voicenotes to email? -- WM Note2self replacement? - EVO 4G General

Hi,
When I had my WM phones, I used a product called Note2Self. Its a once click recording app, that records your voice notes & sends them via email once the note is complete.
It was one click to start the note, one click to stop & auto send.
Is there anything like that on Android? I know there is a voice widget, but I used am looking for something easier, that i can use on the run.
Thanks,
Rich
This is what it is for WM.

[new release] VJSlippyPalm - Toggles Palm Messaging

VJSlippyPalm
Guys, a quick app:
see here for the Palm Messaging App
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280256
Once installed, you lose some access to the normal inbox, which you may still want.
Using VJSlippyPalm, you can assign the app to a hardware key.
Running VJSlippyPalm will then launch the Palm Messaging app.
However, pressing it again will close Messaging and instead switch to the normal Inbox. And vice versa.
If you have one of the apps already launched in the background, it will jump to that app (eg if Inbox is open, and you're on the Today screen, it will jump to Inbox)
By default it will close the other app.
You can launch it with a command line -min to minimise instead, for whatever reasons.
-about will show information about the app.
Download from my website.
V
PS: please note, this is not an app to uninstall the Palm Messaging App. It just switches between the different screens. Backup your system before installing Palm Messaging!
lol...well, that was fast!
Will give it a shot now...thanks.
Very nice, although I get a slow screen redraw between Messaging and Outlook E-Mail. Any ideas? On a i-mate JASJAM.
Okay this probably has something to do with Messaging closing, rather than minimising.
I understand creating a shortcut with "-min", but how to assign this shortcut to the Messaging hard key?
hmmm... i installed the palm messaging app and did the registry. i lost the sms/mms on inbox. is using this software will bring the sms/mms in the inbox or will this just switch between the two?
beatrix - it's nothing sophisticated, it just switches between the normal inbox and the palm app. It won't modify registry or fix anything that's already been broken
To assign the -min version to a hardware key, go into your start menu, find the existing shortcut to VJSlippyPalm, copy it, paste it, and then edit the copy. You want to amend the shortcut to just say
"....blah blah\vjslippypalm.exe" -min
Click to collapse
Rename the shortcut to VJSlippyPalm Min.lnk
And then launch that in the normal way from Settings > Buttons.

Legend, thanks!
What is the difference between the Palm threaded app in that link above (that was removed) and the one here on freewareppc.com?

That one is the triangle powers .Net app. It's not integrated nicely like the Palm version and was very buggy when I tried it and very slow to load.
cant install cab from site on phone
hey, i tried dling the cab from your site directly from my phone, but it just brought me to a webpage with a whole lot of source code and stuff.
Seems ok to me:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjslippypalm/vjslippypalm.cab
paste it in to your browser, should work.
V
hey, tried it again and it still didnt work. tried in pie and opera.
Weststar - I didn't know you were using your PDA to browse. I could attach it as an attachment, but I don't like doing that as I like to update the cabs on my website as I develop them - attaching it will cause a static link of course. Could you use your PC to download instead? Worst case I'll attach.
V
well im at school right now, so i cant do it on my computer. but whatever works out for you is fine with me =)
do you /anybody know if the Palm's thread messaging implies all the SMS will go from the default inbox to the Palm's own database? i.e. if you open the default mail application, will it still be able to read all old sms.
to Zenkins:
I'm guessing you already have your answer by now, but to you or in case anyone else wonders, after install your SMS will NOT go to the old messaging database. I assure you this minor drawback is not worth passing the Palm threaded messaging app up though. It works beautifully! The lack of threading was my biggest and only serious complaint about my CHT-9000 (Hermes/TyTN/8525) since leaving my Treo 600. I use SPB backup to backup the databases daily in any case so for me at least, it's a non-issue.
Err, just realized I misread... I'm pretty sure the install killed my old SMS database. I'm not 100% certain I did have anything in it since I had just flashed the ROM and started fresh, but I'm pretty sure i did.
I don't understand. Which install killed your db?
VJSlippyPalm certainly shouldn't, it doesn't touch any databases, and AFAIK the Palm app shouldn't destroy it either, hence the use of VJSlippyPalm to switch between the two apps, which can co-exist well. However, I don't use the Palm app so can't say definitively.
V
thanks, I have figured that the old SMS will be lost. in anycase, I tried installing the palm messaging, it hung on me when I try to compose the message, or if it manage to compose and send, it goes straight into the sentbox, but the message doesn't get send out at all.
any idea?
Really no idea, as I said, I don't use it. Try googling for VJSlippyPalm and it'll take you to the another website that packaged up the Palm app. They've discussed bugs etc there.

Visual Voice Mail is Here!! (SimulScribe)

www.simulsays.com
I have been using this program for about 3 days now and I must say that it is pretty good. You really have to follow the setup to get it right. I did not select to do the transcribe feature but I am thinking about it now that I like the Visual Voice mail side of the program.
My only downside now is the program is not giving me a notification that I have new emails. They say it is supposed to work......but! The way I overcame this is that on the setup screen, I have notification set to send me a email to let me know. This is a work around but still a great app.
Anyone else using this..........if so let me know what you think and how it is working for you.
CallWave does this too...
...and it is free.
i saw this on boygenius.com. but i also read that the .cab file is only for the smartphone and not for pocket pc.

I use callwave as well...it's so awesome! I LOVE IT!
Been trying to sign up for callwave but it doesn't recognize my phone number format and I'm in Canada.
How should it be written?
as for simulscribe, yes make sure u follow instructions or it wont work
I tried callwave.....it seems pretty good, but there is not a program for the PPC that will allow you to see each voicemail that you have. It does send to your email. If you have push email turned on, it is ok. SimulScribe still seems to be a little further in with its PPC Visual Voice Mail. Maybe someone will come out with something better quick!

You mention you were having problems with email notifications. Does this work with your email, or is it a standalone app (there's not too much info on the simulsays website). Also, the website mentions it's compatible with a few Blackberry devices and Windows Mobile Smartphones (not Pocket PC's). You didn't have any problems installing it?
It is a .cab file that you download. After you do setup on their site and download the cab file, it will update itself with a new .cab. The second .cab is for PPC not smartphone. I have no trouble with anything but it's internal notification. As a side note you can setup a notification via email and this works great. I just hate having to apply this fix! Anyone out there without this problem.

You can get your voicemails transcribed and sent to you via email or text message. You have to pay for this feature.
Tomcat - have you noticed any extra battery drain using this app? I'm wondering if it works sort of like push email, where it's constantly checking if you have new voicemail, or if it only works when you actually get a new voicemail.
I'm removing this. My phone doesn't alert me when I have a voice message. I have to go to the program to check. Also the voice mail volume is really really low.
This looked quite cool, but it seems to require a monthly fee for the service (which is fine, but I wouldn't use it enough to make it worthwhile).
However, I am wondering something now....
I have a wizard and it was said that a wizard is not capable of accessing the audio for the phone, but I see that you can "record" calls on a Hermes. I'd guess this is limited to you recording your side, but if you could record/monitor the incoming signal and I have free voicemail, would it be possible to transcribe messages on the phone when the program is activated by an incoming voicemail notification?
Ahhh pipe dreams...
PT Barnum was right

HTML Display in Email

Does the Windows Mobile Email client allow for automatic HTML download/display (like most other phones do today) as a preview or even after the actual email is being displayed. Is there a special setting to make this happen? I am coming from a Blackberry 9700 (a great device) and I am used to seeing certain emails in HTML even in preview mode. With the HD2, I only see text. Is there a Fix to this?
Thanks in advance.
I would like to know this too. With my iPhone, it automactically d/l the HTML email with all pics but on HD2, it doesn't. Something about "protecting my privacy". Is there anyway to make it auto download without clicking the links?
im with you guys on that. i thought i could just activate it but i guess not. Plz...if anyone knows a fix it would be greatly appreciated.
Hey guys welcome to Windows Phone's. I have been dealing with this on every one of my devices, it is one of my very few complaints with WM. I know you can have the images automatically download on iPhone and blackberry, but you cant with WM or even Android for that point. I do remember a thread about the feature awhile back and it was mentioned that it was actually a security feature built into Windows Mobile.

I hate that too

I agree I enjoyed the one for android using my Touch Pro2. I am sure there will be one for WP7S but hopefully one for WM 6.X as well

Or you could just...
...go to eBay.com...?
go to your inbox , select menu-tools-options, tap on account , select download size settings,
there you can choose message format , select do you want just text, headers or entire message (with pics) to be downloaded. or you can just set attachment limit for autodownload.
try reading phone manual next time

I have changed these settings every time I set up my emails accounts after every time I flash a new ROM (sometimes 4-5 times weekly) from my 8125, Moto Q, Wing, Vogue, Diamond, Touch Pro, Imagio, Touch Pro2, and now HD2. Yes those settings are there but to get the picture to display, you have to hit Internet pictures blocked and then you can click Download Internet pictures.
As fas as I know there is no solution to that. It is the way Pocket Outlook works. On one hand that is a problem, since pictures don't get downloaded, on the other hand though, it saves a bit of bandwidth and time, if you don't really want to download all these pictures.
I got used to that. At least the HD2 has a great screen and the Pocket Outlook client works really well on it.
Anybody know why once the pics load, they are jaggie/low res? I know this is nitpicking but c'mon, there has to be a way to make them sharp or is it due to Opera Mini?

SMS 2 Calendar app

I have been a long time user of PhoneLog which logs all calls and sms messages into your calendar. Excellent app.
The only issue is that with 6.5.5 /Sense 2 it does not seem to log SMS's anymore
Does anyone have a similar app. It logs it in real time and ends up on my work calendar via Exchange active sync.
im not familar with anything personally, but it sounds like a cool idea and i would be interested to know aswell.
by the way... are you using the HTC Messaging Client or the stock WinMo one? i wonder if that would make any difference to the performance of PhoneLog.
Its a thought.
Messages are still finally stored in the Winmo messaging client. The HTC one is just a skin however the phonelogs triggers may be blocked by HTC.
working
Can this cab and it seems to be working again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
Thanks for the tip lamensterms
you say 'can' this .CAB? do you mean trash/ditch the .CAB, or use that .CAB?
ha ha, im not trying to be a jerk... just not sure if you had a typo or not.
i do use that .CAB seeing as i couldnt agree with the HTC client.
glad you got it going, now i think ill have to check PhoneLog out.
cheers.
Typo. Cab worked fine.
Phone log = http://www.infinityball.com/phonelog/
Now is logging incoming messages but not outgoing.
I have tried using threaded view or single message view. Same issue. Better thou.
Also Sense now fails to acknowledge that the sms has been read. That might be a deal breaker.
Is there a util which can back up messages to calendar once a day/week?

while using the stock WM sms client... it is a know issue for Sense to keep displaying the notification bubble on the SMS tab. i experience this problem very rarely (so rarely that it is hardly a problem for me). i think it might have been discussed in the thread where you retrieved zenyee's .CAB, but i cannot remember for sure.

after some quick google "research"... it seems there are other apps similar to phonelog available for blackberry and android... but phonelog may be the only one of its kind for WM.
here is a request on another (microsoft) forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/thread/66e9160d-46ed-452c-91fa-6f3a6a88f86d
there are other folk out there who share your request. maybe some further integration could be on the horizon.
let me know how you go with HTC messaging VS WINMO.
cheers.

Google Voice for WM (HD2)

I use WM and Android and when using Android I can use Google Voice to speak instead of keying in txt. Does WM have a voice app that I can use when Txting? I have done many searches and cannot find such an app. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find an app like this to do emails, txt, etc. iPhone has Dragon Dictate, Android has Google Voice, and WM has - nothing!
Microsoft has vioce commands, but I do not believe that's what you want.
TellMe looks more like what you want.

Thanks, tried that and it does not do email and text. You would think that WM would have this capability since the other phones do.
This was developped for WM6. Possibly it runs on WM6.5 too.
Give it a try....
It claims that it is able to create contacts and mails by voice alone.

Just Dld and will install shortly and let you know. I believe I tried it months ago. Thanks!
Tried TellMe again (2nd time) and it is very slow, inaccurate and totally no comparison with Google Voice. JMHO! I would rather go from WM to Android and txt from Android.
However, Thanks again for the help.
Tried Voice Commander and that is very limited.
