Hi guys as we all know that updating or rooting your phone will delete everything that the phone has including contacts, messages, settings, apps and apps settings...
what program do you suggest to back your phone up before updating/rooting and be able to restore it at the same state later?
My Backup Pro from the market
if you update the firmware OTA then it won't delete anything.. and then you'll have the Sony Ericsson back up software.. and I also use Astro to back up my apps (free ones).. this won't cost you anything..

Hi all,
Appreciate a bit of help.
Ive successfully backed up my applications with titanium backup after rooting my phone but am i correct in thinking i wont be able to restore these applications until 2.1 is rooted too?
Its just i will lose almost £50 worth of games and applications if this is the case.
Ive looked for another way of backing up without rooting but most of my applications came up as "private" so i couldnt back them up.
Ive waited along time for this 2.1 upgrade and i dont want to be left behind if my applications are too.
thanks for any help
If you paid for those apps through the market, you will still be able to download them (for free) when you upgrade to 2.1.
Because you have got google account, market will "remember" that you have bought those apps before and will let you just download them again, without paying. Unless you create new google account (because i.e. you forgot the password to old one).
thnx for the replies.
actually most of them they were from PLAYNOW.
6 HD games at £5 each, The rest were MarketPlace
I did recieve a .apk file with each game when i downloaded them from playnow and saved each one to my PC hoping i could reinstall if needed.
Only thing is i used a different number to download the paid apps from PLAYNOW to which i no longer have.
So i have a Titanium backup and the orignal .apk files i recieved so this should be enough to get them installed after upgrade i hope.
Anyone know if the original apk will reinstall ok after i upgrade?
got a friend with an android phone? try installing it on his and see what happens
Hey Folks,
I got fed up with SE and AT&T and debranded the phone using the Davinci team process. I now have the 2.0.A.0.504 build for the Brazil market. This includes a lot of apps that I don't want; Orkut, Prefixio Automatic, PlayNow, the Moxier Suite, etc.. I can't figure out how to delete these as they don't show up when I go to Manage Applications. So, I've got some Q's?
1) Is rooting the way to be able to delete this programs?
2) Is there anything I shouldn't delete?
3) From here on out, what do I do in terms of updates? Should I use Update Service? Or get them from here?
Thanks!

1) Yes.
2) As a rule of thumb, do NOT delete anything you do not know what it does. You can also read the first post here.
3) You can use update service. You can come back here to root.
Root, then install titanium backup. Also, there's a thread listing removable apps.

yeah, just use titanium backup and delete unwanted apps, and if you're unsure about some apps you can freeze them, so they won't start or be shown in your app drawer, but for freezing you'll have to have titanium pro
sorry if this is not in the right topic, but i also have one question about debranding:
i want to replace my stock firmware and change it to nordic (for earlier updates), but i want to know
if it is possible to backup my current firmware that came with phone, so that i can put it again in my phone if i ever wanted?
is it possible to somehow backup some relevant files in seus directory and restore them if needed to restore my stock firmware? and if is so, what are that files to backup?

Hello All,
I would really appreciate it if someone can teach me step by step how to get all the rooted programs back after updating to a new firmware. The firmware I have right now is 2.1 update 1. Is the newest firmware rootedable yet??I have already installed xrecovery but it has been a long time since I played with smartphone... I"m not really sure what to do now.... Thanks for all the help!
This Flash Tool guide is based on AT&T, but it works for anyone. Just use the appropriate X10a or X10i global generic ftf firmware. You will get the latest SE 2.1 firmware, including dualtouch, and you can use the Flash Tool to root, enable JIT, and install xRecovery.

I am using Astro file manager. When opening the app, press the menu button and then select 'tools' and then 'app backup'. This will enable you to backup apps currently installed on your device (you can decide which ones to backup to SD).
Only disadvantage in doing so, would be that once you restore the apps via Astro them won't show up in the market app, which in turn doesn't allow for updating of the apps. At least that was my find when I backed up apps in TRIPNRAVER MIUI GB ROM to TRIPNRAVER MIUI FROYO ROM.

Use appbrain and sync your apps, will find all of them no matter where you restored them from. Then it will find updates from market when available for you. After updating once these apps will then show in your market app.

In Titanium .. try BATCH/RUN Backup All user apps + system data
Hi I recently am trying to upgrade to Nougat and have it rooted.
Before I update, I have backed up all my user apps with Titanium Backup
But it seems to me that some apps being preinstalled with U firmware (such as Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook etc) as system, I am not able to use Titanium Backup to restore the data for them. So I decided to get it removed from my system app and install it again on Google Play as User App.
I am not sure if its the difference of Nougat from MM, but when I used Root Explorer to have it deleted from /System/App, what I still see in Application is "Disable/Enable", same to Google Play, it shows Disable or Update. Therefore the crap is still there even if I have deleted from System/App.
Is there anybody who would tell me how Either I can restore my old data with Titanium Backup or Completely have it deleted from system to reinstall?
Cheers!
Hi I'm not sure how to fix your problem once you use titanium bavkup. But if you use samsung smartswitch and backup to external sdcard. That works very well. Then you just import backup from sdcard.
Hi all,
I have S8 with stock android and many applications installed on it some of them are payed etc... Is it possible to fully backup my phone with all settings wallpapers, sms-es, apps and everything? Then to wipe all data on it to be like a new one, and after that to restore the image and the phone to be like today with all apps settings and eeeeverything
The idea is that phone will be used temporarily from another person for some weeks but i dont want to loose my apps.
Thanks
Hi,
As far as I know, if you're not rooted, you have to use Samsung Kies or another software on PC to backup everything.
Personally, I use SMS & Call log Backup, My App List to backup/restore all applications with Google Play (purchased items too) and I have to open every application I'm using to make individual exports to SD card if the application offers it but that's not efficient...
So I will root and then use Titanium backup to backup everything with one click (app + settings).
Sincerely,
