Follow the instructions on that thread to flash ClockworkMod Recovery onto your phone. It replaces the stock recovery (meaning it will load when you select recovery from hboot), so no need to use the loop method anymore.

How do you access that new recovery? Does holding the volume buttons down at boot work?

yes, when turning on your phone, hold power and volume down.

[Q] I think I killed my phone - Help please?

Hi all,
I tried rooting my Nexus S and now it only roots into Clockwork Recovery. I am completely new to rooting but I am sure that there must be a way to restore factory settings to the phone if it will boot to something and is not bricked.
At this point if I could just replace everything on the phone with whatever comes stock to include the system image and recovery image I would be ecstatic. If someone could help me with step by step instructions to make this happen I would be extremely appreciative.
EDIT: The top of the screen says in red: FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG

There's currently no way to flash back to stock recovery, but it will come in time.
When you're in Clockwork recovery and select reboot system it ends up back in Clockwork?
What if you power off the phone, then hold up volume rocker and turn on power, then once in fastboot select reboot? What happens then?

if you mean not only unroot but also reflash a stock rom, you will have to boot to bootloader(by press vol+ and power to turn on your phone) , then flash clockwork recovery
-place the recovery3101.img in the tools folder and type the following command
fastboot flash recovery recovery3101.img
Click to collapse
then select recovery
and at last flash a stock rom just like you flash superuser.zip
You are running stock recovery (Most likely due to stock rom loading the stock recovery on your phone every time it reboots. So just connect your phone to PC and flash cwm recovery then you can unroot your phone easily.

[Q] Why does clockwork block recovery mode?

I have done adb reboot bootloader
my bootloader is unlocked
but here is where it gets weird for me...
I am trying to install SuperSU-v0.87.zip
and it says
Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Mode,
Use the power button to select it.
which is easy enough, but when I do this I get an android with a triangle and exclamation mark...
which blocks me from the next progression;
Once in recovery, select Install zip from SD Card
Select choose zip
Choose SuperSU-v0.87.zip, then select yes to install
If I press vol. up and power I get clockwork screen but cannot access default recovery - is there any way to get rid of the CWM I have installed and start over?
Or even better - any way to access stock recovery mode without getting the dreaded android-triangle-bang?
please help
just trying to get superuser to add stickmount
thx
the dreaded android-triangle-bang is the stock recovery. reflash your custom recovery via fastboot and delete the recovery-from-boot.p file in /system/ so that your custom recovery doesnt disappear.

[Q] Help! I'm rooted but can't properly install clockwork or TWRP

My device is rooted. I tried installing clockwork but no image for my device. I tried installing TWRP but nothing happens when I reboot. I can't reboot into clockwork recovery mode or TWRP. Both immediately reboot to the LG screen after 1 second of the android. What am I doing wrong?
Hey,
Try this if the recovery is really installed (FOR SURE IF RECOVERY IS INSTALLED):
Shut down the phone and Hold the power button + volume down button until the LG image appears. Once it does let go of the buttons then immediately push and hold them again until recovery boots.
If not then
Visit this site for easiest and safest tutorial: www.lg-phones.org/clockworkmode-cwm-recovery-for-lg-g2.html
Hit thanks if this helped you.
are u using stock rom with root?
if so then the reboot option will always only reboot the phone, not reboot to recovery of choice.
try third party app that has option to reboot to recovery like Goo Manager :good:

[Q] n900w8 Won't boot into recovery mode

A few months ago I rooted my N900w8, installed custom recovery (cwm), and flashed Android L. Today I tried to update the recovery, planning on updating the ROM as well. But now no custom recovery works at all, even the one I had running before. When trying to boot into recovery it says booting recovery... like it should, and then the screen just goes blank, then the phone restarts. Sometimes getting stuck in a bootloop trying to boot to recovery, but usually just regularly booting and boots normally to Android L. So now I am unable to update my ROM because not a single custom recovery has worked and therefore I cant flash the .img files. Please Help!

I had the same issue except when I try to load recovery it would "forward" itself to download mode.
This may work for you, try re-flashing the latest CWM update with Odin. Place your phone in download mode by powering it off and holding Volume Down + Home + Power. Press volume up to proceed.
1. Download and extract
2. Run Odin as Administrator (Download if you don't have already)
3. Select CMW file from your download folder and place it in the "AP" section.
4. Start
When finished, Reboot holding Volume UP + Menu + Power Button. Vola!
Let me know if this works for you.

Yeah depending on which recovery I flash it'll either forward to download mode, get stuck in a boot loop trying to start recovery, or restart and load the ROM.
Unfortunately it still isn't working :/ I used the tool from this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269) to convert the .img to a flashable odin file. Used the proper Canadian touch recovery (also tried recovery without touch) from this page (https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager) and no luck. Tried to enter recovery mode, it says entering recovery mode, goes black for a few seconds, vibrates then restarts the phone in regular boot mode :/ Any more idea's?
Do I need to be flashing a recovery that supports Android 5.0.2 for it to work? Im so puzzled.
YES!! Finally I was able to get a TWRP 2.8.5.0 working. Downloaded latest version from the main TWRP site and flashed using ODIN, did not use the converting tool above, downloaded the TWRP as a .tar flashable file from their site. Thanks for the help!
Do I need to close this thread or anything? This is my first time posting on xda

Congratulations on solving your own problem! ^_^
I just figured to share my part when i experienced the same issue. I feel like it has somehow corrupt itself after it finished flashing which results in an empty directory for the recovery mode.
Warm Regards,
