good android for blackstone like ( HTC DESIRE ) - Touch HD General

i have a sense like (HTC DESIRE) its the best till now but cant load contacts from simcard and a bit slow ,, others all work :
http://www.4shared.com/file/9BR-0QsP...pped_ENHA.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/ygnfLrKv...pped_ENHA.html
you have to download both parts and then extract them and put them into root storage card ....
can someone fix the contacts load from simcard and increase speed ,,, thanks

dude ffs, learn to read.
At least attempt to read a topic before posting question, which has also been asked in the wrong place btw.

what you mean learn to read i have tried all the androids available in this forum but all are buggy ,, i saw all the posts ,, thats why i asked again for a good one if there is one !!!

ergh, have you tried this, for instance? i guess not.
in this build:
phone works
3g internet works
sms works
and even wi-fi works
and even gps works
and even battery lives quite long enough

I disagree.
Though it (2.1 V2.5a) is one of the best builds yet, its still very unstable.
Battery life is short.
It hangs. Straight up Dies. And cannot be woken up.
Transitions even with spare parts tweaked can be laggy.
Ive tried tweaking the startup.txt a little to no avail.
I too am eagerly looking for an android build that can even remotely be accepted as a daily use OS.

If you read the topics, you should know there isn't any "good daily use build" yet!

Yes unfortunately there is no Android which can be used as a daily OS and it is still a work in progress all you can do rite now is help the community by posting the results of your findings and bugs[ofcourse make sure the bugs have already been posted] rather than asking which one to use

thanks for your replies ,, ill wait till i we get a good android OS ,,
and by the way i tried the 2.5a but as you said there is no good OS ,,

For me, it's the worst Android OS i've ever seen.
All the Androids i tested, worked fine, but this doesn't boot.
After 30min waiting i gave up.

Dude, what is the point in starting a topic, waiting till loads of people have posted replies and then completley changing the OP and subject?
Why not just create a new topic on new subject???

tell me what you want me to do ,, if you want me to delete the whole thing ,, i will

1st time you have to wait for about 15 min ,, then it will be faster

Ditching the X1, getting a new phone

Well after 3 weeks of use I have had it with my X1. It is the slowest phone I have ever come across.
Here are the problems im getting and I have just had enough of them
Phone can freeze when switching between landscape & portrait. Can take up to 2 minutes to figure out what its doing, sometimes its a hard reset
Fidilly interface, I use the SPB panel because of this which is great but everything else is just useless. Tried setting an alarm by rotating the hands? Its so fidily
I get a new message while im on my inbox and sometimes the message takes up to 2 minutes to load. Last night I was waiting 1minutes 43seconds for the message to open (yes I timed it) It just had that piechart icon rotating
Sometimes I cant open the messaging section. I click messaging and nothing happens. I can try to open it as many times as I want but nothing happens. I have to remove the battery..
By screen went green once, everything was green so I had to remove the battery to sort the problem
Doesnt always sync with my PC, no idea why
Cant remove hotmail contacts or sort the contact list because it just adds all my email contacts when I go online
Opera & IE are clunky and full of bugs. IE is slow as hell and cant open some websites. Opera keeps opening the virtual keyboard and changing between fullscreen and menu mode
Panels take a lifetime to load and freeze when switching between view modes
The crappy external speaker, who wants to hear a song full of white noise when you phone rings?
Battery icon - sometimes I have one, sometimes I dont
My signal on my phone seems poor compared to my old LG Viewty. Where I had a decent 3g signal I now get a poor standard signal, if a signal at all
Phone seems to have gotten slower and slower since I first started it up
There are a lot of things I do really like about the X1 but most of these are hardware such as the keyboard, the screen resolution, build quality, wifi, gps etc
I am seriously considering either swapping my phone via o2 or selling it and buying a new phone. I dont understand why interfaces and phones cant be as fluent as the iphone/ipod.
It does a lot of stuff yet the interface is as fast as hell. I am not a fan of the iphone itself due to its rubbish hardware specs but you can't knock the interface. Also I just got an ipod touch so there isn't much point in me having an iphone.
Personally i think the problem lies with WinMo as its very bloated and slow compared to proprietry operating systems or Android/iPhone.
Can anyone recommend me a good phone to get, I was looking at the Samsung Omnia but it doesnt have Wifi or GPS so its a no go really
Dude you must have a faulty phone, I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and haven't had most of the problems you have raised. However it was laggy and slow when I first got it and I still don't think the panels work fast enough to be really usable but once I changed the ROM it was MUCH better, more responsive, Opera actually makes browsing online a good experience!

The only faulty thing about it is the firmware, and when I went down that road with my Viewty being buggy as hell I got into the biggest of arguements with my network provider.
They didn't get what I was saying, they keep offering me the same phone as a replacement etc etc and I was nearly thrown of the network as they just winded me up so much.
This phone had high expectations from me and I have to say, it failed miserably. I decided to go back to SE after my LG as they were some of the best phones I had. But this phone just doesnt compare and I personally think its WinMo thats letting it down
i never experience any of the problems you mentioned above. May be it is a faulty unit.
Either a faulty unit, or filled with network bloatware! In short... not a problem of Xperia. When switching landscape to portrait it takes a second for me usually... at most 2-3 seconds. Same goes for other stuff.
I wasn't impressed with my Xperia at the beginning either... but after applying a few tweaks here and there and installing applications and stuff, it is by far the best phone ever! (and i am using the original rom - no cooked rom)
Maybe you should try installing a cooked ROM?
Either way... good luck with whatever phone you do decide to go with. I can, however, say with 99.999% certainty that most problems that you are facing are either due to a faulty device/firmware or is due to bloatware or something...
I did have the exact problems here, also did 3 of my friends who baught the phone.
It is crashing alot and is slow. However I think I will wait till the first firmware update.
But even if they didn't fix these problems, I don't really have an alternative phone, no phone has the specs I want except experia. I mean ofcourse other than win mo, because if it is a win mo phone you are seeking then know that all the win mo phones have the exact same problems, maybe less because they have been around in the market for a longer time, but they still do crash.

Good luck with that. I hope you get it working perfectly! This is definitely a wonderful device and the fastest WinMo device.
I've never had the need to flash my set, so afraid don't know anything about it... otherwise would have offered to guide you through.
I have original rom and I think the phone is great! fast and solid!
101% something's wrong with YOUR phone only... althought i have my grumbles, but not so bad at all
Get O2 to reflash it, they will do it for free if you complain about lockups

It's easy, just install hard-spl and then choose from the xperia rom forum one that you like (my preference for now is Itje's HD v2.1).
Follow closely the instructions on the Hard-SPL and rom thread you choose and it will be a breeze.
I just flashed it to IT-Xperience 2.1 and the phone is a hell of a lot faster.
good for you . I am planning to buy Xperia so it will be nice to hear what problems still occur after the update

first honeymoon with a windows device is not going well:(

Hello guys,
For the past few days I have been experiencing few annoying problem
1) My phone has slowed down considerably though i did not install any new software.
2) My Mails don't open with a just clicking rather I have to manually open the inbox
3) The battery drain is so huge that on a single charge my device just gives me 1 hrs of calling and 5-6 of standby.
4) HTC support says the current ROM update is not there as i have a no contract device. current ROM version is 1.48.831.0 dated 11/09/09
Any help would be greatly appreciated coz my first honeymoon with a windows device is not going well
P.S. - I have 7 mail accounts and secondly my EDGE is always on.
hey... well having edge on all the time is not helping at all with battery life... I am surprised you get as much.. try staying in gsm and switch to edge only if you really need to... also 7 mail accounts is also quite a lot and with them sending and receiving all the time, its normal to have some slow downs every now and then...
did you try any of the custom roms? most of them claim improved battery life
Interesting issues.
I leave my phone on 3G/HSDPA and I can get a full day (7a-12a) with heavy usage:
1) 24/7 connected: PUSH emails from exchange
2) Back and forth email convos
3) 1hr of calls
4) 1-2hrs of browsing
5) 1-2hrs of internet radio
6) 10-15min Gmaps GPS
7) Occasional youtube video/camera shot
In terms of your issues... lets try some things in order
1) Remove any SD card, see how it works.
2) Hard reset, get set back up, see how it works.
3) Flash a new rom since yours is old! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477)
IMO, I would jump straight to 3, but up to you.
thanks a lot guys for your advice. but being a first time user I still have some apprehensions and hope u all under stand
1) What are custom roms and how do they help and most important thing do i have to pay for them.
2) I know hard resetting will kill all my data is there any way i can make a back-up on my memory card itself and then restore from it as was in nokia communicator
3) Is re flashing the rom similar to the software update done on nokia devices or something diffrent.
4) Mr. mazzarin u adviced me to get a new ROM but HTC support says that I cant so plz it would be very kind if you could elaborate
I'm sorry for being a pain but u know for a first time user how it feels if ur device jacks up.
bhumbro,
Your learning curve is HUGE . I suggest you take one step at a time.
First off read the Hints & Tips thread on here. There are a number of solutions in there that will make your device experience better.
Next is to familiarise yourself with our HD forums and glean as much information as possible so you understand what's going on. This is important, especially if you decide you want to try out custom roms. BTW you don't have to pay for these but all the ROM developers appreciate a donation as a thank you for their hard work.
Once you have read up a little do come back and we will do our best to sort out any problems you have with understanding certain concepts. Also try and get used to your device first, know what it can do, before jumping into changing roms.
To search on XDA use this to help you...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all So if you search for "Backing up my data" , for example, you will find a load of info on this.
Hope this helps.

1) Custom ROMs are modified versions of official HTC ROMs that may be tweaked for faster speed or have additional functions. They are free! But donations are welcome. Head over to the HD2 ROM Development forum and you'll see a bunch of choices.
2) I don't back up my data because my Exchange account takes care of 90% of what matters (and the rest is just entering my login data for facebook, youtube, etc.) I would recommend doing some searches like wacky.banana said. I think Microsoft MyPhone does something like this *BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD ON THAT!*
3) Similar, yes.
4) Right. Officially, you cannot. However, if you go to that thread I linked in my original post, it walks you through the process of getting rid of that restriction. Again, like wacky.banana said, you have a decent learning curve ahead of you, but do a lot of reading over in the ROM Development forum, ask a lot of questions, and start flashing when and if you feel you are ready.

How well does your HD2 run?

Well, I got my HD2 to run Android okay, I guess. It does run better then the Vibrant. . .
But, my battery life sucks and I have no file transfer while running Android due the damn OS being on the SD card.
The WMO has all kinds off little glitches. . . . The battery life is half decent. But, there are no apps and it feels like Windows.
Anyone out there with a HD2 running at 100%? And if there is, it is hard to believe.
Uh...yeah? Mine runs pretty damn great with a custom WinMo ROM applied(Energy)...haven't soft reset in weeks. And there are applications for Windows...you just have to think outside the market
Well, the Wmo runs way smoother over time. . .
I am also running a Energy ROM. . . It's still has some glitchiness to it though.

Mine runs awesome on the stock 3.14 ROM. It also runs awesome with a stripped 3.14 ROM and the Bluetopia 1.0.4 Android Build. I am getting about 12 hours of heavy use and more than a day if I turn off my data when I'm not using it. These phones are what you make them. You just have to try a lot of things out.
Out of the box with the stock rom they weren't awesome. Touch response was great, but it froze a lot. Then they updated the rom and it had ****ty touch response but didn't freeze. So people cooked ROMs with 2.10 touch drivers. Then they came out with 3.14 and everything worked.
On top of this, there are a ton of stable Winmo cooked ROMS to choose from.
And as of recent, there are flawless Android builds out there that run perfect with 3.14 stock ROM and lot of cooked ROM's as well. I prefer a stripped down 3.14 ROM for Android only use.
If Tmobile ever comes out with an Android native phone that is as nice as my HD2, I'll pick it up. Mostly because I know that WinMO 6.5 is dying and because the Android market is WAY bigger with better programs and utilities. I would end up keeping my HD2 and running WinMO only on it. I would also continue to play with it. I love to get my nerd on and the HD2 is the perfect phone for tinkering. But, I don't know when that will be. Not losing my screen size or the build quality/hardware awesomeness and I haven't seen anything comparable yet.
I don't mind rebooting into Windows to transfer to my SD card, but I'm also fine with shutting it down and pulling the card out and using an adapter. I guess it would be easier if you could just do it through Android but this isn't an Android native phone and it seems acceptable to me.
In the beginning my leo was a worthless pos, somehow over time it has begun to operate much smoother. A few downloads from this and a few other sites have straightened out some flaws
Be careful posting "issues" with your leo, you'll find that some loose cannon members on forums become extremely unstable and will begin kung fu flaming you until you never want to see another smartphone ever again.
then tear into your mom.
kick your dog/cat
etc.
Lol. . . . Flaming I can take. . .
Well, a few ROM's later I seem to have my HD2 running even better.
The file transfer is weak but like stated above, it is what it is.
A stripped down ROM really seems to best way to go for running Android.
I was also having major battery issues and today I finally found out why. I was using HandCent SMS. What it did was, it would wake up the phone and stay stuck at a 60 mA draw.
Removed the app and installed GO SMS, which has less then 1/3rd of the features of HandCent, but it does not hang up my phone.
So, it is getting better with time.
As far as hardware the HD2 is only second to the HD7(which just looks amazing).
But, the software is what makes the HD7 a 4.3" display having paperweight.
What are you guys talking about ? You can transfer files while booted in Android even if it is in the SD card.. Pull out your SD card while Android is on and it will still work.. I can transfer files fine.. Just change the mode from charge to disk mode..

I feel like a dumb ass. I didn't even notice the disk drive option. Thanks.
Is it safe to do since everything is installed on the card to copy to it while the OS is running? I assumed it didn't work and would not be a good idea. I didn't try to transfer anything, but it does work. I guess since the OS is actually running off the internal memory after you run Haret that it's cool. I just never really thought that much about it.

My HD2 runs great. I use Core Cell Evo v4.1 on the WinMo side and use Darkstone Froyo Sense v3.2 on the Android side...works great for me.
I transfer files quite a lot and no problems.
If you eject your sd card it will continue to work but, when you install sd card again most things won't work and, then will lock up (I tried that and I have to pull battery, then reboot).
I did notice if you leave it hooked to your PC (disk drive) and don't use the default ringtones, they will default to them in Disk Drive mode.
My HD2 runs so well using BlueTopia that it has replaced my G2 as my primary.device I carry two phones, 1 for work and 1 for personal use.

why is dead battery causing so much issues on custom roms?

original roms dont seem to suffer from these issues.
every custom rom i tried(nand and SD) had same issues after battery went dead.
isnt there a safety shutdown feature that can be added to prevent this?
Nand roms shouldn't be so bad, I have run my battery dead a bunch of times on my phone with UD 3.0.0 RC1, and never has it caused a problem. But running the battery dead on an SD build is where you can get big problems, because the entire system loads from the SD card, and by letting the battery run dead, Android doesn't get a chance to unload properly, as the card is still being written to when shutdown takes place, alot of the time corrupting the sd card or the Android directory or the data.img

The issue isnt the ROMs, its a MAGLDR bug. Phone cant charge under magldr.
Workaround: Boot into MAGLDR and then into CWM. Charges under CWM.
OR
Change from MAGLDR to CLK

Wasn't the question...
Anyway, some apps store data on the sd card, when it shuts down suddenly due to empty battery, this data can get corrupted (That's why most roms don't use DATA2Ext but App2SD+, to prevent this). That's why most (if not, all) NAND Roms don't have this issue (at least, It never occurred to me) but SD roms do, as huggs explained.
isnt it possible to make an app that shuts off the phone i nstead of letting it die?
I use an ext4 with DarkTremor's A2SD script and never had corruption from running out of battery. I could just be lucky, idk.

man this is BS it has to be plugged inconstantly in order to keep it alive its like my sony laptop with a 2.4 ghz pentium processor and bigass screen.
the battery only lasted 3 hours.
i go to work and leave the phone untouched for the whole day the battery goes to half thats the ONLY way i can make it last till the end of work day.
if i even think about txting or writing an email or god forbid browse internet that **** drops to almost dead batery instantly.
and sometimes i dont have a charger so the phone dies because it cant shut down on its own.
and to add to that theres a GREAT!!!!! feature that conveniently turns the screen on and turns off all the power saving features such as dim screen.
so it turns the phone on starts buzzing and screen on full brightness, to let me know that my battery is dying WTF really???

We at XDA made Android available for an aging phone of yours at *NO COST* involved, If you have a problem live with it until we learn how to fix it. And if this seems too unbearable, just STFU and stay with HTC stock WM6.5 rom.
if you make a ruler you make it exact.
even if you give it away for free.
you dont make a ruler that measures 1 inch short...because people depend on it.
i just hate all these BS claims about the system beeing stable when its not even close.
i installed android because i thought it was ok for everyday use by someone that doesnt sit here on this board for hours trying to keep up to speed with all the latest updates.
im very happy that this android development extended the life of a factory crippled phone but dont tell me that im the only one having this issue.
u have no idea how many times this thing freezes up right when i need it. when im in the car driving and need to use google maps but cant because this **** is bugging out.
or now for example it doesnt even load up sense it gives me the com.htc.bgp force close.
im very fn tired of this loading and unloading of cooked roms and actually looking for a phone that came with android.
like i said if you make something, EVEN IF ITS FREE, you are still responsible for making it work because people depend on it. and i dont have 2-3 hours a day to spend reading through this board trying to make my phone work again.
you can hate me or disagree i dont give a faq this is my opinion.

Wow, you're an ungrateful bastard (to quote the 'you are a noob on XDA Developers video) IMO. How can you not appreciate what the Devs here are doing? They put in hours and hours of work, and you still don't appreciate how brilliant it has made the HD2?! Please, make us a perfect ROM, and share it with us, so that you can show us your perfect skills. Don't you read up on the issues of each ROM before flashing it?
Also, the system is EXTREMELY stable. My CM7 HD2 is far faster than my friend's DesHD. I get better battery life and it's just faster in general. You should really be more appreciative of the hard work of the brilliant devs here and also, before accusing people of BS and lying, think about whether it may be a problem with you.
Please, give your HD2 to someone with the mental capability to use it.

faulty phone/battery.
yea thats what comcast says every time i make a trouble call
oh ur modem is bad... only to find out that their network has problems again and again.
my battery is fine and so is the phone.
it worked without a hitch for 4-5 months untill battery died first time. since then the problems just been piling up.
and finally today it wouldnt even show the home screen.
so again for the 4th time i lost all my new contacts and whatever information i had on it because it cant shut down properly when its dead.
im picking up an htc sensation that has android already on it so i dont have to deal with this bs no more.
and **** you MR public defender i never said i hate the developers and in any way ungratefull. i was trying to figure out how to deal with this problem untill people started accusing me of beeing ungratefull.
i know what it takes to make this work and have alot of respect for people that do it. but you put urself in my shoes maybe for a second.
i have my office on this phone and whenver it doesnt work i cant do **** anymore.
i had txt messages, notes, phone numbers etc saved here that i wasnt able to recover and had to reset my phone in order to make it work again.
spent 5 hours trying to make it work since yesterday so now tell me how the faq am i supposed to feel after dealing with this crap.
i switched to this phone because everyone claims its STABLE. yea stable untill your battery dies and then **** starts happening...
i went through 6 different roms that means every time i have to spend hours setting my customizations etc and saving the data that i have on it.
how convenient is that.
beeing faster doesnt mean its more stable btw...

Should i convert from WIN6.5 to Android ?

Hello all,
Firstly a big thank you to all on this site for offering such a fantastic platform to rebuild our priced gadgets to something which is more user friendly...
I aint no techie but in the past have used this site to upgrade the ROM/RADIO for my HTC HD2 phone as was constantly facing a drop in signal and the phone booting up etc...
My current details are as listed below:
OS 5.2.21913(21913.5.0.94)
Manila version 2.5.20181527.1
Rom version 3.14.161.3 (04666) WWE
Rom date 15Dec 2010
Radio version 2.15.50.14
Protocol version 15.42.50.11U
some of my queries:
- I am thinking of converting this to a complete Android OS... Is this possible on the above specs ?
- Is the benefit with Android only to do with additional applications available in the MARKET (WIN6.5 hardly has any and most are charged!) or will i get a better connectivity/signal strength and a better battery life ?
- I noticed on a few forums about a dual boot with Android on the SD card but am not keen on booting the phone every now and then.. would rather stick to one - Android or W6.5
- I do have a problem with the phone sometimes while browsing with Opera or IE. The phone heats up a lot and then just shuts off or the screen freezes and I need to open the battery slot, get the battery out, reinsert and then start the phone all over again. Its quiet sad thing and yet I love the damn phone!
I apologize in advance in case if I have posted this wrongly in this forum. Kindly point me to the right direction, as always...
Cheers!

Do it, there is a tool that can do it for you without much hassle, nice simple gui. I would suggest doing the nand android method instead of booting from sd.

oh dear, that doesn't sound good, I'd suspect overheating leading to hardware faults. As an example I can browse and listen to music all day long with very little temperature change. Winmo or android.

Summary,,, if you want to change, change, if you don't, don't. Android wont make the phone "better" but it will give you new stuff to play with.
That being said I'd be wary of too much flashing since it sounds like you have possible hardware problems on the horizon,,be a shame to get stuck in an unflashable state.
hello guys... thank you both for your encouragement... would rather flash the phone and play around with something new instead of letting it die a natural death...
Whats the latest version of the NAND ANDROID that you guys recommend ? ne links on it with a detailed description...step by step... i aint a techie remember..
thanks for the views and responses...
Cheers!
I had the same dilemma a few days ago, ended up putting on the NAND rom of android and it obviously a lot better to play around with than winmo but the battery life is not as good as with winmo on. Still lasts a couple of days on standby with a little bit of use.
The rom I would reccommend is the one I flashed, Typhoon cyanogen mod 7 without sense but every thing works perfectly on it so far.
Here's a link to it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Once you have installed it set the cpu with SetCpu app to about 800 mhz and it works fine without getting overly hot.

Also, by tweaking the CPU VDD levels you will provide to keep your phone colder and squeeze some more juice from the battery: you can find all the instructions on the first page of Tyween's thread (the link above).
hi there... thanks both for your response... is the version provided in your message the latest files/version that is available for download or are there any other versions to look around for ?
Before flashing I plan to save my contacts with msn mobile... it saves my contacts and sms's... will i be able to recover it in the same format after i upload android ?
noticed on some forums that gsensor is a problem... does it impact the functioning so much on android ?
One of you mentioned 'sense' will not work on android... does that mean the seamless touch that is there on w6.5 will no longer be applicable...
requesting all this information just to be double sure b4 going ahead with something major like this...
are there any video tutorials on this ? the link as so many sublinks... i am thoroughly confused...
thanks in advance for your response...
The version of android is 2.3.5, the latest version at the moment I think.
The G sensor works fine on mine I have been playing games which use the sensor.
The phone touch will work fine its just you won't have the htc customization of clocks etc.
I'm not sure about saving contacts but if you could somehow save the contacts with a Google account it would be straight forward getting them onto android.
So to sum up everything seems to work fine as it would on Android though the battery doesn't last as long, but it still lasts a considerable time for a smartphone.
If you follow the link for the Rom I posted, in there, there is a instruction document made by someone which is very easy to follow. Just follow it step by step and you should be just fine.
PS make sure you backup anything you require before starting the process.
Good Afternoon
A friend of mine wants to install Android onto his device and wants me to do it for him as he doesn't want to mess it up.
Is there any sort of idiot guide to show me how to do this, I don't think it'll be easy as when I update the ROMs on my Desire HD
Also which build would one recommend, I want something he can use wiht any issues if possible.
Thanks in advance
hi ryan,
thanks for your revert mate... and clarifying about the gsensor. When you say the standard HTC application like 'clock etc' will not be there... would that take away the weather background which I so like... is there something similar available in the android market to download at a later stage (i love the weather thing HTC has to offer)...
Never tried google to synchronize my phone contacts... is it done through USB or over the air using 2G or something like that (sorry am quiet a novice with gmail!). Will it sync my sms's too... ?
I have changed my battery and no longer use the original HTC one... as it would drain out in a few hours inspite of me using the phone sparingly. I now use a chinese battery from the last few months and it lasts me a good 1.5-2days at max...
Will my service provider in India 'Loop Mobile' be able to send me the new settings that are compatible with android ? Being a weekend I don't want to loose out on contact sync in the middle of the night if the data plan is not activated again...ne suggestions would be appreciated..
There is a clock-weather app in the market which is similar to HTC sense's.
Not sure how google sync works with winmo you would have to figure that out.
About the service proivder I can't be 100% sure as my first android rom on SD didn't work straight away with T-mobile uk but this typhoon one worked straight away, but if you had setting on winmo you should be able to get it on android.

Follow the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
and under install tutorials use the clean installation guide, which I used and it tells you step by step what to do, remember to download all the required files first which are all in the link.
Hi, use "SpriteMigrate" to transfer your sms from winmo to android.
I prefer Typhoon, here:

hi there... i just checked up the "spritemigrate" site and they have closed their FREE BETA application... what a shame as it seemed like the perfect solution to my problem of storing sms/contacts before flashing the phone...
any other options ?
cheers and thanks for writing in mate...
hi there again... as mentioned in my earlier posts... i have sync my phone to msn mobile and hence all my contacts and sms's are backed up every night on msn... once i move to android.. will i be able to sync the phone again just as i did with w6.5 ?
I do have a gmail account but not sure if they have the feature of storing sms's along with the contacts in google mobile. I am frustrated trying to figure out an option for contacts and sms's together.. any help would be appreciated...
cheers!
Oh Lord... I am so frustrated... spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out to save contacts and sms's online somewhere before i flash my phone but sadly no luck... just realised msn-my phone service has been deactivated and most other services are paid services...
Guess this is the only thing that is stopping me now from flashing the phone inspite of downloading most of the required files...
My last attempt - any help guys ?!?!?
thanks in advance...
Cheers!
Hi Enigma075, a little off topic but watch out with flashing in case the issues that you've described get worse. The symptoms you're describing, phone heating and screen unresponsive are exactly what happened to my HD2 recently. A week or two after it started the screen became entirely unresponsive and now HTC are (hopefully) fixing it.
Have a search on google, a few other people have encountered this as well.
I recommend trying SD first.
Note that some users reported NAND android to cause bad blocks in the NAND. so if anything bad happens, you might not be able to flash windows again. Read a lot about specific NAND build before you try them.
SD builds cause bad blocks on SD card, which is easily repairable. on NAND, it's not easy, if possible.
hello Dr. Move & Wsummers,
thank you both for responding to my post. I guess I would go in for the SD first as its getting extremely frustrating to save my contacts somewhere and then put it back again on NAND plus the tension of bricking the phone completely...
Are you able to advise me on the latest link on the SD version ? Have a few questions on this method:
- Will the phone become slow in terms of usage ?
- Will I have to reload the contacts again when i boot it to the sd android mode ?
- Whats the battery response like ?
Thanks again for your insights...
Cheers!
you can use titanium backup to backup your contacts, it'll save you quite sometime. alternatively, you can export your contacts to your SD and reload them again on the SD version.
Newer SD build are quite fast in terms of usage, not as fast as the NAND, but the difference is barely noticeable.. but that depends on how you use your device. Note that some games may not work on certain SD versions.
You can try the two versions in my sig, I've tried both for more than a month, and they're quite stable.
Battery consumption in standby is low in new builds, I get around 7 mA/h when the phone is on and 3 mA/h on airplane mode. some people experience even lower values. it depends more on your SD, and the network coverage.
in hourly terms, you'll lose ~1% per hour, and ~1% every two hours on airplane mode.
if you have any problems regarding the SD version, you can check my troubleshooter (in my sig), or ask me directly
