I'm hoping for a thread to list all the release date rumors. If you read it on a web site, post a link to the article. If you heard it from someone, describe who told you.
I'm hoping we get an official release date announcement within a week, two tops. With t-mobile releasing on the 15th and at&t 3 days later, it would behoove Sprint quite a bit not to drag their heals on this release any longer than absolutely necessary. If this isn't on store shelves by mid-August, I'll be rather disappointed.
Verizon hasn't announced a release date for their SGS yet so I'll grant Sprint some leeway, but as soon as Verizon announces, Sprint had better not be far behind.
Me too. I really can't wait much longer (for practical reasons). If it doesn't have a release date by the time the droid 2 comes out, I'll probably have to get that instead.
So far the most accurate prediction I have read is that they will be released one after the other a week apart, so far that's been true with the first two handsets. First was released on the 11th followed by the 18th I'm guessing the 3rd on the 25th and the last on the 1st. As to which is released next I have no idea.

Tmobile version launches the 15th not 11th, so thats 3 days apart for the tmo and att versions
I called sprint on friday and asked when the epic 4g was going to be released. The rep said that she did not know about this device. She did a search and she said it was in her system. I asked if there was a release date and she said there wasnt one in the system but she said once they are in the system they are released in a few weeks. I hope its released this month.

July 24th???
We have the Captivate on July 15th, now we have the Fascinate on the 18th, T-mobile's Vibrant is supposed to be the 21st. With this 3 day pattern, dare I assume the Epic will be out on the 24th? I hope I am wrong and it's earlier, but the 24th would be better than August!

I think you are a little mixed up. The Vibrant is the 15th, the Captivate is the 18th and I don't think the Fascinate or Epic 4G have any release date set.
Analysis of the Samsung phones
I broke down each phone myself with pro's and cons including the carrier.
I have a formatted file, but unfortunately forum rules seem to forbid html, so here is my text conversion.
=-=-=-=-Tmobile Vibrant:=-=-=-=-=
PROS
----
-1st to release (15th?)
-Cheapest to possibly own. Buy the contract phone for $199, opt out, pay the ETF for $200. For $200 more than contract you'll have it out right and can join Tmobile's contract free plan for $59 (all inclusive). For Highest use of data and text, this is the plan to get.
-built in memory for storage of 16GIG
-High speed internet capable (4G speeds)
-ETF of just $200
CONS
----
-no flash camera
-no front camera
=-=-=-=-ATT captivate:=-=-=-=-=
PROS
----
-ATT plan is most flexible. Can pick and choose from $15 data plan if necessary. $5 text for 200 msgs if you don't use that alot. If high street use is not critical, brings costs equal to tmobile or even the cheapest overall if you have a corporate discount which ATT regularly gives.
-same hardware pros and cons as tmobile vibrant version
CONS
-----
--Same negatives as Tmobile.
--can be expensive if highest use is needed.
--ATT network is pretty bad. been an iphone customer for years and it does suck.
--ETF of $325
=-=-=-=-Verizon Fascinate:=-=-=-=-=
PROS
----
-Network typically has high corporate discounts (i have %25 off). with discounts can become one of the cheaper plans.
-Best network overall in quality of calls.
-Hardware : Has flash camera, 1 gig more internal storage than similar EPIC.
-No keyboard can be a positive is size and weight is an issue.
CONS
-----
-Verizon plan can be the most expensive
-Droid X possibly has better hardware. It has equal video and most likely faster TI processor. Bigger screen too if you liked the EVO.
If i was choosing Verizion, i'd choose the Droid X anyday. See my next post.
-Family plans suck.
-ETF of $350 (premium phone)
=-=-=-=-Sprint EPIC:=-=-=-=-=
PROS
----
-Sprint typically has corporate discounts (25% here)
-EPIC is the most feature rich of the samsung family.
-Keyboard
-Sprint plans usually include Sprint TV, which is nice.
-ETF of $200
-best family plans in costs, if you want all smartphones.
-Very fast data from what i can tell on my EVO. But i came from ATT.
-30 guarantee
CONS
-----
-if you don't have a discount, plans will be the most expensive. Sprint will charge $10 a month for having a 4G phone even if you don't live in 4G area.
-Sprint coverage is so-so in many cities
-Big phone, thick and heavier than the rest.
-smallest amount of built in storage (1 GIG)
i wanted to add:
Ii talked to the sprint guys Sunday and was assured that while they couldn't tell me the release date, they did know it and can only say it would be in July.
also, wanted to post these images. The last column is closest to what the Droid X will have (3630 not the 4440). if anyone has updated stats on the 3630, please post.

This is another image i found while reseaching droid x (motorola shadow) vs. the samsungs.
It looks like a quantrant test where the shadow was listed and running faster than any galaxy known. I'm no expert on this test, but it looks impressive. conclusions from this test were :
Shadow (verizon droid X) is running Android 2.1, and outscores Galaxy S and Nexus One with Android 2.1 which would make the Motorola Shadow the fastest device with Android 2.2.

Not exactly fair but ok, out of those phones in the picture you're saying the top phone is the Shadow followed by the Galaxy S? I'm only counting 2.1 phones since the Nexus One I have no doubt would win with 2.2 and JIT, but that's pretty nice to hear, and if that July rumor holds up all I can say is woohoo!

It is still hard to say which will be "best"...What makes the Galaxy S impressive is its GPU...the above pretty much shows how well the devices do without the GPU and only the CPU..so it means that the Shadow has a more powerful CPU in terms of number crunching...or the CPU is efficient for the kind of test....
From what I am reading the 1ghz OMAP that is in the Droid X is 20million polygons..so once 2.2 comes to both devices..my guess is the galaxy S would gain the most benefit and win out in the end.
I am for sure going to add a epic to my collection but I wanted to post this so you can see that the evo is a good phone. HTC just screwed up big time. I hit this score even with the fps cap. I have a fps hack but I only get 40 fps. My n1 gets 60+ with same hardware.

if it was 2.1, it would make it faster than next gen phones like the Sammy's and DroidX, which is unlikely.
Ok I think I know why the Shadow does so well..if I remember correctly the DroidX uses a DSP to help it process certain types of graphics...it is possible the DSP is working properly even in 2.1 whereas the other phones do not have their GPU acceleration till Froyo...
This would explain the above numbers..

For about a Month now, I've been told by the manager of my local T-Mobile UK store that he will give me a USB to 3.5mm converter for free (the one that came in the box) because mine was broke.
And for about a Month now, they've had no stock of G1s not just in this store but in every store in Birmingham and therefore unable to give me one. The manager told me the G1 was at the end of its cycle and soon to be discontinued.
Anyway, they STILL don't have any G1s in. Furthermore today I noticed that HTC have removed the Dream from their Product Page on the website.
Looks like it has been discontinued and will be replaced by the Mytouch 3G in America (I don't get the press' big obsession with this phone, it's all I read about lately yet it's been available on vodafone here for months?) and the G1 Touch (Hero) in the UK.
IT's a shame, I would have liked them to run both handsets at the same time tbh.
Dream is not being discontinued, it may simply be being dropped by tmobile. tmobile are douchebags anyways -- they shouldn't be debranding the phones since it misleads the feeble-minded into believing that they are the hardware manufacturer and it also makes it more difficult to track products. The Dream has very recently been picked up by rogers in Canada (only one month ago), so it is nowhere near the end of its life.

Precisely. Its at the end of the TMO lifespan. They really wanted the G1 to suck in subscribers and get a feel for Android's popularity. Now that the buzz has shifted towards other devices coupled with the expiration of the exclusivity agreement, TMO feels that it would be better off putting efforts on new/different devices. Business as usual.
This is exzatly why I want a iphone... G1, mytouch, hero, all this ****, they make a phone good going for a serveral months, then just drop it like that..
perhaps tmo uk is dropping the g1, i'm not sure. however, tmo us is NOT dropping the g1, nor planning on doing so anytime soon.

Correct. The current T-Mo US roadmap has the G1 being discontinued sometime in October 2009, and that assumes they have another Android phone with a keyboard to replace it on schedule, otherwise they'll hold off longer.
It's only been out a little over 8 months, talk of discontinuation is way premature.
Ive notice that Optus in Australia (one and only dream provider here) have taken the Dream off their website too.
Seems like the dream is dead.
Apparently the Hero is coming soon to Australia too (carrier unknown) so android australia might pick up.

The G1 has been available for just over a year, even if it's dropped it will have had the same lifespan as every iPhone revision.
Original: June 29, 2007
3G: July 11, 2008

Yes the 3G is still available, but that's only because there isn't an 8GB 3G S...

almost every phone and every carrier is like that including the iphone, they are on the shelves for about a year then they are removed for the newer ones. if a Tmobile store had the same phones they did last year no one would have any reason to walk in the store except to pay their bill.

but ANYWAYS.. the g1 was just a prototype and used as a marketing device for android...
IMO i am starting to hate the g1 due to the lack of RAM...
i used taskpanel x to see how much free ram
g1: average 40-high 50s mb of RAM which is quickly used up for hero rom users
HTC still has the Dream on their US site. Rogers Canada still presses it and the Magic as 2 of their killer smartphones. The G1 isn't dead yet. Maybe to T-Mobile but the rest of the world still has faith. I completely believe it will be dead by next June (1 year after Rogers release) but it still has some life in it yet.
who cares if the G1 dies or not. the G1 was the rooting god and or savorer of this android community. it made the current roms, apks, themes and what not. it will never die, its just advanced to the current use and ideals of what the future holds. let them(who ever makes material of the consumers) make as many android devices as they want!! it would be great for a better product that can handle "OUR" speed and development. i personally still own a G1 and have my mytouch(now google ION) in hand and love them both as my babies. so i further state that if the production of G1 is dead then ok, I got mine. If not then eh, what more can you do to it that all the super dev's havent already??

It still says T-mobile on the front, and that doesn't go for UK Dreams, they don't say HTC on the side. HTC isn't an instantly recognizable name to average joe, unlike Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericcson ect, so if they see T-Mobile on the front they'll probably think they manufacture it.

They're also picking up in the UK, having the Diamond, Touch Pro, HD, HD2 and Hero released with "HTC" on them has helped.
The reason why they're not easily recognisable is because they've spent too long developing phones and let other companies (mostly network providers) rebrand them, o2 XDA's Orange SPVs T-Mobile MDAs etc etc.

Gingerbread won't be as big of a jump as some think. Honeycomb will be the big jump.

n1 is still highly used in alot of university tech demos and concept technologies... its basically a cheap small computer with alot of sensors
case in point, the n1 in rocket launching for accelerometer and sensor data, etc.
i would say its still holding its own very well.
i would also hope its the testbed for all future android iterations, because if it runs good on that phone, then it'll run AWESOME on our evo phones.

Why? They have the same CPU (well, we have the CDMA variation if you want to be exact), same GPU, and same amount of RAM. If anything the Nexus One will run better since their kernels are usually more optimized because they come from Google.
As for not being a big leap, I think UI wise it will be. Expect a newer, darker theme and more animations/effects. I think that it'll look like a mash up between Froyo, the newer voice actions pop ups, the ASOP 3d gallery app, the YouTube app, and Google TV. I also expect hardware acceleration for the UI to be introduced.
Speaking of hardware acceleration, I'm actually kind of worried about how the EVO will perform here. I had a low end Sprint Optimus S, Epic 4G, and my EVO 4G on hand today. I wanted to see how each performed when using the 3D Gallery app and the EVO was pretty choppy.
The Epic's GPU is obviously good so its no surprise that it had no problems. The Optimistic S has a past gen 600 MHz CPU and the same Adreno 200 GPU as the EVO (which really makes a statement: our GPU is in a $50 budget phones), the lower resolution also helps and it ended up running the app very smoothly. The higher resolution of the EVO and the Adreno 200 was as I said choppy. Simple things like popping up the menu were choppy and unattractive even when only 1 photo was in the gallery...
I really hope Google has something up their sleeves. I can't imagine them releasing a choppy UI on the Nexus One which is essentially the same as the EVO performance wise. At least I hope so.

The best thing that gingerbread will bring is VOIP using google voice number. If it works anything like the client thats part of gmail.com that would be cool.

Gingerbread will look nothing like that. That much I can guarantee.
If you've ever played with making themes you'd realize that it's probably trying to call a bunch of system graphics that currently do not exist in Froyo. That's why it's mostly solid colors.
No, No, No....It is not for the N1, it is for the N2! Well they might not call it the Nexus 2 but that is what it is.... Googles successor to the N1. Tmobile will have it and it will be released the 11th with gingerbread pre installed and it's a samsung with 1.2 snapdragon..(some rumors are the 8th)....Well that is the most popular rumor.. Google it. We only have 4 days to see if it is true. If it is, i will be all over it!! I've been waiting for a reason to go back to t-mobile. $79.99 a month unlimited (if you buy phone outright, no contract) and they have their 4g in my area now, sprint doesnt, and they charge a ton more than t-mobile.
a ton more? more yes, if you don't have 4G probably not worth it, but t-mobile is capping their data now

Not on their phones. They do on their portable hotspots.
Unlimited means unlimited, not capped. I had this plan a few months ago before the evo released, on my nexus. My girl got the nexus and opened an account w/ tmobile, got the same plan, 79.99 unlimited everything.
and yeah $40 more a month to sprint than i was paying T-Mobile is a ton more. I do understand that tmobile doesn't have the best coverage for some, so some tmobile is not a good option. but it is excellent where i am. I like the free built in wifi calling too, no need for a separate airwave device or whatever it is called.

Rumors are that it has been delayed -- that's if it even exists. It also might just be a near stock Android phone that is not directly supported by Google (like the G2) so it might come with Gingerbread but still attached to the same crappy Samsung software upgrading. And a 1.2 Snapdragon? They don't use Snapdragons, it's rumored to be a 1.2 GHz Hummingbird.
You can get a EPRP plan with sprint and pay $69.99 w/ the new data fee or pay $79.99 (also with the new data fee included) for the regular ED plan with yearly upgrades. With unlimited mobile to mobile it's pretty much unlimited all around and with the ED plan you get a new phone every year at a subsidized price. Not saying that T-Mo is bad but Sprint offers superior 3G coverage, competitive (at least in this stage - T-Mo's HSPA+ coverage is just upgrades to it's existing 3G network which will become a bottleneck as it's the worse of the big 4) "4G" coverage, and better value (cheaper on contract w/ yearly upgrades).
I also wouldn't be super surprised if there's a Sprint WiMax version of this Samsung phone. Samsung already makes a WiMax Galaxy S for Sprint (Epic 4G), and the rumored Nexus Two is basically a Galaxy S with a bumped up CPU and vanilla Android. The original Nexus One was also announced by Sprint before being axed to better push their flagship EVO 4G which was going to be released around the same time.

Sprint CEO Sidesteps Question About iPhone
We posed the question regarding Sprint and the iPhone a while back and reported on a Sprint announcement coming February 7th, wondering if this was going to be an announcement for the Sprint iPhone. Now it appears there is more information about this being reported than we expected and that rumor about Sprint getting the iPhone might have more life to it than first thought.
In an interview last week in Detroit, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse was asked about a Sprint iPhone as reported by AppleInsider. In the past, he has been very candid with the press and in this situation, he said he had no comment. He does not discuss conversations Sprint is having with 3rd parties. Does that mean they are in conversations with Apple to get the iPhone? That would seem logical based on several things.
Apple is facing a tidal wave of Android phones in the US and recently has been overshadowed by them in several different reports at the end of 2010. To stem that tide in 2011, Apple is going to have to do several things. The first is to increase distribution, which they have started on with the iPhone coming to Verizon and they are expected to increase their sales that way. The other thing they will need to do is make the iPhone 5 a 4G capable phone.
By having the iPhone 5 be a 4G phone, it opens up many other options for them. Most carriers in the US will have some form of a 4G network up by the end of 2011. Sprint is one of those US carriers who is moving in that direction. There is nothing to stop Apple from producing a chip which will allow the iPhone to function on multiple networks and therefore increase the potential number of companies who can sell the iPhone.
Sprint would be the next logic carrier in the US to sell the iPhone, being the 3rd largest carrier. Having a similar CDMA network to Verizon, makes it a much easier situation for Apple. The best case situation we can see is for Sprint to get the iPhone when the next version is released, which would be June at the earliest. We do expect to see more information about this surfacing in a few months as the iPhone 5 release comes closer. In the mean time, this is just a rumor and speculation.
source: http://www.techieinsider.com/news/5822
Why invite all the android news sources to that?
Plus, the only way it would be an "industry first" is if Apple withheld respective competing 4G technologies from other carriers.
don't care about the iphone. probably first wp7 4g or a 4.5" phone.
Just give us the EVO 2 with wimax 2 / lte support and call it a day please
Yeah iPhone is def not the announcement...
My guess is Android 3 + WiMax. Ultimately I expect the announcement to also not be all that. Probably a tablet.
there have been comments/rummors/speculations that all the changes on price and upgrades are in preparation for the coming iphone. That is why Verizon and Sprint have been making same moves/changes...
i dont see myself changing to an iphone.... to much I can not personally stand about apple.
I do know..
that if my prices and benefits have changed for the worse, because of the iphone!
that I will be getting less network throughput because of heavier demand...
we (the android) users have to pay for the iphone demands.
it will be a very very sad day... there will be a huge backlash from android / blackberry /webOS / win7 users.
Sprint is a terrible marketing machine. they will make this situation worse.
Feb 7 ... better be huge ...
fine they will annouce the iphone...
but they better throw out there a huge bone for other OS users. or they will see a huge migration too... TMobile.
I think I'm one the few that welcomes the iphone to sprint. Why? Well right now I'm on sprint with the EVO, and my wife is on at&t iphone because as she puts it "its so user friendly". If sprint gets the iphone, she can finally join me and save us a ton of money.
I'd welcome the iPhone to Sprint, don't see the problem with it.
It would be great to get the iPhone. It would put pressure on android phone makers to create better phones and generally up the overall quality of Android phones on the market. Its happening on AT&T now that the exclusivity has ended and we will begin to see it with everyone else who carries the iPhone.
Love competition in the marketplace.
How is iPhone introduction revolutionary, unique, never-been-done?

it isnt that the iphone might be coming to sprint.
it is the fact.. that sprint has to do all these changes to get the iphone.. to support the iphone..
sprint hads to jump through all these hoops and raise profit margin.. so that they can afford the extra cost to get the iphone. payback to apple... steve has to get his share.
mean while...
non-iphone / smartphone users... get taxed so that sprint can have the iphone.
tax = lost in upgrade yearly... every smartphone gets charged the $10 fee (not just 4G phones)... etc....
i am fine.. with these changes if it is .. inflatioin.. cost of doing business... cost of getting better services/speeds for my account!
if it for sprint to cover iphone cost!!!!! then it sucks!!!
Same boat here. Although my wife uses different excuses, I know ultimately it is because she does'nt want to give up the iPhone.

I LOVE my Evo, but I don't really see how having a Sprint iPhone is a bad idea. if Sprint is losing customers the way it's reported every quarter, having even more choice regarding devices is a great thing for a carrier and its customers.
meh i don't care if they get it or not. I REALLY hope thats not the announcement though..
I don't care if it's the iPhone. My wife would be happy but I'm just hoping we can get Wimax coverage in or near my area.
So I guess I'm hoping it's a wimax tablet or something and that they are pushing out more cities for wimax coverage
It's only speculations, Dan Jesse did not give a comment on anything useless tech story

Its funny how little people know about this stuff. Everyone saying its gonna be the iphone5 or even an iphone with 4g is plain clueless. Apple NEVER has a carrier do a release of a major product for them. Verizon did the iphone the other week bc all it is is an iphone4 with cdma chip instead of only gsm. Any and all hardware revisions like adding 4g and iphone5 will always be done at apples own event every year.
Now if this is an iphone4 same as verizon sprint is completely clueless as how to conduct themselves.
They may announce it but id expect more than that like wimax2 or announce lte/wimax plan bc its supposed to be something new no one else has.

I am speculating here....
I don't think we will see a preorder of Xoom this weekend and possibly not an actual release next week . The fact that no announcements have been made from Motorola on release is why I think this. If Motorola wanted to get people excited about this, they would have announced something today. That didn't happen.
I think that Motorola/Google/Verizon (yes Google too because this is the flagship tablet release for Honeycomb) are looking at pricing based on the overwhelming outrage at the $800 price point and are trying to do something to make this a huge launch in favor of Honeycomb. This can be many things. But I think the bottom line, $800 for launch will turn into a flop for the first Android approved tablet and that will not look good. The sales from the first real Android Tablet launch will be dismal at this price point. They may also decide to delay launch until the WiFi only tablets are available and/or a decent subsidized price is offered from Verizon.

Some solid points here. I would further speculate that we will see some sort of Mail in Rebate for 100$. I base this on the rumor that Costco will have the device for 100$ less. The HTC EVO, IIRC, had 200$ subsidy and a 100$ Mail in Rebate which some retailers applied automatically. Though as I say this, I think this won't work as this device, being uncontracted, has no incentives for an in-store instant rebate.
I have been waiting for this device for a while now, and would hate to see it pushed. Your speculation about waiting for a wifi only device could be a good thing though, and at the end of the day I am a team player so I would grit my teeth for that. But only till the end of the month

I am as anxious as you are trust me, but if you look at the overall picture from a general consumer point of view, $800, most people will walk on by and not even consider purchasing it. Add to that, a mandatory $35 activation fee plus minimum $20 one month data and on top of that, required to even get WiFi to work. With taxes, you will spend almost $900 without even buying an accessory. That is insane! And rumors that you cannot initially use the external microSD card slot for more storage without an update AND wait for a 4G upgrade, which we do not know if that is even OTA, wow, that is quite a bit to swallow.

We will see. But I can tell you that it will be a big flop at the current price point and needed additional costs for activating WiFi (mandatory $35 Verizon activation fee and $20 one month data). If that is true just to use it as a WiFi device, that would be one of the biggest greediest launches I have ever seen.
well the rumored preorder day is sunday which technically is next week. not much of a speculation by my book.
@keitht
Beside that Costco ad (which may be a Costco thing), there isn't anything out there from Verizon or Best Buy that states activation is required. The leaked best buy playbook from a few days ago didnt even say it was required.
The words were "If customer activates..."
Read the exact details of that Best Buy memo... it doesn't say its mandatory.
As for that leaked Best Buy ad from 10 days ago... that said "activative required" or something... plainly either a draft or hoax because of the spelling issues. On top of that, a self titled MOTO tester here on XDA said they skipped activation in testing and WiFI was fine.
I bet a beer that activation isn't required. Sorry, but I call bogus on this.
Anyhow, the price point worked for the iPad. That was $749 for the 32gb 3G and the Xoom is alot more advanced.
These are all optional words, not mandatory words...

True... we don't know the facts and that is why I am "speculating". Don't get me wrong here as I am in the crowd who has my money aside for this. I am speaking of the majority and from what I understand, the $750 iPad is not the big seller for Apple. $800 as the only option for the Xoom initially is not going to sell like hotcakes especially for an unproven device. And if there are any added costs, that will make matters worse.
arent you just paying for the xoom when you buy it? Isnt the activation fee and data plan charged to your verizon account? isnt that why you can cancel it within 72 hours because you arent actually charged the until after the 72 hours? i cant remember because its been awhile since i actually bought a phone from a store but i think thats how it goes. anyways i doubt its going to pushed back. moto is just being hush hush. Google doesnt need moto to sell alot just enough and then when more honeycomb tablets come out google gets more products out there. Im more suprised google hasnt released the sdk yet so devs can get ready to make apps in tablet form.
In addition, Apple made a big deal about the launch date for their device. Motorola has not officially announced anything about release. How will people get excited about this release when they do not know when to line up outside the store?

Still not feeling warm and fuzzy about the release of something new to compete with iPad at $800+. If $800 is the only option for the next couple months, we will see a lot of negative press for Honeycomb and I don't think that will be good for Google.
Imagine the headlines after 2 months... Only 100,000 Honeycomb tablets sold. Google's entry into the tablet market a complete failure.

the pressure will most likely be on moto for selling it that high. Google wont be taking any heat unless there are some big bugs in honeycomb. From what i have learned watching apple, they arent perfect they send patches just like any other company. i dont think moto expects to beat apple outright, they just want to take some of their share of the market. Yea releasing the $800 model by itself doesnt seem right but i doubt wifi xoom is far behind seeing as we saw it pass through the fcc. Its probably better just to watch and see what happens.

I disagree. Google worked very closely with Moto on this as the flagship Honeycomb God of tablets. Just like Nexus phone. You better believe Google is interested in making this a successful launch.

yea i worded that wrong as not taking any heat but the benefit for google is that they dont have to worry about putting all their money on one OEM. If moto doesnt sell many xooms, they can go back to samsung or lg who are next in line. Samsung is one of companies who sold as much or more android phones as moto. Also 3D is a big thing lately so that means LG could see success. There's also the other companies who make more budget-friendly tablets like viewsonic. Google will probably take a small hit if inital xoom sales arent what is expected but they will be far from out of the game. The community is excited about honeycomb so there will be a demand for it. As for the average consumer, they will get to demo the xoom and see if its for them.
At least they got a bunch of hot chicks to attend the Xoom party:

Well, the bestbuy.com/xoom page has been updated a little.. it used to say 'page requested not found'.. and now it finds a lengthy URL path, but nothing on the page. My guess is they will open the page when the stores open at 10am ET. Everything's a guess though. We'll see in 1 day and 30 minutes. Or at midnight tonight with an 'in-store only' note.

Sure don't. Especially if you factor in that even though the Vibrant is physically very similar to the original SGS, which the Herc is nothing like the other SGSII's, it takes internet smear campaigns to get updates. Forget Samsung; they forgot you minutes after you paid for your Vibrant.

HD 1280x720 resolution instead of normal 800x480
and features LGU+ along with standard LTE
LGU+ is a proprietary LTE by LG only in Korea http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LG_U+
Screen size sames as T-mobile/Sprint version 4.5"
Ill wait for it to show up on craigslist to get one but i doubt that at that point i will buy one with all these other phones around the corner like Vigor,Razar,Nexus Prime,Galaxy S2 HD And Amaze
Gonna wait for more ness on the Nexus Prime before deciding... $230 on new contact makes me think that it'll be over 400 with a 12 month subsidized upgrade... think my vibrant has a few more month in it since that's the case...
Also want to see which Devs pick one up...

SGS II HD has been officially announced in KOREA. Just wait a little bit more

I will never buy another samsung phone after they abandoned the vibrant. They could have at least given us gingerbread. My next phone will be HTC.

How do you feel a bout the $230 price tag? Other people seem don't like it.
I am kindda ok with it. But I will have to buy it without contract anyway.

TMO - $70/mo x 24 mo = $1680 over 2 years
--- TMO SGS2 $230
--- total over 2 years = $1910
Sprint -$80/mox24 mo = $1920 over 2 years.
--- Sprint SGS2 $200
--- total over 2 years = $2120
ATT - $85/mo x 24 mo = $2040
--- ATT SGS2 $200
--- total over 2 years = $2240
That's the REAL price you pay. Getting pissy over $30 differences between the subsidized phone pricing either means that the person complaining simply can't do math.
Not even for $99.
No more crap from T-mobile. I have the vibrant and I forgot the last time T-mobile released an update. Gingerbread has been out for almost a year and I'm stuck @ 2.2.1
I'm willing to pay full price for the upcoming Nexus Prime. @ least I know that I get what I paid for (updates)

according to this article it does have super amoled plus display
http://androidspin.com/2011/09/26/t-mobile-drops-official-galaxy-s-ii-info-sheet/
"We already knew about the 4.52″ Super AMOLED Plus display at a resolution of 480 X 800. Size wise you are looking at 5.1″ X 2.7″ X .37″ and only weighing in at 4.77 ounces. The device has 16GB of internal storage and support for a 32GB micro SD card."

Since I use GPS a lot and also own Vibrant, I don't know if I will put trust in Samsung again. If I have to make the decision today, I would pick HTC Sensation 4G.
