Hello,
I have a strange problem, Opera 9.7 (the one installed with the rom) works OK with WiFi, but Opera Mobile 10 (installed from Opera's website) doesn't work with it and instead re-activates data connection all by itself.
I searched the forum for this problem but didn't find an answer about how to make it detect the WiFi connection.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Regards,
i've also noticed this problem
okay,
I had to do a hard reset, and now it seems to work (at least it did yesterday, ı'll retry later, not at home right now).
so either they released a new build, which I doubt since it has the same build number, or...
Or it has to be installed *with wifi on*. that's the only thing thay may have changed from the last time I installed it.
Does this work for anybody else ?
opera mobile 10 (newest release) works just fine on wifi for me.

Hello.. I recently noticed that my wi-fi did not detect any networks. (e.g my home netowrk).. I thought that it would be problem wih the settings so I waited for a rom upgrade.
Still, however, (after rom upgrade to the latest) when I use a program like sniffy no networks are seen.. how can I check whether my wi-fi works properly (propet has fallen down a couple of times I hope nothing was broken in the process).. is there a reliable wifi autodetection rogram?
Thanks in advance!
Maybe this is not the right answer but try the links in this page.

Hello, I have an AT&T 8525 that I installed this official WM6 HTC TYTN rom onto:

At first I didn't have any issues with WIFI, but now I cannot even get any data to download. I am connected according to Comm manager and all other settings. I have another device (PPC 6700) that connects fine and is superfast so it is not the router. I want to avoid a hard reset or flashing a new rom because I have everything set up nicely with a lot of apps as well. Does anyone know what the issues is???
Thanks!
Also, I loaded Opera Mobile onto the phone yesterday, then decided I didn't like it and removed it, and then tried to connect WIFI. Wouldn't work, don't know if that was the problem though?? I tried to reinstall and remove Opera twice and WIFI still isn't working.
Anybody having problems with the skyfire browser? I cant seem to use skyfire at all today. problem started this morning and still isnt working right now.
Everytime i launch skyfire it just says "connecting......" or sometimes its stuck in "Authenticating...."
All my other programs that uses internet is working fine (besides PIE, still wont work)
so i was wondering if anybody else is experiencing this problem. I have the latest skyfire beta software and using joshkoss' v11 manila2d rom. And i tried this with both wifi connection and regular data connection through 3g.
They have been upgrading their servers. It is up again for me now...
0.85.0.79 works fine
No issues today...
The question is... when it becomes a shareware, couldn't we authenticate anymore????
I experimented the Skyfire browser on my Samsung i907 and it crashes a lot. I guess it is a compability issue with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
I there.. i Have the sane problem... the first time i runned, it work great, but... then when i tried to execute the program it freeze on authentication screen, and it freeze the whole system too... i tried to unninstall it and reinstalled, but it doesn´t work... the browser it´s really cool, the first time i used tu see a movie on Megavideo, so i´m a little dissapointed about that problem.. and i just want my skyfire back.. hehe...
please help.

i don´t see radio version, if i got it..
Hi, I am new to this forum and am having a few problems with the Opera browser that comes pre-installed on the Touch HD (9,5 Build 2682).
I have tried searching the forum but can not find any reference to the problem I am having.
Quite often the browser will not load any page. The green progress bar at the bottom starts to move then just sits there and the page is not loaded. (Every other data application will work so its not a data connection problem)
If I soft reset it will browse ok again.
Another problem is that when I connect via wifi, the browser seems to not use the wifi connection. When I search on Google for my ip address it returns a 212 address which belongs to Vodafone (my network). If I then open IE and do the same I get the correct IP of my dsl. I have tried this on a number of wifi points. This problem also shows up when I browse to the BBC iplayer web site as it will display “please connect via wifi” when the wifi is connected.
I have on a few random occasions streamed the iplayer material ok so, I assume it was then connected to the wifi ok, but most of the time it will say “please connect to wifi”
I tried installing the latest Opera from their web site (9.51b2). It shows up in the programs folder as Opera 9.5 Beta. This seemed to work ok on both GPRS and wifi, the first time I run it, but then after running the factory installed version it does the same thing and some times crashes and will no rerun until after a soft reset.
It is possible that having both versions is causing problems but I don’t see any way of removing the pre installed version as it does not show up in the “installed programs” list?
Anybody else get these problems?
Thanks
Regards
Jason
Further to the above, I have found that the only way to get the Opera browser to definately use the wifi is to turn the radio part of the phone off so there is no GPRS data connection.
If I just turn the wifi on the browser almost always ignores it and still connects via the GPRS data connection, then when I turn the wifi off again the browser will then sometimes fail to load any page until a soft reset.
I do not have any of these problems with I.E or Opera Mini but they are no way as good as the full Opera 9.5
Is anybody else having these problems with Opera or is it just me?
(P.S a colleague of mine has just installed the latest Opera version from their website on an old Vario and it did the same thing with wifi connected, ignored it and connected via the GPRS data connection. Does Opera have a big problem here?)
I have no problems with wifi access (it works ok), but I have experienced that Opera hangs while loading over the data connection (regardless G,E,3G and HSDPA, it actually doesn't load anything).
The trick is when it happens to go to the opera menu (the one in the lower right corner with Settings, Downloads, Page info etc...) and choose Exit. You will need to confirm that action. Start Opera again and voila it works. So no soft resets anymore. And it has no connection with the Opera config - I tried default and my settings for numerous things in config and it still hangs.
IE works fine anytime, any connection - so that eliminates windows or data connection problems.
I use WkTask and close Opera by its little x - perhaps sometimes it doesn't close Opera properly after the successful surfing and on the next run opera hangs while loading. I think that before WKtask I didn't experience such problems. I haven't tested it without WKtask once I noticed this hang so I may be wrong about the good old WKtask. Perhaps Opera needs to be closed through its Exit function?
I hope this trick works for you - cheers!
Opera 9.5 versions thread
To easily find all opera 9.5 versions in a single place go to this thread:

So you can choose the one that fits you
Thanks for the replies. I have sorted this problem now by flashing the rom with Duttys HD v1.9b XTREME.
This rom comes with opera version is 9.5 build 15613 which so far works as it should, uses wifi when its available and GPRS when its not. It also to date has not “got stuck” and failed to load a page (obviously when wifi or gprs is available)
(In fact the whole phone now works better with this rom but there are numerous threads already about this and how to flash!!)
Looks like build 2682 defiantly has a bug to me.

I think i've found the solution! Im using build 15613 so i don't know if this will work for the version that comes pre-installed. If it doesn't it's not hard to find build 15613.
In the TouchFLO interface:
Home / Settings / Communications / Settings / Wireless LAN / Power Mode tab / move slider to far left ( Best Performance )
I've tested it a few time and now opera uses wifi whenever it's available.
wifi works on some browser not with others
Hi All , I have a similar problem but mine is that when I use Opera browser it would use my wifi connection but if I use.. say Iris or Skyfire it uses my 3g data connection even though the wifi is still on. this is frustrating as data connection is expensive for me and I usually the wifi hotspots to do my surfing when I'm outdoors
any advice on how I can configure all browser to use wifi when available and only use data connection when its not available ... pls point me in the right direction on this, Im using stock ROM for HTC HD.
Cheers
Just got a jade and have rid myself of the horrible Orange UK ROM and flashed an HTC WWE ROM.
Can't get Opera to connect though. IE works fine as does Google maps and youtue.
Any ideas?
Well, I can only think it's bug in the ROM. Through havng around 6 different wndows mobile devices over he last year I have lot's of different Opera Mobile CABS.
Strangely some worked some didn't.
my opera only connect on GPRS how to disable so i want to connect on Wifi only?
