Help with debranding HK x10i with new SEUS - XPERIA X10 General

Hello, I'm trying to debrand my HK x10i via SEUS. I get to the step where i navigate to the program files and DB folder after i run SEUS but the 100mb and 15 mb files are not there. I'm a noob so can anyone help me with this problem?
Also, do i have to use the HK generic firmware? or can i use the Nordic unbranded firmwares to get 23?
plz help sorry for the stupid question. I searched and i didnt understand any of it.

Please following new de-brand steps from web link, ww.xperiax10.net/2010/04/14/debrand-your-xperia-x10-tutorial/
It has Hongkong generic R1FA014 files there. Do the steps again to get latest firmware if it is available for Hongkong.
If you want 23, Nordic generic is also there.

I might be wrong, but I'm not sure that method works any more as I too had the same issues, that the files weren't there, and I'm sure I read something the other day when I was trying to do mine that it no longer works, which is how I ended up coming here and using this method - Newbies Guide to Rooting X10 and giving you the newest firmware!

Vodafone generic files

Hey guys, I don't s'pose someone who's debranded from vodafone would be kind enough to upload there backup copy of the replaced files?! My computer was kind enough to delete my back ups >_<
Any help would be great
Which? UK? Germany? Netherlands? They are different...
My apologies, should have said. I'm after the UK Vodafone generic files.

Yes.
SE PC Suite doesn't work with the X10. Sony Ericsson PC Companion 2.0 does though.
You are able to back your messages up to a SD card and sync your contacts to google. However, i am not sure about the application side of things.

Uhm i'm not quite sure what that has to do with the generic files i'm after. Just so that if need ever arise i can re-brand the phone.
I have a copy of the Vodafone UK firmware files.
Let me know if these are ones you need?
Yes they are and i would be very grateful for them :-D

[CONFIRMED] --> *** X10A users: Android 2.1 Update works for X10a ***

We are all waiting for our country/operator specific update now that the Android 2.1 update has been officialy released for Nordic countries.
The aim of this thread is to exchange experiences and share news
for those of us who got the X10a hardware version
(850/1900MHz bands for some Australia, North America and Latin America operators)
If somebody with an X10a has already updated, please share if you got it straight from SEUS/PC Companion or by changing to a Nordic 1.6 first, and then updated to Nordic Android 2.1
A "Yes I just got 2.1" is now what we expect:
Please share as much info as possible
(method used to update, tested radio 3G connectivity, locale, operator/carrier, language, etc)
Let the fun begin
[EDIT NOV 04, 2010]
NAM 3G bands: CONFIRMED WORKING
Overwhelming feedback confirms both currently released Android 2.1 firmwares (Nordic and Global) DO WORK for the X10a.
jerpelea suggests Sony Ericcson may have unified the bands because the X10i firmware works on the X10a, 3G and all.
ENGLISH, SPANISH, PORTUGUES languages: CONFIRMED PRESENT
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824935
Released firmwares tested to date by xda-devs users:
- Nordic region Android 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Global international Andoird 2.1 --> reported OK from many X10a users
- Notice: some users (espcially Rogers Canada) are reporting problems with 3G speeds (check next pages of this thread)
Where to obtain instructions and the Android 2.1 update firmware:
- 2.1 firmware "Nordic" and flasher by Bin4ry: (this is the one I used, a nice tutorial by user gfgodoy at post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
- 2.1 firmware "Global" and flasher by jerpelea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
- 2.1 firmware "Gobal" and flasher by MarylandCookie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
TIPS:
- Charge your phone, at least 50% prior to updating the firmware
- Extract the flashing tool into a folder in your root directory ("C:\")
- Make sure you put the firmware files into it ("C:\X10Flash-2.1\firmware")
- Make sure you have "SEUS" or "PC Companion" installed and you have connected your phone at least once (for it to install the USB drivers)
- For problems ("unable to open channel", "Exception in *** java", etc) plase check this nice thread by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115
THE UPGRADE IS REVERSIBLE:
- If you test Android 2.1 and for some reason want to go back to Android 1.6 please check this thread by SaintyUK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824782
.
nobody yet ??
2.1 for x10a can be found in Dev thread. I'd do it but at work blah. Another 9 hours till home
Well, I will wait until TELCEL or Sony Ericsson México says something about the date of the release of the 2.1 update, if they don't say nothing or the date is about a month or later, I will use other methods...
could you please link ??
I can't seem to find a successful attempt
and all of our efforts are fragmentated into many threads
I just installed the X10i 2.1 on my x10a and rooted. It works fine except it occasionally loses 3g connectivity and steps down to the 'H' (I don't know what H means). But even in 'H' data works.
The big difference I noticed was the different apps loaded faster. But overall the system is still sluggish and bringing up the app menu is choppier than before. All the Sony stuff like Dialer, Mediscape, timescape are still choppy.
So I guess you will expect this on the x10a roms too.

Yep it worked flawlessly. The Market that shows up for me is the Canadian one and it even gave me the option to run using English (Canada). So I guess that stuff does not depend on the rom.
You just have to make sure everything you need to flash is installed and running. Most people have problems with java but there is a link in there that tells you how to fix it.
Then I used this to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788
Information for default.prop & build.prop
I remember seeing information about changing the Build descriptors on both of theses files - Where you cahnge the values:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
Mine is running Generic LAM - 1227-4607
What is the build.prop number for Generic North America - Generic NAM???
Thanks for sharing experiences
Will go for it myself and update the front post when double-checked
I'm interested in how it works as well. I own an X10a, but I live in Europe, so I'm wondering if it would matter anyway. The smartest move would probably be to wait, but if it's going to be a matter of weeks instead of days, I may jump on the X10i update methods.
I have debranded X10a and rooted 1.6. I read your tutorial on forum. Just a question is this for X10a? Would my phone change to X10a or x10i? Is there any chance to brick the phone? Does it removes all the apps? And my root? Please let me know thanks

It works great for my X10a from Brazil.
Thanks everyone that made this possible.
Can't wait to give it a shot. Off work in 4 and a half hours and it could come soon enough!! LOL
Does this firmware includes SPANISH language????
Just want to mention that I too have updated my X10a using the methods described above (just follow the directions in post #3 of the 2.1 flashing thread).
I have tested, and root worked (have already restored many of my apps via Titanium and am posting this on my laptop tethered via Barnacle). Market works too, and appears to be displaying the Canadian market for me properly.
Thanks for the info everyone.

xperia x10a Update 2.1!

Guys i recived a tweet from SE Chile, well at least SE LAM saying the firmware was ready to update from all xperia x10a unbranded, now i need to know , if the 026 generic for x10a will update inmediatlly or i'll have to modify the build.prop with some numbers, in the moment i get 2.1 will decrypt the rom , and upload it... so if you can help me a little would be apriciated.
Regards
Have you tried SEUS and see if an update is available?
Hope we have a decrypted X10a ROM soon.
trying now, i almost brick my phone downgrading, you all guys should downgrade to a x10i version, i got that by using the 026 LAM , and almost get stuck :S
well bricked again T_T... i think its because when i use the new flash tool, it try to load the kernel but skip it, in the old firmwares never had a kernel.sin
any ideas?
You need to flash to 1.6 using the old flash tool. The new one isn't capable of flashing back to 1.6 as there was some changes that had to be made to make it work with 2.1 that made it incompatible with 1.6 for the moment.
Cheers, Brett
yep, thanks, i thought that so, i already started to flash again with an old flashtool , we'll see what happend
It's supose that the actualization is via PC companion, well i can't even make it rapair my phone..., beside that it keeps teling me that i have the lastest software, but in SE say that they release it... now, when the nordic firmware came up, they modified the build.prop with some especific numbers, if some one knows about that, could tell how to get the rights numbers... or were did they get them before the actualization?
Regards...

I am running the GLOBAL 2.1 ROM. If anyone wants to go to this Generic Brazil X10a, just use the default.prop method to change to 1234-4836.

no TIM logo, it shows SE logo. So it could be Generic LAM FW, but in the customer-region list says 1234-4836 is a TIM. i'm not sure but it's not important

[q] help please!!!!

hi everybody I have tried to root my xperia x8 because i wanted to update the android version to 2.1 , i downloaded the superoneclick 1.5.1 and i did all the steps i've read here but at the end it says "FAILED the device was not rooted" and in my phone it appears the superuser aplication but i can't access to the root explorer because this message appears:"Root explorer has not yet managed to obtain root access.Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on."
I have no idea of what is happening , i did all the steps:i put my phone in debug mode , then connect the phone and click "root" and it is still not rooted :S
If someone can help i would be very happy , i'm about to become crazy :S
HI
If you have android v1.5 Donut and you want to upgrade too android 2.1 just install PC Companion (Sony Ericson software that you get with the phone in the box) and let the aplication search for any update of firmware for X8.
actually i have 1.6 version i've tried to update it with pc companion but it says that it has the latest version....
Where do You live?
You have tried to update your phone via PC companion?
PC companion>Support zone>start> ... And it says that u have latest software?
Check phone status do You really have 1.6?
I live in Peru
yes i've tried that and i still have the firmware version in 1.6
help me please
You don't need to root your android to do the upgrade.. xD just upgrade with sony ericsson update service, and after that you can root your phone normally using 2.1 firmware..
Although, you need to substituite a file in superoneclick: "thecage.." to "neuter" but rename to the original.. (sorry if i can't explain well, but i'm portuguese and i'm 16.. xD) search on the forum or wait so i can post the zip file already working, because i don't have it on my phone..

He's in peru and it might not be updated there. There's no such thing as world availablity for sony-ericsson - it's different all over.
My best guess for you would be to use the flash from this thread:

There's at least 3 links to it, not sure if the torrent is still working.
It's set as russian CDA number, but you can change that - look on x8 forums for way to change CDA (don't have time to help with that just now )
also LuisDias, as he's from peru he might be able to understand some of your portoguese

You can flash with E15i firmware and then flash X8a baseband that you can find in thread in my signature bellow
...maybe there is a way to update with pc companion like he is in Europe...
And I read about updating from other country on development section.
Easy way it's changing the SI number so it solves it like a workaround, still i'm not sure if it provides his language (i think it does) after that he can even install froyo or ginger eh
There are lot's of tutorials with infos to do it right in dev section, check them out.
well... actually i have the flash tool and i found this firmware "X8 Shakira E15i_2.1.1.A.0.6_generic.ftf" but my xperia has the e15a version if flash it with this firmware what would happen?
you should get android 2.1.... and to your root issues you should set usb on debugging mode and you mustn´t mount sd card just set charge phone instead.
so no matter if mi xperia is e15a and the firmware i would use in the flash tool is e15i

1. loader.sin (in a tutorial I read dont include this)
2. simlock.ta (many says dont include this too)
