Are there any setting or apps available that will default the buttons on the headphone remote to a specific application?
I keep having an issue where the "Listen" podcasting application takes over from the default music application meaning I need to revert to using the on screen controls. Killing the "Listen" app has no effect as clicking play again just restarts the app. This effect kicks in seemingly randomly while listening to music.
Try going to settings->applications->manage applications and tap on the Listen app and clear defaults

Does anyone else have the issue of twidroyd (and twidroid) pro playing the entire notification tone even after you select the icon and/or cleared it?
Will I just have to select a simple tone? I'm using ringo for the tone selection

I noticed this as well. At first I wasn't sure what it was. I would have my EVO in my pocket and all of a sudden music would start playing and I couldn't get it to stop without restarting my phone. Turns out Twidroyd had chosen one of my songs as its notification tone and every time I had a new mention, it would play the WHOLE song.
been playing with the nfc tectile...
I want to set it up for the car...
1. run on bluetooth, set ringer and media vol. to max and brightness to auto.
i can do this ok
2. launch the audible app.. i can also do this
But there does not seem to be a way to do both.. the tectile app writes to the sticker are not cumulative.. it is either one or the other.. anyone have any thoughts or a better app so i can do both.. thanks
i think you need to use two tectiles. 1 to change settings and the other to launch aps.
to answer my own question:
nfc task launcher app in the market works for this.. can combine stuff. even has toggle. so first time it sets all the stuff for the car .. next turns them off for home..
was worried i would have to run the app but you don't has some background service that works.
only 1.99 works well..
My Jabra headset activates VD rather than Google Now's more advanced search when held down. How can I change this default?
Thanks!
You are using cm 10.1 I'm guessing since that comes with voicedialer by default. Go into settings then apps and find voice dial under ALL and just disable it. It should default to Google now then. Either that or do what I do and delete it from the zip before I flash

Interesting: I now get a different, newer voice dialer, but still a VD. Iit got a long googlebar across the top and reads "Voice Search" in the center of a full screen with the directive: Say Call and say someone's name. Which app is this launching from?
I found an app that almost works on a non-rooted phone called Bluetooth Launch. The program has not been updated in quite some time. It is a simple program with two parts, one screen to select the activity to be assigned and a second screen to pick which button to assign, for example one long press. When I run the app I am not able to bring up the menu to select which button to assign the activity to. I am able to reassign the default button to the app and I have it calling Google Search...voicesearchactivity. It will for the most part bring up Google Now. However, sometimes it fails to do anything and sometimes it brings up GN but with the mic turned off. At the moment the headset is used to stream and answer calls. The voice dialer is painfully slow, so gets little use. Google Now and a BT headset would be a good fit, odd that there is no support.
Disable Google Search default launch

Works well, but you have to know to go into app settings, and disable the default activity for Google Search. Otherwise Bluetooth Launch never gets a chance.
Just wrote a simple app to do this. I describe it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/bt-activate-google-voice-dialer-t3012622
As the title says, I'm having this issue where when I play music from an application, I expect the player to pop up both on the notification dropdown and lock screen, but they appear on neither. This happens on both Google Play and PowerAmp, so I can imagine that other apps would have this issue. I traded in my other S7 Edge, as it had another audio-related issue, and I know it had this feature, but this new one does not. Is there any way I can enable it? It's a pain having to go back into the app every time just to pause it, as I like to close my apps when I'm done with them. The music still persists even after I close the app itself. I've also tried restarting. Any ideas?
All feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Mine shows up in both spots using the Samsung Music player. Confirmed working with Poweramp too on both notification tray and lock screen.

I would think that it works with nearly everyone else. I was asking why it wouldn't work for myself.
I had the same issue. Look at your notifications, when I turned it on for music player, it now shows up.
It only works with the Samsung music app. Other apps will play music but no pulldown. So u can play music but if you leave the app u will need to make a couple clicks to skip or pause a track. Sucks.
They're basically forcing their app on u. Luckily for them it's not half bad
One year later, when now I just saw this post,,,,,, The same thing may seem to appear in the new Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro, that the music player with music being played does not show up in the Notification Panel & Lock Screen. However, thanks for csjg3525 above whose post about S7 inspired me to look into something similar in Galaxy C7 Pro. It works not only for the Samsung music app! There's a trick:
Open "Settings" > Choose "Notifications" > Select "Google Play Music" AND then also go to the "Advanced" button at the top right hand corner on the same page > Click into "Google Play Music" > Click to "Allow notifications" and then two more options appear to let you choose - I selected "Set as priority" & "Previews in pop-ups", then all I wanted did show finally.
When you see only the name of the song being played on the lock screen, don't be disappointed. You just double-click the song name and then the 3 symbols of backward, pause & forward (next song) will appear for your control.
Hope the above helps for Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro users.

Essential phone> On selecting an audio track it immediately launches with default audio player. Selecting 'open with' does give you the option of choosing a different player BUT only for that instance you cannot set it as default. Questions, how can I select an audio player permanently and how can I disable 'default audio player'?

Try to disable and deactivate the stock music player app through the app list..maybe it will play the tracks with the other music app by default..
