Is there a way to extract apk's from /app-private/ without rooting my phone? There is an app there from my Telco that I use to pay my bill.
I tried several back up programs but none seemed to 'pick' it up.

Hello. Even if I was a little concerned, decided to accept Kies' offer to update my firmare. I backed up all my Tab with Titanium. But after update I'm no more able to root my Tab. Z4ROOT fails and even if all my apps are there untouched, those that need root previleges don't work anymore. I've read about new boot loaders and other changes in new fws. Please someone tell me I can recover root status...

Use chainfires app to check for bootloaders. Remove the bootloaders using his app if you have them. Read the thread before you use his app and understand the risks involved although no one has bricked their tabs by using his app. Then check your root again.

I'm trying to root the Verizon RAZR M via the motofail2go method but it isn't working. The bat file installed superuser as a system app but I do not have root. Does anyone know of any alternative method to get this thing rooted? I just want to be able to use all my favorite apps on this thing.

I was messing around freezing apps in titanium backup and accidentally uninstalled s finder. Does anyone have an apk that I can install?

Just grab THIS ROM and pull the file from it, then move it into system/app, change permissions to match the other files and reboot.
You're probably better off.

I have att s4 on tmobile service
How in the world do we get the root tether mod to work...
Ive tried the provision apk method. .
Disabled hot spot still no luck.
Is there a 100% working method for tether with root.
Trevemod? Anything?

You tried these instructions? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535141
And you made sure your T-Mobile APN is set right? You might have to check the T-Mobile section, the provision APK could be carrier specific, but I've no evidence on that myself. Just a guess.
The carrier data being used on the att s4 phone I believe is irrelevant. .
Its the block in the phones file system
I know on tmobile s4 you can trevemod
Ive tried foxfi treve mod apks many tether apks.
I am rooted I have perfect lte data.
Theres No up to date info on it.
If you Google about it there's talk about this in march.

I have the exact same issue, now that I have moved up to MK2, and using it on TMOUS. I would love to hear of somebody that doesn't get the invalid SIM message, and got it to work.
Work trips are a hassle without a means to tether.

I got it to work all you have to do is not mess up on one step.
Download the modified tether provision apk from the general forum
First go to the settings/Application Manager/all find AT&T hotspot click Disable
Next
Rename the 2 existing files using a root browser like rom toolbox
Rename existing tetherprovision.apk
To tetherprovision.bak
And rename the odex file to
Tetherprovision.bak2
Go back to the file explorer and find the downloaded new tether provision apk
In whatever folder you download it too
Copy the new modified tether provision apk into the same folder that you rename the files.
Make sure you set the permissions correctly.
Next
Reboot the phone the trick to getting it to work is go back to settings Application Manager all find the AT&T hotspot and enable it again.
So all in all the trick is to disable it before you make the Rename changes then reboot then re enable it then give it a shot it works.

Hi all.
I've had my S5 for a few weeks now and I want to root it, is it possible to do so without losing all my stuff that is already on it?

Root is patching you current firmware without altering your current phone state.
if rooting goes well you won't lose anything.
If you fear, use Helium backup for apps and app data,
and also manually backup your internal storage to your computer in case anything goes wrong.
