Polaris has potential, I know!
This is my first thread so don't go rough on me.
All this is about an idea, about a dream, about the future.
I wish there could be something we could all do to save our little Polaris's lives from the trash bin.
Wouldn't it be nice!?!
I suggest 5 things!
And i would need some hardcore programmers to be working on this..
Yes, for crying out loud, I am calling for Bepe, Olipro, Vivi, Udk, Pawel062, cmonex, misar, faria, tadzio, pof.. There are a lot of you guys. And really as far as I know you know what you are doing!
I am using Bepe's rom at the moment.. (bepe an update maybe?)

Lot's of big fonts and requests from someone who doesn't appear to understand much about why his some of these requests can't be fulfilled.
Out of interest tcfanboy, how much cash are you willing to gift to people you've mentioned to do all this work for you?

I am not planning to sell this product, so there is no cash in this for me.
I am just saying i can contribute, i wish others could too..

hey tcfanboy, thanks for the poll, u've got a point here but: u see all this work that the ppc wizes are doing is voluntary and asking them for stuff that they already know abt its not the best idea(my opinion). I'm sure they're doing their best to provide all of us with good roms and various improvements but they're not receiving any help from the company that was supposed to do all this work: HTC !
Anyway, HTC announced that they will release some sort of update in this month or next one for the devices with Q7xxx chips that will provide some sort of fix for the current issues but they didn't specify what exactly will the update do. And its not surprising considering they don't even admit they've got a problem with the video acceleration
I'm definitely looking forward to see your list of requests integrated in a rom and I'm sure sooner or later it will happen. Thanks to every1 working on any improvements!

there will be an update that fixes something that htc is not willing to tell in advance but it optimizes grafik performance
the hardware acceleration cant be activated afterwards, according to the o2 guy

i might be able to contribue with a ultra lite rom. i know i said i would release a new project rom but i want to mess more with a lite rom so will release a full and lite rom tommorow. if u all dont mind me removing almost everything like camera etc.. i can definatly get something really lite made.

acceleration can be turned on and off at any time. acceleration is nothing more than making dlls that turn on the acceleration and use it. manilla aka touchflo 3D is a example of acceleration in use. if u look at the dependencies of manilla then you will know the dlls needed for acceleration.

Manila runs on a quite different device though
The actual hardware could be disabled in the Polaris-generation through some sort of burning certain areas on the chip (some guy wrote about it in here a couple months ago) to physically destroy certain features. But giving effort to find out if that is the case by disassembling other ROMs is surely not the wrong thing to do! I guess I'll wait for some sort of fix or buy an Xperia if that one happens to arrive first

hey Pawel, if u'll integrate in your rom all the fixes and current improvements that vivi, pdaviet and udK have in their roms, it doesn't matter how lite the rom will be because we can always install on it the applications we want.

I don't know much abt wm platform but working in IT gives me a bit of a tech background and I'm learning fast, please correct me if I'm wrong but I think this video acceleration problem on Polaris is not easily achievable even with the dlls from Diamond because they are built for VGA and TC is using QVGA Right?

This is correct. But then again a driver is a driver and the resolution shouldnt play a role. nVidia drivers work for 1920x1200 as well as they do for some 1024x768 output... It could be different though for fixed resolution devices like our mobile devices are. We'll see, we'll see, or we might switch the hardware manufacturer...

u all asked for more than a full rom so i am making it. whats the problem in that. so i missed the deadline by one day. we all do.

Sony Xperia Windows media player interface

okay i own a HTC touch dual, and in my quest for a decent media player i am stuck with kinoma as nothign else does it for me but then i saw the interface on the Xperia and i WANT IT, i dont want the panels, i want the media player with its XMB interface, IS THIS POSSIBLE

For a senior member on a site biased to modding, that was such a stupid answer.
Do you give that answer to everyone out their who wanted TouchFlo 3d on their NOT-HTC device
or maybe your wanting to send me the $1400 (nzd) needed for xperia, if so cough up, or maybe just read the post again, i have a htc touch dual, not a friggin xperia and all i want is a good music media app that is good and ascetically pleasing and the xperia has that pegged, and if you read my post again you will see i just want the media app, i dont want the panels or the haptic touch screen or the large bulk or that device, i just want the software which this website has proven time and time again that their is always some smart cookie who can supply the deman.
btw if i had the money for xperia, i would buy an android device. and veer entirely away from WinMo and Apples bastardized leopard port.

what i want is that blue XMB interface and the black media player, and no unfortunately the WMP on my HTC Neon is like most parts of the the OS the most un-ascetically pleasing thing going

Thats the hard thing iv read about it, even seen vids about it, but they are few and far between, its like im the only one intrigued by the music player, heres a quote from Mobile tech review

Any way just open up your Xperia, go into the music panel and their it is, the music player!!

If you mean this, thats `s the SE Media Panel. You can search for it as a cab and try it yourself. I don`t no if this works on a non Xperia.

Yes, why haven't you already started, and have you cured cancer yet? or how about finding that plane from France that just went down? and after you have done them can you teach me French in under 24 hours, because you obviously just picked up the list of things i wasn't asking YOU to do, i asked the community, not you in particular, i didn't come groveling to you specifically for a quick solution, i just wanted to know information, information that has now been supplied to me by the community, the community of whom i asked.

If you'd of just searched through the internet and xda for the media panel you wouldnt have needed to start a thread about it in the first place - maybe you should do that in the future since those were the answers you got...

It is PEACH. Sometimes. I'm ok with the panel when it's plain blue but I think it changes backgrund color on a schedule. ?? At least I cannot find any settings or way to disable... peach.
It's also sort of oversensitive on the metatagging thing. My music library is in perfect order when I browse the library in the plain windows mobile player, no unknown artists or albums or whatsoever. The panel library always find some tags I didn't know are there - and I run the albums both in Mp3 tagger and Ashampoo music studio before I synch to the device.
Point is: don't have too high expectations, it's not that good.

No you misunderstood yet again, but thats okay you probably just "donated' your way into being a senior member, i All i knew is that xperia had panels and a cool looking media player, i didnt no wat is was called and everytime i searched google i got naught, the closest i got was a a mod for the HTC touch PRO HD, which if u knew your sh!t wud no that it wudnt work on my htc touch dual becaus i have a vga screen as a the HD has a WVGA HD screen, i dont want the panels application, i just want the Sony ericson music player application and that previous poster kinda lead me on a red herring, please just bow out now, go find sum other person to say dumb **** too, and keep donating kuz mayb ull ba a moderator one day..,.

the video shows an X10 running android 2.1, its not clear as to wether its rooted or not but its definately running it

Pretty nifty! Took forever to boot, hey? Besides the boot logo the fw didnt look SE whored out. Perhaps it is root? Or maybe an early se build?

the first logo looks like an Arrow sign , may be downloading something to the phone or something else that is why it took that long

SE as stated several times that the screen is not hardwarewise capable of MT.

yeah great no multitouch we get it, does anyone have ANY idea how this was done?

And Synaptics has stated several times to me <<just wait and see>>. I believe in multitouch, IMHO it's only a patent problem

For the record Synaptics managed to soft enable multi touch gestures on there standard trackpad panels, its more than possible to enable it with a little bit of fancy work (eg registering each touch seperatly at high speed and then relaying it as a single multi touch gesture to the OS). Multitouch is what everyone is obsessing over today then eh? weather its possible or not is no one else at all at interested in who even did this let alone how?! Peace and love.

it can also be some emulator+remote desktop video, as it was with htc hd2 running wp7. i am staying calm in this case, no additional info, nothing written there.. even the video quality. from my point of view it is not real.

If its fake i say we get a hold of his email and email him in bulk stating how much of a **** he is, i however dont think its fake, if it was you would expect much more input/response latency than we are seeing, it looks native, and if he where to fake it he would have used 2.2......

Yes, but if you run it in emulator and access it via wifi in local network, the responses also can be quite good.. And as far as I know, hacking the bootloader is really not easy, and honestly - if I'd done it, at first I would write some informations about what I've done.. And not just some "nothing saying" video on youtube..

yeah i think its a little bit conspicuous but.. im not looking for reasons that its fake, lets just take it at face value for the moment. i still am of the view that remote connection isn't as fast as navigation in that video, im going to test this out tonight.

do vanilla 2.1 have a blue status bar like in our 1.6 X10 ? if not it maybe an early SE 2.1 build that they promised because i clearly see a blue status bar and as you guys mentioned the boot-loader is hard to crack

How is the Phone?

copy everything in your internal storage(/system etc.) of arc to your computer

would it not have had the drivers in the source though that may have been portable over to the X10 2.3.2 J&Z implementation

Sorry about stating you guys could have the sofware, it's my job at stake if I'd share with you guys I'll see if I can cook something up with this.
The phone's fine, much better than X10i. It's the best SE & Android combo I've used. The new UI really looks cool and is smooth as silk. Build quality isn't that great, too much plastic for my taste. This one packs Android 2.3.2 and is atleast as fast as my Nexus S running stock. An excellent upgrade from X1. I'd love to give you guys some in-depth review with photos but unfortunately I'm in bit of a rush.

i don't have it the OP does not want to share the ROM because he would risk his job. Totally reasonable imo.

But if it is true, i think we could be able to port arc's applications into this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
Correct me if i'm wrong

Don't know if devs would be able to port or not, but why not wait for next month when phone's launched instead of asking the man to risk his job for something we could be getting in a month's time?

Best thing that you can do is dump the system. You can do this by issuing this command:
adb pull /system
once the device is USB Debugging Mode. This will really give us something to work with.

I would imagine that this would only be possible by using the kernel of 2.1 (the way that devs been using to port 2.2 and 2.3) as I don't think that SE would sign the certificate of arc with the same signature they signed the x10 so the only benefit of this is to get hold of SE add ons compared to 2.3 that j already ported
I would like to join the developers team at some point as I might have something to add, but I need to finish school in May as having 6 courses keeps my hands full...until then good luck to these guys for their impressive job and specially their dedication

I think so, thats why Sony has such a good bootloader protection. They want you to buy the new one instead of pimping your X10. In the end Sony wil fail this, I'ts a mather of time. It does keep the noobs away.

Sorry, but this news is nothing interesting.
I dont care about facebook integration. They need to focus to fix the problems with the ARC instead of doing this.
And the release of some budget phones is also not interesting since this is the ARC place

all that junk will only increase battery use and will be added into the list of bloatware to be removed!!

Well.. I'm quite interested.. I use FB a fair bit so I'll be impressed if this is a good integration..... and I'm sure that the update won't just be for this.. they'll also include the 2.3.3 update and numerous bug fixes too.

Well I was the first one to mention yesterday that there was a Software Upgrade coming out ... but didn't know what was the Upgrade updating.
New ARCs are expected Within a Week or so.

Gah! This sort of inane crap (who f*!&ing cares if it takes one less click to 'like' something on facebook?) is what makes it take longer to get updates out for the phone (see HTC sense). All of this deep integration means that every time there's a new version of android they have to reintegrate all of this garbage from scratch instead of just plonking the app on top.
There's already a facebook app. It works. We can use it if we want. Or use a browser. Leave it at that. Why does it have to have its tentacles into every part of the phone? IT'S JUST A WEBSITE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

@daveybaby - I very much doubt that it will be deep integration.. it will be built into the SE launcher, like TS, and all the other widgets they've created.. that all now floats (mostly) above the OS layer so this FB integration won't affect that.

personallly i don't care of this kind of add. First they should keep android up to date and bugless than after, if they have time to lose adding theses features

I am sure that all bugs will be fixed...the FB talk is a cover up...news cant read 'SE to fix bugs in the next update'. it sounds better for the company when you are releasing a new version with something new, even though it may not be anything many of us care about...and like most of the stock stuff, users who dont like the new FB stuff will not have to compulsorily use it..

Native Google facebook integration has been removed from 2.3.3 and is not back in 2.3.4 either . I'm guessing it would need to be through Timescape and contact integration if they did improve it.

I hope that's the case.

hopefully this update fixes the most important bug.. the inability to connect to exchange mail.. ffs without that this phone is pretty damn useless... can't sync to my work email =="

I thought that was just for google phones? I thought any phones that were sold with Facebook on the device was unaffected by that?

I really hope you're right. It would make sense, actually. Nobody likes to admit that there were bugs on their product. ^^
