im not an evo person so ive never been to this section of xda. so ssooorrrrrryyyyy for attempting to be kind and post a funny vid.

Regardless if this being a general section, its still labeled Evo. That means general posts about the Evo, not funny youtube videos.

What is the deal with a ten post minimum to post in the development forums? So to prevent new people from spamming the development forums we require them to spam the main general forums to build fake post counts so they can contribute?
Its not to prevent spam, its more to prevent new members from filling up the dev forum with questions that have nothing to do with development.

Yes, but then people like me who realize that I shouldn't post every random thought or repeat the same question on every other page ends up having to post items like this so I can post relevent information in a development thread.
for example, in the new warm z thread there have been hundreds of posts asking for 4g in the gsm ported Rom. Looks like the ten post minimum doesn't work. Meanwhile, I have an actual observation and I get to spend the night building post count so I can add to the discussion.
if you would have searched you would have found the answer.
Kind of funny

Doesn'tThe answer what? I know the reason for the limitation, I am just expressing the fact that an arbitrary ten post minimum doesn't prevent stupid questions. This is shown in the large amount of similar questions in a thread when the first posts states that 4g is not available. This is not my question but an example of the futility of a ten post minimum.
Or are you referring to a search on how to get around the ten post Minimum?
Actually, you may have just missed the sarcasm of asking the question on the first place. It was either this post or lettering other posts will meaningless questions just to build up the post point so I can post an actual Observation.
The best part is having to wait five minutes on top of all this.

cant comment on Threads?

when i try to comment on threads in the development section it says i have to have 10 post in the Question thread. This is very annoying! is there some other way?

No way around it. I guess its to prevent questions from people who have just signed up for xda.
Yeah I have seen that when I attempt to reply in the mods section of the boards.

Yeah, I suggest just going to the General Discussion threads and contributing to the threads there. There's some simple ones there like post your emmc, or post what radio you're using, or post your homescreen and things of that sort.
Oh look at that, here's a link to a really easy one put up by me lol

But seriously though, if you want to post in the dev threads that badly, go try and help some people out in Q&A and General Discussions first. You might even learn some stuff from the threads there, I know I sure did.

[Q] Why the new users cant able to reply the threads.

Why like this.

Because some new users just spam in the threads then. The purpose of it is so that new members get acquainted with the rules and don't spam.
sooooo new users should first spam other threads to be able to post at dev section

Trust me... it doesn't work as it should... the will to spam is unbeatable...
Indeed, Spam is invincible... BTW, i have 13 post and still unable to post in dev section :S
To prevent spam, floods, trolls and threads like these on dev's area. Call it "learning time".
to lessened posts like yours

You are posting to wrong thead..
so mean new user need spam on Q&A first... hehe
No. See what happened to a certain user. Spammed tanx........... everywhere, boom! BAN. Newcomers can make everyone's life easier by just not spamming and following rules. Spam anywhere, get an infraction. But dev forum is the most important forum, so to prevent devs ragequitting, a protection against newbies should be put in place. Life on xda is simple. Just follow rules and don't spam.

Well............... yeah. And don't forget vixkes. Rotflol.
New to posting but not new to the site.
I've been using the dev threads now for a few months. I have been playing around with SD ROMs for my HD2 and this site is unquestionably brilliant. One of the ROMS I found works great. Two things, 1. a senior member posted that he was getting the same problem I had which I solved and wanted to help him. and 2. USB tethering isn't working in this ROM. Just wanted to ask. But can't help 1 and can't post a question for 2 to these really great developers because I haven't been here long enough...I have zero intention of spamming and will look for solutions to the tethering problem. I just want to help. So what do I need to do to become a safe and sane XDA member without offending anyone or spamming just to get past the 10 post barrier?

Easy. Just try out stuff or offer your view on something but WITHOUT posting pointlessly. Have fun on XDA .

bridge the gap

I understand the need for a post count before we can post in the development section but there also needs to be a way to get the info and issues that we are having until we get our post count up, I have been a member for a year now and have 3 post I search , read and learn do we just pm the mod in that forum?
Maybe a guideline for us under 10 post people to use to contact whom need be
Or we could just poast a bunch of times in this thread so we're over the threshold. I shoulda kept using my old account.
Simple fix is to have 10 posts... anything else becomes moot after that point. If you contribute info to the forums, getting to 10 should not be a problem.
There are more than enough forum topics outside of the development sections that are looking for feedback from users about their experiences etc.

yeah people post random garbage to get to 10 so they can post a question that gets covered time and time again vs just a simple search and/or reading to find the answer
I did just notice this at the top though: "Low quality posts will be deleted, especially when made simply to get to the 10 post threshold."
So much for my idea of spamming this thread.

Well I think that would be geared more towards the people that pop in a thread and post nothing but things like ... yeah....bump......me to......etc. not a conversation/question

Its dangerous out there. Take this.

Why do people create new threads when there are already dedicated threads for this.
Why do you reply to those threads then?
@samflorin same reason you just did ... Voice an opinion. But yeah I probs should'nt (and this reply doesn't help either).

People can give away the invites anyway they want. If they don't like the available threads, there shouldn't be a problem with them opening up one that suits their purposes. But no selling or trading invites please...that's just wrong

Ok, then there should be a new section just for invite threads like there is at the Oneplus forum. These threads shouldn't be here in General then.

Thanks for clarifying. Before, the mods were closing every invite thread except the stickied one and the XDA-Exclusive Invite List managed by timmaaa. I must say I prefer it that way. The General section is getting filled with random invite threads that if not closed, just cause more begging. It also makes having a stickied thread kinda pointless. Why not make a "give away your invite thread," sticky it and end the madness?
