I did the new root method, (23) 2v2. With market fix and all.
The headphones started working BUT not all the time.
It works if I start mediascape with it connected, but as soon as I unplug it if re-insert it it doesn't work.
Either I have to wait for 1-2 mins, or mute the volume, or kill timescape.
This is really strange as I did the latest root method (re did steps 4 and 5)

Okay, let's see if I can explain this right.
Well, my wife HTC Inc is acting weird. So somehow the Media Volume stops working. You can try to adjust it up or and down no luck. The ringer volume works fine. I even downloaded a volume app after I noticed the situation and tried to adjust the media volume (you can see the bar adjust) through the app, no luck. After I do a hard boot by taking the battery out, then it works.
Questions in troubleshooting:
- Does it need some sort of update?
- Is it a defective equipment?
I tried searching for it, no luck.
i have never had this problem so your saying even after a reboot it does stop working again?
Same Problem
I just got my Incredible a few days ago. I noticed the same problem this morning. I powered the phone off and back on and it worked fine. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong because I'm new to Android and I don't know how to use the phone yet or if it was an internal problem. The only thing I can think of that may have started the problem is I plugged headphones in and used the FM radio for a minute. If I have any other problems or come across anything I will let you know.
M- It stops working after a certain amount of time. To get the media volume to work, you have to reboot.
S- talk to Verizon tech, there will be an update out to fix this issue. Not sure when..

Hi,
I have seen this in some threads, but I have not seen any solution.
I have rooted my X10a phone to R2BA023 and now, the phone takes a long time to recognize I have inserted a headphone, routing the audio to the external speakers.
I do not have this issue when I am using bluetooth, jst my normal headphones.
Anybody has a solution for this?
It happens to me too. It is kindda fixed (version 20 had a huge problem with headphones) but it is really slow to pickup the headphone signal
I don't know if it is time based or software based
Things I do that SEAM to work sometimes:
force close mediascape and re-open
boot with headphones connected,
turn media volume all way down, pause, play and turn it back all the way up.
wait for a minute or so
I don't get what turns it on. I thought it was fixed.
I'm having no problem, of course I force close most apps, including mediascape as soon as I boot up.
By the way, I do not use mediascape. I use 3 (cubed).
I usually force close most of my apps also.
I have not use the delete step of the rooting tutorial.
mine is working fine b4 and after rooted! is there something wrong with your headphone jack?
I'm rooted on R2BA023, using 3(cubed) as well. Use it everyday for 3 hours or so (1hr drive to work each way) it works instant for me, I did a check yesterday after seeing your thread. Might be a hardware issue??
I'm having the same issue. I know my headphones worked with the first root, but when I upgraded to R2BA023 is when they stopped working.
I noticed that if you restart the phone with headphones plugged in, they work, or if you leave them plugged in for like 2 minutes, they start working fine.

I don't know about the restart with the phones plugged, but my headphones worked just fine with the R2BA020 root and they start working just after sometimes, this happenning not moving the phone or the headphones at all.
Just tried the restart. It just works after some time also.
I have no probs whit mine done rooting and did it at the first time

I've been having this problem for about a month now. The phone would soft reboot. I think it soft reboots because I see the following:
1. Phone locks up for a few seconds.
2. All apps restart including my LauncherPro.
3. All widgets try to update.
4. Cell Signal is lost for a few seconds.
5. Media Scanner starts to scan for media files.
6. I hear the boot sound, eventhough the phone doesn't completely reboot.
My phone is rooted and has Voodoo V0.2 Kenrel installed (not the OC one).
I also noticed that it soft reboots more often after I turn Bluetooth off in my car when the phone is connected to the car stereo and streaming audio.
I wonder if anyone know what is wrong with my phone or if they have experienced this issue before on the Samsung Fascinate or any other android phone.
I see the same thing sometimes when turning off bluetooth when connected to my car stereo. In addition to the symptoms you mentioned, I hear the boot sounds, even though the phone doesn't appear to completely restart. My phone is completely stock, never rooted.
Yes, I do hear the boot sound too. I forgot to mention that.
Maybe try one of Dirk's D02 kernels? My phone soft rebooted yesterday, but that was because I flashed the ota radio. It's been fine since.
However, it COULD be a problem with the DI01 update, since it is happening to a non-rooter as well.
Just some thoughts.

This issue has been fixed in the DJ05 update.
I just tried the "NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.2" ROM its amazing. Thanks guys for making it possible and in almost perfect way. but I have some issues with this version and the version before this.
When Im in call on skype and get a phone call, when i answer this call the phone freeze for couple seconds and then work with no sound till i do restart. also I've got the same issue when I do unplug the headphone jack, I had to restart it to have it work. And when I'm on google hangout and the phone play a notification sound or i get a call I get the same problem and another restart
its gave me hard time.
When I installed the 2.2 version I had another problem which is when i do Google hangout I cant hear the person i talk to !!! so i had to uninstall it back to 2.1 version. I know we dont have to get everything perfect but i share this to see if its possible to have any solution for this problem.

Try this if you flashed the new ROM without complete wipe:
- reboot into recover and clear Cache;
- after this finishes, go to advanced menu and fix permissions;
- gently remove battery and wait for 1 minute (to get everything out of memory)
- gently put battery in again and reboot.
If it works now, it was a combination of dirty cache and wrong permissions.
Otherwise flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25706703&postcount=5223

Thanks utrecht56 I tried all that and still have the same issue, and when I flashed the "audio.primary.qsd8k.so_update.zip" on 2.2 version the phone stick at the logo it keeps repeat seems forever
I have an AT&T GS4 with the MF3 update. I rooted it back in October, then tried to un-root it in November, which worked as far as root checker is concerned. It still says "custom" with a lock symbol when I turn it on though.
Anyway, yesterday afternoon it started doing weird things.
-The play/pause button on the headphones doesn't play or pause anything, though if i hold it I still get the voice commands.
-Scrolling in apps and menus hesitates and skips.
-It hangs up when I wake it up before it will let me swipe to unlock.
-Sometimes while listening to podcasts it will just pause them, or switch to google music for less than a second before pausing all sound in the headphones.
-Once when I picked it up off my desk (with the screen off and nothing plugged into it) it started playing google music out loud in my silent office.
All of this started suddenly yesterday afternoon. I had not downloaded any new apps in a while, and I didn't really notice if anything was updated.
I have tried formatting my SD card, closing as many running apps as I can identify, rebooting, removing the battery, removing the SD card, and cleaning out the headphone jack of dust. Oh, and I tried to download wakelock detector, but it will not install. No errors, it just downloads and sits at 100% without installing.
I have very little experience with messing with Android, since I came from an iPhone back in August to this, and didn't get to play with anything before I got the awful MF3 update. So if anybody has any suggestions, keep that level of knowledge in mind.
In attempting to back up my data, it will not connect to my computer. I have a mac with Android File Transfer that I have used in the past, but just says it cannot connect. It did connect once, but it took a few tries and now it won't connect again.
