or something) Still need to try it a few more times but im 95% certain its timing out if it cant lock on GPS. It only seems to happen inside.
The other phone was working even without GPS turned on, which i thought was odd.I later found that it was not displaying current city, but instead was just configured to display the city i happened to be in.
I have my phone for almost 2 months now.
Last week I updated to latest 4.4.2 available,
using the android popup asking me if I want to.
Everything was just fine, until 3 days ago.
Every day for the last 3 days I had one random restart per day.
Day 1...unlocking the lockscreen...
lockscreen was fine after several times pressing power button,
but unlocking the phone just made black screen instead of desktop screen,
notification bar worked fine on the top and sliding it down...
After minute or so phone restarted
Day 2...while opening messages
Black screen and restart after a minute.
Day 3
I turned the screen off and wanted to turn it back on and unlock it,
nothing happened after pressing the power button
I just toke the battery out and restarted the phone,
because I already knew that this would happen after waiting a minute anyway.
I did not install any new applications or change anything on the phone for the last 3 days
I have auto update disabled.
I participate in the Facebook android beta program,
but since the aplication was not updated for more than a week,
I doubt that it causes daily crashes, if it did not before.
I still have not found a solution yet.
Phone is rebooting once a day or once in a two days...
Nobody knows what could it be?
I have noticed almost every single night for the previous two weeks my Essential phone restarts itself. The only way I can tell this is when checking my phone in the morning the pin lock comes on and says pin must be entered after restarting. This happened with the November security update and still happening after downloading the December security update. Is anyone else noticing this?
From the title I thought you found randomly placed red boots every day just walking around..
Mine has done that a few times but it's not every night. I'm running the oreo beta and have automatic updates enabled so I assumed it was due to that.
Happening to me too and it's causing my alarm to not go off in the morning (using Sleep as Android). Been late to work twice now this week because of it. Super annoying, probably going to reach out to Essential support for it.
Edit: Found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/essential/comments/7hqf8s/ph1_restarts_every_night_when_charging/
And that seems to be the case on my phone - it's not restarting overnight but it is going into doze and requiring the additional security when waking. This, unfortunately, is also suspending Sleep As Android. So I've tried excluding it from the battery optimizations to see if this will help.

Well I guess that's good to know. The aggravating thing being that it resets the Smart Lock when doing this. So now " I " have to restart my phone every morning so I can reset the Smart Lock so my phone stays unlocked while connected to my Android.

Coming back to this, because I'm still having issues. Sleep As Android gets suspended overnight. It initially was happening randomly, now it seems to happen every night.
I still believe the phone may be crashing, just not completely rebooting. I noticed that a reddit app I use (Relay) was using much more CPU recently and making the phone warm, draining the battery... while previous use didn't really do this. So I went to clear the cache for the app from system settings.
The phone froze... touchscreen became unresponsive. I gave it 15-20 seconds and it was still stuck so I tried to hold the power button in an attempt to find which button combination would force a reset. During this time, the phone decided to respond again and took all of the input I had tried at once - the power menu came up and it returned to the lock screen.
At the bottom of the lock screen - "Unlock the phone to use all features and data" just as it shows up every morning after "deep doze"
But the phone's uptime didn't restart. 131 hours and counting now.
So maybe this is a warranty-able issue after all.
