Accidentally uninstalled s finder - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was messing around freezing apps in titanium backup and accidentally uninstalled s finder. Does anyone have an apk that I can install?

Just grab THIS ROM and pull the file from it, then move it into system/app, change permissions to match the other files and reboot.

You're probably better off.

WiFi Tablet Z 4.2.2 OTA Install Issue

I got the notification today that the 4.2.2 update was ready to be downloaded and installed on my 16gb WiFi XTZ. I downloaded it and when I attempted to install it it would reboot into the android update screen (Android guy with the roatating "sphere" thing) and the status bar would move to maybe the 9-10% area and then the tablet would reboot. When it turned on it would say there was an error installing. I tried twice with being rooted, then I temporarily unrooted with voodoo ota root keeper and tried it twice more with no success. Any advice? And no I don't want to use the PC companion because I'll lose root.

Did you edit any file in the system folder?
I had this issue today.. And after replacing the files I edited with the original once.
The update succeeded.
Would any of the xposed framework mods cause this?

Possibly, you could try deactivating them and uninstalling them and then uninstalling the framework, just remember to start uninstalling the framework in the Xposed app.

Yeah lol I posted it and immediately uninstalled it and installed the update. While the update hasn't completed yet, it is much farther along than previous attempts.

Did any of you modify ANY system files, either before or after a factory reset?
I've rooted the device and changed the font..only this..
And uninstalled some bloatware with titanium..

That's your problem.
OTA will not work if the /system partition has been modified. Restore ALL bloatware and fonts then OTA will work.
Alternatively, re-flash a stock .370 firmware for your region, re-root, then OTA.
Ok thanks i wanna try

How to re-flash stock? Some tutorial? I only uninstall Chrome y think.

Prevention information and wifi don't work

Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers appi just got the phone. I have only rooted it, installed titanium backup and restore from my s3. I keep having this prevention information warning come up, and my wifi won't turn on. Any suggestions?

This has been cleared already and not the place to post this question but anyways. Check your setting about device. Take a screenshot and post it here. It just could be you have two different firmwares on your phone.

If its what I think. Where it says you have to reboot. You have to go I to system/app with a root browser and delete Knox apk. As far as WiFi try flashing a different kernel.

I am rooted and am using all sorts or apps like nova and texted.

Don't take the update, you'll lose root. Open titanium backup and freeze sdm 1.0 to stop the update notifications.

You are correct, I lost root.
I am a noob when it comes to android. I came from the Iphone world. Can I re flash with the De vaga? To get root back?
Frooze it with Titanium Backup Pro
I frooze the SDM part with Titanium backup. I hope this works - this morning I delayed the update to 5pm so I hope when this time rolls around that I won't be bothered with the update. I am running the N900VVRUBMI9 baseband version and really hope that the safestrap method works and that we soon get custom roms that will make this a thing of past.

DO NOT DO THIS. Flashing back to MI9 from the new update will fail in odin and at worst will softbrick you and you'll need to flash the pit file

Software Update

Okay so pretty simple question I know that if you have titanium backup pro that you can just freeze the software update app but I don't have it so I was wondering either a)is their any other way to freeze it or b)if I delete the app(I will obviously back it up) will the update stop showing up/Will anything stop working?
Thanks in advance

Just rename FOTA.apk/LGFOTA.apk to .bak - no need to back up or delete.

Root without losing everything?

Hi all.
I've had my S5 for a few weeks now and I want to root it, is it possible to do so without losing all my stuff that is already on it?

Root is patching you current firmware without altering your current phone state.
if rooting goes well you won't lose anything.
If you fear, use Helium backup for apps and app data,
and also manually backup your internal storage to your computer in case anything goes wrong.
