Cannot call in/out with Full signal - Touch HD General

I am in USA using AT&T with my HD. I could see full signal bar but I cannot make a call nor receive a call. Also, I cannot get data connection as well. But when I travel to HongKong, my phone works fine and also works great in China. It should bot be any hardware problem. Please help to solve this. Thanks~
Here are some info for my phone:
Radio 1.17.25.09
OS version 5.2.23569
Protocol Version 52.69.25.37U

Does your Trinity/Dopod drop calls regularly?

My Dopod D810 from 3 drops calls regularly.
I think every single call will drop out after about 1-2 minutes. I also notice that when my phone is 'warm' from charging or other uses, the call can drop as quickly as 10 seconds into the call.
Initially it was suggested that the drop outs were due to my Phone > Band selection being set to 'Auto' but I have since changed this to Network Type=WCDMA and GSM/UMTS band=UMTS(2100+800).
But now I'm more inclined to think it has something to do with the device's temperature....
Any other ideas other than taking it back to 3?
Try changing the Radio ROM.
I had a similar problem after changing my Radio ROM from 1.41.00.11 to 1.46.00.11. Now I`m using 1.46.30.11 version and everything is OK. I even noticed a GPS signal level improvement.
I have the similar problem too. I m with 3 Australia. Upgraded to WM6 official ROM, still observing if call drop still happened.
If not, will take back for warranty repair
I am using a HTC-branded P3600 with the official HTC GPS-enabled WM5 ROM on the Vodafone UK network. With reasonable approximation I can say that I have 0 dropped calls (including calls made or received while in car).
My network type and band selections are both "auto".
Sometimes I make calls while the phone is charging via USB from a laptop (which makes it rather warm) but I haven't noticed any dropped calls in that situation either.

Excellent idea. I'm currently using Radio version: 1.35.00.11...if I go to 1.4x - are these compatible with WM5?

I`m using a WM5 LVSW edition. Used it with 1.41.00.11 for 3 months without problems, changed to 1.46.00.11 for 2 days and encountered call drop issue, changed to 1.46.30.11 and not even a problem so far.
I am using my trinity with 1.41 and WM6 (AX3L) and I really never drop a call unless I step into an elevator. I am usually on UMTS or HSDPA living here in NYC and cannot complain about my service nor the phone.

Thanks for all the replies. Went ahead and upgraded ROM and Radio version to 3.00.707.16 and 1.46.30.11, respectively.
So far, no problems with call dropouts but I haven't made many long calls on it over the last 2 days but will keep assessing.
On the previous incarnation, I had also installed/uninstalled a LOT of programs over the 6 weeks I had had the phone so perhaps that contributed to the phone's instability too...
For me, it kinda worked the other way around...
I never experienced any call droppouts when I still had the original WM5 ROM with radio version 1.33.30.10 on my Dopod D810. (I'm with 3 in Australia)
After upgrading to the ANZ WM6 ROM with radio version 1.46.30.11, I can sometimes not even establish a connection as the call is dropped after the first ring or so. The other day I had to make a call 5 or 6 time to finish the conversation...
Is anybody else having similar issues AFTER upgrading?
Hi guys,
good to see that i'm not the only one that have call drop regularly.
Well, in fact, those are not always call drops.
Sometimes i miss calls and some other times, when i want to make a call, i see that my trinity's loosing the signal and starts to search for networks. Then i have to switch off the phone through the Connection Manager, then turn it on again so that i can make phone calls.
Are you experiencing the same on your device?
I'm still using Radio ROM 1.38.00.11
Do you guys have a link where to download the latest Radio ROM so that i can try it on my Trinity?
Thanks.

Yep, I experience drops after upgrading... But the strange thing is... even after downgrading to the shipped rom... still drops... ARRGHHHHHH
I'm just going to try another rom I think... not sure yet. Have switched my band from auto to fixed. First gonna see what happens.
Some said it is due to 3G/3.5G trying to establish a data connection (most likely for push mail) and in doing so the phone function is disabled. I did not verify this claim.
If anyone wants to test it, you might want to try:
1. disabling 3G and 3.5G
2. disabling data connection
and tell us the results!

I will disable HSDPA. But I cannot disable my data connection because that's THE reason I bought my device for (using it for pushmail but I can use that with UMTS/GPRS connection also, don't need HSDPA for it).
I have found if I have network on AUTO i cant make calls, phone call drops straight away.
Switching to GSM allows me to make calls, but then I have no 3G
Found that radio rom 1.46.00.11 has no calls dropping for me. So I'm gonna stick with that one.
Cheers.

I have this ROM actually installed in my Trinity, and i still have call drops regularly
Once more today, it started to ring, then lost signal.
I'm wondering how much people has the same issue.
I used to have the same problem. I've reflashed my phone so many times coz of that.
But it seems like my problem's finally fixed
I'm using the most updated PDAVIET wm6 rom with Radio: 1.50.08.11
Been using that for about 2 weeks, haven't had a call drop since.
However I have had a few hangs here and there.
I run a lot of apps so the memory is pretty low most of the time. Yet for some reason I'm not getting any call drops so I'm happy. (Finally able to talk for like 15 mins without breaking up)
just fyi i'm also with 3, and don't have that band setting since I luv HSDPA yet certain areas only got Telstra reception...
Calls drop out
Hi, I'm in Sydney with 3 and haven't had any problems at all with the shipped WM5. After upgrading to the latest official WM6 ROM version 3.00.707.18 from the Dopd site things went bad with phone calls and weak signals.
Now upgraded the Radio to version 1.50.08.11 and everything's back to how it 's supposed to be.
Cheers and good luck.

UPDATED Title: Bad 3G/HSDPA lag/timeouts with 1.43, 1.48 & 1.61 ROMs

Got a little question for the french users in here. Can you one of you guys tell me what is the Radio version on the SFR (french Vodafone) ROM? I don't remember it and now I'm running 1.48.
I'm asking this because my data connections is acting up. sometimes when I browse (or do anything else that requires data to be sent/received) the goddamn connection just stawls for 20s. For example I'm browsing with Opera, when I click a link it goes from 3G to H, but every once in a while (well it happens rather frequently!) nothing happens (it doesn't change to H or quicly changes to H then back to 3G in less than a second) and the request times out. It renders the HD2 useless so I have to use a Wifi connection which is a pain in the ass. My iPhone, HTC Diamond, and HTC Trinity work perfectly (all with the same SIM). Unfortunitely I directly flashed to 1.48 and didn't use the phone with the SFR branded ROM (1.44 IIRC) so I don't know if this only happens with the current Radio.
Cheers
UPDATED the thread title as it seems to affect users all over Europe and with all ROMs.
this can help you?
Same problem with Bouygues Telecom and official ROM here.
I turned off the HSPDA in the advanced settings. However i keep switching from 3G to Edge when moving around, in zones that suppose to get fully 3G.
@ugo83130 : Is it the last ROM that you have here ? Is there a release history with the fixed bugs ?

The HD2 seems to have a spotty radio or antena. It keeps going back an forth between 3G & H is place where I didn't have any problem with my Diamond and iPhone 3G. As if sometimes the the data request is rejected by SFR. So the connection stawls for a little while then goes back to normal eventhough I'm sitting and didn't move!
Hello,
not a SFR problem.
I have exactly the same problem with Orange in France.
Waiting for a new radio rom.....
Was the problem here when you were using 1.43 version of the ROM?
Just wondering...
I think this is not just a problem in France because I to have this problem with the radio switching between H and 3G all the time and I live in Holland.
BTW. I also had this on 1.43 so I guess it is not 1.48 related.
Thanks for the input guys.
Just to be clear, going from to 3G to H when a data request is done is normal (it then goes back to 3G when the request is fullfilled). The problem is when it just doesn't go to H and nothing happens for 20s or when it hits H then directly goes back to 3G is less than a second as if the phone lost connection with the network or the request was rejected. This shouldn't happen especially when my iPhone 3G, HTC Diamond and HTC Trinity (just did a test with it) never exhibit this problem.
Upping this one to get more feedback
That's certainly the most important bug of the HD2. 1/3 of my calls fail when 3G is enable. I have to disable it to avoid such problems.
The Radio or Antena does seems to suffer from some sensivity issues. I tested the HD2 and Diamond side by side (2 SFR SIMs with identical full internet contracts). And the Diamond didn't have any problem at all going from to 3G to H then back to 3G when the request were fullfilled. The HD2 kept messing around, sometimes waiting 10/20 secs t'ill it hits H eventhough it was showing more bars next to the 3G/H icon.
It's worst than that. Even in Paris, i have never got HSDPA, but only EDGE. That's ridiculous.
Up please post your feedback if you encounter the same problem.
Those having this problem, can you post you Radio version?
Having exactly the same problem with mine here in sweden..

Data connection unstable - lost

Hello Optimus 7 owners,
My Optimus 7 already went in warrancy repair for the infamous "reboot issue" and now the problem is gone but... it seems that data connection is absolutely unstable. I wanted to understand if I'm the only one with this problem or if it's a common one.
The data connection constantly switch from max power H to one bar of G, then 3 bar of 3G, then one bar of H and so on without a rule and many times switching even to the "no signal" icon, then resuming in one second. (if it's unclear I can make a video and post it to youtube)
I'm on Vodafone Italy and it's not an operator signal issue because my wife phone (an old Motorola V3) don't has such strange Behavior, and my old HTC Touch HD worked as expected too!
That behaviour translate to an unstable data connection, many time I see timeouts or long wait time before data start to works in apps that use internet.
The strange thing is that if I speak with phone there seems to have no problem...
I'm alone or someone is in my same boat??? What do you think about this strange Behavior?
Here my versions:
SO version: 7.0.7392.0
Firmware version: 1.0.1.10
Hardware version: 1.0.0.0
Radio sw version: 1.0.1.10
Radio hardware version: 0.3.5.0
Bootloader version: 1.5.0.0
SOC processor version: 0.30.2.0
The phone has it's original firmware, I've never done strange things
Thank you in advance to all kind people that will answer
No one with data connection switching between 3G, H, G and no signal like me? I'm the one in the world with this problem??? I can't believe that...!
I have partly observed that behaviour on my set, I tend to have some signal issues as in always very few bars (say one or two) where others using same carrier have full connection.
Not sure if it's a firmware problem, read something about a pending fix from LG but I can't find the article anymore so it might have been bogus.
This can cause the phone to rapidly switch from 3G to E (Edge) to H at times.
It's not such a big problem for me so I guess I really don't think about it much.
/J
I'm thinking about sending my phone again to repair... :'(
Sent from my LG-E900 using Board Express
This is the same for me as well - i live in a bad signal area anyway which doesnt help but the phone will go from full signal to no signal back to decent signal.
A Dell Streak on the same network has much more stable signal.
Must say it has improved slightly in Mango although not that much
Well..... I don't know if I have the same issue. I work in a large building and I know I have a weak signal inside. So most of the day it stays on G, sometimes E if I just pull it out of my pocket from behind something.
The issue I have is that when I know there is a better connection, it doesn't seem to jump on it. I either have to go into the cellular selection in settings or simply reboot it and it will find, display, and fully use H connection. Which I am more than pleased with the performance.
Trouble is, both the office and the house have weak signals so as long as it's G or 3G I'm happy. The only time I get to H is if I'm traveling around town and get to play with it.

Please whatch the video and tell me if you have the same/similar issue as I have (switching between 3G and H with very unstable data transfer / stuck)

This is my first post so I would like to greet the entire XDA community.
I'm facing the same issue (instable 3G connection). With my previous smartphone, a Sony Experia X1 with Win Mobile 6.5 + Manila ROM (thanks XDA!!), 3G connection works like a charm. I think that poor connection performance have as side effect the excessive battery drain (12-16 hr with push email disabled).
My cell infos:
LG E900 Optimus 7 WIND-IT reflashed with VOD-IT ROM (22 sep 2011)

hardware: 1.0.0.0
sw radio: 1.0.16.10
hw radio: 0.3.5.0
bootloader: 1.5.1.0
I have a similar issue. I live in spain, and it seems that the connection here is an option.
Anyways, like I said, the connection is bad, but many times, the phone switches off the data connection alone for a randoom time. then it comes again.
I used the Word switch off, because, although data connection is off, I can make and recieve calls.
This makes me obviously nervious, because I don't want to call trough phone-line, I want to call through Tango!!!! and chat through whatsapp instead of sms
Can you post system info of your LG Optimus 7?
Particularly OS version, brand and SIM operator. I wonder if it happens when brand of smartphone and SIM are different.

If you want mine you can read them in my signature. Previously I had TIM-IT ROM with Vodafone IT SIM and I had same problem. Today I have reflashed with Vodafone IT ROM and a Vodafone IT SIM, same problem.
I don't know what to do... I don't believe a LG service can fix the problem.... Or yes? Is anyone that sent device to service for that problem??? Please tell us your story!
This is very noticeable on mine - so much so im using a Wildfire S that holds signal perfectly well in the same place (not as good a phone though). Will try and see if locking it to 3G only will help.
Hopefully LG release a firmware update for this.
Some new considerations. Usually I work in an office with poor 3G signal strength (max 2 bars) where I have instable data connection (and voice calls too). Yesterday I worked all day long in another location with good 3G signal strength (at least 4 bars) and I haven't had any connection problem: email (Exchange and Gmail accounts), IE, Market Place etc. always available.
Now I am at my usual office and once again I have an instable data connection. No reset/restart/switch off/fw update in the last three days.
Is it possible that it is only a "bad reception" issue?
How many bars do you have when instable data connection issue occurs?

It's very difficult to tell you how much signal there is at my home (where I've recorded the youtube video) because my LG Optimus 7 is reporting a value from 0 to 5 bars.... Normally it stays at 4 of 5, if I configure not to use 3G it stays to 5 of 5 bars. In My Nokia E65 I've used to compare loading times, the signal is at 100% of the bar.
I really can't understand what's going on with my device... The main thing is that I cannot understand if it's a common device problem or only my device problem. Maybe the second? If that's the case I'll send to repair for the second time my phone (other 3 weeks without phone... ahrg!)
I've the same problems with my LG Optimus 7. My common carrier is E-Plus/base here in germany. Extreme fluctuating signal (switching between 3G, H and E in less than 2 seconds) when starting a "online-app" and it doesn't depend on the location (indoor/outdoor). The Data-Rate is poor and most times i have the "no-signal-sign" in the upper left, but the strange thing is, i can buzz so. without problems...
Looks like a poor programmed signal-display.
no signal
Yes, in fact I noticed too, in these days, that sometimes I'm stuck with "no signal" symbol even if I can ring to my phone... I've also seen the no signal symbol while communicating from internet (yes, wifi was off...) I think the LG driver is very poor, in fact the battery too has the problem that it doesn't update if you don't turn off the device.
I can accept that the signal symbol is not realistic but not that data doesn't come in/out! It's terrible.
I have the issue, I'm from Argentina and I have the same problem, indoor o outdoor it's the same. LG E900H.
I do a Factory reset yesterday and I haven´t this issue anymore. I do it for the battery life, and now I don´t have both issue. May be the unstable connection was the battery problem because the device is looking for signal everytime.
Of course I´m not sure but it´s possible. Good Luck
I have the same issue too.
Try to open MFG app and then select:
7. Engineer Menu
4. Modem settings
2. Band Settings
Select WCDMA Only (GSM only may help also) and reboot phone.
Same here
I'm with Vodafone-it and have the same issue, and even worst: sometimes I loose my connection with Wi-fi, too, at my home, while all other devices continue working.

GSM Voice abroad

Hi!
I have two Droid pro phones from Verizon.
They are both unlocked to use abroad and have latest system update - 4.6.8.XT610.Verizon.en.US.
Baseband version: N_01.81.00R.
I am using phones on KCell (Kazakhstan local telecom provider) which operates on 900/2100 frequencies.
So I see very strange behaviour with this phones:
While the phone on GSM frequency I can't hear anything - absolute silence during a call while on GSM, or I can hear for a first few seconds (1-3) and then again - nothing.
I can hear only signals from numbers on Dialpad when I press it.
At the same time, if the phone on UMTS band (I see that because 3G icon is shown) I can talk easily, no problem at all.
Tested on both phones - same situation.
Tested on other providers (Beeline) - same.
Can anyone can tell, what all this mean and how can I solve this?
Does anyone experienced similar problem?
Thank you!
I use a Motorola Droid pro 4.6.8.XT610.Verizon.en.US with MTS Samara (Russia), no such problem, but there is a problem with the quality of the signal, the signal is weak, even in the GSM mode.

And it is impossible to correct....
But You can send/recive sms and use internet...
Thank's a lot for the answers!

No... I'm sorry...
Probably your providers are not using some voice codecs, that Droid supports. Call to the call center and escalate issue - tell them to escalate to the technical team to check codec compatibility in the network.
Try the Baseband Switcher for Defy.
Then select the baseband for your country your are in.,
Probably the baseband in your country is not match with Verizon's
My network provider in Hong Kong is CSL, and when I received this Verizon,
voice calls on 3G can be dialed out but no voice.
Once i tried this lit thing for Defy, calls were fine.

Hello,
I have a similar experience: in Slovenia, on Simobil, voice works reliably only on GSM. On 3G, there is no voice on outgoing calls. Data works on GSM and 3G.
I also have Baseband version: N_01.81.00R.
And Defy Baseband Switcher also crashes on start :b

i really don't know... but if you try to put Argentinian's sbf, wait 48 hours without battery, it's possible that you can start your phone in a really gsm phone...
seeing other posts you can find another user that was able to do this procedure from european to american's sbf...
maybe?
Hey,
I also use the phone in Kazakhstan under ACTIV network and have the similar problem. There was no such problem just before a month now. Maybe our provider changed the frequencies or smth. It really bugs me out((.Have you tried to use the phone under Pathword network? lets try to solve this problem since we both are using the phone under same provider.

Yes I have it installed on my DP,
if it crashes, it means the baseband selected is not suitable.
Remove Sim to boot up, change basband back to default, and reinsert Sim to boot and retry.
however, the improvement which I observed on my phone,
Im not sure if that was brought by the baseband switcher or just a random network issue, since I have no technical background. Just the phone vendor who sold me this 2nd hand handset told me to try, and a coincidence it worked after the installation.
* sorry for the late reply

[Q] call problem

hello, I have a problem with my Samsung Omnia 7. Sometimes when incoming or outgoing call happens that me and the other side doesnt hear anything. It is just silence on both sides. Only help is to interrupt the call and make call again. Have anybody the same problem? Currently I have an official ROM with the following information:
Versine OS: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware: 2424.11.11.2
Hardware: 3.15.0.4
2424.11.9.1 Radio software
Radio hardware: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader version: 5.11.1.8
Chip SOC: 0.36.2.0
First I had a phone unlocked using Windowbreak and then I had in phone Mi7rom, but it seemed to me that it started to do just after using Windowbreak, but Im not sure. Therefore, I also returned to the original rom. The problem appears approximately every 10th to 20 call and it's pretty annoying. I was wondering if it be not related to firmware, which is different from radio software ..... Is there any opportunity to place the phone in absolutely the same state it was in when buying?

Had the same problem (I talked about it few posts back). This silence occures when you make a call, and phone switches either from 3G to Edge, or reverse, so you loose connection (it doesnt come with every call, only few). Solution is either switch only to 3G or GSM. To do this go to Diagnosis and type *#2263# and switch to WCDMA Band Preference -> WCDMA ALL for 3G only, or GSM Band Preference -> GSM ALL for GSM only. I set it to 3G, because in my country we have decent 3G coverage. Only downside is if you dont have 3G coverage, you have no signal at all, so you have to switch to GSM to gain it. I never had call break since I changed this. Hope this helps.
Thank you very much I will try this and then tell you if it is ok
Hi. I have same problem. Sometimes i have no sound/mic while calling. Phone freezing, display no respond
Hey folks,
I've had the same Problem using stock ROM(before NoDo), then I changed to mi7Rom 8773 tango on firmware 11.11.2 and still had the same problem while phone was switching from 3G to EDGE. Now I'm using mi7Rom WP7.8 Edition Nokia Mod v2 - Full Dark Theme by poloche based on mirolg's work, since using this ROM I haven't recognized the problem anymore. I'm not sure if this depends on the ROM or anything else, but now it works fine for me.
Im running Omnia 7 16GB with German carrier O², OS Version 7.10.8835.35, Firmware 2424.12.4.2, Hardware 3.15.0.4, Radio Software 2424.11.9.1, Radio Hardware 0.0.0.800 and Bootloader 4.10.1.9[MAGLDR] and Chip-SOC 0.36.2.0
Have a nice day
P.S. pls excuse my english, I'm from Germany
Thanks.
