Hey, I do not think you have tried tomtom before on other systems, do you?
Anyway, I used tomtom on S60, Palm OS, WinCE4.0(PNA) and WM(PDA)...
All the versions work through the same way. Try to put map folder to your SD card ROOT directory... You do not need to do something to point the tomtom to the map... Acturally it will link the program to its map automatically. Do not worry about that.
Hint, if it says "not enough memory" again, simply use a card reader and do that on your computer.
For the tutoral, try GOOGLE "gpsunderground", as I am not permitted to put external link here...
Hope that helps...

If you have purchased the software and maps, installation is easy. If you have not paid for the software - well, I hope you find it impossible to install...

Tom tom 5 - no maps found?

my friend has lent me his TomTom 5 to try as my girlfriend travels a lot on business and she wants to give it a try before we buy it. When we try and install it to her XDA2i, the install goes great and the Today screen bar appears. The program launches and allows us to pick a voice and the units odf measurement etc but then says "No Maps Found" even though the map is installed?
Anyone had a similar problem?
hello
I found this problem too! I found that by re-installing the whole lot it solved this for a while though to combate this the best way is to install it all in one place ie the SD card.
When using the XDA IIi you may find it crashes while driving this can be solved by placing the phone into flight mode.
There is another way to direct tomtom but you should search for that as it is on here somewhere.
The postcode section file named zip should be placed in "my documents"
I tried it on mine also - no luck. then i realised i was an idiot. Id copied the files accross intoa folder called TT5 and therefore tomtom couldnt see the map. copied the map to root and it works now

TT5 won't run with maps installed

Help,!
Have installed TT5 onto Qtek9100 and prior to installing map it starts up, you get the licence agreement then it says no map.Once map is installed, you get agreement screen again but when you hit agree, it sticks on the agreement page and doesn't go any further. Likewise, if you start it without memory card it gets to the page stating no maps, reinstall card, select download a map then cancel, it sees Great Britain map ok. But when you click on the map it then sticks there. You can escape from the app and kill app ,so it doesn't crash handset. Tried Card in my SPVM1000 (with Mini SD adapter) and maps work fine.
Anybody any ideas??
use the forum search and read the answers about currentmap.dat
I was suffering with the similar problem, TT5 seems working but extremely slow, then stuck with the map.......................................................
I hard reset the handset, and install TT5 again without using autorun but the cab files directly, n it works fine now...
Thanks for your help guys, found the thread relating to currentmap.dat and it sorted it.
thanks again

TomTom 5.21 on XDA EXEC

This might be the least of some people problems, buth has anyone got the 7 digit postcodes to work yet on Tom Tom5.21? Was fine on XDA2. I tried copying files to various zip directories as described on the TomTom web site but to no avail.
Geoff
Do you have an empty folder on your Storage card called "Tomtom". If not add one and try again.

Yes works fine on my k jam, o2 exec, mda vario. Out of interest is yours a proper version?
TT 5.21
I bought TT5 with Western Europe maps. I wanted to run that with a GlobalSat BT338 receiver. Installation was a nightmare but I finally managed. When I got to activating maps it failed even though I obtained an activation code. Got in touch with TT support. After a few email exchanges I received a note that my order had been cancelled. However, they had charged my credit card for over 200 euros!!!
No more contact from them since then and I am stuck with a non-functional product!! I might sue.
Have since got OCN5. Installlation worked like a charm. Including map activation all was done in less than an hour. Navigation works perfectly!
Way to go OnCourse!!
Conclusion: If you are planning to get TT5.21 for your QTEK9000/I-mat etc. my recommenation is DO NOT!!!
Sorry for the rant.
GREAT FORUM!
TomTom 5.21 on XDA EXEC postcode problem
I have a legit copy of TomTom. I have tried creating various directories both full and empty on the device and on the storage card, but it still refuses to recognize 7 digit postcodes. If TomTom support get back to me with a fix that works I'll post it here.
Geoff
don't know what you guys are doing but 5.21 works fine on my xda exec.... I was even more chufed to find that the some key on te keyboard can act as shortcuts ... like pressing "c" switches between day mode an night mode etc.
I done nothing special... just took my sd card from my old ipaq 4700 that already had the maps etc. put it in de xda and instaled 5.21 straight on (Instaled to card memory)... the only draw back was that it would not stick to the voices folder in the sd since I had to select a voice every time tomtom was turned on (tomtom would see the voices on the sd but would not memorize the one I chose on the next startup).... this I fixed by downloading a voice straight from within tomtom.
br
Literally got this working myself today!
The fix on the tomtom website says to copy the zip folder containing the post code file to main memory and it will work - well I created a folder called 'zip' on my sdcard and copied the postal code file to that, then also created an empty folder on my sdcard called 'TomTom' - it worked perfectly then!
Stange my legit copies all work and guess what so does my duff copy never had to do anything just install and away.
The official reply from TomTom support is the XDA Exec is NOT compatible although they are working on it. Did everything to try to get 7 digit postcodes to work, but to no avail. Everything else within TomTom is working fine so it's not critical. Now, how do you make your own voice files??!!
Geoff
Geoff, Exactly where are you trying to enter the postcode? - this might seem a stupid question, but if you are putting the postcode into the Navigate to address screen you won't get 7 digit, you need to tap the rh arrow go to the next page and select enter postcode, then if the empty tomtom folder and the zip folder (containing the GB post code file) are all in place it should work. For some voices etc. have a look at www.tomtomsatnav.info there is useful stuff utilities/ voices/ warnings etc. - Mike
Working fine on my Exec. You need the postcode data in a folder called 'zip' in the root of the storage card and another empty folder entitled 'TomTom' in the storage card root.

TomTom - I give in!

Hi all - great forum. Hoping to be around for good while soaking it all up.
I'm a new owner of an SPVM5000. Loving it with Opera and running it on WiFi with Terminal Services.
Proper happy with it - but, I want to get TomTom working on it.
I've downloaded all manner of pirate copies/maps etc, simply because I don't know if it works and wanted to try it first - and more specifically, know which version to buy..
I mean, once I know what works, I'll go and buy the thing from somewhere but, as yet, I can't get it working. Am I missing something glaringly obvious? I keep getting a "No Maps Found" error.
Anyway, Google tells me this is doable and I'm not looking for piracy tips, just a nod as to what version will work and perhaps the cheapest place to get it from if there's anywhere else than TomTom's naff site.
Ideally, I'd love to chuck some credit card details somewhere and get a legit download for it that I can put onto the SD card and away we go, but I think I might be pushing it - it's all boxed goods I think?
Any help for one of your older members, I'd be very grateful.
Cheers!
Hello there,
I have Navigator version 6 running very successfully on my SPVM5000.
A couple of things to check.
1. Is your memory card inserted? tomtom needs this, as the maps will be stored on it.
2. The maps are stored in a folder on the root level of the storage card.
The name of the folder depends on what geographical version you have.
Being in the UK my folder is Western_Europe. Inside the folder you are looking for 3 files. cline.dat, cname.dat and cnode.dat. They are the map files. If they are not there you have been given no maps!!
Hope this helps.
Hi - thanks for the reply.
I've followed the guide on here to change the registry for the GPS options and now if you say TT6 works, I can go with that. I had read TT5 is quicker so that's an option too I guess.
Yeah, the maps have the filenames you mention there and they were on the root of the storage card in a folder named Great-Britain-Map
Cheers.
mail me with details, i have the instructions for spv m5000 installation of tomtom
Thanks - I'm up and running now.
Do you still need a GPS BT Reciever with the Universal? Or does it have built in GPS?
I am new to PDA's and all this malarky.,.,
GPS receiver needed mate.

HTC Diamond - TomTom Maps

Hi Everyone,
I have used the search function and haven't come across this yet.
When i install my tom tom software, it installs fine. Yet it installs onto the phone not the 4GB Storage.
Now this came up somewhere else and they said to fill it up and it will ask you to install it on another storage device.
Now this didn't come up I have also tried the other methods of trying to get it so the installation installs onto the phone and copy the files to internal storage and change the location of the icon. (Which I couldn't do). - just wouldn't let me im not retarded
Now my question is this.
I Have my Australia Maps: Australia.815.2086
And Tom Tom: I Have Version 7, not sure exact version number.
Now I cannot get the maps to install on this as it needs 100mb for these maps. As there isn't enough internal storage this cannot be done.
So If anyone could shed some light on this would be good.
If i don't answer here if you are after certain information my email is:
[email protected]
Cheers!

Put the maps on the storage card. The actual navigator app can go on either. Some TomTom cabs that are floating about will only install to main memory... others will give you the option.

Tried this just then with no luck just tells me that there is no maps.
Should my maps be a .cab file ?
**BUMP**
Sorry to bump this but i really would like help
If the maps installed on the internal storage and the program wont see it, your best bet would be contacting tomtom, if you have updated your phones system software and moved to a COOKED ROM then the original phones id number would have changed, when the maps are registered the id is used as part of the key hence the key changing the registered status is also changed from working to non working.
Now tomtom may be nice and give you a new registration for the device or they may say not going to happen. If the program and maps are from some other source like say Pirate Bay then you wont get any help from this forum as its very much frowned upon and posts get deleted that even try to hint at them kind of illegal shenanigans.
Hope you get your self sorted.
Regards
Nom
your maps should be a directory, not a .cab file
it has to be copied to the root of the internal storage.

Another common problem is that your map folder is actually two folders deep.
i.e. maps/maps rather than only maps.

hi.
the best option is to install tomtom to your storage card, by doing this the software defaults to the storage card for the map info.
my tomtom version cannot be installed to the storage, even though tomtom home placed the cabs there. it doesnt even ask.
the map can be on the storage, tomtom home copies it there when you select that when starting tomtom home (i can choose between internal mem and 4gb mem as target).
when tomtom is installed in your internal memory, you can move the files to the 4gb storage, and launch it from there without problems.
