I just installed, uninstalled HSPL and reflashed stock
On stock should my device be showing
Total storage 688.48 MB
Used 75.26
Free Storage 613.MB
I want to be sure, because I am not sure if I was suppose to be seeing 1GB knowing that this is the T-mobile version...
please help
The total storage size is/was always less than the flash size specified. It is normal to show 6xx Mb total storage. Same as the case with Euro HD2 which shows 2xxMb total storage although it have 512Mb flash size.
I think the balance for radio, SPL, Splash, etc.
ok thank you very much thought i did something wrong

Hi , i just got a new XDA IIi , but it has only 64MB Flash size, the new one was supoused to have 128MB flash ,I saw it on the O 2 web site, then why my device is only showing half of it?

Help me please i am very confused
sincerely:
Jorge
Xda IIi
There is nothing to fix Bro. Please refer to screenshot.
The Xda series have always needed tweaking and modifying so the performance and stability depends on the owners' effort.
It sucks but hey, we are still buying them anyway.
i mentioned this in another thread, but does it make sense that because it says there is 59.68MB free in the flash storage, the rest of the rom is stored in the other 70MB odd that is missing to make up the 128mb? i would assume the whole rom installed saved in just 6mb to make up 64mb if you get what i mean?
eg
the total flash size is 128 mb or 64mb
the available flash space (storage) is 59.68mb
this leaves about 70mb (128 - 59.68) for the rom if the total flash size is 128,
or leaves about 5mb (64 - 59.68) for the rom if the total flash size is 64mb.
and i just cant imagine the whole rom fitting on to only 5mb..
i jsut checked my friend's mini, which definitely has 64mb of flash, and his storage free is only 7mb, so his rom is about 57mb, which confirms my theory (assuming i'm right about rom and storage size adding up to give the total flash memory size)
Dear All
Please excuse me if my questions look silly:
I bouth a Wizard and read it has 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM total 192MB
The manual also confirmed this.
At startup, evening after hard reset and pressing soft reset within 3 secs, I have:
Storage 47MB Program: 44 MB
Total 91 MB
Where are the remaining 100 MB?
Thanks

128MB of TOTAL ROM = 64MB for OS/ROM (not available for user) + 64MB for file storage that is available for user
64MB of RAM = Used like RAM on a PC, Windows Mobile has to load itself into RAM in order to run so that's why you'll never have 64MB free.
In any case, what you are seeing is correct
Thanks a lot
Is there any way to oncrease the total availble memory?
There are several programs I never used, in the original package, such as
- file explorer
- pictures and video
- modem links
- sim manager
- terminal services
- power point mobile
- zip
- power excel
I would love to re-install a streamline version of the OS and have back 110 or 120 MB free usable memory!
Thanks
Saulo
nope, there's no way at this moment

So does this imply that little is gained by installing to the external storage card? I've seen both opinions on this.
if i use a memory card to store my songs and videos etc can i use botht the storage memory and program memory for the device itself. e.g. ringtones that have to be placed in the windows/rings folder and alarm and message tones which have to be in the /windows/ folder?
Dear All
Does anyone know how to free more memory?
Is there some special page on wiki (I cannot find) that explain how to tweak?
Or alternatively, is there a way to increase internal memory to 256MB.
At the moment, since most of my apps does not work on mini-SD, I need to increase internal memory
Thanks and waiting for any suggestions

Not a big deal and more a newbee question than a real problem, but i want to know it in the end.
In my Setting in the memory submenu my device only shows up 56.34 Mb of Total Storage and 49.08 of Total Program Memory. Does this depence on the ROM and will never show the amoung of the hole available memory like 128 and 64 MB?
THX
Please go here:

And read "How is memory allocation done in Hermes?"
Thanks pof.
btw. great thing with this bootloader 1.01!
How come some people got a total storage size of 201-202 mb, while others got only 180-181?... just wondering...
It's only 20mb difference, but these 20mb will allow me to install 5-6 more programs onto the device...

Different ROMs have different storage sizes.
For example,
1.48 Asia ROM have 10mb(Total 192mb) more than the 1.48 WWE European ROM.
10x for the explanation!

you have yo install it....did you install hspl? (have you used a custom rom before? what does it say in bootloader?)
On my device I have 208 MB storage available. To see how the remaining storage memory is used, I have developed a small tool "PartInfo".
PartInfo lists all storage devices, mounted, non mounted and hidden partitions.
However, ResInfo is a resource monitoring tool for everyday usage. It can also indicate your biggest files in storage.
